The Finals
@avery-alpha-varcolac
The kresnik had fought through multiple rounds, giving it everything he had and now, he was in the finals. Standing across from his opponent and he offers him a small smirk as he leaned against his spear. “Avery Thomson.” He hummed. “It’s been awhile since I’ve fought a vampire. I hope you won’t disappoint.” He grins and as soon as the bell rings, he hurls the spear at the Varcolac.
Avery’s Reply
"Ah the doctor. Why is it I always end up with one of your type in my way. I really have a type don't I?" The man mused looking the other over as he tried to think of a plan. The other was older, had power, and definitally would be a challenge. "I never do." The bell was loud and the spear fast. But Avery was quick to grab it and quicker to throw it right back at the other. His speed following it for a fist to any part of the man's body as a second attack.
Florian’s reply:
“you clearly do have a type, little vampire.” He smiled and watched the spear get hurdled back at him, only to erupt into flames with a wave of his hand. The fist the vampire threw caught him off guard when it connected with the side of his face, causing him to stumble and he threw a punch of his own.
Avery’s reply:
Avery just managed to dodge the fist. But he was proud he got one on the pretty face. He wondered who took care of the doctor when he was damaged. It was clear this fight would be a challenge he hadn't had in a while. His foot moved fast aiming to kick the other's feet out and slam his face into the dirt.
Florian’s reply:
“Finn punched harder than you.” The doctor chuckled as he rubbed his jaw and sidestepped Avery’s kick. “Come on Thomson, you really should just give up. I would hate to hurt you in front of your husband.”
Avery’s reply:
"Well dogs are known for their bites. And Finn is well trained." A growled as the other moved and taunted him. "Such low tricks from you. Taunting only works if done right. And clearly for all those brains you have, you lack the basics." Moving with speed behind the other he reached out to push Florian and then back around to put a knee to his face.
Florian’s reply:
“It’s not a trick, Thomson. Just being honest.” He stated bluntly and grunted as he was shoved then a knee connected with his face. *Fine* Florian would play this game. His hand darted out to grab Avery’s leg while it was in the air and used all his strength to slam the vampire to the ground.
Avery’s reply:
he looked down as the hand grabbed him and then he too was on the ground. Damn fucking hunters and their ability to keep up. He growled letting his claws come out as he lashed out intending to leave a good scar along the man’s face. But maybe for fun… Avery jumped on the other and wrestled with him until he got a clear shot. Biting down to puncture and hopefully get enough blood to use the power Florian could give him.
Florian’s reply:
The kresnik stumbled backwards from the others claws connecting with his face but the warrior would heal from it. As soon as he felt Avery on his back, Florian yelled and called down a flash of holy fire.
Avery’s reply:
Avery felt the fire and let go of the man. It stung something fierce. Jumping backwards he growled. His body was feeling a bit weak from that attack, but he couldn’t just give in. With everything he had Avery lunged at the other. His aim was for the throat to rip it apart.
Florian’s reply:
Florian knew that the holy fire would force Avery to let him go, with the created space between them. The kresnik thought about his next steps and a wicked grin crossed his face, pulling a handful of acontium aka wolfsbane out of his pocket; knowing that Avery’s werewolf half was affected by it. “Come here puppy. I have medicine for you.” He purred.

Untitled (“Happens a dozen time the Circumference signs”)
A sonnet sequence

Oh no I do not enjoy it, nor am I having fun. this show is mediocre at the best of times. I’m only watching it because my friend wants to and I like hanging out with him. Fairly sure that the only reason they DIDNT make their own original fantasy show is for the money that comes with the Brand of LotR.
Honestly, watching this show mostly just makes me sad. the few bits and pieces that ARENT complete and utter hot garbage mostly just show that like. This COULD have been a good show, maybe even a good adaptation, if the show runners actually gave a shit. But they didn’t, so it’s not. And then when the show manages to do something that isn’t terrible, it just makes me sad, because I can see that the show did have some potential to be good! There are moments where I think “wow, I think I almost had the emotional reaction that the writers intended there” and then my NEXT thought is always “wow this show could, and SHOULD have been so much better”. And I know that it could have because there are places where it IS better!
Real-talk: If the show were equally terrible the entire time, it wouldn’t make me sad in this specific way. The live action atla movie doesn’t, because it’s just bad. There isn’t a single thing in that movie that makes me go “oh, the whole movie could have been this good” because it is uniformly terrible, so I don’t mourn what it could have been. I don’t spend considerable amounts of time thinking about how poorly written Aang is, or thinking about how the earth kingdom prison storyline could have worked better if it was done differently, because it’s all shit! The live action ATLA is probably the worst movie I’ve ever seen, but it never gives me a reason to think that it ever had the potential to be good, so it doesn’t make me sad.
If RoP was like that, I would still hate it, but I wouldn’t be sad about it. If it was uniformly awful, I wouldn’t care. It would still be a shit show, but Id have no reason to think it could have been any better. But there are moments in RoP where it actually seems like the show knows what it’s doing. Some of the jokes have gotten a giggle out of me. There are a handful of characters who are well written enough that I actually kind of enjoy seeing them, even though their personalities aren’t completely accurate to the source material, to the point where I can almost-not-quite look past the fact that some of them probably shouldn’t be born yet. The Khazad-Dûm storyline is good enough that I’m actually somewhat interested to see where it’s going, because even if it diverges from Tolkien canon, the writing, pacing, characters, and conflicts are executed in such a way that I don’t think theyd feel too out of place in canon.
The few aspects of this story that are Kind Of Good really just highlight how the majority of the show is absolute garbage. Most of the characters are written SO badly, and not even in a “point and laugh” sort of bad. I don’t care about most of them, so I don’t care about what happens to them. The dialogue is bad most of the time, feeling very generic and cliche. This show is really sad to me because when I watch it, all I can think about is how it probably COULD have been really good, if the people in charge of this show gave a shit about the story they were planning on adapting, instead of about what they thought would be the most profitable.
So yeah, there’s just a lot of wasted potential in this show, and watching it makes me really sad.
(I’m really sorry that this got so long, I had more thoughts than I initially realized)
Rings of Power is slowly growing on me. Mostly like a tumor, gradually killing me
BUT as the show progresses, there have been a handful of things that might have actually been good if this were an original fantasy show and not a very shitty adaptation of lord of the rings. If I close my eyes and pretend that these characters have different names and this is a completely different world, i can almost pretend that this is just a mostly mediocre fantasy show
I know people can and do that, and if you do enjoy it, then that's great!
For me, I lived and breathed LOTR lore for close to ten years straight, and it's still constantly living in the back of my head. I can't separate it from Tolkien, it hurts too much.
But, same as with the Hobbit movies, if you're having fun, then have fun! That's great!
#like. the editing is solid#the visuals are nice#score is genuinely good#so like. clearly there WERE people working on the show that actually cared#but those people were not the ones calling the shots#it’s just sad#i wrote a research paper on this show#and analyzing it really just made it very clear that there were a lot of people working on RoP who genuinely cared about & love middle eart#who wanted the show to be good and do the source material justice#and like. id bet money that there are several people who worked on this show who ar#are absolutely devastated that RoP ended up as bad as it is#which just breaks my heart#because like. in a lot of the visual elements you can tell that the person who made it really did care#and even in some failed story beats I can TELL what the writers wanted to do but its like they were shot down#this show feels like a case where several of the people working on it put a lot of love into it&almost every trace of that love was scrubbe#*from the final product#oops this got long#florian watches rings of power

Shang-Chi! and the Rings of Daddy Murder Death!
When the trailer for this movie first came out, I was hyped! From the cast, to the bad ass bus scene, to Wong vs The Abomination,
I was sold!
Of course you had the people who came out saying "This is Marvel trying to be woke again. Hate crimes against Asian people on the rise, and here comes Marvel with Shang-Chi" We know this to be crazy, because Marvel already had this in the works, but certain people still reacted that way. But, even if that notion were true, would that be so bad?
It wouldn't absolve the ignorance, hatred, violence, and toxicity. But, if someone in Hollywood said "We've screwed over Asian people in films for like... ever. What if this time we choose a popular Asian character to base a movie on, and we DON'T do that?"
Now, (being that this movie supposedly leans on Chinese culture, with Shang-Chi being Chinese) China might argue that they still did them wrong (valid racist historical ptsd, cultural splicing, the whole martial arts thing, plus the main character is actually Canadian). It's not my place to weigh-in. But, I will say that making Shang-Chi Canadian, NOT a martial artist, but instead a hockey player, who loves Drake, and co-starring another Canadian, like Micheal Cera or someone
probably wouldn't have worked as well for the MCU. Then, maybe Canada would have a problem with Marvel. I don’t envy movie-makers in this context.
When I was a kid I was big into Black Belt Theater, Bruce Lee movies,
Bruce Leroy,
and within my love for martial arts and fighting entertainment was
Shang-Frickin-Chi.
I liked it, though I remember it being a lil racist. It's weird going back in time to see your fav childhood shows and books that wouldn't fly today:
I mean we've certainly been a lot more sensitive these days:
Regardless, Shang-Chi is here! (played by Canada's main man Simu Liu) He goes by the name of Shaun!
Don't let that name fool you. Shaun will whup that ass! He says "Bleep all those super powers, and serums, a suits, and magic, and the rubber bones of Widow! That's some ol bullshit! All I need is my Wu-Tang style!" A style fueled by his daddy issues. And he's got some serious daddy issues. To be fair, his dad is the villain of the story. If your father was the active villain of your story, you'd also have issues.
Awkwafina is his sidekick
(much better than Michael Cera would be), she plays as Katy. That's fun. Every Katy I've ever known has been fun... and a heavy drinker:) This Katy is here to drive fast and crack jokes.
Ladies and Gentlemen, your new Marvel duo!
It's not just daddy issues for Shang-Chi, but mommy issues (she dead), avoidance issues, his sister kicks him in the balls. He didn't even seem shocked. I mean, his balls were shocked, for sure, but it seemed like she just did that all of the time. I'm imagining Christmas when they were kids. "Here's your gift, bro. KNEE TO THE NUTS Merry Christmas" What kind of relationship is that? And why?! - well, he did abandon her for like 10 years, but... you know, that's plenty of time for her to get over it, right?? So, we'll say sister issues, his daddy training him to be an assassin issues, and his friends have issues with him! - AND KATY! They don't respect Marvel's new duo. They think Shaun and Katy should be doing more with their lives.
They are both valets during the day, and at night they rock drunken karaoke. That seems like the perfect life to me.
But, Daddy and his power rings couldn't allow them to keep living the dream. I haven't mentioned the ten rings yet.
They give him super-duper-magical martial arts powers, and make him eternal. AND made him an asshole.
To be fair, he was probably already an asshole before the powers. He's been killing a lot of people. You figure he's been around for 1000+ years. His wife is dead, and he has no hobbies. It's not like he kills a few people and then goes home to read a book, or play video games, or make TikTok videos. It's sunrise to sunset killing all day, every day for generations. Then, he forms an evil terrorist group called "Ten Rings" to amplify his killing.
"Murder Death Rings" are what they should be called.
"Daddy Death Punchy Time"
""Dead Doomy Rangs of Killer Dad"
"The Legendary Killer Rings of Deadly Death Death Murder Pops"
"The... " sorry, I've been drankin a lil bit while I write... I lost my place.
I like "Daddy Death" Where was I?
Right! He can't have Shaun being happy! We've gotta get this plot going, so he sends the only white dude he can find in this movie to start some trouble for them. I guess, there might have been a couple of more white people in the film, but they all got the snot beat out of them in that bus scene. This white dude's name is "Razor Fist", yep... "Razor Fist!".
