All day, I have been doing my best to avoid manipulations regarding the consequences of russians blowing up Kahovka HPP Bridge, but as the catastrophe unfolds, grim understanding kicks in. Many elderly people and people with mobility issues were not able to evacuate before the water flooded their houses. We won't know the extent of the losses until or if the water recedes. Same with domestic animals, animals from the zoo, and rare wildlife species. Thousands of people in the South of Ukraine are losing their homes and being displaced as I am writing this in Kyiv.
Meanwhile, the water washes away mines planted by russian soldiers, and they detonate uncontrollably, floating in the current. Also, russians continue to shell the region to hinder the evacuation efforts of Ukrainian authorities.
Fertile lands are being lost to the flood. This is a huge blow to Ukrainian agriculture and a direct threat not only to ourselves but also to the livelihoods of many countries in the Global South dependent on Ukrainian crops.
The Southern regions of Ukraine are about to face technical and drinking water shortages. Some parts are controlled by Ukraine and may count on humanitarian support. Others are currently under russian occupation, i.e., completely on their own in the face of devastating, life-threatening tragedy.
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is currently occupied by russians, is likely to lose a lot of water used for its cooling systems. russians have also been intimidating and torturing its staff, who stayed there to avert nuclear catastrophe amid the occupation.
This is hell. We can only hope to save as many lives as possible. No country would inflict something so monstrous on itself. Please do not be fooled by the so-called ambiguity promoted by russian propaganda and some Western media. Kahovka HPP Bridge has been mined by russians for months and overlooked by the allies of Ukraine despite frequent warnings by our authorities.
This is a russian doing. This is a war crime under the Geneva Conventions. This is an act of terror and ecocide sponsored by the russian people.

Since the world began, divine magicks have mingled with the natural power of the elements, giving life to primordial beings known as elementals. In modern times, human technology has given new sources of power to the world. Thus, in the reactor of a nuclear power plant was born Dazhbog, the world’s first nuclear radiation elemental.
Wandering from his birthplace, Dazhbog was first discovered by local teen Ronnie Raymond, who quickly befriended him, and soon after by Ronnie’s evil physics professor Martin Stein, who wanted to capture and study him. It was sort of an E.T./Iron Giant situation, you get it. When their conflict inevitably became violent, Dazhbog accidentally exploded them both. There wasn’t enough of their bodies left over to save either of them, but Dazhbog realized he could use himself as a living fusion reactor to fuse them all into a single being. So he did.
As a gestalt being, the three minds act as one for the most part, with no individual “in control”. They are, in a sense, a whole new person, with elements of each--Ronnie’s youthful exuberance, Dazhbog’s innocence, and Stein’s brilliance. They are all conscious within the whole to some extent, however, and sometimes argue with each other. One may even occasionally wrest control if he feels more strongly than the other two (such as Ronnie’s insistence on the name “Firestorm”, which Stein doesn’t think makes sense for a nuclear-powered being). Fortunately, between Ronnie’s desire for action and adventure, Dazhbog’s desire to protect both people and nature, and Stein’s desire for power, they all agreed to be a superhero together.
Firestorm can use his power over nuclear force and his corresponding “subatomic senses” to transmute matter into any chemical he can think of. He can change the physical shape of matter as well, though the more complicated the shape the more difficult it is. He even has some control over his own atomic structure, being able to alter his density to slip through tiny gaps in solid matter, become light enough to float on air, or become dense enough to simulate super strength and invulnerability. He can also fire off “clean” nuclear blasts by quickly reabsorbing any lingering radiation his attacks emit.
Ronnie and Stein, meanwhile, soon regained enough strength and spare matter to be able to separate again temporarily. But they can’t survive apart for more than a day or so. Hijinks ensue!

