Interesting details about certain people’s hands in FMA/B:

Kimblee mimics the clapping transmutation that those who opened the gate at their own cost can do. Of course he does this by joining two transmutation circles together. With just one he can make objects as well like he did with the prison guard. I wouldn’t be surprised if early on fans thought he had opened the gate in the past. I feel like this is rather intentional.

Greed’s ouroboros mark is on his hand; which bears some striking resemblance to how alchemists, at least state alchemists often carry transmutation circles on their hands. I wouldn’t be surprised if people saw that ouroboros and thought it was a transmutation circle and maybe asked if he was an alchemist.

I wonder if the remark Ling makes about Ed’s clapping transmutation looking like a prayer is ever brought up again but I also think this means something.

Anyway just thinking these things might be chock full of meaning.

Okay but we’re looking over a crucial fact:

If Kimblee got sent to prison directly after the war, but then left wearing a suit, where did the suit come from.

Did he have it before hand and it was dropped off for him so he wouldn’t be in a uniform that had sat for seven years?

Did the Homunculi just decide to give him a suit and that’s what he decided to wear forever after?

Did the prison decide it??

Okay Sukuna absolutely needed a backstory but hello?? Countless phenomenal villains, shonen villains included, have been written without backstories. Example A: Solf J. Kimblee, Fullmetal Alchemist (Manga/Brotherhood). He's one of the most beloved, iconic, gloriously hateable villains of his era (an era of shonen with a lot of iconic villains, mind you)! And y'know what? ZERO backstory. We see him appear twice in other characters' flashbacks and he is the exact same guy, nothing has changed.

Kimblee was never written to have a backstory. He was written to be interesting in the present. Sukuna was clearly written to have an intense, interesting past, and we never get to see it. That's why it's an issue. But backstory isn't inherently required for a villain.

I thank God for Baeli's existence tbh.
