Shaper’s Cali Quiver: What I ride at home and why... Todd is 40-something 6’0” 175-180lbs. From left to right: (1) 6’1” x 19 1/4” x 2 5/8” 32.5L #Flyinlionsurfboard in ultralite proxy epoxy construction using high density foam stringer for waves overhead clean hollow and good. Drives off the tail which feels great in steep waves with push. My favorite performance shortboard in those kind of conditions. Really springy and responsive in that construction too. (2) 6’1” x 19 3/8” x 2 11/16” 34L #Flyinzionsurfboard perfect for the beachies around my house in Oxnard. A little extra paddle power and in poly construction to smooth out any bumps or surface texture from offshores or lumps in the face. A wide open sweet spot from the deep single to double concave make this board super predictable whether you’re back on the tail doing turns or riding forward in the barrel, she just carries a nice consistent drivey speed. (3) 5’11” x 19 3/4” x 2 5/8” 33.3L #Zipstajet in ridiculite epoxy construction. My favorite all arounder. This board is fast, drivey, snappy in the hook, lite and responsive. Goes great in small point stuff, and overhead hollow beachies. The latest iteration of the Monsta series. This is my fifth one of these boards making subtle fine tunes each go round. This current one is a very special board. (4) 5’10” x 19 3/4” x 2 5/8” 33.3L #Zipstitch a shorter/ wider high performance groveller version of the previous board...for zippin’ across & stitchin it up. I always have one of these in my truck. Ridiculite epoxy keeps it fast floaty whippy & responsive. (5) 5’8” x 20 1/4” x 2 9/16” 33L #Postmodjet poly with happy baltic blue resin tints, beak nose & 7” base wood fish keel twins. For speed gliding free as a bird across papery lipped fast running pointbreaks. (6) 5’8 1/2” x 19 7/8” x 2 5/8” 33L #Lilrascalsurfboard poly with MR style twins & small trailer. Flat rocker, swept back swallow & single to double to spiral vee let her float like a butterfly yet still sting like a bee in just about everything especially lackluster rolly slopey stuff. The longest standing design that still holds a great deal of relevance and reverence in the great hall of thrills. Two-pak for Winson: 6’1” x 19” x 2 9/16” 30.3L #Flyinzionsurfboard in ridiculite epoxy construction. And a 6’4” x 18 7/8” x 2 9/16” 31.8L #Flyinlionsurfboard step-up in poly construction. The trip to Indo was put on hold, but hope still lives that these babies will have their glory days in the hot Indonesian sun. And...Always remember to be bound together in love, peace, truth and light. It’s what changes the world. It’s what sets souls free. Winson is 6’0” 175lbs. We may be practicing social distancing, but we are not socially distant: This is Justin with his new 6’1” x 19 1/8” x 2 9/16” 31L #Flyinlionsurfboard We frothed out, we padded up the new craft, dropped in fins and went surfing today. The waves weren’t that great, but I saw Justin throw buckets and do some fly by’s. And we both agreed that just standing up on any salty ocean wave seems to send bolts of smile creating energy to the soul. After all, we are creatures of electric energy, but let us always remember that it is our souls that live forever. Feeling very alive today. https://www.instagram.com/p/B_GOBs2H3ML/?igshid=c5rqlz6y7mgq

Stoked surfer reports >> this just in: “I’ve been riding (such and such brand) for the last few years, but felt like I was missing a few things in my surfing. I wanted to get a custom board from you for a long time, and was hoping the experience would meet my expectations. Well,  I’m so stoked on this board you made me. Just what I was hoping for and more; an all-around high performance board that lets me get way more critical. I’m able to throw it into steeper parts of the wave where I think I’m not going to ride out and it feels like the nose is super free and rides out of stuff I’m not expecting it to. It took me like my first three waves to figure out how the Flyin Lion generates speed, but once I got that back foot over those concaves in the tail, that ‘gas pedal’ you told me about when I picked the board up, then wow after that it was on, so fast yet grippy so I could push as hard as I want, and just a natural perfect fit for me. Just what I was hoping for. I think this epoxy technology is a key part too; the high density foam stringer in the epoxy core with carbon is so thwangy and lively responsive. And it works not just in good waves, but in like two foot I can do full wraps too. So stoked!” - Ben from Port Hueneme 6’1” x 19 1/2” x 2 3/4” 34L #Flyinlionsurfboard in teamlite epoxy with high density foam stringer and carbon reinforcements. Ben is 6’1”, 200lbs. #surferfeedback https://www.instagram.com/p/B5QrlcYA_yh/?igshid=17zak83x4kbyt

This is Nash from San Clemente. We like how he gnashes his teeth and bears his claws with style in this frontside gaffleroo. Nash is 11, 4’8”, 78lbs. His poppa Jay was one of the first rippers to get boards from me way back when I lived in San Clemente and handshaped every board from a raw blank. The days when it felt kinda almost like running a black market surfboard cartel where I’d meet people in all sorts of out of the way spots like the back of gas stations early in the morning, or in back alley’s behind clubs late at night, at taco shops for breakfast, at crash houses where like 10 surfers would be living in a space meant for maybe four, in parking lots and dirt roads wherever the waves were going, at the end of jetty rocks, or on piers at dawn...crumpled wadded cash for a blade that kept the dream alive. Memories that I count a privilege because to me these are the real people that make our little subculture breathe and thrive and grow through the next generation...with the real stuff that can’t be bought or sold or marketed or stickered and contracted...because it’s the stuff that makes our souls tick with the genuine stoke that the ocean offers us freely every day. So take a break from your labors, take a rest from thinking too hard; and breath the free air my friends. @_nasher____ @jay7seas @_vanarchy 📷 @zixabi 4’8” x 16 1/2” x 2 1/8” 17L #supergromsurfboard #flyinlionsurfboard https://www.instagram.com/p/B14OpPGH15e/?igshid=19dnwfdxwixed