CITIES
A full list of what a modern / sci-fi city needs. You can incorporate many elements into your fantasy city as well. Of course you don't need this many things, but sometimes it can help your story if you understand and think about how your world works.
Electricity and energy resources
If your city has electricity, or anything similar to it, it's worth considering where this energy comes from. Is it renewable energy, or not? Is it something else entirely? (Is it magic?) These buildings and facilities are usually located on the outskirt of cities.
Windmill Location: Flat planes, maybe even deserts. Tailor it: break up the structure of a today's windmill: e.g. what if they are way bigger, or people live in it, etc
Nuclear Power Plant Location: Anywhere, in space, under the water, in the sky, inside the terrain. Prompts: What about accidents? Secret labs inside the plant?
Storm Power Plant Location: Almost anywhere, in the sky, in space, on space ships, planes, etc. Further ideas: tornados, harvesting lightning, harvesting the power of the wind with fortified windmills, sun storms in space.
Water related power plants Using the energy of a flowing river,sea waves, or even a vortex.
Burning power plant Burning trash, coal, diesel, gases or your world's fuel. This can be very polluting in your world, which can add up to your worldbuilding: green activist wants this plant closed, people getting sick aournd the plant, etc.
Geaothermal Power Plant Using the planet's heat to generate energy. You can put this anwhere on your ground or under.
Solar Power Plants These need a lot of place. If you are also making a map, be sure to add these on places where they actually get sunlight. (Don't put them on the north side of a mountain.) prompts: what if somebody covers them on purpose?
Health, Life and Death
All health and mental health related facilities (even for pets). Tailor these to your worlds problems, diseases and conditions (e.g. cyberpsychosis in Cyberpunk 2077) You can put these fqacilities, together, or even in a very different location, for example a floating private clinic above the city. You can even use virtual worlds as a twist.
Hospitals and clinics General hospitals, clinics and private ones.
Doctor's office
Ambulance station
Cyberware repair clinic
Drug Rehabilitation Centers
Vets Vets for people's pets, you can even add robot vets, for robot pets.
Nursing Homes Home for the elderly.
Asylums Home for people with serious mental health problems.
Pharmacies Are these private? Are there black market versions? What medicines can you buy here?
Dentist Promp questions: Are there any unique procedures? Do people's teeth are different? What about dentists for different species?
Sanatorium These usually are in the nicest parts of a city in the outskirts. They do have big gardens too. It can be even in space too, or even virtually.
Morgue Story tips: you can include a place like this for investigations or horror elements.
Cemetry Before diving deep into this one, state how your people bury their loved ones. The method the whole cemetry. Here are some burial types from the world:- Leaving the body in nature (or space)- Embalming, and preserving- Leaving in water (or space), or let it sail away on a ship- Burning the body (by fire, or by sunfire), and placing the urns in a sacred place (space, ground, buildings, etc.)- Buring the body under ground
Crematorium Used if your people burn bodies.
Quarantine zone
Misc Essentials
As these are essentials, they can be targets in a conflict. This can help your story further.
Fire station
Water tower (and storage) If it doesn't come from a pshysically higher place.
Server buildings
Lighthouse
Transportation and Travel
Transportation can change a lot in a scifi high tech world. I often grab a real concept and put into a different enviroment. Train? Space - Train. Jetski? Sun wave - jetski.When building transportation, think about:- where these vehicles are stored- where you can access the service,- who repairs them and where- where do they go when they are no longer used. These types of transports all have office centers, and they are usually different corporations and companies.If the parking lots or hangars are abonded, it can be a place where homeless people gathered, and live.
Bus stations, depot, stops and repair garages
Spaceship (or airplane) ports, hangars and repair hangars Don't forget to add ports and hangars for military, trading and public transport spaceships.
Metro stations, metro depot
Taxi stations, depot
Ship ports On rivers, sea, ocean, or the sky. (for flying ships but not spaceships.) Don't forget to about military, trading and public transport. These ports can be just platfroms.
Parking lots Multi storey car park.
Rental Renting the vehicles you have in your city, spacehips, cars, ships, etc.
Travel agencies
Fuel stations gas stations for cars, taxies and buses, and fueal stations for spaceships, and ships.Prompts questions: Where are these located? Is there possibility of shortage?
Package receiving point (or drop point)
Warehouses (personal, corporations, cars, etc)
Housing & Homes
Housing is an interesting part of building a city. I advise you to look around in your enviroment, and in the world how people live in different countries. You can always twist these ideas by putting them into a different enviroments (e.g.: shipping containers as living space, in a frosty enviroment, and people use fur to cover the insides for insulation.)
Luxury flats, and houses
Middle class flats, and houses
Lower class flats, and houses
Huge flat blocks (all are the same, available for all classes)
Prebuilt houses (all are the same, available for all classes)
Houses made of different elements You can vary as you want, example: Mass Effect colonies
Shipping containers as homes
Discarded vehicles as homes
Shelters For people, sentient robots, animals, robot animals.
Hotels
Motels
Food and Plants
Questions: Where does food come from in your city? Is it from outside of the city, or does it have some facilities to create food? Where does that food go? How is the food situation in your city? Do people make food at home, or order, or eat prepackaged food?
Grain Processing Plant
Crop fields If you have crops, is there a fungi or incest that is destroying crops? Or an organization?
Restaurants
Cafés
Drive-ins
Fast food restaurant chains
Bakery
Pastry Factory or any factory that makes food that is in everybody's lives, out of the plant the city has on its crop fields.
Food Packaging Factories
Food Processing Plants
Green houses
Nature reserve
Plant nurseries
Ranches for livestock
Slaughterhouses (or syntethic meat producing facilities)

Elementary school
Kindergarten
High School
University
Music School
Library
Science center
Research Facility
Museum
Conservatory
Entertainment and Services
Entertainment and Services are a big part of every day lives. How much fun people have in this city? How much time do people have? Does this have black and extreme sides? Are there regulations in place? Is there a disctrict just for party time or doe poeple do this all around the city?
Ferris-wheel
Bars and Pubs (eg. Vape Bar)
Skating rink (ice, scifi ice skate, etc)
Brothel
Arcade
Arena / Stadium (depends on the setting, and nature of the events held here)
Stripper bar
Dance studio

Spa
Aquapark
Fighting rings People, robots, animals, etc. Where is this ring? Are these illegal?
Aquarium
VR café
Circus
Theatre
Zoo
Bowling alley (or any other alley for this type of entertainment)
Racetracks Animals, robots. How much of are these legal? Are there any bets placed on the racers?

Made perhaps a Mistake reading about nuclear accidents over my lunch break, not only because it freaked me out a bit (I'm usually very pro-nuclear, I grew up next to a power plant and everything, it's just that reading about radioactive dust getting traded around town as a quirky commodity has me reacting like watching a horror movie through one's fingers), but because now my brain is whirring too loudly for me to focus on my work. It started because I was watching White Collar, actually, and Neal's reference to cesium dating counterfeit wine got me curious. The idea that there's an entire substance we as a species introduced to the world (more or less) that's just floating around out there, that there is a very defined era split such that in a real way, time (of a certain variety) began in 1945... It's fascinating, in a sort of macabre way. Spent an hour indulging a Wikipedia spiral and now I want to do some deep-dive reading sometime.

Quince (2011) by Tomoaki Yoshida and Takeshi Nishimura, Future Robotics Technology Center (fuRo), Chiba Institute of Technology, and Tohoku University, Japan. "Quince was developed to perform on-site surveys for use in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) accidents. "Hypothetical disasters include accidents at plants handling toxic substances, leaks of hazardous chemicals from chemical plants, explosions, and acts of terror like the notorious subway sarin incident. Risks are particularly high in enclosed spaces (underground and inside buildings), and expectations are high for robots as they will protect officers from secondary disasters. Quince surveyed the inside of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant whose damages were caused by the East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011. Quince, with modifications for operations at nuclear power plants, has photographed the details of the buildings of the power plant, created radiation dose maps, and sampled radioactive materials floating in the air. It has been helping to reduce the radiation dose of on-site workers and to shorten the work period." – Future Robotics Technology Center (fuRo).
" “When I think about it now,” Yoshida says, “I feel like we really did manage to achieve something with it. All of Japan was in a panic back then, and we were talking about overhauling design plans for a robot that wasn’t even finished. All kinds of people started shouting at us. ‘Are you still working on that?! Hurry up!’ But really, I was impressed that we adapted Quince into something that could function in a nuclear plant in just three months.” … During a mission to investigate the fifth floor of the second reactor building — the first time robots had been used to investigate that building — Quince’s communications cable disconnected, and the robot was left stranded on the building’s third floor. According to officials, it is still there today." – Fukushima Rescue Robots and the Men Who Made Them, by Wataru Tsuchiya.

