Secret: Yes, somewhere in the world a village misses its idiot. When I posted my #home painting for day 1, a few people mentioned that I should have used an old painting of the village idiot.  Since I first painted it, I have been more humble in realizing we all make accidental left turns when the group around you knows to turn right.  In thinking about what it means to me now on being a “village idiot” is about narcissism and self-involvement so you are blinded to how your actions harmfully impact others. ~Home was a place she had outgrown but was forever in her heart~ This was created for “Folk Tale Week” 2019.  The day 1 prompt is “home”. The idea was inspired by “Alice in Wonderland” with her troubles of finding herself too big and too small in the world around her as she tries to find her way back home.  I wanted to play with the idea of growing up and leaving a childhood home behind in many ways as you learn to navigate and explore life. Art was created using watercolor pencils on waterboard board.  After the initial drawing, the image was painted in to soften the pencil.  Further color washes were applied with watercolor to add more depth.
