Greece evaluates sale of Mirage 2000 jets to India 🇮🇳
Although the expected selling price is modest, Athens sees an opportunity for broader strategic cooperation with New Delhi.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 02/08/2024 - 19:28in Military
The leadership of the Hellenic Air Force is exploring the possibility of selling the 18 Mirage 2000 EGM/BGM to India, a proposal that was communicated to the Prime Minister's office and the Ministry of National Defense of Greece.
The aircraft served until 2022 in the 332ª "Hawk" Squadron, and most of them are not in flight condition, while some were cannibalized to keep the others flying. However, it seems that there is fertile ground between the two parties and do not rule out the possibility of the subject of the sale of the fighters to be discussed during the future visit of Prime Minister K. Mitsotakis to New Delhi.
Squadron 332 struggled with problems of availability of the Mirage 2000, resulting in the abandonment of some aircraft on the runways of Tanagra and others cannibalized because they were beyond the operational life.
At the end of 2023, New Delhi decided to communicate its interest to the Greek part in acquiring used Mirage 2000, as it plans to keep these fighters in service for at least another decade. Athens, aiming to further strengthen defense relations with India, has already decided to sell the retired Mirage. The Air Force General Staff expects to profit
However, the criterion for its sale is more political than economic. In the General Staff of the Greek Air Force, which is directly involved, they do not expect profits. On the contrary, they maintain modest expectations regarding the selling price of aircraft, which are unfortunately in poor condition. The experts' estimate is that, at best, they will be sold for a few million euros.
These 18 Mirage, which carried the weight of the interceptions in the skies of the Aegean Sea, were withdrawn from service in January 2022 with the arrival of the Rafale. The aircraft were inactivated due to lack of support long before the arrival of the new French fighters. However, there are still users of the French delta fighter, such as India, which maintains about 50 aircraft in three combat squads and may be interested in supplementing any losses or renewing its stock of spare parts for existing ones.
The Hellenic Air Force is also evaluating the future of the newest Mirage 2000-5 operated by Squadron 331 "Teseu". Although the support contract has improved its availability, concerns about its compatibility with evolving technologies and high integration costs, such as the proposed Link-16 terminal, have led to a reassessment.

DAY 4826
Jalsa, Mumbai May 15/16, 2021 Sat/Sun 12:29 AM
The Gods are angered .. CoViD continues but the efforts are coming in and the graphs at some places are beginning to show some stability, though not completely out of the woods ..
Cyclone Tauktae in the Arabian Sea intensifies along the Western Coasts of India .. from the South moving up .. the effects of its arrival have begun here in Mumbai with rain as I write .. the preparations for the monsoon rain sheds had just begun so the vulnerability of leaks , is there and the dealing with rain leakages about is a concern .. we try to make some make shift arrangements .. but they are weak and not entirely protective ..
The severity of the monsoons as you all know is massive and all buildings and locations become most vulnerable during those 3-4 months of its presence ..
The JVPD Scheme is a low lying area and flooding is most imminent .. so ..
The word ‘tauktae’ .. the naming of storms cyclones typhoons et all are taken up and suggested by the countries in the region and this name has been given by Myanmar , erstwhile Burma , which is the name of a ‘vocal lizard’ ..
The work though on the care fronts continues and happily I was able to deliver the first lot of 10 ventilators to the desired locations .. the Municipal Corporation of the City , and 3 Hospitals and one clinic .. the balance 10 that I have ordered should be in in a few days and they too shall be distributed to care centres and Hospitals in dire need ..
6 were sent to the BMC, under the request of its Commissioner Mr Iqbal Singh Chahal, who has done great innovative work in controlling the spread of the virus in the City, by bringing down the numbers .. the ventilators were asked to be directed to his Addl., Com., Mr Chore, who then directed it to ms Shashibala, the lady from the Comm., office looking after deliveries , who then directed us to send it to the Andheri Sports Complex to Mr Raju Palkar, who has received them and the distribution shall be under the discretion of BMC, looking at the various needs ..
I shall be requesting the BMC to let me have a report on the delivery, the setting up and the functioning of these machines at the allocated locations, so we can keep a record of its proper usage ..
The other 4 have been delivered to Hospitals - Sion Hospital along with some accessories that they needed to help in the detection process in these times ; Nair Hospital ; Kaleskar Hospital and the Jewel Nursing Home ..
This is no way a reflection or an indication , that these Hospitals do not have facilities of their own, they do, but in extenuating circumstances, such as what we are facing, every drop counts ..
The first consignment of the 50 Oxygen Concentrators ordered and bought by me from Poland should be on a plane as I write, and shall be landing in Delhi by 6 am tomorrow morning, on the Polish Airline LOT .. flight WAW/DEL /LO 1071 .. these shall be cleared by the Gurudwara Committee where I have donated in the building of the 400 bed facility and which was inaugurated the other day .. 300 functional immediately and the balance 100 in due time .. and the O2 concentrators shall also be donated to this facility for their discretionary use.
vimeo
These are the 10 litre concentrators, but research from my office informs me that the 5 litre ones are also acceptable and in greater demand .. so I have bought another 50 oxygen concentrators today of the 5 litre capacity, and hopefully they should be despatched to us in a few days .. these shall be distributed to the needy facilities in Mumbai ..