I love Etrian Odyssey. It's one of my all-time favourite game series, and I've devoted a hell of a lot of time to it, both playing the games and creating my own little stories surrounding it on the side. But the overarching lore has always been confusing to me, especially since I, embarassingly, haven't finished a single game (I, sadly, struggle to finish games in general, nowadays). I like bringing characters from one installment to another, deciding that they continued to adventure after the events of their game had finished, but, in doing so, I accidently warped the timeline - or what little information we have about the timeline, at least. EO5 is apparently a prequel to the rest of the games in the series, set eons before EO1, but, considering I have characters from my EO5 guild in my Nexus one, this doesn't really make any logical sense. I want my little guys from EO5 to still be alive and kicking in Nexus! So I decided to rewrite the lore and reform the timeline to suit the way I play the games, because why not? Most of it is the same, and I've probably left out some crucial details, however I have tweaked some things and given certain plot points more weight, as I felt it made more sense that way. Also, I kind of just want a place for myself that has an entire breakdown of the lore, so this is partially that, too.
So, I present (with, obviously, a spoiler warning):
Etrian Odyssey: My Version of Events!
~~~
Eons ago, a race of alien beings known as the Arken explored the universe, hopping from planet to planet to rebuild ecosystems after various factors left them destroyed, one such factor being an insidious, power-hungry entity known as the Abyssal God, who, after settling on a planet, would spawn an invasive species, taking it over. In order to help restore each desolate planet, the Arken planted special trees known as Yggdrasil Trees, which allowed life to thrive in the surrounding areas. On their mission to revitalise the universe, the Arken found a planet void of life, ruled over another cruel being known as the Eternal Tyrant. This planet, unbeknownst to them, was Mars, and the Arken, true to their actions up until this point, wanted to save it. They planted another Yggdrasil Tree, temporarily imprisoning the Eternal Tyrant in a giant biodome in the planet's stratosphere to allow the sapling to grow and purify the world.
People on Earth, thousands of years later, deployed ships to Mars after discovering it was actually inhabitable due to the giant tree residing on its surface. Earth was in bad shape, and had been ravaged by the effects of climate change and nuclear war - many felt the need to escape in order to be able to continue living life. These people would go on to live on Mars for generations, mutating into different but still human-adjacent races due to the tree, which had interesting effects on them. Those left behind on Earth still attempted survival, although onerously. The ruler and wealthy citizens of the nation of Lagaard decided to construct a floating city, which they retreated to in order to escape the hardships and danger of life down below. The commonfolk stayed in the capital city, trying to make do with what they had.
During this time, the Abyssal God landed on Earth, fleeing from the pursuit another Yggdrasil Tree. This tree, unlike the rest created by the Arken, was sentient, and was made specifically to find and destroy the Abyssal God, as the race wanted to end its reign of chaos and destruction. The Abyssal God managed to find refuge under one of Earth's oceans, spawning a race later known as the Deep Ones in order to start a war with the remaining humans and wipe out the planet, though it was quickly stopped by the Yggdrasil Tree, which trapped it beneath its roots. The tree was able to contact the ruler of the nearby city of Armoroad for assistance, and he agreed to sink parts of the area in order to help fight off the rest of the Deep Ones who were not sealed. These sunken parts of Armoroad were later known as the Deep City. With the help of the tree, the ruler gained access to great technology, allowing the city to prosper further, and created an army of intelligent robots to fend off the evil creatures, later uploading his and his followers' consciences to them in order to achieve immortality and continue neutralising the looming threat.
A while later, researchers and scientists investigated this strange tree and were surprised to find that it helped restore the nearby environment, purifying the air and allowing life to thrive. Full of hope, they decided to take samples to artificially reproduce similar trees across the rest of the dying planet. This was dubbed the Yggdrasil Project, and they were able to cultivate seven more trees, which helped cleanse many areas of the world. All of them, however, affected the environment and people around them in strange ways over the centuries, just as the tree on Mars did: mutating humans, flora and fauna; spawning other creatures; and growing out of control. In order to continue maintaining the trees, those working on the project created artificial races able to withstand their unpredictable nature. They also implemented kill switches that would destroy each tree if they spiralled out of hand. The Yggdrasil Tree near the city of Tharsis began corrupting itself during this time, mutating into a being known as Heavenbringer, which spread a disease called the Titan's Curse, causing plants to grow within any affected creature, slowly killing them. As such, the kill switch in this tree, know later as the Insatiable Pupa, became corrupted, too. After several containment failures, which left many dead, it was finally sealed, and those in Tharsis managed to stop the tree in its wake, teaming up with the servitor races to bring a new era of peace. A scientist and pioneer of the Lagaardian branch of the Yggdrasil Project, who was now attempting to obtain immortality, discovered the remains of an ancient floating city, once home to his ancestors, and was able to rebuild it, escaping to the skies above the tree in order to continue his experiments. Most of them failed, creating monstrosities, and so he turned to experimenting on himself, which resulted in his genes mutating and him turning into a monstrosity, too.
Hundreds of years passed, and researchers and scientists in the nation of Lemuria were intrigued by the fully-grown trees, and took further samples from each one, grafting a bigger tree in their nation's centre. This tree produced greater results than all the others - taking on aspects from its predecessors and spreading to each surrounding island - and became a safe haven for many in the surrounding wasteland, as well as those travelling across the seas. As such, the area became overpopulated, and the Lemurian king decided to stop accepting refugees. This sparked a war with the Seafarers, who took his words as a declaration of war, invading and attacking the nation. In retaliation, the Lemurians developed a weapon to repel the invading forces, which backfired and caused immense destruction, killing everyone not of Lemurian blood. This weapon was sealed away under the tree by a Lemurian princess, who died in the process, and the rest of the royal family fled the scene for reasons unknown.
Sometime during all of this, the Arken checked in on Mars and found that it was thriving and populated, its people living in a realm called Arcania, which was split into four main nations: Melas, Sidonia, the Bloodwood Forest, and the Chryse Prairie. They also realised that the Eternal Tyrant's seal was waning, and so, in order to stop it from ravaging the planet a second time, they blended in with the masses and began spreading false legends to the planet's people (obfuscating the threat so as to not send everyone into a panic), which were then passed down through generations, spurring on the Arcanians to explore the labyrinth that had grown within the tree and, ultimately, destroy the entity for good. Gathering in and journeying from the city of Iorys, adventurers delved into the labyrinth, discovering that it housed danger and destruction despite maintaining life on the planet. Those on Earth, too, made a similar discovery, realising that the Yggdrasil Trees invited their own share of disaster due to their alien and unpredictable nature. They obviously wanted to explore these tree labyrinths, too, so they did, setting up adventuring guilds and sending teams of explorers and researchers in to find out more. The people of both planets also happened upon a certain kind of magical energy, which came to be because of the trees. Those on Mars discovered this earlier than those on Earth, however. This magical energy was enhanced and condensed by scientists in order to be used by others, mostly in the form of magical tools and weapons. Certain individuals also developed innate pools of magical energy due to a genetic mutation from the trees, which was passed on to future generations, and were able to train themselves to harness it.
Hundreds of years later, the events of EO1, 2, 3 and 4 happen, all sequentially and within a similar timeframe. Explorers from across the world filtered into the cities of Etria, High Lagaard, Armoroad and Tharsis, and were able to uncover the history of the planet; its people; the trees; the labyrinths; and the Yggdrasil Project during their expeditions, documentation of which had been mostly lost to time at this point.
Years later, the events of EO5 happened. Those on Mars, who, at this point in time, had forgotten all about Earth, learned of its existence thanks to a certain adventuring guild, who managed to climb their way to the top of the Yggdrasil Tree's labyrinth and enter the biodome, meeting an Arken along the way who informed them of the Eternal Tyrant, as well as their race's plan to help revitalise dead or dying planets across the universe. The guild was able to defeat the evil entity, and were also told of another, curious planet, which had somehow created its own Yggdrasil Trees, yet still needed help in its restoration. This planet was Earth. Despite Arcania's development of advanced technology, of which was far greater than Earth's, they had not attempted space travel, their focus fixed on their own planet. The people of Earth, too, had no way of traversing space, as all knowledge of this was lost to time, and so were unaware that there were beings living on Mars, or that Mars was terraformed at all. The Arken sent fleets of ships to Mars in order to transport those who wished to travel to Earth, which were wiped out by a god-like being known as the Star Devourer. This entity also wiped out several other Arken fleets, as well as much of their home planet, and was headed towards Mars. The newly-famed guild managed to defeat it, and was met with immense gratitude from the Arkens, who resumed their plan and sent more ships over as a means of reaching Earth.
Many Arcanians travelled there, indeed finding life on the planet. They also discovered that they were able to breathe fine due to the Yggdrasil Trees on Earth stemming from those the Arken created, including the one on Mars. The people of Earth were shocked when they spotted fleets of ships headed towards them, but many held out hope that they were on their way to help. Over the proceeding years, the Arcanians assimilated into Earth's society, despite being alien. Of course, many people on Earth were frightened of them, but due to the fact they appeared human - or, at least, in some cases, human enough - and displayed similarities to many of the mutated humans already on Earth, they were mostly fine to coexist with them. Those from Mars offered many unique perspectives on things, and became fast-famed inventors, scientists, architects, teachers and artisans. Many joined explorers' guilds, as they had prior experience in adventuring, cartography and combat.
Then, one day, word is spread of a descendant of the Lemurian royal family, who is attempting to bolster the support of the masses to finally explore the Lemurian Yggdrasil Tree, believing it holds a treasure that brings eternal prosperity. This tree and, subsequently, it's labyrinth, had gone unexplored for a quite a long time, and many researchers, scientists and adventurers were keen to uncover its secrets. Thus, many people banded together with the descendant to create the floating city of Maginia, which was built fairly quickly and was only made possible due to the Arcanians' vast knowledge of advanced technology. The descendant was crowned its princess, and lead the expedition with many explorers - new and old - in tow.
~~~
Now my little guys can coexist without the need for time travel! All of my EO guilds and such will be in this modified universe (which means everyone in my EO5 guild are still around in EON). I also feel like this version of events makes more sense to me, especially with EO5 happening before EON, because not only can you pick from every available portrait in the series in that game, but there are classes from EO5, too, that I feel like wouldn't be in there unless it happened not too long beforehand. Honestly, the main issue with this timeline of events is that people would probably be freaking out that a bunch of people came down from Mars and are now just... living with them? And most of them accept this? Unrealistic. Also, I had no idea the EON tree was actually grafted from the rest of the trees, hence why its labyrinth bears similaries with their's - I completely made this plot point up, and then upon further research, realised that that is actually what happened. So there you go.
I better go finish the games, now.

