Hey, Siblings & Niblings!
I know, it's been a minute since Auntie Nesha spoke to folk, but I have to tell you about a new blog that I believe is very important. Shoutout to my good sis, Sleepy for setting out on this journey and I encourage anybody who follows me here to follow this blog.
I've often ranted about the treatment of Black femme characters in media, one of those being I get SICK of having to see them die. So, this spot helps us to know, if we don't already: Does the Black femme die?
Keep in mind, it is new, so there aren't many entries yet, but it should grow and hopefully be as well received as blackfemmecharacterdepency was for nearly 4 full years.

if mrs flood doesn’t turn out to be the most complex, narrative-changing character in doctor who, i’ll riot.

The rtd2 era thus far has been at it's core about the immense power of middle-aged/old women.

For the love of everything please tell me I wasn't the only one disappointed by the ending of Solo Leveling...
I've never been a fan of stories that roll back all the plot advancement in the end, a la Deus Ex Machina, but I think it's particularly yucky when it's clear the creator wrote themself into a corner and is trying desperately to backpedal.
I think it could've been good if we'd simply left off on Jinwoo beating the Dragon King and everyone begining to rebuild. His strategy was solid and I'd even accept the Rulers showing up at the last second (maybe even with dumb potential season 3 bait about still needing to "deal with them"), but the fact that even after his victory he just said "nah, too many people died, screw this I'm erasing everything" is just...
So.... anti-climactic?
Because here's the thing: Jinwoo is fundamentaly speaking, kind of an asshole.
That's what makes him such an interesting and compelling character!!!!!
So the fact that he'd go back and give up on his victory, and on being the Strongest Ever™ just to save a bunch of people he never knew....
Just kind of seems to come out of left field? His family is safe, the people he cares about are safe, the only person who sorta painfully kicked the bucket who he genuinely cared about was Gunhee, but that's not even brought up as a point for why he'd want to restart everything!
You could potentially argue that he did it because of his father, but that didn't have nearly enough emotional investment for me to buy it. Plus, he got to have a teary goodbye confrontation with the guy. (Which I also have a bone to pick with, but oh well.)
So yeah. I'm not... Really a fan of the last 30 or so chapters. Which sucks, because Solo Leveling is SUCH an awesome story that kept the momentum going right until it fumbled and dropped the ball at the end.
There's a bunch of dropped plot threads and ideas that went nowhere that I wish got resolved instead of what is basically Cursed Child Two, Electric Boogaloo
But anyways, the story was fun and I'd like to hear other's option on this. Too bad the tumblr tag is just screenshots and smut :T

seeing people who install hundreds of mods and then go to discord to complain their loading times take ages does things to whatever remains of my brain.

Like I REALLY get why people have a certain read of the Feanorian wives but also:
A) it's so intensely interesting to me when people are quasi-normal in peacetime but the moment stress is placed upon a relationship their priorities are really fucking clear, and I love to think the famed Feanorian ruthlessness is something that freaks out quite a few of the wives that haven't fully drunk the kool-aid.
B) when you have a little more distance from a situation/trauma you're more likely to be rational about AND to think someone who's closer to the trauma is acting irrationally. Which is literally the whole of the Feanorian/Fingolfinian dynamic in a nutshell: everyone is acting irrationally! Everyone has centuries if not millennia worth of alliances and agreements and history that inform their next approach to a problem! But if you're standing outside of that thicket you're left wondering: what the actual fuck is wrong with these people.
C) a bit more of a meta textual point but the point of the Feanorians is that they're alone. They drive off everyone over the course of the Silm. They break their oaths and they break the laws and they break all bounds of morality. They are left by the end of the First Age with only two of a once proud family: no servants left, no friends, no family, just Maedhros and Maglor. And having those warning signs be there from the beginning? Fantastic. The wives leave, following Nerdanel, and the sons leave, following Feanor. It's the circle of life (abuse) baby!
D) toying with the idea of women as the torchbearers of cultural heritage is in fact an interesting tension: and I just flat out think these women saying that's it we can't and don't want to participate in this farce (because we know it's a farce and a tragedy and how it will end) fucks really hard! They say No and Not like this and Even if I thought you were right I do not think it is worth it. All of which are worthwhile views to be had, and, perhaps more importantly, views that aren't discussed or even mentioned in the actual books.

Dude, I literally roll my eyes and cringe a bit when this site squeaks about “ZOMFGGGG THE MCU IS JUST LIKE THE COMICS!!!” And like, it’s not just with Loki either. It’s any modern MCU film this site dances in the street over and celebrates for being “JuSt lIkE tHe CoMiCs!!1!1” The MCU has flooded all the comic tags. I can’t look up any comic tag anymore without the flooding. My God, it’s annoying. It’s annoying as hell.
MCU fans- I beg of you. I know you think the modern phases are “more comic accurate and an improvement” (They’re not comic accurate but go off…) But pleeaasssee keep the MCU out of the comic tag. You guys have your own tags.