At least they didn't stick to the original design.
Ridiculous. How does he use the bathroom?
He's played by Florian Munteanu, who is a former heavy weight boxer. Yeah! Was also in "Creed" his nickname is "The Big Nasty". Isn't that a drink? A bartender once offered me to sample a drink called "The Big Nasty". I chose to go with a drink that doesn't have "nasty" in its title. ... I think he was offering me a drink.
???
"Daddy Murder Death" and "Sharp Fisty Man" spark this thang. And Shaun becomes Shang-Chi, beater of ass!
The visuals in this movie are the best Marvel has done to date. The action is so good. I just got finished raving about the action in "Black Widow"; this surpasses that. I dug the cast. I know some people don't like Awkwafina, but... get over it. She was great in this; everybody was!
I loved the soundtrack! I'm not normally the "I loved the soundtrack guy" , but it was perfect. It begs to be mentioned.
No issues with the story. And the emotions that they're stirring in you. Whew!
One moment I'm enjoying the beater of ass, then Katy is making me laugh, then the slew of issues got me in my feelings, then the visuals wow me, then more swelling issues, back to ass beating - all the way through.
And the ending! True, Marvel has a formula (and this sticks to it), but if it ain't broken, why bleep with it?? The ending was Game of Thrones-ish, but with light so a brotha can see, and all the colors of the rainbow - like a Skittles commercial with martial arts. Fun! - so not like GOT at all, I guess. The only fun they had was when there was torture or prostitution going on.
I don't have anything bad to say about the movie. They could have shaved 5-10 mins off, but I won't take off for that; there's just too much to love about this!
Grade: A+
Fun for the whole family! I can see the fam working through some issues after the watch.
Daughter: "You know, Dad. That asshole dad of Shang-Chi kinda reminds me of you."
Mom: "Daughter! You do NOT talk to your father that way!"
Daughter: “Just sayin...”
Dad: "That's interesting, cuz his ungrateful, bitch of a daughter reminds me of YOU!"
Mother and Daughter: *gasp
Son: *laughs
Dad: "All I want you to do is take your school work seriously and maybe date a guy who doesn't smell like weed!"
Daughter: "I'll have you know that's his natural smell! And maybe I'd focus more on school, if I didn't have to focus on YOU being such a BLEEPING ASSHOLE, DAD!"
See, that's healthy dialogue, right there. Maybe the family that watches this movie buys mommy a bunch of guns for protection, so she doesn't end up dead like the mommy in this movie. Like a ridiculous amount of guns!
And I could see brother and sister kicking each other in the crotch to resolve their differences. BUT, if they're close-by, fighting each other, then there's no time to abandon one another.
Marvel does it again!
Whichever of the Marvel films is your favorite, this one will probably be up there as well.

I agree that Ned treated his daughters as more "child like" than his sons. Even then he had a scene with Arya, where he warned her of the danger they were in, winter is coming and the pack survives, all that. He bonded with Arya better than with Sansa. Among all his children, Sansa was the most sheltered one. No wonder, she was so naive!
One of my side-theories is that Sansa’s insistent preoccupation with love and songs, her escapism into fiction and her desire to trust in ideals, is related to Ned’s “bastard” son.
She is naturally romantically inclined, and she grew up witnessing her parents sharing a loving relationship. And at some point this happened:
He missed the girls too, even Sansa, who never called him anything but "my half brother" since she was old enough to understand what bastard meant. (AGOT, Jon III)
So Sansa, somewhat sheltered, learned about the meaning of bastard in a way that may have been similarly traumatizing to her as it was to Jon.
That morning he called it first. "I'm Lord of Winterfell!" he cried, as he had a hundred times before. Only this time, this time, Robb had answered, "You can't be Lord of Winterfell, you're bastard-born. My lady mother says you can't ever be the Lord of Winterfell."
I thought I had forgotten that. Jon could taste blood in his mouth, from the blow he'd taken. (ASOS, Jon XII)
Not on the same scale and not for the same reasons, of course.
But the realization that there was a chink in that love, and a very vicious power imbalance between her parents, would have been traumatizing for a Girl who knows her Destiny is to follow in her mother’s footsteps.
THIS is the mindset Cat grew up with:
Many men fathered bastards. Catelyn had grown up with that knowledge. It came as no surprise to her, in the first year of her marriage, to learn that Ned had fathered a child on some girl chance met on campaign. He had a man's needs, after all, and they had spent that year apart, Ned off at war in the south while she remained safe in her father's castle at Riverrun. Her thoughts were more of Robb, the infant at her breast, than of the husband she scarcely knew. He was welcome to whatever solace he might find between battles. And if his seed quickened, she expected he would see to the child's needs. (…) She had come to love her husband with all her heart, but she had never found it in her to love Jon. She might have overlooked a dozen bastards for Ned's sake, so long as they were out of sight. (AGOT, Catelyn II)
The mindset of duty, of sexism, of pragmatism. It is an ugly mindset for romance. There is a contradiction there that cannot be resolved between them because Ned never gives Catelyn a resolution on Jon. He refuses to share information and he refuses to spare her the sight of the son of the “woman he loved” and apparently cannot let go of. So his mother remains and shadow and Jon remains a thorn in her side. Catelyn can not do anything about it. Ned has all the power. This power Imbalance, and Ned’s willingness to take Advantage of it, is anathema to romance. Cat blocks it out, most of the time, because it is how she was taught to live.
But the expectation of infidelity and pragmatism is not the marriage Sansa and Arya witness, the idea of marriage they are shown by their parents.
He looked at her uncomfortably. “My aunt Allyria says Lady Ashara and your Father fell in love at Harrenhal—” “That’s not so. He loved my lady mother.” “I’m sure he did, my lady, but—” “She was the only one he loved.” “He must have found that bastard under a cabbage leaf, then,” Gendry said behind them. Arya wished she had another crabapple to bounce off his face. “My father had honor,” she said angrily. “And we weren’t talking to you anyway. Why don’t you go back to Stoney Sept and ring that girl’s stupid bells?” (ASOS, Arya VIII)
Arya deflects, she cannot resolve the contradiction there, either. Because it shadowed the marriage of their parents.
So, Sansa - and this is another beautifully wrought example of trauma shared in the family and wreaking havoc on everyone - grows up with the necessity of accepting and blocking out contradictions. Her father is a good man, so his absolute power and his use of it cannot a bad thing. But Jon clearly causes her mother emotional pain, so this contradiction must be blocked out. Arya does the same, never ever having dwelled on where Jon came from, while still deeply aware of how bastardy is a bad thing.
When Arya had been little, she had been afraid that meant that she was a bastard too. It had been Jon she had gone to in her fear, and Jon who had reassured her. (AGOT, Arya I)
“Half-brother”, Sansa will always insist on calling Jon, never bastard and never full brother, a compromise, but that is the extent of what we see on that subject. There is zero textual evidence of any animosity between them.
And yet we have Sansa dreaming of romance, of Jonquil and Florian, of Aemon and Naerys, of knightly valor, of true knights.
She pulled a chair close to the hearth, took down one of her favorite books, and lost herself in the stories of Florian and Jonquil, of Lady Shella and the Rainbow Knight, of valiant Prince Aemon and his doomed love for his brother's queen. (AGOT, Sansa IV)
This is her coping mechanism with trauma.
Learning about the power imbalance between men and women, between her parents, about her potential future of having to bear humiliations and infidelity from her husband with no recourse, that may well be one of the roots of her “head in the clouds” insistence on romance and songs. It may be one of the roots of her somewhat distant relationship with Ned, too.
If her life is a song, then her future husband will be a source of truth and of love without abusing the power he is legally bestowed on her.
Of course, starting in his first chapter, Ned proceeds to arrange the opposite for her:
"Gods, Catelyn, Sansa is only eleven," Ned said. "And Joffrey … Joffrey is …" (…) "Sansa must wed Joffrey, that is clear now, we must give them no grounds to suspect our devotion.” (AGOT, Catelyn II)
He outright hands her over to a family he distrusts, to a future husband he knows is not kind, for pragmatic reasons. He uses his absolute power over her in a very careless way.
I think it is pretty reasonable to assume that Arya’s rejection of the entire Concept may be rooted in the exact same traumatic realization. Unlike Sansa, her Coping mechanism is to back away from the female social role altogether. Ned is equally unhelpful with that until he at last grants her lessons with Syrio Forel. He never has the Chance to make up for his mistakes with Sansa.
Ned and Cat’s marriage, and Sansa and Arya’s reaction to the visible power imbalance is such a big aspect of GRRM’s feminist message in the books. Jon unlearning at least parts of his sexism, his relationship with Arya, his respect for different facets of feminine power, his appreciation of soft power and his failure as an “absolute monarch” when he “kills the boy” as Lord Commander at the Watch, as well as Sansa’s journey examining the feminine social role and power abuse in general, all of that is a dismantling of the Hero and the Lady in oldschool romances. Deconstructing and reconstructing.
They are all being reforged, like Ice, pared down. Oathkeeper goes to Brienne, the true Knight. Widow’s Wail stays behind.

Dominique
---------------------------------------------------------------
Wednesday, 11:50 p.m.
The five bedroom and six bathroom house belong to one of the top names in boxing as of 2020, Florian Munteau, and his wife, Kia Ford-Munteau. Kia was also well known due to her father, Ernest Ford, who made the first black owned grand hotel in Las Vegas: Black Wall Street. He name it that in honor of the massacre of Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma to show that Black Wall Street is back better than ever.
In the master bedroom, you could here the bed frame hitting the back of the wall and the couple loud moans.
“ Big Nasty, right there baby!” Kia moan under her husband.
Florian was pounding in her and not giving her any breaks.
“ Fetiță , you better take it!” Florian stated with his thick, deep accent that was lower than usual.
As the couple started to get into it, Kia’s phone rang with the signature Kim Possible ringtone.
Florian and Kia both knew who was that calling her. That ringtone meant her boss.
“ Flo, you know I have to get that!” Kia moan out more with her eyes rolling in the back of her head.
Florain pound in her looking at his wife that was under him. With her eyes close and moaning, that help Florian drowned out the phone in the background.
With the phone stopping, Kia started to take control. As she start riding Florian, her phone started again making the same ringtone. Kia knew that was going to happen, so that why she made sure she was in control.
Kia hoped off Florian, who was a groaning mess, and picked up the phone.
“ Hi dad!” Kia answered the phone in a hush tone while looking at Florian in the eye.
Florian just looked at his wife of two years, and knew what was about to happen. Her father going to call her to come to his house and help him with something. With that, Kia would try and stay home, but her father talk her into to leaving the house.
Florian knew that Ernest didn’t like him when Kia and him started to first date. However, after they got married, Ernest made sure that he tried to keep Kia away from Florian by making her check up on him or do work things.
“ Daddy, why can’t you let your new wife do it?” Kia questioned her father, and avoiding eye contact with Florian as much as possible.
Since Florian knew what Kia was going to do, he got out of the couple’s bed and went into the bathroom to finish his manhood.
“ Well, Kia, I want my babygirl to do it! Plus, her name is Alexis!” Ernest asserted the last part in with his gruff voice. Ernest looked at Alexis, who heard what Kia said.
“ Daddy, I am not going to call that girl by her name! I can’t believe you would marry somebody that could possibly be my older sister!” Kia shouted back her father while putting on her leggings.
Kia’s mother died almost fifteen years ago due to a bad car accident. With that, Alexis came in the picture four years ago. She was three years older than Kia, 31, and was a showgirl for one of Black Wall Street musicals.