Update June 7, 2023
(There are a lot of accusations flying around as to why the Kakhovka Dam ruptured. Ukraine says one thing, Russia says another. Propaganda is everywhere. I personally do not believe that Ukraine blew up their own dam, endangering the lives of thousands of people, ruining acres of farmland, killing countless animals, and disrupting electricity to thousands more. However, I can just report what the news is saying and do my best not to post something I can prove is fake news. Links here and here for charities in Ukraine.)
Under the cut:
Ukraine warned of the danger of floating mines unearthed by flooding and the spread of disease and hazardous chemicals on Wednesday as senior officials inspected damage caused by the collapse of the vast Kakhovka hydro-electric dam.
Ukrainian troops have advanced up to 1,100 metres near the eastern city of Bakhmut in the past 24 hours, Kyiv said on Wednesday, the first gains it has reported since Russia said Ukraine had started a counter-offensive.
Engineering and munitions experts point to a deliberate explosion as the most logical reason behind the Kakhovka dam explosion, the New York Times reported on June 7. A mass humanitarian and ecological disaster unfolded after the Kakhovka dam collapsed around 2:50 a.m. on June 6. According to the Ukrainian authorities, the dam was blown up by Russian forces to prevent a Ukrainian counter-offensive.
Britain has said it will increase funding to the UN’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, by £750,000 to support nuclear safety work in Ukraine. The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant gets its cooling water from the reservoir of the Kakhovka dam, which collapsed on Tuesday.
Fighting around Bakhmut “remains the epicenter of hostilities,” Ukraine’s deputy defense minister said Wednesday.
Ukraine warned of the danger of floating mines unearthed by flooding and the spread of disease and hazardous chemicals on Wednesday as senior officials inspected damage caused by the collapse of the vast Kakhovka hydro-electric dam.
Visiting the city of Kherson on the Dnipro river that bisects the country, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said that over 80 settlements had been affected in a disaster which Ukraine and Russia blame on each other.
Blaming the dam's collapse on Russia, Kubrakov said: "They did it in order to free up troops in this direction by flooding this bit of the front line."
Russia, whose troops seized the dam soon after they invaded in February last year, has said Ukraine sabotaged the dam to distract attention from a counteroffensive it said was "faltering".
"I can't even speak now, I can't collect myself," said Lyubov Buryi, 67, who was evacuated from Kherson to a hospital on Tuesday with her 40-year-old son Roman.
"I'm of course awfully angry at (the Russians), I can't even describe it … I don't know what awaits us, our house seems to be destroyed," she said.
Regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said the water had reached a depth of 5.34 metres (17.5 ft) in some places of Kherson, though he said the rise had slowed and could peak by the end of Wednesday.
In Kherson, a large city about 60 km (37 miles) downstream from the destroyed dam, residents have set up makeshift embarkation points for dinghies that police, rescue workers and volunteers are now using to get around.
Kherson faces the Russian-controlled eastern bank of the Dnipro, and some residents have come under fire from Russian artillery as they go about their rescue and recovery work. The thud of artillery is heard almost constantly in the distance.
"Water is disturbing mines that were laid earlier, causing them to explode," Kubrakov, dressed casually in a grey T-shirt, told reporters. As a result of the flooding, chemicals and infectious bacteria were getting into the water, he said.
He said Ukraine had allocated 120 million hryvnias ($3.25 million) allocated to secure the water supply in Mykolaiv, another southern city, and 1.5 billion hryvnias had been set aside to rebuild water mains systems ruined by the flood.
EVACUATION The chief doctor of a Kherson hospital, who asked not to be named because he did not want the hospital to risk retribution, said 136 people had been admitted for treatment because of the flooding. Many were elderly.
"These people had difficulties with their psychological state. These are usually older people. (Some of) these people have chronic illnesses which could get worse," the doctor said.
Ukrainian authorities have evacuated people from 24 flooded settlements and at least 20 settlements are flooded on territory occupied by Russian forces, Kubrakov said.
"We see that the occupation authorities are not evacuating people," he said, calling for the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to help evacuate flood victims in Russian-occupied regions.
Kherson, a city of 279,000 before Russia's full-scale invasion in February last year, was occupied by Russian forces for over eight months until November.
Kubrakov said the water level in the city had risen by 12-16 cm an hour on Tuesday but was now rising at one-two cm an hour.
"It's one of the most terrifying terrorist acts of this war," he said.

