Every region/city/town has their own local delicacies that they're famous for and proud of. You may have heard of New York style Pizza or Chicago style. Believe it or not Windsor, Ontario has its very own style when it comes to pizza. It is a pepperoni pizza but with a twist. The pepperoni on a Windsor style pizza is shredded so that you have a piece of pepperoni in every bite unlike the traditional rounds of pepperoni slices, where you may get it in one bite but the next bite will just be full of cheese. Another twist is that it contains mushrooms but canned not fresh, why? Because, it has more moisture so it does not shrivel up in the oven and so comes out meaty and chewy. The third is the order in which the toppings are assembled. First the sauce then the cheese and at last the toppings. Cheese is never on top. I loved how versatile @scharglutenfree hamburger buns are, for quick and easy Windsor inspired mini pizzas. I used the hamburger buns as a pizza base, topped with sauce, #dairyfree mozzarella cheese shreds, then shredded vegan pepperoni and canned mushrooms. It is such an easy way to make pizza at home. These can also be packed for school or office lunches easily.