One day, Kia and Ernest came to see the performance and it went on from their. Alexis actually had true love for Ernest, but Kia just saw a young girl trying to get her daddy’s riches.
“ Well if we want to talk about people that we married. Why you married what his name, Flo Rida!” Ernest roared as he got up from bed. Alexis saw that and knew that he was going to raise his blood pressure.
“ You know who you should have married! Dominque Powers! Dominque is the best neurosurgeon in the United States! May I also say that he is black!” Ernest shouted even louder over the phone.
“ Dad!” Kia shouted backed while looking at the floor. She knew that Florian also heard from the sound of the door opening as he said that. Kia looked up to the bathroom door, and saw Florian face.
Florian shook his and went to his side of the bed.
“ Daddy, you know that you can’t talk about him like that!” Kia croaked out from the tears holding back in her eyes.
“ Well he can’t understand English no way!” Ernest threw back, with Alexis hitting him on his chest. Alexis truly cared for Kia and Florian’s relationship and it hurt that her husband was seemly trying to destroy his only daughter’s relationship.
When Florian heard that comment: he snapped. Florian got up from his side of the bed, and went over to Kia’s side. Kia saw as Florian walked over to her with anger bouncing off his muscles.
Florian tooked the phone out of her hands and spoked into the phone.
“ Well Mr.Ernest, I can speak English after all. With that, I find it very disrespectful to say that about your daughter’s husband! With that, Kia will not be coming over!” Florian angrily yelled in the phone and gave it back to Kia.
Kia looked at her husband like he is crazy. She loves when he is all hot and angry and it made her a little wet. However, she could hear her father cussing on the phone.
As Florian got back to his side of the bed and got under the covers, Kia put the phone back up to her ear.
“ Kia, you just going let that man speak that way to me! Kia, you better be here in the next hour!” Ernest screamed and hung up the phone.
Kia shook her head and put the phone down on her nightstand on her side. Kia looked at Florian, whom was just turning on the TV to watch ESPN talking about the fight that was this week that was involving him.
“ Florian, știi că nu poți vorbi cu tatăl meu așa!” Kia blurted out with anger and sadness in her voice due to her having to choose sides once again. (Florian, you know that you can't talk to my father like that!)
When Florian heard that, he turn and glared at Kia. He saw that Kia was putting on her shoes.
“ Kia, când voi fi prima dată în viața ta! El a fost așa de când ne-am reunit! atunci îți ridică fostul! Am fost departe de tine de două luni, pregătindu-mă pentru lupta vieții mele! Tot ce vreau să fac este să fac dragoste soției mele, în ziua în care ovulează și să rămână însărcinată! Cu toate acestea, știu că soția mea va pleca la fel cum a spus-o tatăl ei!” Florian hollered out with him looking at Kia the whole time.
(Kia, when will I be first in your life! He has been like that since we got together! Then he brings up your ex! I have been away from you for two months, training for the fight of my life! All I want to do is make love to my wife, on the day that she is ovulating, and get her pregnant! However, I know my wife is going to leave just like her dad said so!)
Florian huffed out and turn back to the TV and turn it up. Kia knew that he was angry due to him replying back in his native langue.
“ Florian, you know I love you! However, my dad relies on me! So, I am going to go over there, and I’m sorry that we couldn’t make love like I wanted us to do too!” Kia yelled while trying to be louder than the TV.
Florian laughed to himself thinking that Ernest have Alexis, who is a sweet and genuine person that cares for him. Out of three of Ernest children, Kia is the only one that doesn’t cares for Alexis and Ernest knows that. With that, he know that Kia will come over to make sure that everything is okay at the house even when Alexis know how to do it.
Kia huffed and went to the seats at the end of the bed and grabbed her purse. She looks back at Florian, who was staring at her, and went quickly out the door.
Florian already knew that she was going to choose her father over him.
She always did.
Florian looked back the TV and saw him and Brooks Jones on the screen. After the success of Creed II, a manager reach out to him about boxing due to them looking at some of his amateur tapes from Romania.
With that, Florian became a household legend after he KO, Tito Jones, a person who had a 49 winning streak, but was ended by Florian.
After that, Florian been having him a winning streak himself: 9-0. This next fight would be hard one due to Brooks Jones being a dominant fighter that had to move to Florian weight class due to being “ dangerous”.
He have KO ever last one of his opponents since the beginning of his career.
As Florian watch the ESPN special on his fight with Brooks, he looked over to the other side of the bed.
He has been use to Kia choosing her father over him. However, now it was really hard for Florian to cope with it due to him and Kia wanting to have a family. Florian shooked the tear from his eyes and turn off the TV.
With that, he turn off the lamp on his side of the bed.
All he could think of was how he was always second on Kia’s list to her father and she was always first on his.

Kia woke up from her bed, to her phone ringing. She looks at the phone and see that Alexis is calling her. She put back on the nightstand and turn to look over and saw no Florian there.
She knew he wasn’t go to be there due to him having training at 4:15 in the morning to prepare for the fight in the next two days.
Kia layed back down on her side to go back to sleep. As she did that, Florian walked in their room. Florian walked over to bathroom without closing the french doors.
Kia turn that way to looked at her husband.
Florian, not knowing that his wife was looking, took off his shorts and briefs. With that, Florian turn the shower on and walked back to the sink to wash his face.
Kia looked at her husband’s manhood with her bottom lips moisten. Florian went back into the shower to clean himself up.

This time Kia knew that she had to answer that phone because that was her dad calling. Kia relucantly picked it up and answered it.
“ Kia, my only daughter, I want to thank you for coming over to make that pecan pie for me!” Ernest shouted with much joy while in his office at the hotel looking over that Vegas Strip.
“You welcome dad, however you can’t just call me to come over to make a pecan pie in the middle of the night.” Kia mumbled to last part to her dad. Ernest sighed and got up from his chair and looked out side.
“ Did Flo-Rida, put you up to this?” Ernest demanded for an answer. Kia sighed and shook her head.
“ Daddy, no he did not! I haven’t seen Florian for two months due to training and we haven’t had much alone time.” Kia said with much sadness behind her voice. As she turn her head back to the bathroom, she saw Florian walking out with his towel around his waist.
She then looks up to his face and saw him looking at her.
Kia was wearing a sports bra and sweatpants, one of Florian favorite outfits on her due to it being is accessible.
“ Well that is not my problem that he have to leave. One thing I know is Dominquie wouldn’t be gone for two months!” Ernest threw backed at Kia.
“ Daddy, we are not talking about that! I just see you later when I get to the office.” Kia said with annoyance from her father bringing up her ex. With that, she ended the called.
She looked back to the bathroom and saw no Florian there. She got up and put on her house shoes and went to the couple’s closet to see if he was in there.
She saw Florian’s towel on the floor, on his side of the closet, picking out an outfit to pick up his family from the airport.
Florian turned around and capture his wife’s eyes looking at him. He looks at her and then turned back around.
“ So we really are doing that Florian.” Kia snapped at Florian while going over to her side of the closet.
Silence.
With that, Kia turned around and looked to see her husband’s back and ass.
Kia knew that she going have to apologize and she knew the trick that always work.
Kia walked over to behind her husband and start tracing his back.
“I’m sorry Flo!” Kia mimicked to make her voice to go up a pitch. With that, she start rubbing down to his lower back.
She knew that he was tired and his muscles was aching due to his tough training.
“ Flo, I am truly sorry! I can show how much I am really sorry.” Kia purred out while starting to rub on Florian’s sides and then going down the front of his thigh.
With Florian still not budging, Kia had to move her plan to Level 3.
She start going for his manhood.
As she got to his manhood, she start rubbing his shaft in one hand and his balls in the other.
Florian stopped reaching for the shirt that he wanted due to his wife. Kia knew how much Florian loves handjobs. Even though Florian loves his manhood around Kia’s mound. He also loves her warm, small hands around his manhood.
“ I’m so sorry Big Nasty.” Kia whispered out while feeling Florian get hard. Kia then went back to kissing his back.
“ Kia.” Florian purred out with his hands wrap behind him holding onto Kia’s sweat pants. As Florian started to feel himself get harder, he went back to taking control.
He turn around and picked up his wife and put her on the counter in the middle of the closet. He went to kiss her lips fighting for dominance.
Florian of course won.
“ Are you still ovulating?” Florian ask in between kissing Kia. Kia hesitant and kept trying to fight for dominance.
Florian went down Kia’s neck and gave her love bits all over.
Kia looked at the clock that was on Florian’s side and saw the time, 8:30, which Florian was suppose to leave to pick up his family.
“ Florian you got to leave!” Kia moaned while enjoying the attack on her neck by her husband.
Florian stops and looked back the clock and realize that he should have been leaving ten minutes ago due to the Las Vegas traffic.
“ Shit!” Florian cussed while rushing to put on the clothes that he took out for himself. Kia sat on the chair and watch him.
Kia wanted to have a baby, but her dad was in her ear about Florian. Ernest told Kia that Florian could just want to have a baby with you and leave with the baby and some of her fourtne.
Kia didn’t believe that, but it was always in the back of her head. Florian finish putting on his clothes and rush up to put on his shoes. As he was putting on his shoes, he looked at Kia, whom was looking out at space.
“ Prinţesă , what you thinking about?” Florain said while rushing to putt on his cologone. Kia snapped out of her thoughts and smile at him.
“ Nothing, baby, just thinking about me and you!” Kia shouted with happiness in her voice while walking to Florian. Florian turn around and wrap his hands around Kia’s waist.
“ How much longer are you ovulating?” Florian question while looking at Kia. Kia looked in his eyes and stated, “ Four more days.”
Florian smiled and start kissing Kia on the lips.
“ Well that mean after the fight I win. My prinţesă and I will be making lots of love in this sound proof room.” Florian said in between kisses.
“ Florian you better leave before your bother and Tata kill you for being late!” Kia laughed to move to the topic away from the statement. Florian let go and looked at Kia.
“ Well you are right! I see ya later and love you!”Florian kissed Kia on the cheek and smack her butt. Kia waited for Florian to run downstairs and out the door. Kia ran to the window facing the driveway and saw Masias, Sandro, and Florian driving away the three Mercedes Vans to pick up Florian’s family.
Kia ran over to her purse to find her birth control. Throughout the time Kian and Florian been trying for a baby this pass year, Kia have been taking birth control to make sure nothing happens.
Kia knew that it would hurt Florian to know, but right now is not the best time for them to have a kid due to Kia not wanting to hear her dad. Kia knew she was not doing the right thing, but she didn’t know if she should believe her father or not.
After taking the pill, she went inside her closet to put on her clothes for work. With that, thirty minutes later, Kia was done with all of her hygiene she left with her purse and phone.
However, she left her birth control on one of the seats in her bedroom.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kia drive up to Black Wall Street into her assign parking spot. Kia got out of her Merecdes G- Wagon and made her way into the hotel.
As she walking to the elevator, she wave at every last one of the employees. Some of the employess at the hotel have seen Kia grown up in front of their eyes.
All the employees love Kia due to her fun and sweet personality and loves when she is at the hotel. Kia finally got to the elevator and went up to the office floor.
As she got to the floor, she was bombarded by her two oldest brothers, Sean and Ross.
Sean
Ross
“ Kia, what did dad’s favorite child do this morning to make him angry?” Ross snapped at his younger sister while walking towards her office.
Kia sighed and shook her head.
“Well you are the favorite. From me being the gay son, which he don’t accept when people bring it to his attention. To Ross, not wanting to own the family hotel!” Sean said in a matter of fact attiude.
As Kia got to her office, she went to her desk and sat down. She stared at her brothers as they walked over to her and sat in the two chairs in her office in front of her.