Ukrainian troops have advanced up to 1,100 metres near the eastern city of Bakhmut in the past 24 hours, Kyiv said on Wednesday, the first gains it has reported since Russia said Ukraine had started a counter-offensive.
Moscow said this week Kyiv had launched a series of assaults in its partially occupied region of Donetsk, which it said it thwarted, and described them as the start of the planned Ukrainian counter-offensive.
Ukrainian officials have said little directly in response to the Russian assertions although a senior security official on Wednesday denied the broad counter-offensive had begun.
"We have made advances of from 200 to 1,100 metres (220-1,200 yards) on various sections (of the front line) in the Bakhmut direction over the past day," Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Maliar wrote on Telegram messenger, without providing further details.
Ukrainian troops, she said, had been on the offensive in the area for several days and Russian troops were on a defensive footing, aiming to hold on to their positions.
"Our troops have switched from the defensive to the offensive in the direction of Bakhmut," Maliar said.
Russia said last month its forces had captured Bakhmut, site of the longest and bloodiest battle since its February 2022 invasion, though Kyiv said it retained a small presence in the ruined city and was advancing on the flanks.
The Russian defence ministry said on Wednesday Ukraine had mounted attacks near Bakhmut, but that they had been unsuccessful.
Reuters was unable to independently verify the situation on the battlefield.
Maliar said in separate, televised comments that Russia lacked forces in Bakhmut and was bringing in troops from other positions.
Kyiv hopes its counter-offensive will be a turning point in the war but has portrayed assaults under way as localised.
"When we start the counter-offensive, everyone will know about it, they will see it," Danilov, the secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council, told Reuters.

According to experts cited by the New York Times, hard evidence of a deliberate explosion was "very limited" given that the dam was located in an active warzone, but "an internal explosion was the likeliest explanation for the destruction of the dam, a massive structure of steel-reinforced concrete that was completed in 1956."
The breach would have required "hundreds of pounds of explosives" to cause the kind of destruction that occurred and "an external detonation by bomb or missile would exert only a fraction of its force against the dam," the experts added.
The dam had previously sustained damage during fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion last year, but the plant was "built to withstand an atomic bomb," Ihor Syrota, the head of Ukraine's state-owned energy company Ukrhydroenergo, said.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba criticized international media on June 6 that entertained Russian narratives that Ukraine might somehow be responsible for the Kakhovka dam's destruction, saying that it "puts facts and propaganda on equal footing."
Over 1,300 people have been rescued or preemptively evacuated from flood zones in the past 24 hours, according to the Interior Ministry, and relief efforts are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the President's Office reported that at least 150 tons of oil had spilled into the Dnipro River following the destruction of the dam, with the risk of 300 additional tons leaking.
The Agriculture Ministry also predicted on June 7 that the disruption caused to the biodiversity in the region by flooding would have unprecedenced economic and environmental consequences for years to come.

Ukrainian and UN experts have said the dam’s destruction and the draining of the reservoir behind it does not pose an immediate safety threat to the plant further upstream, but warned that it will have long-term implications for its future.
IAEA head Rafael Mariano Grossi said in a statement on Tuesday that “our current assessment is that there is no immediate risk to the safety of the plant.” But there are long-term concerns, both over safety and the possibility of the plant becoming operational again in the coming years.
Reuters reports the UK’s permanent representative to the IAEA, Corinne Kitsell, as saying:
Russia’s barbaric attacks on Ukraine’s civil infrastructure and its illegal control of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant runs contrary to all international nuclear safety and security norms.
She added:
I commend the work of the IAEA’s staff in Ukraine and I am pleased that the UK’s additional funding will help to facilitate its vital work, particularly given the additional risk posed by the destruction of the Kakhovka dam.

