i'm really so curious how deeply tbhx is gonna go with its whole premise of "heroes are made and gain powers based on trust" because i really wasn't anticipating that

1) moon/xiao yueqing has teleportation-based powers but because everyone wants her and nice to stick together, her teleportation leads back to nice which was INSANE to me

and

2) lin ling is becoming increasingly more worried about being clean and perfect which is a side effect of nice's image of perfection which is indicating that this whole trust system can have mental effects??? and that's horrifying to me???

The "Sansa reminds Sandor of his sister" motive that some people try to hitch to his character really just flies in the face of his actual attachments to her, doesn't it? Sansa reminds Sandor of himself. He sees the little boy who used to love knights in this girl who's been swept up by the same romanticism. He sees his abuser in her abusers, the much larger knight(s) beating on the helpless child. He sees how she is betrayed by every level of authority that should have saved her and remembers his father's neglect and Tywin and Robert's apathy for Gregor's crimes. He's protective of Sansa because he was Sansa.

And GRRM's design, that one of the strongest warriors in the series, a fearsome and cynical 6'8" guy who's "muscled like a bull" and has the face of death itself, sees himself in this soft and effeminate teen girl, and empathizes with her because he was an abuse victim too, is INFINITELY more compelling than "Oh yeah I bet she just reminds him of his sister," who he's never mentioned and who we know literally nothing about. Way to unnecessarily water down a character, you couldn't have ignored the black and white text more efficiently if you tried.

speaking of isekai, imagine you live in a world where ppl falling into other universes is pretty common.

ppl get whisked off so much that there's a being who's only job is to retrieve those who fall into other worlds. Accord is really good at her job, the Travelers usually get back by the end of the week.

The Travelers are instantly labeled as celebrities. Everyone wants to know about their adventures. You've heard of world's where people can control elements. Someone else fell through a world where only a certain group of humans can see and fight monsters. There was this other person who apparently went into the Iliad. woof.

So one day, when you wake up in a place that isn't your bed, nor your home, you know to remain calm. Instead, you bide your time. You wander around the world. It's a strange one. You see the evidence of humanity all around, but you haven't see them yet. Every so often, you'd come across decayed clunky-looking robots.

also, you know you've been here for hours and yet...the sun has been in the exact same position as always.

Eventually, you meet a working robot. He's really nice! he seems really excited to meet you too, and you soon learn you're the first human he's ever met. He tells you that all of the other humans have gone to the Moon, and you should talk to the androids if you want to know more.

and so you do. the android's reactions is more or less the same compared to the robot's. you get that they've never seen a human before, but their reactions are throwing you off a little. They never let you lift a finger. You're dressed in their finest clothes and you're given such beautiful jewelry because we've learned that humans love shiny things no? every single thing you do is jotted down and gushed at. one android even fainted out of pure joy when you sneezed. Sure, they were a bit weird, but they meant well. You were fine with it.

At first.

One android guard turns into two then three, then four. Sometimes, you are asked to sit next to the King of androids as the rest celebrate your 'excellence'. The incident that scared you the most was where that one android with a mangled leg broke out of the crowd, begging for your blessing.

....it's starting to feel like they see you as a God.

things just keep getting stranger. whenever you ask about talking to the humans on the moon, the androids keep giving you these strange excuses. going outside happens less and less. The King of Androids starts getting a bit too interested in human marriages and the anatomy of the human body. every time you mention Accord or the prospect of going home, the androids get a very strange look on their face.

You know none of the androids follow the Christian faith, but you can't help but get a sinking feeling in your stomach when you see something that eerily looks like a church being built. Your attendants start asking about ring sizes. When you ask about it to anyone they get a really big smile on their face and say 'it's a surprise'.

You just hope Accord finds you soon.

going insane thinking about the harrow and palamedes friendship. harrow, who has never met another necromancer her age forming a bizarro 3D chess rivalry while pal worries about her safety at every possible turn. harrow, who is up to her eyebrows in paranoia and secrecy, trusting the sixth house with gideon unconscious and hurt, letting them into the ninth house quarters unsupervised. if “i cannot conceive of a universe without you in it” is goth for i love you, “death first to vultures and scavengers” has got to be goth for i love you (platonic). pal’s first reaction when harrow comes into his bubble in the river is to scoop her up in a hug, and at this point she doesn’t remember anything about him because cutting out all her memories of gideon is impossible without cutting out memories of the sixth, but she still makes him a skelehand to inhabit anyway. when harrow’s memories are finally whole, she tells dulcinea she couldn’t face pal knowing that his pen pal girlfriend died on her account, but the next time she “faces” him, palamades’s soul is in someone else’s body and harrow’s body is full of nona’s soul. he spends six months protecting and caring for harrow’s body (and nona obv), believing in the possibility of bringing her back to it the same way cam believed in him. “god, do you know i miss harrow terribly.” and by the time harrow comes back to her body at the very end of ntn, pal is gone forever, fully pauled. the last time harrow and palamades see each other as their complete selves is in canaan house, alive and unlyctored. two of the smartest and loneliest people in the solar system meet each other in the worst of circumstances and spend the rest of the story dancing around each other as fragments of themselves, trying to care about each other in the interim but never fully meeting like they did the first time. a friendship made almost entirely of missing the other person. “do you know i miss harrow terribly.” god. i need to lie down