My gratitude and gracious thanks to several people in the fructification of this delivery - The Govt.of Poland, the Mayor of Wroclaw, Mr Jacek Sutryk , the Indian Ambassador Mr Namgyal, and the Indian Consul Mr Johri for most generously helping in easing the logistics of transporting it over to India.
The 25 bedded Care Centre that I had donated for to be put up in a School in Juhu is happily all ready .. the facilities are all in place .. and just today the relevant OC’s have beem obtained from the BMC and the Fire Brigade .. just one more permission is due to come tomorrow and with that the facility shall be ready to operate by Tuesday or Wednesday .. this is for the really needy and those that cannot afford the expenses required for their treatment ..
...👆🏾 the 25 bedder facility .. beds , store room , numbering of beds in process .. all oxygen piping etc., all done ..
And the Diagnostic Centre that I donated to for the Bangla Sahib Centre for the needy at free to very low affordable rates is all set and the MRI machine and some other ancillaries that I bought for them, all supplied and ready for operation ..
This 👇🏿 is the lay out of the Centre :
.. there shall be a dedication of course .. but details of that later ..
There is always a sense of satisfaction on seeing your efforts at giving to the needy .. to those in distress .. to them that have lost their jobs due to the non functional-ability of their work professions .. those on the daily wages .. those who’s production films have been stopped because no shootings are allowed .. those who had bet their last Rupee on the completion of a film or a web series they were working on and getting paid ..
I give wherever I can .. my means are extremely limited .. it may not seem so , but they are .. somehow by the grace of the Almighty they come to me .. I have not made any effort to collect them through campaigns or donations to a cause that I may have instituted .. I just feel asking someone for funds is embarrassing for me .. yes there have been events in the past where the voice is for contributing, but I feel uncomfortable to ask , to contribute .. I may have partaken in the event as a voice over, but never directly asked to give or contribute .. and if there have been such unseen or unknown incidents then I seek forgiveness ..
I have, not out of seeking praise, given descriptions of the work done this time, but just to assure all, of the delivery and the visuals of where the funds have been used and to what avail .. that they are not just blank promises ..
There have been many such campaigns and events where the organisers have collected funds for most worthy causes .. and that is most laudable .. but with all due respect and modesty, at times the amount that I have personally individually donated, matches the funds collected out of the campaigns ..
I did not ask .. I gave ..
This has probably been a most un endearing post for the Blog .. and I do apologise for that .. for one that has ever promulgated a desire to be silent and do my work, I have crossed my own LOC - the Line of Control ..
It has come about through incessant cries from many to SPEAK .. but speak is not the desired element according to me in these times .. and the less said on this the better ..
ek chup sau sukh .. एक चुप सौ सुख
AND .. I really must stop .. before my own words get thrown back at me :
“a sophisticated rhetorician intoxicated by the exuberance of his own verbosity”
BECAUSE ..
“the whole country of the system is juxtapositioned by the haemoglobin in the atmosphere”
GN ..

WORLD NEWS
Ukraine: As West tries to force Russia from Ukraine, endgame elusive (AP)
“As Western leaders congratulate themselves for their speedy and severe responses to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, they’re also scratching their heads with uncertainty about what their actions will accomplish. The U.S., NATO and the European Union have focused on strangling Russia’s economy and arming Ukrainian fighters. But it’s unclear how this will stop the war.”
Poland: Warsaw overwhelmed as it becomes key refugee destination (AP)
“Warsaw’s mayor is appealing for international help as the city becomes overwhelmed by refugees, with more than a tenth of all those fleeing the war in Ukraine arriving in the Polish capital. Some seek to wait out the war or settle in the city, while others merely use Warsaw as a transit point to head further west, turning its train stations into crowded hubs where people are camping out on floors.”
India: Missile accidentally fired into Pakistan (BBC)
“India says it accidentally fired a missile into Pakistan on Wednesday, blaming the incident on a "technical malfunction" during routine maintenance. Delhi said it was "deeply regrettable" and expressed relief no one was killed. Pakistan's military said a "high-speed flying object" had crashed near the eastern city of Mian Channu and its flight path had endangered passenger flights. Both countries have nuclear weapons.”
US NEWS
Russia: Offensive widens as US imposes new trade sanctions (AP)
“Russia widened its offensive in Ukraine on Friday, striking airfields in the west and a major industrial city in the east, while the huge armored column that had been stalled for over a week outside Kyiv was on the move again, spreading out into forests and towns near the capital. On the economic and political front, the U.S. and its allies moved to further isolate and sanction Russia by revoking its most favored trading status, while on the ground, the Kremlin’s forces appeared to be trying to regroup and regain momentum after encountering heavier losses and stiffer resistance than anticipated.”