Fighting around Bakhmut “remains the epicenter of hostilities,” Ukraine’s deputy defense minister said Wednesday.
Speaking on Telegram, Hanna Maliar said Ukrainian forces have made gains ranging from 200 meters (656 feet) in some areas to 1,100 meters (3,609 feet) in others, but did not say where exactly.
Maliar also noted that Wagner fighters had largely withdrawn, noting they “remain in some places in the rear” and the large majority of the fighting is now being conducted by regular units of the Russian Federation, including airborne units.
The head of the Wagner military group in Ukraine, Yevgeny Prigozhin, accused Russia of sabotaging his withdrawal from Bakhmut last week, claiming exit routes were mined.
Some context: Bakhmut sits toward the northeast of the Donetsk region, about 13 miles from the Luhansk region, and had long been a target for Russian forces. Since last summer the city has been a stone’s throw from the front lines.
Last month, Russian forces said they had finally captured the embattled eastern city. It followed a months-long slog where Russian soldiers had to grind for every inch of territory.

whenever i dream there is a few set locations that are familiar to me. funnily enough, these locations don’t exist in reality— they are locations made for a dream, only exist in a dream, and yet are experienced more than once. one of these locations is a long, extraneous wetland of sorts. there is tall grass & in most of my dreams i am unable to do more than look out into the water & yearn someday to be apart of it. however, in one of my dreams today, i was able to experience it myself. i was able to stand near the sand & float in the water & ask someone on their boat if i was able to come along. there was a switch they flipped, of sorts, and once flipped the water started moving a different direction & animals started to appear. i was tasked with not touching any of them. i agreed; they are all wild animals, and i wish to respect their beings. i floated head first into a duck, saw a horse, tiger, so many miscellaneous creatures. i was able to step onto a small island where the establishment of the people with the boat lay. there were even more creatures there— i took photos, to the best of my ability. i was able to help them with octopus breeding & viewing populations on another, separate island. i saw a huge cicada & several mantises. on the horizon, i turned & saw several huge buildings— nuclear power plants on the water. i was captivated with everything, truly captivated.
of course, we cannot sit & enjoy everything forever— the dream eventually ends, the world in it dies. the dream i had after that consisted of finding dorms to stay in, however they are not that of a usual dorm and go on continuously like a line. all the rooms are generally small, which makes sense, but its less of a square and.. well, i mean i already said it. theres something profound to my dreams, where i both am running to and from many things. in one dorm, there were too many people— too crowded. in another, the structuring was simply off. in the last one which i settled in, i then have to deal with reality looming over my shoulders. literally? literally. it is so… odd, and i cant describe why or how. apparently my room in the shared dorm (which is more kinda like an RV, now that i say it) has a huge window & is near a pond. i make a snow cone. it is small. i believe i try to offer this snow cone, attempt at humanity, but we all know how those end. i waded in the water & had person i recognize sit on rocks in the distance. didnt talk to him, obviously. i didnt get to enjoy the great egrets as much as i wanted to. i seem to never get to enjoy things as much as i want to, in most of my dreams. its infuriating.
of course, waking up & writing about it begs the question of if all my dreams are like this. i had one previously during the morning about gravity falls & what would happen if there was a one off made about how bill can still see through the people he’s possessed. there was a knight in that dream, hues of dark blue & violet, covered in flowers. there was so much of a mix it’s incomprehensible to name it all now.
to be honest, i think the worst dreams are when its a decent structure & you’re genuinely having fun in this temporary world & it gets ruined. awful dreams are when they include snippets from reality & make you go haha, remember that? remember this funny thing? yeah, how youre like evil and need to be killed & how uncomfortable it is to be around you? remember that, here it is.
anyway idk how to end this. thank you for reading & looking at my blog as always, its so odd im seen but its nice. hashtag make dreams less awful.

I think I’ve burnt my brain cells whilst writing p.1 of my theory. Anyhow, more hcs;
The sickness mechanic is a side effect of overexposure to whatever energies that Dark Lord/Curse emits. The reason why the illness only affected your teammates is because not only were they trapped in the castle for weeks - if not months/YEARS depending on your hc -, but also having their faces stolen and placed unto the Dark Lord’s guard monsters.
The Main Hero will eventually have to suffer through the same sickness after fighting the Darkest Lord; for comparison’s sake, if the DL’s caste was a nuclear power plant, then the Darkest Lord themselves is basically the Elephant’s Foot from Chernobyl. In fact, most of the people we save across all of Miitopia will have to deal with this plague, so expect a sort of quarantine or an uptake of demands for a cure to be made.
Dang, I never would have guessed that Reborn was really into Plague Inc. /j
-
In the Darker Lord’s Annex/Domain, we can see dozens of planetary spheres floating around; some possessing a ring around them, while some are broken apart. In my opinion, these are the many “save files” of Miitopia fans across the world- alternate universes.
The presence of various other universes helps explain the phenomenon present in the Travelers’ Hub- of you meeting other fellow heroes and even managing to recruit them. After all, Miitopia is apparently very close to the stars and other planets; it is even evident whenever you hitch a ride on Dominic’s back, since you can see planets floating around in the skies of the map.
In that case...then what about the shattered spheres present? Could they just be broken asteroids? Or are they something bigger? Something more....grim?
Have you ever heard of Schrodinger’s Cat- specifically, its “Many Worlds” interpretation? In theory, the cat would be placed in a box with a packet full of poison. Before we open up the box to check on it, we would be existing in a  universe where the cat is both alive and dead, and by opening it we split the universes into two; one where the cat lives, and the other where they die.
The Main Hero is the cat, and the poison is none other than the Dark Curse. In one universe, the Great Sage managed to save us by sacrificing themselves, while in the other...the Great Sage might have been a few milliseconds too late.
Either that, or they could be the “darker” playthroughs- those existing without a happy ending to begin with. I know I’m guilty of that, hahah :’D

