I keep pressing more and more flowers and it brings me back to my childhood.

To fun stories and moments with my mother who would fill books, page after page, with plants to make arts and gifts.

I find myself wishing I could show her all the beautiful things I find but I am happy her heart is not burdened by the pain one so deeply loving would feel looking at the world as it is right now.

Glad to hear it!!! And the flower was pressed beforehand (albeit probably not the best pressing job lol) but if it got fucked up during the journey that is very unfortunate😔

i’m so sorry i wrote a longer response to this and then tumblr deleted it ;_; but the basis of my advice is:

1. optionally, try looking at new names, especially if your name is easily tied back to your source. you don’t have to change your name if you don’t want but it might be worth looking at, you may find one you like better! my name now was actually a nickname based off my old name, so it doesn’t have to be starkly different if you don’t want it to be.

2. find new interests and hobbies! this is the biggest piece of advice i have. devote your time to finding new passions instead of dwelling on your source. i’ve picked up an interest in dollmaking and i watch a lot of horror movies, and these are parts of me that i’ve discovered here and aren’t connected to my old source at all. maybe you like sports or flowerpressing or romantic comedies. who knows!

3. remember that there’s no wrong way to do this. i am still an introject. i’ve known people who have severed themselves from their source entirely, but i wouldn’t say i have. i will never not be an introject of this character. i still miss my friends and my family and i still think about them, but i am a fully realized person and people are always developing and changing. being an introject doesn’t exclude me from that. you could think about this process as just… the natural consequence of being alive and not something you are forced to do. you will change even without trying because you exist, and no matter what degree of separation from your source you end up being, that’s okay. as long as you end up somewhere you feel happy with yourself.
