while I think the story and game design of totk is really strong, I feel like the game lacks the sense of wonder that was in botw. it doesn't help that totk barely recognizes botw despite being a sequel. botw did happen and people will say as much, but many less prominent NPCs have forgotten Link and all of the physical evidence has disappeared or disposed of. No one mentions any of the champions except for Mipha. It's like a part of us, those who played botw, and in a way, Link, has also been buried. Just like the champions. The divine beasts. The sheikah. The gaurdians.
Maybe just like how they emerged from the ground, all the towers and shrines and divine beasts have sunken into the ground again. But no one acknowledges it, and the gaurdians themselves have disappeared. I miss the music and excitement that came from seeing one.
The zonai aren't nearly as mysterious and strange as the old Sheikah shrines. We know who Rauru and Sonia are. We understand that zonai devices are powered by zonaite. But the sheikah technology, the blue flames, its all gone up in smoke.
I dunno. it feels like I'm looking into a foggy mirror reflecting botw back at me. it's missing pieces that would make it whole. Walking around Hyrule, I feel like I keep seeing ghosts.

So what flower are You?
someone told me i reminded them of bird cherries.. when asked to elaborate, they said despite my aloof and blunt nature i seemed to have a protective streak... not Wrong i guess
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bird cherries are ornamental, flashy trees. flowers are very aromatic and the fruit is small and red. was used medicinally before, and there was the belief the bark warded the plague off.
personally.... i really think carnations (deep red ones..) and dahlias fit me.... can i say that myself? dahlias are very beautiful, show-stopping flowers. did you know they are from méxico? they symbolize staying true to your path, among many other things.. i like them... they are always the star of the show in any flowerbed.
Tumblr media
i also really like red roses. cliche i know. but they are quite the sight.
i have a dahlia in my room actually. a plant in a pot i mean. his name is apollo. its a bit difficult to get all his care done, since dahlias are tubers and i need to watch the water AND the sun..but.. i think its worth it.

Rhobinia def #1 for me
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mainly for childhood memories. Plus you can eat the flower!! But only the white ones. It tastes sweet, like sugar, and they bloom at the start of summer break where I went to school so it always told us that freedom is here.
Second place goes to Daylilies (which are not lilies but a secret, third thing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They just look gorgeous, that's all. Soft, elegant, graceful. And they ain't even rare. Once not long ago I wrote a short story to my crush with a daylily methaphor, so that's another personal sentimental attachment.

Since I've gotten through all the flower asks (though feel free to send more at any time and day) I've been thinking about my faves, so here's a compilation of other flowers I just need y'all to look at in my name. Aka list of purple flowers that taste nice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wisteria - looks amazing and is edible.
Violet - it's a shame the flavor went out of fashion, it is one of my favorites. Violet Ice cream is delicious. So is Black Tea with Violet.
Lavender - Everyone knows this one but come on. Tastes great. Smells great. What can't she do. Lavender Oat Latte is balsam for the soul.
Grape Hyacith - You're not going to guess it. Purple. edible. Not the real Hyacinths though, those are poisonous.
Lilac - Fav smell in the world. and you guessed it: Monch.
Lupine - PORBLE. (sometimes) EDIBLE.

Other favs:
Rose - Not the look but the flavor, which is admittedly not to everyone's taste
Mullein - Looks cool, medicinal properties, huge
Black Bearded Iris - come on. Looks metal.
Fern - I like it. My location doesn't allow me to eat fiddleheads or I would.
Peony - Amazing smell.
Magnolia - Some variations are edible and taste like garlic.
that's it, that's the post, thank you.

Hellebore!
Hellebore is native to Eurasia!
Its name comes from the Ancient Greek word “helléboros” (deriving from “heleîn”, meaning ‘to injure’, and ‘borá’ meaning ‘food’!), which comes from how the flower is poisonous. They’re also known as Christmas or Lenten roses, because of the time in which they flower (January-May)! They’re not related to roses though – they belong to the buttercup family!
Carl Linnaeus was the one to establish the Hellebore genus, in Species Planetarium in 1753 (I mentioned him before, I call him Flower Kronos cause made the flower clock!).
According to Greek mythology, these flowers originated from the tears of Demeter at the loss of her daughter, Persephone. They symbolise rebirth and second chances, generally that after some period of darkness or difficulty, you’ll be rewarded handsomely.
It also represents the idea that change is inevitable, and allowing it to happen instead of fearing it will also be rewarding.
While it has a reputation as a poisonous plant, it was traditionally used for medicinal purposes! According to Greek myth, the healer Melampus is said to have cured madness by treating patients with hellebore, and herbalists from ancient times through to the Middle Ages used it to treat a few illnesses, headaches, etc! Since they’re known to be poisonous, it’s probably best to consult an expert (NOT ME!!!) before ingesting it.
They bloom near the end of winter, but before spring! They’re also woodland-edge plants, doing best in rich, moisture-retentive (keeps moisture in) soil, and can do well in either full or partial shade! They don’t do so well in wet or boggy conditions, however. Bumblebees LOVE them cause the flowers face downward (to protect it from winter rains, also to shelter the little guys!), as well as how they’re rich in nectar!
Because they bloom just before spring, it was thought to have magickal powers, and because of this had strong association with witchcraft. It’s associated with the goddess Hecate, and in spells can be used for protection or to communicate with the dead. In Medieval times, it was often planted at the entrance of homes to ward off evil.
You can pair them with Begonia to warn of future challenges, Edelweiss for courage in the face of an upcoming emotional challenge, and Clover to wish the recipient good fortune.