:0 HELLOO OK OK SO *claps hands togheter*
@guess-how-i-stole-this-body FOUND IT
Ajhdjd so my main story is set in a made up town in Florida (I actually don’t know why I chose florida) called Beckenshire. Which was an industrial town in the early 1900s-1930’s. Around the 1970-80’s they built a nuclear plant but demolished it pretty quickly after they noticed it wasn’t all that safe.
This world is basically like our own except with cryptids and monsters. We don’t know where they came from, they’ve been here since the start of time it seems, but they usually live closer to nuclear plants/ruins. Due to the fact they get power from it.
So Beckenshire has a lot of these monsters, and an important one for later is the Sprites which are little spirits that inhabit random inanimate objects and float them around. You can bribe them with sweet treats if you want that random object back. There is also a Spirite 2.0 (i don’t have a name for them) that inhabits dead bodies. Or they make a deal with people on their deathbed (methaporically and literally) that they’ll inhabit their heart to keep the body running for a bit longer but the body will slowly decay.
So onto the characters! (sorry this is so long and I’m not even finished)
You’ve got Ryan Beckett, on the school’s basketball team and plays dnd often. He has a fear of deer thanks to seeing the Devil Heart (a massive deer skeleton with human teeth) in the woods when he was younger. Later in the story he gets his arm chopped off by Carmela (another oc) and gets a werewolf-ish bite from a monster (idk which yet) that gives him yellow pupils, horns, pointy teeth and ears.
Carmela Rivera Luzardo is a soccer player and her and ryan have a rivals to lovers kind of thing thanks to the fact the basketball team has way better funding by the school. She lives with her dad and her mum is in the city for ‘work reasons’. Later in the story she joins a cult called Children of The Woods (which is important later) and cuts ryan’s arm off and ends up having to gain her friends trust again. She didn’t want to cut his arm off i might add.
Dana Bernard is the last of this trio and they are amazing in my opinion. She lives with her two dads at home, when she was very young her mum died of cancer and her dad recently remarried to a guy named Jose. (Her bio dad is called Noah and he has a whole crisis after figuring out he’s bisexual thanks to the fact his wife is dead and he has a bunch of guilt about that still) Later in the story, she gets their eye plucked out by mermaids (their called Nereids) and they have a big fear of water from then on. A monster pretended to be her late mum and tried to drown them.
Oliver Biswar is a side character (kind of?) he’s 10 years old and has bright glowing blue eyes from a sprite accident. He loves dinosaurs.
Now I have a lot of story for the parents but I’ll shorten it down.
Janette Biswar is the current leader of the cult Carmela joined, which was a cult her family made in the 50’s to worship the monsters. She’s seen as a god/messenger of the gods. She adopted oliver after her sister died. (Her sister was oliver’s mum). She tricks Carmela into joining the cult by using her mum against her. She also ends up in a relationship (?) with ryan’s mum, Adele. Which isn’t the best.
Adele Beckett is a monster hunter and she is married to Josh beckett who is a trans guy. They began dating before Josh knew he was trans so they were a sapphic couple and Adele has a lot of ‘diet’ transphobia towards Josh and her son Ryan. She also has a lot of arophobia towards Janette (Janette is an aro lesbian). The two end up in a relationship which is more a sexual one then romantic since Janette has stated multiple times she is not interested in a romantic one. Both of them where fine with that until Adele did catch feelings for Janette and did that thing a lot of people do which is ignore what the person has previously said and tell them their heartless. Also Janette had no idea Adele was cheating on Josh. That kind of brings us to Janette’s first death which is her burning along with the cult building thanks to a molotov cocktail that Adele had.

Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire - My Edition - Godzilla VS Amhuluk
The next time Titanus Amhuluk shows up in my edition of The New Empire is when Godzilla, the alpha titan, arrives in the North Pole, seeking the energy to further power up (after dementor’ing the radiation of several French nuclear power plants) to face Skar King, Shimo and Skar King’s army.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The confrontation begins when Godzilla shoots out his supercharged atomic breath at the manhattan-sized ice lair to lure out the titan within. A few seconds later, Titanus Amhuluk emerges, but he looks different. Having absorbed a lot of the energy since kicking Tiamat out, Amhuluk has grown two extra arms, making him have 8 limbs like a spider. On top of that, the blue glow of the vain-like glows is replaced with a pink glow and his 10 eyes are glowing pink too. Seeing Godzilla, Amhuluk spreads his “arms” and “legs” out in an intimation fashion, roaring loudly. Godzilla roars loudly, now seeing Amhuluk as a much much greater threat as he’s possessing the energy that Big G needs to become more powerful. On top of that, Godzilla immediately knows that if Amhuluk gets away, he’ll attack Titanus Behemoth again, kill him and take the Amazon rainforest and contaminate it. So Godzilla charges at Amhuluk and the two clash. Due to the energy, Amhuluk no longer fears Godzilla and is now immune to heat, and therefore no longer has to run, but stay and fight. Godzilla scratches Amhukuk across the face four times, kicks Amhuluk twice and tail-slaps Amhuluk three times. Amhuluk wraps his four “legs” around Godzilla and begins punching Big G, breaking off a few of Godzilla’s dorsal plates. Godzilla bites down hard on Amhuluk’s spine and rips a piece off, causing Amhuluk to actually screech in pain. Facing Godzilla, Amhuluk explains that he and Scylla were hired by Skar King to terminate Godzilla… hence why Scylla powered up on radiation and aggressively attacked Rome and why Amhuluk kicked Tiamat out of the ice lair. On top of that, Amhuluk already held a grudge against Godzilla for interfering with his attempted takeover of the Amazon. Then Amhuluk punches Godzilla again, this time, breaking his right arm. Enraged at the pain and Amhuluk’s revelation, Godzilla loudly roars at Amhuluk with his eyes and mouth brightly glowing white-blue. In response, Amhuluk bites down on Godzilla’s head, wrapping his head tentacles/tendrils around the G-Man’s head. At this point, Godzilla has had enough and charges up. Unleashing an electric-nuclear pulse, Godzilla gets Amhuluk off of him and the G-Man immediately unleashes his supercharged atomic breath, complete obliterating Amhuluk. On top of that, Godzilla reduces Amhuluk’s head and spine into nothing, effectively killing the demonic-looking titan. Parts of Amhuluk’s “body” float to the surface and Godzilla surfaces, roaring victoriously, having gotten rid of Amhuluk and preventing him from causing any more and even more trouble, especially for Titanus Behemoth and the Amazon. Godzilla submerges and enters the ice lair to heal his wounds and power up.
Having gotten Amhuluk out of the way, I’ll then focus on the villain of the film; Skar King, in the next post, so stay tuned.

