"Fucking shut up, Ragnar!" a male voice echoed from the upper floor followed by some strong stomps before he turned his face to hers, pointing the rifle up and shooting with a loud noise and a disgusting smile in his face.

Her body trembled with the sound of the gun and she closed her eyes when the lamp hanged in the middle of the room moved with the impact of a body falling on the ground of the upper apartment. Ragnar smiled.

When smiling at him with her lips tasting the ale they were used to share together after his damn work at the police station.

When moaning under his body, naked inside that apartment his fury destroyed almost completely.

It was supposed to be a theatre. She was supposed to seduce him, to get the police out of her way. But she fell in love with that damn officer and he fell in love with her so bad that not even when his own investigation gave him her true identity he was disposed to leave her.

Drug dealer or not, she was his mate, his other half. And he loved her with all his heart and all her fake names... Her fake lives.

But he wasn't the only one searching for her. And he couldn't avoid the others to find what his own intelligence had found first.

His plans couldn't protect her forever and he couldn't burn all the pieces of evidence his team was finding. The fucking newbie on the department was good and he was trying to show service by catching her...

It didn't take too long until he found her hidden spots and burst them all. She had no other choice, but she could still burn her bonds with him. Save him...

He turned his body back, looking into the destroyed apartment. Her figure was there, standing in the middle of the living room; her eyes so sad, so filled with regret, almost begging him not to do it.

The tears dropped from her chin to her dress and he remembered: he was wrong. She already cried before. On the day she died in his hands she was crying.

His mind dove on his memory one more time and he could hear once again the sound of the boots, the officers outside, sirens... Aethelwulf had surrounded the entire place but he knew that building like the palm of his hand. He could escape through the basement; he tried to make her listen to him.

"I won't destroy your entire life..."

He could still remember the taste of blood in her lips when she kissed him and forced his finger against the trigger.

"Live for us," she said.

She was smiling, but he remembered tears. There were tears in her face. Just like now.

He looked at her one more time.

"I can't do what you asked me, (Y/N). I can't live for us. Cause without you here there is no us. There is no me. And I'm tired of this." he came closer, seeing when she raised her face to look into his eyes. "I'm tired of searching for you in every bottle, every seed, stone, gram of powder. I'm tired of lies. There is no tomorrow for me. And even if I had, still I'd trade all my tomorrows for just one yesterday with you. There was never me without you... And you're not here, love. Neither am I".

He touched his forehead on hers just to feel her scent spreading and the illusion of her image disappeared completely.

His fingers pulled the trigger shooting the medal and destroying the last symbol of a proud he never had. And so he turned his back, leaving the apartment towards the police station.

On the floor, letters, paper sheets, drug bags, photos... Everything opening showing them together. Their kisses registered in his cell phone, their conversations, his calligraphy all over the place with arrows pointing the names and little words confessing everything, identifying them both even on the most obvious scenes.

At the door, an enormous sentence in his calligraphy as well, as a teasing for the officer he knew he wouldn't kill this night. Aethewulf was in a day off and he chose this day specifically because he didn't want the bastard killed.

He wanted him to live with his own imbecility and he knew exactly how to make the asshole want to shot in his own head after reading the enormous letters carved on the wooden door...

"It was me, all the time".

He left the building wishing he could be a fly to see Aethelwulf's face when he first saw that door on the following morning. Ragnar smiled when his steps stopped in front of the police station. The next morning's journals would have another "intense twist" to talk about.

The hero was destroyed shot by shot, bullet by bullet. Shocked, few of the officers were able to react and he was able to make lots of the bastards that drove him to that point, to pay with their lives before someone could find reason enough to pull a trigger against him.

But after the first bullet, lots of them came and her figure was soon standing in the middle of the police station, looking at him with sad eyes once again.

It wasn't the hallucinogenic this time, he was sure. The burning sensation through his entire body wasn't pleasurable like the numbness of the shit she taught him how to use...

Even then, he smiled...