“ Well I hung up on him after he brought up Dominique.” Kia stated as she crossed to see her brothers’ reaction.
They were unreadable, which is rare because Kia could read them in a second.
As she was about to speak, Alexi walked into her office.
“ Hi you guys! Kia, ummm, you know your dad got diabetes,” Alexis stammered across her words, “ I think you should have not made that pecan pie for him last night.” Alexis finished with authority, like she practice this morning in the car.
Kia looked at Alexis and laughed.
Now, Alexis wasn’t expecting that and it made her angry that she laughed at her. Alexis looks towards the brother and saw that they shocked to by their sister’s reaction.
“ Well Miss. Thang, I am going to do whatever my father tells me to do and you can’t do nothing about that!” Kia bellowed with much anger against Alexis.
“ Well, will you let your father continue to ruin your marriage?” Alexis snapped back at Kia. That comment really got under Kia’s skin.
Kia got up from her desk, with Ross getting up with her to makes sure she don’t attack Alexis, she went to the door heading for her dad’s office.
Alexis was right after her, and all the employees watch the two women storm to the boss’s office.
“ I don’t think you want to go in there Kia!” Alexis shouted at Kia. Even though Alexis took the low blows from Kia, she didn’t want her to get hurt.
“ Why because my father is going to see your wrong!” Kia rebutted back Alexis while reaching for the door knob.
As she open it, she saw the person that was her first love, and first everything talking to her father.
“ Dominique!” Kia croak out with a look of surprise on her face.
Dominique turn around and got out his chair and walk to her.
“ Babygirl, still looking good!” Dominqiue replied back while for going in for the hug.
“ Ah shit, Florian is going to be piss!” Sean yelled out with Ross hitting him upside his head.
However, Kia was frozen, she didn’t know what to do.
------------------------------------------------------
Welll then.....
Who is the villian in this? Kia? Ernest? Both?
Kia is still taking birth control behind Florian’s back!
What y’all think of Kia?
What y’all think about Alexis?
The big shocker, DOMINIQUE IS BACK
Why is he is back? Did Ernest brought him back? Enrest trying to ruin Florian and Kia’s marriage?
----------------------------------------
Hope y’all enjoyed the first chapter!!!! Please comment, reblog, and like!!!

Alone in nightfall, together in the dawn
A drabble entry for @bleusarcelle last sunrise Klance contest!
By: EnlacingLines
It’s not always easy to sleep when your head is full of war.
It’s the duty of a knight to fight; Keith knew this long before he took the title. He wouldn’t give up his past for the world, for his past has shaped his present; the present in which he is happier than he ever believed he could be.
But still, that past, it creeps. Creates a web of tangled smoke screens, scenes he knows and others fantastically grotesque in their imagined horror; churning flashes and feelings that split his head into pieces and banish slumber.
Tonight is such a night. Keith wanders the castle, cool in it’s hours before daybreak, the rays of lightened twilight signalling dawn is approaching but not quite ready. He pauses at a window, reassures himself that the shadows wane, the deepness of the dark recedes.
As it is easy for the mind to trick itself in the darkest point of the night, and believe the sun will not rise again.
In his restlessness, he checks on Florian. His charge, his Prince, his son in all sense that matters. He sleeps though, untroubled and deeply, even with a small smile. His dreams do not ravish, do not produce phantoms and Keith will do whatever is in his power to make sure this boy will never, ever, know how that feels.
At almost nine though, he is so grown. The years have passed in a blink of an eye and soon Florian will no longer be a child. Keith waits a moment longer, watches his dark hair flicker from his face as he spins once but does not wake.
He has so much love for his small family. So much it mostly fills the cracks and fissures still caught in his mind. Nights like this are so few and far between, but they sting most powerfully when they occur.
As he walks back towards his bedroom, his hand unconsciously winds around the necklace under his shirt. He traces the seashell Lance gave him at the start of their courting, now suspended by a cord from his neck. It is a constant presence in his life, in a similar manner to the weight of the band around his fourth finger. Both mean so much, he could not part with either.
He thumbs the ridges, backwards, forward and once again as he walks, the blue hues streaming from the windows melting into lightness, and Keith trusts that with them, they will banish the shadows tracing his steps; memories and fragments he wishes would fade completely.
When he enters their room once more, it’s as silently as he can, not wishing to wake his husband. However, his efforts are in vain for he sees Lance sleepily smile at him, sitting up against the headboard as he enters.
“I was wondering where you’d gone. Can’t sleep?”
Lance’s voice is still warm from dreaming and Keith fades into it, returns to the bed and cannot help but press a kiss to his lips, chaste and fleeting like a feather fall in the air. Lance’s smile of delight is still muted by sleep, but he opens his arms and Keith falls into them.
“The dreams again,” Keith says, his voice sounding harsh, a mention of monsters in their sanctuary.
Lance hums, arms tightening and moves one hand to his hair, carding through and lulling him if not to drowsiness, then to contentment and comfort.
“You’re with me, Keith. You aren’t there anymore. You’re safe and home. Nothing can hurt you here.”
Keith inhales deeply, the scent of his place in the world; so far from the drag and pull of the terrors of the night, the arms of his husband wrapped around him, grounding him in their time, in their place.
He doesn’t try to sleep. Lance dozes, in and out, Keith pressing occasionally kisses to his hand where Lance’s matching ring lies. A symbol of how far they’ve come and how far he is from the incidents that try to circle, desperate for scraps of his heart they cannot take.
For it is full of love for this present, nothing left to give to the past, no matter how much his ghost may try to fight for it.
Darkness vanishes, and the day dawns anew. For although it may seem unlikely, the sunrise will always come again.

_____________
It was 3 am, dark and eerily quiet. Only the sound of my Sunter oscillating floor fan being on, and Florian’s occasionally snoring, could be heard. He took my offer on staying at my condo, instead of a hotel when he’d come to New York. Missing him from going back and forth from here to Munich, Germany, did some things to me. I never felt like this in a while about someone.
Only thing I could see in the dark from the moon, peaking through the window shades, was my big brown bear with an ‘I Wuv You’ pillow attached to it. Florian has shipped it to me from visiting his family.
He’s done something to brighten up my life, that I didn’t think needed to be brighten up. I couldn’t sleep. I could never sleep around 3 am and there’s a reason for that.
It had been a couple months or so, nearly in March now with the spring weather, and things were starting to look up a bit. That is until the gut wrenching moments with Jake happened. The bad memories came flooding back and the nightmares became worse, and worse. It came at least once or twice a month, but now they’re more frequent.
Around this same time I’d have the same recurring nightmare: me losing my baby girl at just 16 weeks. I let the dream play out this time. Normally I’d wake up in different scenes.
I was at work with a client and my phone rang to a news flash. Typical news about politics, and crazy folks. At the time time Jake and I weren’t on speaking terms due to his infidelity. I went home that day, around noon, to an infuriated Jake.
“Where the hell have you been?!” He yelled in my face,’I could smell the alcohol on his breath. This wasn’t the first time I say him this frustrated.
This time it was his job at a restaurant; he got fired, again. He always blames me for his misfortunes when I’ve been holding him up. I’ve been there for him time and time again.
“At work. Where else would a 3 ½ month pregnant lady be? I have bills to pay Jacob, and a baby to feed soon.” Apparently he didn’t like the hint of attitude in my voice, because the next thing I knew I was being thrown against a wall with force.
The wind was knocked out of me; my throat was sore from screaming and he was in my face.
“You know where you need to be at all times. You are MINE, and no one else’s.”
“We’re separated remember? Or did you forget?! Hey out of my face and out of my house now.” I pushed passed him, on my way upstairs, till I felt an even more powerful force push me down. I had landed on my stomach, the pain was too much to bear.
I froze in place, crying and praying to the heavens, hoping that my little Angelique would be alright.
“Geneva? Oh my god, please come on baby.” Jake was frantic, picking me up and taking me to the car. Making our way to the hospital I was in too much shock to love around.
Several hours later of being in the room, the doctor gave em the final verdict. It was too much damage to be done for my baby. I was stunned. Too traumatized to even move. The doctor gave us some time to ourselves, after the procedure was done.
Jake reaches out to touch my hand and I draw back from him.
“Don’t. Touch. Me.” I seethed through my teeth, not even glancing in his general direction. I could tell he grew impatient with me, by the way he yanked my head to face him.
“If you weren’t so disobedient, we’d have a baby soon. But you just had to defy me and get hurt. I thought you loved me, Geneva.”
“I do. But you make- you’re blaming this on me? You’re blaming the death of our baby on me?!” My anger surfaced as my parents walked through the door.
Jake was faster than they were, because he tried to choke me. His grip was too tight, my nails dig deep in his arms. Deep enough to draw blood. My dad was pulling him off, with my mother in tow. My vision grew dark, I couldn’t move again. All I could hear were my parents screaming for the doctors to come help. The nightmare ended.
I woke up screaming in the dark, causing Florian to wake up abruptly and be on the lookout. I felt bad for waking him up but I’m glad he did.
“Geneva? Is everything ok?” He held me close to his chest, as I cried in heavy sobs. I finally let the dream play out. I explained to him what my dream was, his rage about my ex increased ten fold.
Pulling me close to his chest even more, he mumbled something in German as she rocked me back and forth. He couldn’t fathom how any may would I ever lay his hands on a woman like that. Pregnant or not. He know his own mother would be livid if he went that route.
“I vow to this very day, he won’t come near you. I know you gave me the green light to rough him up, and I did, but I need full control Genevieve. I need to you give me full control, my love.” The sincerity in his voice was calming. It was as if he was sent from the gods to protect me. As he caressed my cheek, I kissed his hand on instinct, holding on to his hand.
Looking into his soft green eyes, the moonlight shining through the windowed curtains, making them glow with love. Upon resting my head on his, he snaked his arms around my waist.
“You made a promise to keep me safe and I believe you. So without question, I give you full control, Florian. Full, control.” Whispering against his lips, he smiled at me genuinely and held me close. He fell back against the fluffy pillows, taking me along with him. The still calmness made it easier for me to fall asleep next to him.
I think I’ll keep him a little while longer.
-The Next Day-
“Ain’t no way in hell! You can’t do that!”
“The hell I can’t. House rules cuzzo, house rules. Now draw your 4 and the color is red.”
“You ain’t right.”
Game night has been a tradition in my family for generations. To keep it alive, I had the crew come by my half finished apartment, along with the typical game night food. First game of the night was Uno. Not just any old game of Uno, it was Uno Flip. It brought out the worst in people but it was all in fun.
“Now she taught me this game last night, simply because it’s new, and even I knew she’d say ‘house rules.’ ” Florian was invited as well, why wouldn’t I invite the guy that I heard beat up my ex?
“You trained him well, sis. I like him.” Nefertiti, Winston’s girlfriend of 3 years, was always the insightful one of the group. She was always busy with her stylist job, but when she has time she comes back home and chill.
“Yeah but you still can’t do that. Cheater.” Mike mumbled under his breath, which earned him a smack upside his head by Johari.
My dog Dragon, my reddish-brown Pomsky, was asleep in his kennel in the laundry room. He loved it when Florian came over to visit, because he had someone big and strong to play with. He clearly loved the fact that I had someone too.
The vibes were perfect for a night in with no responsibilities. I was already out of the game so watching was always my forte. Joahri was looking at Florian and I, as I was snuggled into his side as he played the card game.
“So what are y’all exactly? Cause y’all for sure as hell, ain't friendship with benefits. Y’all emotions are too attached.” The question threw me off, because I started choking on my Seagram's Jamaican Me Crazy wine cooler. Johari was never one to hold back, and that’s what Mike loved about her.
