5 facts are  - She’s blind! She relies mostly on being able to feel what material she is using  - she’s my youngest sylvari oc! She’s not even 1 year old yet!  - she’s named after my best friend (more a personal fact than an oc fact) - she’s fascinated by revenants and would love to meet one, one day, but so far has not  - Jai likes to assign objects to people so when she thinks of a person - she’ll think of their object or colour. It helps her to remember names 2) Post a line of dialogue from your OC. Nyxarenn, my mesmer dragonvari - “Please stop jumping through random portals, I might lose you one day”  Nyxie was talking to @commander-luna‘s dragonvari, Sol (Will be uploading screens and story for Nyxarenn and Solaris soon!)  9) Your OC is having a nightmare. What is it? Tomomi Hayashi, my oldest & my one of my mains - he’s a sylvari weaver His nightmare is about his time as a minion of Jormag, having dealt with Mordremoth & everything else - he never expected to fall under the dragon’s command so when he’s brought out of it again he spends around a year recovering, he very often will get nightmares and wake up in the middle of the night to a cold grasp on his arm, it can take Canach hours to calm him down and sometimes they don’t even get back to bed afterwards  15) Your OC is given the chance to go back in time. Where do they go and what do they do? this one I actually want to do two on, the random gen gave me Elowen but I want to write for Elowen and Sonas so Elowen would want to go back to see his mother one more time - tell her that she did a good job, that he’s okay Sonas is my ascalonian, she never expected to be woken up 300 years after her death so she would want to go back - as much as this new world is open to the idea of her romance with a charr, this world also has none of her friends in it, everyone she ever knew is gone and dead so if she had a chance. She would go back to be with her friends and family

"Dear diary" for Paps!

Dear Diary

It feels strange that Tyria is not immediately plunging down to another crisis after the death of Kralkatorrik, as it seems that things are peaceful, for once. Quiet, too, it’s a welcome change of pace that there’s no other voices inside my head. Even Aurene’s off to do her Elder Dragon duties, so there’s literally just me and my thoughts. Which can get monotonous at times, so I’ve been thinking about buying an actual place, somewhere nice. Then, I’d get a fern hound, or two, or more, maybe even one of those nightmare pups, see how it’d work out. They’re still basically a dog, right?

Nettle and the Watch seem to have their hands full with another issue soon enough: even I got an invitation to Charrs’ festivies at the Grothmar Valley. While I wouldn’t want to miss a good show, I’m thinking skipping this one, and heading to Far Shiverpeaks. Partly since I’ve been dreaming about a breath of cold air ever since I arrived at the Crystal Desert, but partly thanks to some curious intel Whispers has been gathering at the area. You know me, I’m not the type to sit around doing nothing. I think I’ll ask Rox to join me, I know for certain she’s not looking forward a party of legions and warbands, even if she doesn’t say it out loud.

does your muse like flowers? which ones are their favorite? Oh she LOVES flowers! She spends most of her time studying different flora, she could talk about them for hours. She’s fond of Maguuma lilies because she spent so much time in the jungle. 

does your muse like hugs? what are their hugs like? She’s a very touchy type of person. She’s always finding ways to be close to or touch the people she loves, it helps her feel connected to them. So she loves giving hugs. Her hugs with her girlfriend Cami are very sweet, full of gentle face touches and soft whispers and giggles. Her hugs with Jannu are silly because of the height difference, she likes to pick her up and twirl around while Jannu gets fake angry and demands to be let go. 

is your muse good at flirting? how do they flirt? She’s very good with words, but more so on paper. She writes Cami the most beautiful, flowery love letters when she’s away. She’s not very good at being suggestive, her flirting style tends to be more complimentary and sweet.

3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)

I think they keep working on the forge or some other engineering project until they’re too tired to stay awake, and just fall face first to sleep (they can’t sleep on their back, since the forge). Probably more than few times they’ve just fallen asleep on their workbench.

4. How easy is it to earn their trust?

It might seem easy, as they in general can give an air of friendliness, but it’s like that shrek quote, there’s layers in this onion! or eggplant. And trying to get past those layers and actually get that trust is not something easy at all.

5. How easy is it to earn their mistrust?

If someone is acting either over-friendly, or sketchy, like it seems it’s a cover of some sort. They’re whispers’, so they don’t trust first appearances in general.

9. Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?

They swear quite a lot. First swear would have been “thorns!” or “mulch!” or similar sylvari curse.

