Pain pills those were never an option for me. Being a recovering addict taking oxy was Never an option. Taking care of my body is the only option. Being as healthy as I can be is the only option. Being and staying active keeps me going. I refuse to give in to this disease or let it control me. I will Not let the pain rule me. I know it sucks, ladies. I know it is hard. Some days I do stay in bed and cry into my pillow. We are allowed a little bit of that some times. But don't let it take over. Be proactive and take charge of your health, and your reproductive health! Especially you younger women, in your 20s and 30s. Your older self will thank you. Trust me. Well sort of. My pregnancy sucked ass. I love my son with all my heart. He is my favorite person. But carrying him for nine months was some kind of hell. (I'll have a pregnancy story blog some time.) And labor was something I never wanted to experience again. Fast forward to the last five year's or so. I've had my tubes tied since I was 28. Been off any form of birth control since that time. I have learned through trial and error, and a LoT of research, how to naturally control my symptoms. Nutrition plays a Huge role in endometriosis. I cut out almost all processed foods. I can't tolerate artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners. Yeasts extracts and MSG are off limits completely unless I want to be bed ridden for a day or more. (I'm gonna talk more about how vegan processed foods affected me in another blog.) I eat as naturally as possible. I put turmeric, black pepper and ginger in almost every thing I eat. I stay away from foods that are inflammatory to me. I don't train like usual during this week. I don't lift as I am too weak and fatigued. My body is busy trying to protect itself from itself! I do walk, stretch, do light yoga. I also like ballet stretches with my band. I take hot Epsom salt baths with essential oils (lavender, lemon and patchouli are particular soothing.) My boyfriend rubs my quads for me, the pain radiates and they ache. Sometimes I take ibuprofen when it is especially bad. I'm 40 years old now. You'd think I'd be used to this. I'm not. It sucks every month, sometimes more than others. If I could afford it I would have a hysterectomy. I have noticed some premenopausal symptoms creeping in. Idk if this is normal but I can't wait for menopause to start and finish. But I probably have another 15-20 years. So for now I try to stay proactive and do things to control my symptoms. Knowledge is power. I would be way worse off if I hadn't done the research on my own to find what helps me.