Florian couldn’t help but chuckle and rub my back a little to calm me down.
“Uh well. We’ve just been hanging out lately. Enjoying each other’s company.” I looked to Florian to help.
“We like hanging out with each other. I enjoy her company and she enjoys mine. Why put a label on things?” He explained a bit further and the look on Jojo’s face was unwavering. She wasn’t falling for it at all. Heating the doorbell ring, we were saved by the bell.
“What he said, labels aren’t needed. Imma get the door.” What did I want? I wanted him but I couldn’t say it yet. Answering the door, Cynthia and John stepped in, along with Destiny and Ryan. Filling the room with more love.
Just by the look on Florian’s face and the tone of his voice from earlier, he seemed to want things to go further that what they were. I couldn’t tell.
Did I want things to go further? I’m still married to the asshole who won’t sign the papers. Maybe it is time for a new outlook on life.
-Florian’s POV-
Did I want Geneva to be mine? Did I want her to feel safe; secured, loved and wanted? Did I want her away from Jake anyway? Yes I did.
I didn’t want her to feel unwanted anymore. I can’t stand seeing her hurt anymore either. With all the stories I’ve heard about Jake, and how he’s mistreated her. I just knew I had to make things right for her.
While she was distracted with the girls in the kitchen, I had to ask the guys for some help with a very creative strategy.
“Guys, I need your help with something.” I was nervous to say the least. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before and I think it’s time I make my feelings known.
“What’s up? You need help asking Geneva to be your girl?” Mike went straight to the point.
“Oh you tryin to ask our sis to be your girl? This outta be good.” Ryan chuckled gently, glancing around the room real quick.
“Well since we’re playing games tonight, got anything in mind?” Winston asked curiously. I had never met Winston fully, just in brief passing with Mike at parties.
“How about scrabble? We each form a word for me ask, I’ll take the last word.” Letting the guys know my plan, they all were in agreement and helped set up the board.
The guys gathered the game up and set it up. I had a necklace in my hoodie pocket I was gonna give her tonight anyway. Now was the best time.
“What y’all up to?” Once I heard that angelic voice I had to move fast, giving every team their pieces.
“Just getting ready to play scrabble. We’re doing teams, so little mama come here.” The slight blush on her caused the whole group to chuckle, as I placed her on my lap on the floor.
“Team scrabble? Interesting. Alright I’ll play.”
-Geneva’s POV-
The game went on for about an hour or so. My ass was getting sore from sitting so long, so I had to get up to so I could stretch. Placing a kiss on Florian’s head, I made sure to give him some love.
“Y’all need anything while I’m up?” Making my way to the kitchen, I grabbed the empty plates and cups. Turning up the volume on the speaker a bit.
“A few beers and Seagrams. I’ll come with ya.” Johari got up to help me while the others continued to play the game.
“So what’s up with you and Florian? Foreal sis come on now. No games, no shade.” Leaning against the counter, sighed gently with a smile.
“I like him. We mesh well together and he’s great company. I do kinda wanna date him though, it’s only fair since Jake moves on.” I started biting my lip thinking of all the moments Florian and I have shared over the last few months.
“You should! It’s your time now. Plus he sounds like a keeper.” Johari was glancing back into the game from for some reason.
“Gege! Come on it’s your turn with Florian!”
“Coming! He is. We should get back to the game.” Grabbing the bottles, making our way back to the game, I snuggled back in Florian’s lap. He moved to the couch this time.
For some reason the room was more mellow than normal, and the girls were giddy. What was going on?
“Alright. Mike went; Winston went next, Ryan and John. Now it’s my turn.” Florian explained and kissed my cheek. I was too preoccupied with my phone.
My mom had texted me about graduation, and when it was. I kept forgetting to let the family know about the date and time. Florian took his turn and tapped my thigh to let me know.
“Alright guys we are all out of tiles. I’ll tally up the scores.” Grabbing the notepad and pen, I glanced at the board once or twice. I saw something and I didn’t know if I was reading it right.
The group was minding their own business, till I got their attention by reading everything out loud.
“ ‘Will you be my girlfriend?’ How did y’all- oh my god.” I immediately looked at Florian with tearful eyes and the group erupting in cheers.
“Couldn’t think of a better way to ask, with the blessing of your friends of course, and Mike. So Geneva, will you?” Florian’s soft voice pulled me in, as the sounds hushed around us.
All I could focus on was him and him alone. Holding his face in my hands; taking in his after rain scent and resting my forehead on his I knew I was home. With him I was always home.
“Yes. I’ll be your girl, Florian.” Kissing him with everything in me, he held me close to his hard body but he felt soft in my hands.
“Ahem. Y’all we got others games to play.” Mike cleared his throat, before having to pulling us apart.
“Sorry. Oh Geneva, turn around real quick.”
I did as instructed and felt cold metal hit my neck. Glancing down, I noticed my zodiac sign around my neck, shining in the light of the ceiling fan. He clamped it shut and turned me back around.
“Perfect fit. Alright now, let’s play.” Kissing me gently, Florian busted out Jenga.
-3 games and yelling matches later-
It’s an intense game of Jenga going on. It was my turn to go, and I was nervous as hell.
“Ok babe. You got this. Don’t be nervous.” A little encouragement from the new boo, made it even worse.
Pulling the block from middle, watching the tower lean for he left I got nervous and it all came tumbling down.
“In that rubble, lies our relationship.” The mocking hey joking tone of his voice, caused me to smile.
“Ok Kyle.” Patting his cheek gently, I was gifted with a gorgeous smile that he is never afraid to show. The smile that would put the stars on Egypt to shame.
His type of smile though, was like no other. His smile was so bright and happy; full of life and wonder. Like a kid in a candy store, or a kid on Christmas Day. His smile was truly contagious.
John nodded towards Florian, to grab his attention. “Hey Florian can I ask you something?”
“Sure. What’s up?” Draping his arm around my shoulder, drawing me closer.
“Seeing as though Jake fucked up everything for himself, I want you to be one of my groomsmen. I see how well you’ve been treating Geneva and I think you should walk down the aisle with her. You’ve gained a friend in me.” He paused a bit and did the typical bro handshake with him.
“You’ve gained a brother from Ryan and I. Welcome to the group man.”
The look on his face was priceless and full of pure excitement. He couldn’t have been happier to be included.
“I’d be honored John. I’d love to walk with Geneva.” I felt his lips on my forehead, making my body feel all all warm and inviting.
“Game over let’s do something else. Mortal Kombat anyone?” Breaking my concentration wasn’t ever easy, but Florian managed to do so.
“Sure. I’ll play. Not sure how to do so, but I can always learn from a great teacher.” Sending a wink in his direction, I grabbed the other controller for the PS4 and got into position so her could “teach me” how to play.
Everyone else was in their zone, minding their own business, as Florian was giving me the rundown on the game. Little did he know, my two brothers taught me how to play whenever I’d come home on the weekends from college. They prepared me for this moment.
“Ready, draga?”
“Bring it.”
Fifteen minutes into the the game, he was kicking my ass in both matches. Time to kick it into high gear. The gag is, I was just messing with him.
“I’m gonna change my character real quick. If that’s ok with you?” The gentle tone of my voice made that precious smile come back.
He shrugged. “That’s fine with me baby girl.”
Going through the character list, tuning out everything around me, I focused on my strategy. I found the right character.
“Jade. Let’s do this baby.” Pressing start on the controller, I maneuvered in my spot on the couch and started to annihilate Florian in this game.
“What the hell…” he was in shock and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Finish him!” The tv yelled through the Sony speakers, placed around the 75” flat screen.
With a sly smirk, and a burst of energy to leap up to squat on the couch, I caught the attention of our friends and they gathered around.
Michael got too excited, stomping his feet against the hardwood. “She’s gonna beat you bro.”
“Not by a long shot.” Florian gritted through his teeth, maneuvering the buttons on the controller.
“Final kill shot…”
“Nice try babe.” With one final move, Jade had sliced Raiden’s head clean off and stood proud with her staff.
“Fatality!” The room went silent, Florian dropped his controller in defeat and was wide eyed.
“How in the hell? I just taught you 5 min ago?” He looked at me in utter disarray.
I chuckled a bit. “No you didn’t.”
“Uh were you paying attention when I taught you earlier?” He was in straight disbelief and I was living for it.
“I was. But you forgot that I have two brothers that play this on the daily baby. I faked it, unlike other things.” Sending a wink in his direction, I got up to clean the rest of the plates.
As the party died down, our friends left for the night, I was left cleaning and Florian was messing with something in the house.
Next thing I know, I hear some Michael Jackson music and the adrenaline kicked in with me. Grooving to the beat to past the time, I felt his strong hands on my hips.
“Oh so I take it you’re feeling better after getting crushed?”
“You wound me Printesa. You wound me.”
Placing a kiss on his cheek, I moved my hips along with his to the funky beat of Pretty Young Thing. Truth be told he’s the first person I’ve danced with in my house. I never got to do a lot of things with Jake because he’d always be “busy” with work and it affected our relationship a lot.
I cherish the little moments I do get with Florian. When he’s away I find something to do, but it makes it all worth it in the end, when we meet back up in my hometown. The song shifted to a real old song that brought back memories and just felt right.
“Do you remember, when we fell in love. We were so young and innocent then.” He sung in my ear so elegantly, as he swayed with me in solitude and confinement.
I couldn’t help but sing back to him, doing a little spin turn, to have my back pressed against his chest.
“Do you remember, how it all began. It’s just seemed like heaven, so why did it then.”
His strong arms that were wrapped around me just right. I felt safe and secured in his embrace, I never wanted to leave. We continued to sing the song to each other, and gravity took us both towards my bedroom.
There was a glowing light illuminating from my room. The closer I got, the more the room came in visual and it was sight to behold.
It seems that when I was cleaning, he was setting this all up for us the whole time. I felt the tears on the edge of my eyes, one shed as I held my face together. Turning towards him I sniffled.
“Florian. What is all this for?”
He held my hand and guided me towards the grand king sized bed, that took up a good portion of space in the master bedroom. This condo was perfect in every way and I still have yet to call it my own.
“Well seeing as though we just started dating a few hours ago, 6 to be exact, I thought we’d consummate our relationship. By making love to my lady love.” We both looked into the mirror I had installed and just took in each other’s reflections.
He truly listened to me. It was rare to find a good man that listened. I was going to enjoy this by any means necessary. Changing the playlist to smooth jams, I faced him fully.
“You do listen to me. I’m glad you do.” I wrapped my arms around his neck.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer.
The music pulled us and guided us like a magnet. I took his black v-neck shirt off first, tracing the hard muscles with my nails with a featherlight touch. Our foreheads were touching, his hands were under the grey racerback I was wearing. My skin was on fire, but I loved every second of it.
Our lips were ghosting one another’s, a teasing game that only could be won by one. He gave in and smashed his lips against mine. Our lips moving in synchronization to the rhythm of our heartbeats, drawing me closer to him.
He broke the kiss for a split second, analyzing the room once again.
“Don’t need us both being poked with electric candles, now do we?” He set all the plastic candles on my dresser, then came back to me.
“No we don’t. But we do need less clothes.” Trying to be sexy, I slipped my tank top off. Only remaining clothing were my shorts; white lace bra and matching undies to hide my heated desire for the man standing in front of me.
I took it upon myself to slide off his basketball shorts, eyeing the man in front of me in all his naked glory.
“No boxers or briefs huh? You were thinking of getting lucky today weren’t you?” Kissing his chest softly, my hands gripped onto his ass tightly, gaining a moan from him.