Do Finns work long enough hours? Finance Minister Riikka Purra (Finns) is posing the difficult questions in a Maaseudun Tulevaisuus column on Monday that was also picked up by Iltalehti.
The minister noted that Finns' average working week was shorter than in similar countries.
The minister had a long list of problems with the Finnish economy, including low birth rates, poor productivity growth, deficits in the state finances and declining Pisa scores.
She suggested that young people with poor skills were more likely to live on social benefits than enter the labour market, another problem for the national economy.
Trade balances are in surplus only in primary and intermediate products, with Finland struggling to sell more higher-value products abroad.
The only hope, according to Purra in a column that is frankly quite short of it, is reforming the economy in line with the package of measures put forward by the government.
She claims the package of measures — which radically cut spending and have provoked large-scale strikes in protest — is pretty basic, not radical.
The idea of a cross-party consensus on economic reforms, agreed to last over several parliamentary terms, was floated by President Sauli Niinistö in his New Year speech.
Purra's bleak text assessing the Finnish economy could be read in that context, as the scene it sets is uncompromising and the solutions it proposes are fairly unpalatable to many of her political opponents.
Nuclear turnoff
Recent peaks in electricity prices have caused some in Finland to wonder if nuclear power might be a possible solution to fluctuations in the power market.
Many Finns are now on spot price electricity contracts, so their bills are linked to the cost charged on electricity markets which changes by the hour and briefly rose over two euros per kilowatt hour recently.
The minister responsible, Kai Mykkänen (NCP), has said that Finland is considering new nuclear plants to try and deal with the problem.
That would be economically problematic, according to a professor interviewed by Helsingin Sanomat.
Esa Vakkilainen said that the plant would reduce prices so much in the summer that some of the plants would have to shut down in the warmer months due to the reduced demand and the high level of wind and solar capacity available.
That would mean the nuclear plant would need public subsidies, as a new project would not be financially viable for private investors. While not impossible, that would be a new situation for Finland which has long insisted nuclear projects should be privately funded.
Parents not friends
Ilta-Sanomat carries a long feature on "buddy parenting" based on an interview with researcher and Steiner school headteacher Jarno Paalasmaa.
His new book is out on Wednesday, and it deals with the phenomenon of parents who would rather be their children's friends than set proper boundaries.
Some modern parents have a tendency to give in when there is a disagreement with their children, without insisting that they meet certain basic standards.
This is known as "buddy parenting" and it can be detrimental to a child's development and ability to deal with the world outside the home.
Schools are now having to teach some children about rules and boundaries, because the concept is not as familiar as it used to be — thanks in part to buddy parents.
The article has a helpful fact box for anyone struggling with the issue. It suggests parents do not compromise on taking medicine when sick, brushing teeth twice a day, eating at the table at meal times, dressing warmly in winter, going to school even when tired, evening routines and sleeping rhythms, and zero tolerance for insulting language.

I’m figuring out Omens bard magic so hear me out that also became explains Drakkens magic
So in the world of Aces and Omen everyone develops their magic depending on who and how they were influenced by growing up. For Drakken his mother studied dark magic when she was younger and he had a fascination for astrology and nature. So as Drakken got older he developed his star magic that has a lot of the same attributes that actual stars have along with alchemy. This magic is very rare so improving his magic trying to use library books did not help as much
While for Omen they were influenced more by both of their parents. Their mother (Death Eklipse a giant Raven who is the head of the Death Omens) had the ability to form floating lights while their father (Sorrow Eklipse a grey wolf who is Deaths right hand man) had the ability to use his flute to cause sadness and intrusive thoughts to those that heard his songs. This lead to Omens magic to develop into a bard magic that forms as purple flames with their songs either causing nightmares to those that hear it. Or can retract fears causing listeners to feel a great calm.
So what about casting magic? That I only have asked. For Drakken he has his sigils he draws in midair that allows him to cast the spell. His magic runs down into his finger tips that allows him to draw these sigils. But for Omen I want their violin to act as a wand, an object for the magic to be stored into. And the magic activates when they finish a series of notes with the magic dispelling out of the bow of their violin!
And now the specifics what are the spells they use?
Drakkens magic can be split into 3 categories represented by the prime materials of Alchemy and what also represents the different forms of star magic
Mercury -mind magic: divination spells, telling the future, learning lore of the land, listening to the stars, think astrology and constellations
Sulfur- soul magic: conjurations, forming small stars, shooting stars, polar star, nuclear fusion,
And Salt- body magic: magic that affects his body, warmth, radiant, supernova flare,
When Drakken uses his magic and forms the sigil his irises turn into the shape of the star with his pupil turning white forming into one of the alchemical symbols of the 3 prime materials. For the sigil itself it’s a circle with a star in the middle and one of the prime materia in the middle of that
For Omen they have spells based around not just bard but also necromancy magic! Their moms name is Death who’s also know as Death Omens of course Omen knows necromancy spells.
Omens magic is mostly curses, healing, and conjuration spells.
In this world curses are spells that directly affect a person. Omen knows 3 curses:
Piercing Gaze: a giant stylized eyeball with a wolfs teeth as eyelashes forms behind Omen. Anyone who looks at this eyeball will be filled with a deep unfathomable fear towards Omen that causes them to react with essentially flight and refuse to fight Omen.
Mental Melody: When Omen casts this a melody is played in the mind of the one their targeting. As the melody plays it causes an intense sharp pain throughout the entire body that only increases as the melody continues to play.
Sleeping sound: When Omen plays this melody curse anyone who hears will fall asleep. Omen can cast this curse in a lesser degree that can instead calm people down buts it’s not as powerful and won’t always work.
Now healing magic! Omens healing magic is necromancy spells:
Looming shadow: Omen causes shadow tendrils to extend from their shadow and leach onto someone else’s shadow and seep their life away healing themselves.
Wither away: Omen takes the energy from plants and can heal others. The effectiveness of the healing is based on how big the plant is. This causes the plant to wither away and wilt
And conjuration spells:
Fear fire: a purple flame forms on Omens violin bow that they can release out
Just ideas and canon stuff for the magic of this world ✨
