hi, i have a question related to nlmg. i saw its number one in your rankings list. and i remember your post about futs. i wanted to ask, is there anything you would’ve written/done differently for nlmg? sorry if you’ve already answered this anytime in the past, i’m new here :)

in terms of nlmg, as in the main series, really the only thing i'd change would be ben / ben and chopper. i do not like ben. i think he was very shitty to both palm and chopper, and i do not think there was any legwork done to properly redeem him in any way. he definitely needs to stay away from both palm and nueng, but - as for chopper - i would have loved to see him kick ben to the curb. and i think it would have actually been a wonderful parallel to his relationship with his father, with chopper truly learning that he deserves better than the ways in which both ben and his father were treating him. plus, rejecting him, despite still having a crush on him and generally having some complicated feelings towards him, would have been a cool catalyst for him to then also realise he will be better off without his father, even if he is - well - his father.

now, if we also take our skyy 2 into account, i kind of have two answers there.

i do like the our skyy 2 x nlmg episodes and this idea of palmnueng constantly meeting as both different reincarnations of themselves in their universe and also as alternative versions of themselves in other universes is beautiful. the one thing i am adamant about is that palm should have proposed. that scene where he reaches into his pocket and ends up fishing out a passport and a plane ticket? should have been a ring and i will die on this hill! i just think it makes so much sense for palm with how traditionalist he is in some sense, how intensely loyal he is to both nueng and their relationship, and as an additional resolution to the conflict of the episodes, with them getting engaged being sort of a concrete promise of building the life that palm wants for himself and them in the future, although it is postponed due to nueng's desire to further pursue education (but palm should definitely also use that plane ticket, absolutely).

all that said, and this is probably very clear from my fic, but my ideal endgame for nueng is him quitting the company. now, this wouldn't make sense to happen by the end of the original series with all its specific events, but - since we did get an opportunity for a bit of a sequel - i kind of wish that was what it focused on. with my fic, i tried to explore an alternative scenario, in which nueng's life takes such a drastically devastating and lonely turn that he comes to the conclusion that he wants to quit the company in a pretty dramatic way. but i think jojo was kind of softly making his way towards the same possibility with nueng going abroad to study something completely unrelated to business and to pursue his true passion. and, ideally, i would have wanted nueng to actually get there in canon and tell his mom that he is not going to carry the company on his shoulders in the name of his father's ghost anymore. i wish that for him, complete freedom.