"I see you in Valhalla, my queen".

Shepherd of Fire

A (not so) little fic based on the song Shepherd of Fire by Avenged Sevenfold. I heard and saw Starscream so clearly in this song! @tyrantofthefirmament, hope you don’t mind me tagging you! Also tagging @vosianskyline because I used two of her characters in writing this.

I pity in watching you suffer I know the feeling of feeling of being damned alone I got a storybook of my own...

It had been a long and tiresome process but with Megatron gone, he could finally tend to his people once more. The silvery Seeker hated to see his own suffer and with the few Seekers he had found not long ago, Starscream went to search out survivors that might have returned to their former home.

It wasn't long before he spotted what looked to be a worn down trine huddled together in the ruins, possibly keening over the loss of their home and friends or other loved ones. Starscream motioned for the two with him to stay in the air, not wanting to overwhelm the three found in the ruins. He landed a good ways off, waiting for them to notice him before approaching carefully, servos held out palm up in a gesture of peace, "What has happened to our once grand home is a travesty, is it not?" He spoke in a calm and even softened tone, watching as the three slowly seemed to recognize their Prince. 

What he assumed was the leader of their trine nodded slightly, then looked to the other two before back to Starscream. Once more Starsceam spoke, "I see your pain and wish to ease it, if you would allow me to. I offer fuel and comfort, somewhere to stay until we can gather enough Seekers to rebuild Vos back to its former glory.

The dominant of the three nodded once more, trilling softly, "We thank you for it, Commander. It is sorely needed..." He frowned then, wings flicking downwards in distress as he looked to his trinemates, "Luna is injured and neither of us are medics."

Starscream frowned at the news as well, taking a few careful steps towards the small femme clearly in need of care. Seeing the other two allowing him to, he walked closer, field flaring in comfort as he knelt down to her, "We will get you cared for properly, my dear." Giving a soft trill and smiling in the slightest when he got one in return, he turned to her trinemates again. Starscream stood and offered a servo to the leader, who gladly took the help, "Tell me, what are your names? So that I may know what to call such brave sparks."

"Brave, my Lord? If... if you say so." The gold and white Seeker bowed his head, his wings lowered in respect for his Lord, "I am Brightwing," he glanced to the other two once more, a bright orange and deep red mech and the injured sapphire and mint femme, "and my trinemates/conjuges are Solarfire and Lunarlight."

Starscream nodded, flaring his field in a warm greeting, then looked skywards where the other two were still flying and motioned for them to come down with a flick of a wing. Once they were by his side, he gave a nod to the powder blue femme next to him though spoke to Brightwing, Solarfire and Lunarlight as he did so, “These are Pulsar and Airlift. Airlift is a medic and if you would allow, she could repair the worst of Lunarlight’s wounds before we move on.”

At seeing Solarfire and Brightwing’s confusion, Pulsar spoke with an edged tone, though not a harsh one, “For now, we cannot be seen hanging around the ruins; it would attract unwanted attention.”

Almost immediately the two mechs flicked their wings and Solarfire moved so that Airlift could get to Lunarlight. Airlift was by Lunar’s side quick, clicking and purring soothingly to the injured femme, “Don’t worry darling, we’ll get you patched up and back in the sky in no time.”

While their trinemate was being tended to, Solarfire and Brightwing bowed to Pulsar as they had Starscream, despite the nearly ancient Seeker waving it off, “Thank you for helping us. We thought perhaps it had been too late. When we came back and saw nothing we thought...” 

Brightwing didn’t need to continue, as Pulsar frowned and carefully brushed a wing against the other mech’s, “We are lucky that it is not. We as Seekers are hardy and strong, and we will come back from this stronger than before.”

Starscream hummed softly, content to have three more Seekers to add to their slowly growing numbers. It was satisfying to know that he had not only outlasted Megatron, but that he was also going to rebuild everything in spite of what had happened - including himself. His Seekers would come rise from the ashes of this downfall, stronger together and apart.