11. How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?

Depending on the situation, fake it till you make it, or seek answers if possible.

20. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?

“Platonic love’s an easy one, right? You’re like, pals or partners-in-crime, that kind of stuff. Familial love is caring for people who are close to you. Romantic, it’s...I don’t wanna talk about that.”

22. How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?

I think they’re the type to seek some sort of justification for their feelings, like if they’re jealous of someone being something they are not, Pops would be like “that person doesn’t deserve that because x reason”. They would likely nitpick or complain about something totally unrelated in order to vent their feelings.

36. Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?

More like they actively avoid romance, mostly since for the most part of the story, they haven’t been a place where they could deal with the trauma they have when it comes to romantic relationships. 

B) What inspired you to create them?

They were my first character, and I wanted them to look nice.

D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?

In an earlier look, their skin was more dark blue, and hair was elonian wine (plus they had beard!)

Then I changed the face model, and played around with hair colors

until I made the look they currently have. I still need to figure how to draw beard on them, but gotta work with what the game has.

E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?

I’d love to get along with them, but I don’t know if they’d like me that much xD

1. what would completely break your character?

People losing their trust in hir, failing people’s expectations, doing all ze can but still losing someone important to hir (all things that have happened)

6. what is your character reluctant to tell people?

How unsure ze feels, and of hir doubts and fears of not being good enough.

10. what would your character make a scene in public about?

It would be something rare, since public image is important to hir. So it would be over something rather important & in which they would react very emotionally. Definitely would make a scene also if someone else were treated unfairly.

A flora headcanon!

The flora on a sylvari’s head can reflect a physical or emotional state the said sylvari is in: If they are sick or emotionally distraught, the flora can wilt, a shock or moment of trauma can even cause the flowers to fall off. In general, a blooming flower can be a mark of vitality or intense emotion. Usually the flora is stronger than what one would expect from a flower, and so it doesn’t fall off on it’s own or get pulled easily, unless the flora is seasonal variety. Giving someone one’ own flower is seen as a deep sign of devotion and trust. Sylvari have also created complex meanings for different kinds of flowers, and if someone wishes not to give mixed signals, a non-sylvari better ask a sylvari friend first before giving any bouquets as a gift.

“You can’t keep doing this.”

The pavilion was engulfed in a chaos as the watchknights were turned against their former human masters. Seraphs and champions alike pressed to hold the mechanical tide, as the panicked civilians scrambled to evacuate. Above it all a lone figure of sylvari was twirling in absolute, wicked glee, watching her plan unfold. A sylvari who Papaver had been familiar with once, but with a different name.

They pushed past the fight, shouting at the other sylvari: “Ceara!”

Scarlet Briar’s gleeful demeanor dropped slightly when she heard someone call her with the name she had abandoned, but she picked the act back up: “Oh, you’re attending the Queen’s party too! How do you like my gift to them? Marvelous, isn’t it!”

Papaver wasn’t amused by her antics: “What on thorns has gotten into you? You can’t keep doing this!”

“Oh, but I can~! That’s the fun part!” Scarlet Briar jeered in a singsong voice, “If you don’t like it, just try and stop me! The clock’s ticking~!” The sylvari disappeared as a rain of arrows from Rox hit the platform Scarlet had been perching on.

Rox made her way to Papaver, and asked: “You know her? How?”

“From a long time ago”, Papaver admitted and continued, “let’s gather who we can, we need to end this quickly.”

1) Are they woodier or leafier? Succulent, deciduous, evergreen?

Woodier, on surface it’s similar to a bark, but it gets more softer inside. Their hair is the only more leafier part of them. They are closest to deciduous, but that usually happens in response to their emotional state, like hair wilting and changing colour after something traumatic. 

2) were they modeled after a specific plant? If not, what was your inspiration?

They aren’t really based on any plant, despite the name. Papaver was my first character, and I like purple. I think those were the two biggest things. 

3) what kind of climate are they most comfortable in?

Cool and colder climates, since their forge works as a heater.

4) what kin of climate are they least comfortable in?

Hot and dry climates, since the forge overheats more quickly, which makes it more dangerous to use.

5) what’s their relationship with gender?

They don’t really resonate with any particular gender, but like to present masculine.

6) what’s their relationship with the Pale Tree?

A bit distant. I think they even resent her a bit for being such a passive figure, but they still love her.