In a blink of an eye, he yanks the rest of my clothes off, throws them somewhere in the room and made me jump up. Wrapping my legs around his waist, to continue the kiss, he laid us both on the bed.
“You’re the first woman I’ve ever gotten intimate with on this level. Face to face, pure and raw intensity. Just close.” He whispered in my ear hotly, as his fingers dragged along my curves. Making the room seem hotter than it already was.
“So far, you’re doing everything right.” In one hand I held the back of his neck while the other, yanked him by his chain around his neck, back to down to kiss me. His tongue fought for dominance with my own, a shaky moan erupted through my body once again.
The movement of his hips against mine were orgasmic and sensual. His weight on top of me, felt so delicious. I trusted him enough to not use a condom this time versus all the other times. Who knew that kissing could get you off.
“Geneva, do we-”
“No. I trust you. Remember what I told you? I trust you.” Nodding in more confirmation, I brushed my hips another time to get him inside me. I knew for a fact that I was not about to go to work in the morning and I didn’t care.
Smiling up at him, deep into his green-hazel speckled eyes, I saw a man that shown me so much love these past few months. A man who really cares for me deeply; physically, mentally and spiritually.
“Then I guess we can.” He captures my lips with his once again, lacing our fingers together above my head in an exultant feeling all over. My body overheated; I felt him rut against me, as I squeezed his fingers tight.
He broke the kiss to let me know to fully relax. I did so, and felt my velvet walls being stretched deliciously by by his hardened dick. I moaned sharply, arching my back off the black sheets, and dragged my nails up and down his back. We came once again just off of us humping each other.
My legs went back around his hips and constricted him like a python, egging him on even more to go faster. Letting out mini yells of his name along with multiple phrases in Romanian and German. His hands gripped my thighs tight.
“Lil Mama, come here.” He sat back, pulling out of me. I felt an emptiness, craving for him to be back inside me. He pulled me on to his lap, I sunk back down on instinct. I could tell he was chasing his 3 orgasm with me, so this next one was about to be ruthless.
The temperature increased; his hands hot and heavy on my hips, helping me rotate up and down. Forward and back, this time going with the rhythm of the music. I held the back of his head, gripping for dear life, resting my head on his as I went faster.
“Ah ah- fucking shit! Right there. Oh come on daddy.” I whined digging my nails deeper into his shoulder, feeling my 3rd orgasm coming faster. He looked me dead in my eyes and spoke with such dominance.
“Don’t call me daddy unless you trying to make me one.” Once he growled that against my lips, I purred back at him and caught his tongue with my lips, sucking gently. His eyes went big at how frisky the move was. I pushed him on his back, squeezing his dick inside me again and closing my eyes tight at the feeling of him. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes tight at the feeling.
I whispered against his lips, “If you play your cards right, maybe we can talk about kids. But I need a ring first.
“Only way I’d see it happening, baby girl.” One final kiss session, feeling the vibes again with one of my songs playing on my phone. Rolling my hips sinfully, leaning my head back and gripping my hair I gasped sharply.
“I’m so close…”
“I am too. Let go with me baby girl.” He leaned up, kissing my chest, sucking one of my nipples in his mouth and then moved his thumb against my clit. My orgasm erupted before his own.
I moved quick and fast to slide off him and take him in my mouth. He had to get off by the end of the night or I wouldn’t feel good about it. Tasting myself on his dick, made me wet all over again.
“Shit baby- goddamn.” He held the back of my head, I relaxed my jaw and used my tongue to my leverage. I had him whimpering like a little kid, and I loved it. Using one of my hands to get the rest of him in my mouth, I kissed his thighs a bit before going back at it.
He smacked my ass one good time, which made me moan around his throbbing dick. He released down my throat, I swallowed every drop and crawled back up his sweaty body. Kissing him gently, rubbing my nose with his.
“You smacked my ass like you own it.”
“I kinda do, draga. I kinda do.” He smirked at my gasp, as I hit him playfully.
Stretching a bit, I sat up and smiled at him.
“I trust you remember that ok?” I reminded him. He nodded sweetly and pulled me back down onto his chest. Which was heaving up and down a bit.
“Shower or sleep? Or both?” I traced shapes on his chest gently, hiking my leg over his.
“Both. I’ll even switch the sheets out. Plus I owe you in the morning.” Picking me up bridal style towards my master bathroom, I let out a sweet giggle.
“Definitely gonna need that cause I’m not into work tomorrow.” Loving the feel of the bow water on my body and my hair, I helped him wash his hair and he did mine.
After what seemed like hours, we were both dressed: the sheets were changed and the room was cooler. Falling asleep to his voice made it easier and the nightmares were gone.
“I could stay like this forever with you.” Is what I could’ve sworn I heard him say, but I was too deep into my sleep to pay attention. I couldn’t see myself with anyone else.

I just finished watching all of glow and WOW
It was so much funnier than the first season, I love seeing more of characters lives. Still craving more. There really is everything going on in this show, complex characters and a range of different women from different backgrounds and experiences. Seeing female relationships is so important!! the friendships are so pure and real. I loved seeing Sheila’s softer side. It was adorable. the scenes of all the girls caring for each other and supporting each other were my favorite .its such a powerful show for me too, it gives me confidence in my own body just by watching it.I wanna get up in the ring and slam someone body against the floor too!
The relationships are all really interesting to watch play out too. even though i’m a huge ruth x debbie shipper i did still enjoy sam x ruth together (i don’t necessarily ship them romanticly because i do for ruth/debbie way more and most likely always will , but i liked the close bond ruth and Sam have. its sweet). I’d like to see ruth/debbie get closer next season (that's if there is one), I want to see their relationship change now they both know what ruined it in the first place. I wanna see them laugh more, the scenes they were working together were magic and I think they work really welll with each other. Even though the scenes of her saying she basically should have slept with that man who invited her to his hotel room. I think that was cruel and I was just glad when she told Sam he was more understanding..I really hope she says sorry next season about tht. Cos she was so in the wrong there.
Also, can we talk about how heartbreaking it was too? when Justine had to leave with her mum I really felt for Sam. And that’s another thing, Sam really has grown on me. Underneath it all, he is a vulnerable man with a big heart I think. He is a loveable asshole. I liked how he didn’t push Justine away, he actually cared and really tried to get through to her.
That wasn’t the only heartbreaking thing though. I’m was so crushed when Florian died. I mean i was really rooting for Bash and Florian to get together. I saw how much he cared for him, It was so sad to see him have to hide that side of himself. Because I do believe Bash is struggling with his sexuality and by marrying Rhonda he was masking his pain and trying to push his true feelings for Florian aside. (I do think he likes Rhonda, I just don’t think he loves her, but I think that's clea. He just really wanted to help her). I like how in a show with strong female characters they still give us strong male characters too.
I mean, Cherry’s Keith is a sweetheart!!! I love seeing a supportive and loving relationship in the mix of all this drama. I loved how much he supports her and is there for her. It’s so nice to see.
I think my favourite part of the season for me was Yolanda and I didn’t expect her and Archie to get together. That was a wonderful surprise. So cute and soft!! I love how it was done too, it wasn’t a big deal that she’s a lesbian. It was just like fucking cool and she is fucking cool. And I love how she knows it too, I think all women should feel that way. She’s just such a great character and I love her.
Anyway, this season was wonderful and I loved all the great new wrestling moves too, It was dope as fuck. I mean the last episode of the season was fun and I literally wanted to go and watch the real GLOW because it was actually fun to watch and the cheesy jokes were light and actually funny. I mean, they are clearly not the best jokes but I actually enjoyed seeing the episode of the show. Any who, I fucking adored it, heres too more seasons of this show!! Netflix get on it, I’m as hooked as I ever was.

Overall thoughts on episode 4 of rings of power: bad. Lazy writing, but that’s nothing new. It wasn’t even all that funny. Exceedingly bland in every regard. Nothing felt like it mattered, even though it clearly was supposed to. A bunch of things happened, but none of it felt earned.
Galadriel got thrown in a cell, but she got out almost immediately, so who cares. Theo used a morgul blade and then had to hide from orcs, but the scene lacked tension, and left me wondering how he knew how to use the blade to begin with. Isildur got himself and his buddies dismissed, and his friends are clearly upset with him about it, but we never see any consequences for it. Miriel is accompanying Galadriel back to middle earth to help fight Sauron, but her changing her mind feels like it came out of nowhere, and unearned. Durin is angry with his father, but it gets resolved in a single scene and there was no prior set up. There’s a new romantic subplot on the horizon, but I care about the characters involved so little that I can’t even be bothered to look their names up. Mithril is introduced, but the vein is immediately shut off. There’s a prophecy that numenor is going to fall, but I have no reason to be concerned about that, because basically all of the numenorians we’ve met suck, and I feel no attachment to them.
Ill give an example that’s sort of a microcosm of the whole episode. Theres a group of dwarves secretly mining for mithril when part of the tunnel collapses. Durin rushes into the collapsing tunnel, saying that there are four dwarves inside. Cut away. Later, we’re with elrond and disa, and they’re both worried. Durin comes back, saying that he pulled the last one out and they’re all alive. all of them surviving is clearly supposed to relieve the audience, but instead the beat rings hollow, because it doesn’t matter. we don’t know those dwarves. They haven’t been shown or named. And that isn’t even necessarily a terrible thing in and of itself. If this were a GOOD show, where things that happen mattered, this could have actually worked really well.
We don’t know these dwarves, but we do know Prince Durin, who DOES know them. If they had Durin rush in to save these dwarves, it would show us that he cares about them, and therefore that WE should care by extension. It would establish that Durin is a good leader who doesn’t abandon his fellows, that he cares about other dwarves, that he’s loyal. If they showed us Durin desperately digging through the rubble to reach them, it hammers in that Durin put these dwarves at risk, it’s his fault they’re in danger, and that now he’s trying to save them because he cares. Then, even though the audience still doesn’t know who these dwarves are, the outcome of this scene matters to us because we see that it matters to the characters. The relief when durin returns and informs us that they’re all alive would feel earned, and if they ARENT all alive, wed feel at least a little sad.
But that’s not what happens, and that’s like. The most infuriating part of all of this. I can SEE the potential in this scene, and none of it is realized. It wouldn’t have even been that hard to do! But we don’t see prince durin desperately trying to dig them up, he just… says that he got the last one out and they’re all alive. The show doesn’t show us that durin cares about these dwarves, so I don’t care either.
I don’t care very succinctly sums up how I felt about this whole episode. Nothing that happened in it made me feel anything. Honestly, it’s how I feel abt the show as a whole, but this episode was particularly guilty of it. There was a palantir and my only response was “neat. :|” And I KNOW that’s almost certainly wasn’t the intended reaction!! They probably wanted it to be a dramatic ✨reveal✨ moment! But it’s not, and I KNOW what a palantir is! I KNOW it’s a powerful, dangerous magic item, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly! I could tell I was supposed to be awed, but instead I was bored. This episode was boring. Every conflict felt completely meaningless, even though I could tell that things were SUPPOSED to be important. I know I’m supposed to care about these characters succeeding or failing, but I just… don’t.
TLDR: nothing in Rings of Power seems to mean anything to the characters, and therefore none of it means anything to me.
