A conference to discuss the fate of one Jin Guangyao. - Or, the one after it all.

Kay's comments: This story takes a look on what could have happened if Jin Guangyao would have survived Guanyin Temple and I really like it a lot. Lan Xichen starts petitioning to other sect leaders that Jin Guangyao should be allowed to be imprisoned in the Cloud Recesses until the end of his life and the other sect leaders aren't very happy about it, because they want him dead. Lan Qiren calls back Lan Wangji from his honeymoon to help him deal with the fallout and learns to appreciate Wei Wuxian in the process. Really enjoyed it!

Excerpt: “I wish I knew,” Lan-xiansheng sighs, and he looks older than Wei Wuxian remembers. Worn and tired. “I worry for him; he has not taken the recent changes in the jianghu well. I fear that this might cause trouble for the sect, if he continues to stand by Jin Guangyao despite the proof of his actions that has arisen.” That Wei Wuxian has heard of—more small sect leaders coming forward about underhanded deals, payoffs to civilians. Hardly anything surprising; if Nie Huaisang had a hand in it, Wei Wuxian would also not be surprised. The new Chief Cultivator seemed quite disappointed by Jin Guangyao’s survival. Wei Wuxian can’t say he disagrees with that disappointment.

He's ditching his work in favor of going through is older brother arc to a certain fire cracker of a kid. Rambling below for more details:

So in the original manga Wish reincarnation is a thing along with the divide between angels and demons like every other fantasy story. So some hundred years ago there was a war between the angels and demons and within one of the battles Diluc was killed shortly before the war ended.

About five years before the plot officially started Kaeya started his search for reincarnated Diluc. But only just to see how he's doing and how he would start his next life because it is sort of a taboo and a sacrilege to reestablish connection with someone from a previous life out of consideration for the reincarnated to avoid awakening some potentially unwanted memories and trifle with their new lives and identity. And Kaeya really does mean to stick by those rules when he finds Diluc, but turns out Diluc had been orphaned at a young age either from abandonment or the loss of his parents so the kid is pretty much just by himself in some seedy orphanage.

So what is a poor angel to do but masquerade as a human and adopt Diluc as his little brother. But he's very careful to not bring up Diluc's previous life and plans to return to heaven as soon as Diluc is old enough to take care of himself.

Now Jean being one of the angels in the higher ranks doesn't really need to go out of her way to search for Kaeya but she already figured out that he disappeared to search for Diluc. So she goes down from heaven to bring Kaeya back quickly before anyone else could suspect Kaeya of tampering with Diluc's reincarnation and send someone else to punish him for sacrilege.
