This fireplace surround was a custom creation from a talented metal worker here in Chicago. . The mantle? That solid hunk of timber was McGyvered by none other than John himself. Fashioned from the 100+ year old timbers that used to hold up the building. The man has vision! . #PROGRESS! . Remember that video I posted a few days ago with the “big dig” in the basement? The basement was dug in 1895 and not very deep, so we took out that old floor and dug it down. . Today, the new basement floor went in! And Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood near DePaul University is not exactly known for its spacious accommodations for contractors. .