#this was going to go at the end of my liveblog thread but it got long enough that I thought I should just make a separate post#anyways the show doesn’t even try and it definitely shows#it’s one of the worst adaptations I’ve ever seen but it’s a bad show on its own too#like. worse than the live action Percy Jackson movies#because at least lightning thief made an okay standalone movie if you had never consumed the books#but rings of power is just… absolutely abysmal#the dwarf scene really stuck out to me immediately#it was COMPLETELY unnecessary#what did it add#absolutely nothing at all. it should have just been cut at that point#i put more thought into my fic than this show did. i have a brainstorming doc for my crazed notes. & if a scene doesnt add anything I cut it#lotr#rings of power#florian watches rings of power#lotr trop#ramblimgs

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
While Marvel’s Phase 4 has been mostly backward-looking for its first outings, in terms of reusing character, Shang-Chi is finally here to change things up. The MCU’s first martial arts fantasy epic is certainly different and unquestionably bold, but does it work, and will Marvel fans take to it as one of the strongest origin stories so far? How does it stand as a new branch for the MCU to nurture in other words?
For the most part, Marvel’s MCU origin stories have been particularly strong. Even ignoring the usual issues with over-emphasis on exposition, comic book movie fans love to see new superheroes take up the mantle. It’s traditionally been in MCU sequels where struggles have been more obvious – apart from Captain America’s seemingly bullet-proof sub-franchise of course. In that respect, Shang-Chi had reason to be confident, even with a vastly different focus to the other MCU kickstarter projects. But at the same time, with the expectations of fans built on 24 movies and billions of dollars, aiming for something different was never going to be completely straightforward. Particularly with the issues presented by the industry at the moment.
Related: Why Shang-Chi’s Avengers Cameo Looks Different From Endgame
Early box office results suggest Shang-Chi is going incredibly well and a 90%+ Rotten Tomatoes review score into opening weekend is always a very good sign. That is a testament to what Simu Liu and director Destin Daniel Cretton have achieved. That said, though, Shang-Chi has some teething issues, even for a movie that is very good overall. In the interest of balance, here’s everything that worked incredibly well in Shang-Chi and the few areas where it perhaps missed the mark.
As with any MCU origin story, there’s a lot of necessary exposition in Shang-Chi. The majority of this is conveyed via flashback, which works, and could have been a little jarring was the narrative importance of the past not been handled well. That typically means there is less space for character, which is often particularly true of a movie with such major fantastical elements and action set-pieces, but not in Shang-Chi. Simu Liu positively radiates charisma, even as he guards his character (to protect his secrets), promising an awful lot more in the MCU’s future. Awkwafina’s Katy is not just the audience’s eyes in Shang-Chi’s world, but she’s also the breakout character (the same way Ratcatcher was in The Suicide Squad and Michael Pena’s Luis was in Ant-Man). The fact that she returns in future, as set up by the end, can only be a good thing. Add to that, the performances of legends like Tony Leung and Michelle Yeoh – not just in combat, but in quieter moments – and it’s a truly great group.
Speaking of Tony Leung, his Wenwu – wrongly named The Mandarin or “The Real Mandarin” throughout the marketing – makes a strong claim to be one of the best human MCU villains alongside Michael B Jordan’s Killmonger. Even faced with being overshadowed by a colossal winged demon in the final act, Leung’s dramatic chops back up his stunning martial arts work to create a bad guy who is not only empathetic but compelling in his cause. He is in pain, haunted by his own part in his wife’s death, and corrupted by the power of the Ten Rings and what lies beyond Ta Lo’s portal. Though he also had a more traditional hunger for power before meeting Shang-Chi’s mother, he puts that one-dimensional motivation aside to be a man pushed to desperate, catastrophic measures by his grief. To contrast that with how Iron Man 3 originally portrayed the supposedly same character is night and day.
While the dynamic between Wenwu, Shang-Chi, and Xialing is great, Shang-Chi is best when it’s examining their personal story. Unfortunately, the shift in gears in the third act that sees them arrive in Ta Lo and face the impending arrival of the Dweller-in-Darkness feels like a similar situation that undermined how good The Avengers was. Suddenly adding the Dweller as the final act “big boss”, plus an army of otherwise unmentioned flying soul sucker drones is very much like Whedon’s use of the Chitauri army to escalate matters for the heroes in his final act back in 2012. That’s not to say there aren’t impressive moments in the battle – and who doesn’t want to see what amounts to the MCU’s first kaiju on kaiju battle? – but there’s not quite enough tension when the personal story is ripped away.
Related: Is Shang-Chi Officially An Avenger Now?
The benefit of adding a martial arts master to the MCU is immediately obvious as soon as Shang-Chi gets into its combat groove. The opening fight sequence on the bus careening down San Francisco’s famous hills is remarkable and it’s far from the best. Elsewhere, Tony Leung, Simu Liu, Andy Le, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhan, and young Arnold Sun (a revelation as teen Shang-Chi in training flashbacks) all put together gravity-defying martial arts set-pieces that are unlike anything seen in the MCU. So far, the MCU brand of martial arts has looked more like the bruising style of Florian Munteanu’s Razor Fist, but here there’s balletic grace mashed up with the physical drunken boxer humor of Kung Fu Hustle (referenced lovingly not only in a poster in Shang-Chi’s wall, but also in the casting of Yuen Wah as Ta Lo Master Guang Bo. The slow-motion can get a little over-indulgent, but there’s no doubting the obscene skill involved.
Despite the mastery of the fight choreography and the incredible environmental designs that go into Ta Lo in particular, some of Shang-Chi‘s CGI is on a par with the worst moments of Black Panther‘s notorious early trailers. There’s more than one regrettable ragdoll sequence, including part of the otherwise excellent bus fight, and while the Great Protector battling the Dweller-in-Darkness is a fun spectacle, some of it is too muddied by an attempt to presumably hide the heavy effects work involved. The moment that sees Shang-Chi run up the otherworldly beast, in particular, is near-impossible to follow.
The MCU has been accused before of being too focused on shoe-horning humor in to meet the expectations of the lucrative family audience, and even some of the best Marvel movies too have clunking gags in them. Shang-Chi, though, brilliantly balances humor and heart and drama. Awkwafina’s Katy and Sir Ben Kingsley’s return as Trevor Slattery take care of much of the leg work, but Simu Liu’s comic background helps a great deal, though his jokes come less frequently than his “sidekicks”. There’s never any attempt to really undermine heavy, dramatic moments with humor, which is where Marvel stumbles a lot and crucially, Shang-Chi being an insider on his lore means there’s no reductive mockery of the mythology behind his powers and his family.
Shang-Chi is a stand-alone almost to the same degree as a Phase 1 movie, and that’s great, but there are obviously expectations to tie it back to the rest of the MCU, and – as ever – use its end as a stepping stone to what comes next. Had that ended with Wong’s recruitment of Shang-Chi and Katy and the impromptu, hilarious karaoke sessions, that would have been perfectly fine, but then Shang-Chi‘s mid-credits scene goes too far. Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner’s inclusions feel too much like big-name appearances for the sake of familiarity, particularly because both add very little to the discussion on the Ten Rings other than a bemused shrug. They’re there so that Marvel can remind the audience that there’s always something bigger coming, but it didn’t need to be done this way when Wong’s mysterious tease of what he needed Shang-Chi for was satisfying enough.
Related: How Marvel Retconned Its Iron Man 3 Mandarin Controversy
Now that there are 25 MCU movies and a number of Disney+ Marvel shows to throw into the mix, the requirement to do Marvel homework before each release is getting to the point where casual audiences simply will not do it. Luckily, Shang-Chi exists on its own merit strongly and without the crutch of the rest of the franchise, meaning any pre-watching is limited. Yes, there are nods to the post-Endgame world in posters about Snap Anxiety, and Wong and Tim Roth’s Abomination appear, but the only substantial link is to Trevor Slattery’s arc in Iron Man 3, and he is played in such a way that he’s no more than a jester brought along to help Morris become the next most memeable Marvel character. His arc is entirely explained within Shang-Chi anyway, so that serves as all the required reminder. The reason this is such a big plus for Shang-Chi is that it has to be how Marvel moves forward when establishing new MCU IPs, like X-Men, Fantastic Four, Blade, and whoever else comes along: not everything has to be tied to the nostalgia machine. Shang-Chi proves it’s still possible to strike out onto a new branch without everything being a set-up for when the next cameo will happen.
While Tony Leung’s Wenwu is great (particularly in how he retcons Iron Man 3‘s Mandarin mistake), and the fight sequences involving both are hugely entertaining, it’s difficult not to feel that both Razor Fist and – even more so – Death Dealer aren’t rather undernourished. The former’s complexity is as limited as you might expect from someone who drives around in an SUV with his own name spraypainted on the side (even when it’s achingly hinted for about two seconds that he fears for his master’s mental health), and the latter is a plot device killed off for effect. Neither is given anything like the charisma to hide their lack of development and backstory and it’s a real shame. At least Razor Fist’s likely return might afford more of an opportunity.
Not only is Shang-Chi a great stand-alone, but it is fundamentally different from what MCU fans have seen over the past decade. While it has the same hallmarks of familial conflict and daddy issues as lots of previous Marvel movies, it balances that with martial arts, new mysticism, a dragon, a giant kaiju-like demon, and the suggestion that more lands like Wakanda can exist beyond portals to other realms. There can be no accusations of deferring to type or Shang-Chi being somehow formulaic, and after 24 films, that is an impressive thing to be able to state. It also makes forthcoming new creative endeavors – like Eternals – that have a similar burden of expectation to be new and exciting a lot easier to back to succeed with the audience. The start of Phase 4 has looked backward a little more than some may like, but Shang-Chi is bold and unafraid to be wildly different to its stable-mates, and that should give future MCU creators cause for confidence.

Joshua vs Pulev result: Anthony Joshua delivers knockout in ninth round after commanding display
New Post has been published on https://vip.anthonyjoshua.club/joshua-vs-pulev-result-anthony-joshua-delivers-knockout-in-ninth-round-after-commanding-display/
Joshua vs Pulev result: Anthony Joshua delivers knockout in ninth round after commanding display
World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on Saturday night retained all three of his belts by thwarting the game challenge of Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev inside nine rounds at London’s Wembley Arena.
To the cheers of the 1,000 fans allowed inside the venue, and with Floyd Mayweather watching at ringside, Joshua knocked down Pulev twice in the third round and twice more in the ninth to keep an all-British unification battle with Tyson Fury well on track for 2021.
The fight, Joshua’s 25th as a professional, began slowly, with both fighters using the opening round to test one another’s control of distance.
It then exploded in a dramatic third round when Joshua stood his ground and let his right hand go, landing it in the form of a cross, which hurt and later dropped Pulev, and also as an uppercut, which had the same impact. Legs unsteady, but spitting defiance, Pulev seemed on the brink of being stopped.
Yet somehow he stuck in there. Better than that, Pulev (28-2), recovered well enough in the fourth to win the round, gambling now with right crosses of his own.
Ultimately, though, it was Joshua (24-1), who had the edge in power and this showed in the ninth when he once again stood in range with Pulev.
Uppercuts this time did the trick, a series of them dropping Pulev to his knees, before a final right cross left Pulev flat on his back and gave referee Deon Dwarte of South Africa no option but to wave the fight over.
Now, with Pulev duly beaten, the talk is of Joshua and Fury meeting next year in a heavyweight blockbuster, likely to take place in Saudi Arabia. Joshua and Fury own all four of the major heavyweight titles and have in the past 12 months clearly established themselves as the top two fighters in the division.
Earlier, Hackney’s Lawrence Okolie had been hoping to become WBO world cruiserweight champion but, following the withdrawal of original opponent Krzysztof Glowacki, had to settle for taking out his frustrations on Nikodem Jezewski, who he stopped inside two rounds.
Okolie, with a 15-0 record, was quick to drop Jezewski with a body shot in round one before making a greater impression on his Polish opponent with a straight right cross, which caught Jezewski (19-1-1) on the temple and put him on the floor for a second time.
