Sawfish are one of my favorite species of elasmobranch. This group includes all rays and sharks. I remember my first glimpse of one of these amazing creatures when I was a kid, and thought it was the coolest thing I have ever seen. Unfortunately, today, they are critically endangered. It's so important to make sure you are protecting our ecosystem and natural environment while enjoying our beautiful state. As recently as January of this year, a man was sentenced to 2 years probation, 80 hours of community service and a $2,000 fine for killing an endangered smalltooth sawfish. @floridafwc does not mess around when it comes to harming any animal, let alone an endangered one. This was about 25 yards at the most from the #playground and about 50 yards from the #softballfield and 10 yards from a #parkbench. I think #floridafishandwildlife #ffwc (even though there are signs posted to “leave the #wildlife alone” should this be allowed in an area where so many #children are around? (at Boombah Sports Complex at Seminole County)