7) how do they react to Mordremoth when they first hear him?

I’m really feeling this scene from Steven Universe, so I’m gonna go with that.

While they do resist Mordemoth’s influence, they also slip up a few times. This is how they grow the horns, mainly.

8) during what cycle were they born?

Pops a dawn bloom!

9) what are their opinions on Trahearne?

They respect his calm-headiness and analytical mind, and they think he’s a better strategist than he gives himself credit for. The two met once or twice in a mission to Orr, since before the Pact only few were foolish enough to brave the dangers, and your chance of success doubled if you teamed up with the rest of the fools.

10) would they take selfies?

When they feel they look good. More the type to have a photo account for cute dogs they’ve seen (as they don’t yet have own dog)

11) random headcanon!

Even though in-game I have them as the chef, they are actually pertty lousy cook. Not a kitchen in fire kinda cook, but still, you’d be better off eating in a tavern or anywhere else.

12) how old are they?

They are 4th generation of Sylvari, so I’d imagine they awoke a bit after Faolain and Caithe had their falling out, and the Nightmare Court established themselves.

13) what does their love life look like, if they have one?

It looks bad, tbh. They can have a casual sex partner here and there, but no loving since the Nightmare Court incident during their sapling years. They are probably not in a good place to love anyone either, but after some major things being resolved, and having finally time for themselves at present, they’ll be finally able to do some healing.

14) what did they see in their Dream?They don’t remember their Dream, and it had always bothered them a bit.

15) favorite thing about playing your salad?I love the Holosmith as a class, it was my favourite to play as until they nerfed the forge. Plus I like the VA for male sylvari, especially during HoT, the way he made the character sound like they’re on the edge all the time??? delicious.

16) what armor set are they currently wearing?

Dragon’s crown (shiny), T1 Sylvari shoulders, Nightmare Court coat, T3 sylvari gloves, halloween noble pants, T3 sylvari boots, Caithe’s bloom sword and Glint’s shield

17) do they have a favorite major city?

They like Rata Sum the most, they like how the city is chaotic and in symmetry at the same time.

18) what’s their favorite food?

Spicy foods, such as sweet and spicy butternut soup. Also a sweet tooth.

19) least favorite food?Does Tyria have liquorice? If so, it’s that.

20) their biggest secret?

Pops has problems with alcohol, but they rarely drink in public. Stays sober after PoF.

3. “I’m not jealous.”

The group had set camp in Rata Novus, one of the few relatively safe areas in Tangled Depths. Tomorrow, they would prepare the Ley Line cannons to blast a way open to Dragon’s Stand, but tonight they would find rest, if they could. Papaver and Nettle had taken the first watch, and while there few glances exchanged, likely about the fact that two sylvari would be the ones awake, no one had not raised a fuss. Low hum of ancient Asuran technology brought back to life mixed with the far-away pulse of the Dragon, and to divert their attention from that, Papaver was first to talk:

“A commander and a champion of a dragon, eh? You’re certainly moving up in the world.”

“I suppose I am. And are you feeling overshadowed by your junior?“ Nettle replied. Oh, things were definitely bad if ze had started joking.

Still, Papaver managed to get out a bit of a laugh, and said: “Nah, I’m not jealous. You wear the big hero cape far better than I could.”

Nettle smiled, and sighed: “It’s certainly also a heavy one.”

“Hey, you’re not alone in this”, Papaver motioned the resting group, “you’ve got our support, they’ve stuck with us this far, and will see everything to its end. And it’ll be a victorious one.”

Nettle looked like ze wanted to say something else, but then decided simply to reply: “Thank you”.

Rest of their shift passed in seemingly silence, though if you were to listen too closely, you could still hear the muffled whispers of the dragon.

💧 What’s the worst pain your OC has ever been in? Mental or physical? What was the cause of this?

I think nearly burning alive when they were captured by nightmare court is the worst one. A fire broke in the camp, but no one knew what or who was the cause. The courtesans fled in panic, leaving the prisoners behind.

🔷 Has your OC ever had to leave something behind or abandon something they didn’t want to? Have they ever had this happen to them? How has this effected them over the years?

For a long time between leaving Ziassi's lab to Zhaitan's defeat, they have been drifting in their life, trying out places and lovers but also eventually left them behind, unable to take root on anything or anyone. When they start leading the rag-tag team that eventually becomes Dragon's Watch, they start learning how to stay.