Jezewski, who had fought outside Poland only twice before, was clearly overwhelmed, both by the occasion and Okolie’s power, and was finally stopped 1 min 45 sec into the second round.
Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev fight, in pictures
A decent heavyweight fight between Martin Bakole (16-1) and Sergey Kuzmin, (15-2), ended with Bakole taking a unanimous decision (98-92, 97-93, 96-94).
The two fighters entered the ring with almost identical records and had previously come unstuck against fringe contender Michael Hunter.
Together, though, their styles blended well and they were happy to trade power shots from close range, with Bakole’s jab the difference.
Also at heavyweight, Hughie Fury was uncharacteristically aggressive in a messy fight against tough Pole Mariusz Wach, winning by scores of 100-90 (twice) and 99-91 after 10 rounds.
With straight punches at a premium, Fury (25-3), mauled his way to victory against Wach (36-7) and admirably fought with a bad cut by his left eye.
Northampton’s Kieron Conway (16-1-1), dominated substitute opponent Macaulay McGowan (14-2-1), at super-welterweight, taking a unanimous decision by scores of 100-90, 100-89 (twice).
McGowan, a big character with an even bigger heart, kept coming forward and applying pressure but was outclassed throughout by Conway’s cleaner work on the back foot and was put on the floor in round eight.
In something of a surprise, unheralded Jamie Stewart seemed fortunate to come away with a draw against Albania’s Florian Marku at welterweight.
Southpaw Marku (7-0-1), a big talker with a point to prove, started the bout strongly, dropping Stewart with a body shot in the second round, and won the majority of rounds on work-rate alone.
Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury: when might biggest British heavyweight fight in history take place?
An inability to finish, however, came back to haunt Marku, with Stewart (2-0-1), gutsy in the final couple of rounds, somehow doing enough on referee Marcus McDonnell’s scorecard to earn a draw.
McDonnell, the sole scorer, delivered a card of 76-76 at the bout’s conclusion, much to the consternation of Marku and those watching at ringside.
In the first bout of the evening, a fast start by super-bantamweight Qais Ashfaq (9-1) earned a first-round knockdown against Bristol’s Ashley Lane (14-10-2), as well as a second knockdown in the third, before a sustained attack secured a stoppage in the fourth.
12:31am
He certainly proved a few things tonight
12:26am
Eddie Hearn
“Starting from tomorrow, we make the Tyson Fury fight straight away. It’s the only fight to be made in boxing. It is the biggest fight in British boxing history.
“I know he (Joshua) wants it, He is the best heavyweight in the world, I promise you. He’ll break him down, he’ll knock him out.”

Paul Gallen Responds to Shock Bid for Fight against Mike Tyson
In the highly unlikely case that Mike Tyson can be attracted to Australia, Paul Gallen admits the chance to fight the boxing icon could not resist. But the NRL great would not just do it for charity, especially given Tyson's recent video of throwing bombs in practice. If Paul Gallen were to enter the ring with a man who terrorized the heavyweight ranks and knocked 44 brutal knockouts, Gallen would insist on getting paid. Since Tyson announced that he was training with a view to take exhibition fights as charity fundraisers, Aussie promoter Brian Amatruda put out a $1 million bid to fight either Gallen, Barry Hall or Sonny Bill Williams for 'Iron Mike. "I know who Brian Amatruda is-he's a reputable promoter. But I haven't spoken to Brian Amatruda myself and to think that Mike Tyson's going to come to Australia and fight for $1 million I think is a bit far-fetched," Gallen, 38, told Wide World of Sports on Thursday. "Today we talk about Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, Joseph Parker, Anthony Joshua-Mike Tyson's still probably a bigger name than any of them.” He will come back and gain tens of millions of dollars. I think it may be $1 million off the mark. "I think you've got to be realistic about these things. I know we love to talk about it, the chat, and my name always gets thrown up. "I'm fighting Sonny Bill, Barry Hall, Mark Hunt, every NRL player wants to fight ... and now Mike Tyson! I don't know where I'm going to get time to do it all, but people out there should just wait until they hear from me who I'm going to fight next and that's who I'll be fighting." The bid was officially upped to $3 million on Thursday. And Tyson, now 53, made a fortune during his boxing career (50-6, 44 KO), by winning the belt at age 20 in 1986, becoming the youngest heavyweight world champion in history. For starters, Tyson won $US25 million ($39 million) in his 89-second comeback fight against the hapless Peter McNeeley in 1995. Adjusted for inflation, that in today's terms is $67 million. Tyson last played professionally in 2005, a loss to Kevin McBride, when competing against Corey Sanders in 2006 with four-round exhibition fights. His final fight for the world title was a KO loss to Lennox Lewis in 2002. Tyson could put on a strong display in an exhibition against the right opponent, based on a small snippet of Instagram footage from his latest training program, showcasing a pair of signature left hooks that have lost none of their savagery. Last year in November, Gallen (9-0-1) fought AFL's great Hall for a tense draw that ended his winning streak. He acknowledges that Tyson faces a big long shot, but says that if the price was right, he would have to say yes. "He was a beast for so long and they say 50 is the new 40, so that might be in his favour," Gallen stated. "If he's able to get fit, and at age 50 it would be hard, but with his natural ability and power he'd probably compete with a lot of world-ranked heavyweights these days I think. "Mike Tyson was a megastar when I was growing up. He was just this phenomenal beast that was 5'11'', looked like half the size of the blokes he was going in against and he'd knock them out with one punch. "He's an idol of a lot of people and he's probably still the most famous name in boxing. I think it would be great if we could have him in Australia, but I think we have to be realistic. "I'd be happy for a charity to be involved, but I'd be getting paid for it. You've got to remember, Mike Tyson is Mike Tyson - he hasn't got an off switch, he hasn't got an exhibition fight switch. If he gets in the ring with someone, we've all seen what he's done to people in the past and that mentality's not going to change. "How could you not want to get in the ring with Mike Tyson, to be honest? It's like a young halfback coming up and not wanting to play against Andrew Johns. "I'm not trying to put myself in that category ... I'm just a bloke who loves the sport . But as far as being a legitimate fight or a charity bout, it's not something you'd do just for charity, jump in the ring with that bloke." View this post on Instagram I’m a Bad Boy for Life. Watch #BadBoysforLife now on DVD Blueray @willsmith @martinlawrence #stillthebaddestmanontheplanet A post shared by Mike Tyson (@miketyson) on May 1, 2020 at 12:07pm PDT Tyson's close friend and sometimes mentor Jeff Fenech told Wide World of Sports this week that possible opponents had not yet been identified, but the nod would most likely be a seasoned player. "We've just got to get the right opponent, make them work great, make it look great, make the people enjoy it and raise as much money for the great causes as we can," Fenech said. "Definitely so , it might not be a legend but we could get somebody younger that can work with Mike. It's an exhibition, it's not where two people are going to try to kill each other, although that's what we're used to Mike doing." Outrider (P1)
(collab between me and @techr0n rewrote our RP so that it’s actually EDIBLE DIALOGUE. Most of it is headcanon.)
The moon loomed over Irithyll as it always did, bathing the city in its gentle blue hue as snow danced around the sky. In the center of the city, the chapel was illuminated by the orange glow of torches, contrasting with the moon. And there in the city’s heart waited dozens upon dozens of people, called upon by the local town criers to the main square.
The Pontiff, their magnificent lord, stood high in front of the mighty cathedral, addressing his noble knights and fair citizens with renewed vigor. The First Flames were fading, that much was true, and with morale at an all time low, doubt swept through the kingdom with all the bravado of a windstorm.
“-but let it be known that our beloved Irithyll will stand its ground and continue to remain, even in an Age of Dark. For we have the power of the Deep-”
At the far end of the crowds, one of the knights remained motionless, letting every word that dripped from the Pontiff’s mouth grace his ears.
The other one beside him however, wasn’t as receptive to the event as his companion. The expression on his face read as skeptical, doubtful, annoyed even. “Why are we standing here listening to this tripe?” Florian muttered in a low voice, barely loud enough for his friend to hear. “So the Fire fades, and we welcome the Deep. How is that a good thing again…?“
Snow gently began to sprinkle down from the sky.
Vosler grumbled at the lack respect that his friend held towards the Pontiff. He spoke softly, “We let the Flames fade and call in the Deep.” He repeated, “Do you even pay attention when you join me in the cathedral sessions?” He shook off some snow that had collected on his armor.
“Quite frankly I’ve stopped paying attention long ago when talk of the Deep STARTED. I don’t understand it. And I don’t particularly want to.” Florian sighed through his nose and glanced down at the frozen ground, and then to the toes of his boots. “Besides…. I always have you to retell me everything that was said when I DON’T pay attention. Whether I like it or not.”
“The Dregs will sink to the deepest parts of the sea and collect together, forming the key components in forming the new age- This is the fourth time I’m telling you this. If I could, I would force you to listen more intently.” There was a slight growl in Vosler’s voice; he didn’t appreciate Florian disrespecting his faith, or distracting him from the Pontiff’s speeches.
“I’m sure there’ll be a fifth time darling.” The red-head teased. “Sitting in church just isn’t something I find all that interesting, I’m sorry to say.” Florian crossed his arms and furrowed his brows, frowning hard. “I don’t think we should be doing this…” He muttered quietly as an afterthought.
Vosler peered over at him. “Don’t think we should be doing what? Defending the city?”
“Dealing with whatever load of tripe this is.” The very thought of the Fire fading scared him and many others surely. He couldn’t be the only one. “…I suppose we don’t have any choice in the matter then.”
Alarmed, Vosler immediately leaned in closer to his companion and began to whisper. “Don’t say that! This isn’t the Abyss. That corrupts and destroys. The Deep is better, it is going to help us. Don’t confuse the two… If you say that to the wrong person you might find your head missing for treason.” Leaning back, he too sighed heavily, reaching over to give Florian a pat on the back. “Everything will be fine. You’ll see.”
“The Deep, the Abyss, it all sounds the damned same to me. Let’s pray my mouth doesn’t wind up getting me into any more trouble than it already does.” Rather than pay attention, he began to fiddle with the golden signet ring on his finger. "I should have you list out all the differences for me so incase I’m ever questioned, I’ll have all the answers hidden away under my palms.”
“Gladly.” Vosler seemed more than pleased to oblige. As soon as his attention returned to his surroundings, he noticed the crowds dispersing. “W-what? Damn, you made me miss half of the speech!” Despite being slightly miffed about it, he playfully nudged his friend. “That was your plan all along, wasn’t it?”
Florian grinned wide as a wolf, completely thrilled. “Precisely. Seems to have worked surprisingly well too. You sure do get distracted easily for someone so focused and devoted.” elbowed Vosler back in the same overly-friendly manner. “Nevertheless, I’ve had enough for one day.”
“Hmph…enough? When you’ve hardly done a thing besides get roll out of your cot?” The two knights stood alone. “…We should go back to our duties.”
“Climbing out of a cot is much more difficult than it looks.” Florian brushed a hand through his hair, letting it fall wherever it pleased. Just as they started to move again, he pointed to the nearby cobblestone street. “By the way, watch that patch of ice. You nearly killed yourself slipping on it before we got here.“
Vosler shook his head as he reached out to pat his friend on the shoulder this time, and to brush some of the snow off his cloak. “Yes, I remember it. I swear, I’ll learn Pyromancy ONLY to clear all of the roads.” When it came time to wave farewell to his friend, as they had to go different paths to their respective duties, he offered him a firm nod. “You stay safe, and out of trouble.”
“I wouldn’t DREAM of it Vos.” Florian gave him a dainty wave as he walked off in the opposite direction.