Covid: 2% of Americans now live in counties with high Covid-19 levels (CNN)
“Just 2% of the United States population -- about 7 million people -- lives in a county where the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention still recommends universal indoor masking, according to the latest Covid-19 community level data, updated by the CDC on Thursday. This is 16 million fewer people than just last week, when about 7% of the US population lived in a county considered to have a "high" community level. Two weeks ago, when the CDC first released the new metrics, about 28% of the US population lived in a county considered to have a high community level.”
Immigration: Arrests drop amid focus on most dangerous (AP)
“Immigration enforcement arrests within the U.S. fell sharply over the past year as the Biden administration shifted its enforcement priorities to focus on people in the country without legal status who have committed serious crimes, officials said Friday. As it released its annual report, reflecting eight months under President Joe Biden, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said total immigration arrests dropped nearly 40% from the previous year while the number of people apprehended who had committed “aggravated felonies” nearly doubled.”

• Hanna Reitsch
Hanna Reitsch was a German aviator and test pilot. Along with Melitta von Stauffenberg, she flight tested many of Germany's new aircraft during World War II and received many honors. She set more than 40 flight altitude records and women's endurance records in gliding and unpowered flight, before and after World War II.
Reitsch was born in Hirschberg, Silesia (today Jelenia Góra in Poland) on March 29th, 1912 to an upper-middle-class family. She was daughter of Dr. Wilhelm Willy Reitsch, who was ophthalmology clinic manager, and his wife Emy Helff-Hibler von Alpenheim, who was a member of the Catholic Austrian nobility. Hanna grew up with two siblings, her brother Kurt, a Frigate captain, and her younger sister Heidi. She began flight training in 1932 at the School of Gliding in Grunau. While a medical student in Berlin she enrolled in a German Air Mail amateur flying school for powered aircraft at Staaken, in a Klemm Kl 25. In 1933, Reitsch left medical school at the University of Kiel to become, at the invitation of Wolf Hirth, a full-time glider pilot/instructor at Hornberg in Baden-Württemberg. Reitsch contracted with the Ufa Film Company as a stunt pilot and set an unofficial endurance record for women of eleven hours and twenty minutes. In January 1934, she joined a South America expedition to study thermal conditions, along with Wolf Hirth, Peter Riedel and Heini Dittmar. While in Argentina, she became the first woman to earn the Silver C Badge, the 25th to do so among world glider pilots. In June 1934, Reitsch became a member of the Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug (DFS) and became a test pilot in 1935. Reitsch enrolled in the Civil Airways Training School in Stettin, where she flew a twin-engine on a cross country flight and aerobatics in a Focke-Wulf Fw 44. At the DFS she test flew transport and troop-carrying gliders, including the DFS 230 used at the Battle of Fort Eben-Emael.
In September 1937, Reitsch was posted to the Luftwaffe testing centre at Rechlin-Lärz Airfield by Ernst Udet. Her flying skill, desire for publicity, and photogenic qualities made her a star of Nazi propaganda. Physically she was petite in stature, very slender with blonde hair, blue eyes and a "ready smile". She appeared in Nazi propaganda throughout the late 1930s and early 1940s. Reitsch was the first female helicopter pilot and one of the few pilots to fly the Focke-Achgelis Fa 61, the first fully controllable helicopter, for which she received the Military Flying Medal. In 1938, during the three weeks of the International Automobile Exhibition in Berlin, she made daily flights of the Fa 61 helicopter inside the Deutschlandhalle. In September 1938, Reitsch flew the DFS Habicht in the Cleveland National Air Races. Reitsch was a test pilot on the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka dive bomber and Dornier Do 17 light/fast bomber projects, for which she received the Iron Cross, Second Class, from Hitler on March 28th, 1941. Reitsch was asked to fly many of Germany's latest designs, among them the rocket-propelled Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet in 1942. A crash landing on her fifth Me 163 flight badly injured Reitsch; she spent five months in a hospital recovering. Reitsch received the Iron Cross First Class following the accident, one of only three women to do so.
In February 1943 after news of the defeat in the Battle of Stalingrad she accepted an invitation from Generaloberst Robert Ritter von Greim to visit the Eastern Front. She spent three weeks visiting Luftwaffe units, flying a Fieseler Fi 156 Storch. On February 28th, 1944, she presented the idea of Operation Suicide to Hitler at Berchtesgaden, which "would require men who were ready to sacrifice themselves in the conviction that only by this means could their country be saved." Although Hitler "did not consider the war situation sufficiently serious to warrant them...and...this was not the right psychological moment", he gave his approval. The project was assigned to Gen. Günther Korten. There were about seventy volunteers who enrolled in the Suicide Group as pilots for the human glider-bomb. By April 1944, Reitsch and Heinz Kensche finished tests of the Me 328, carried aloft by a Dornier Do 217. By then, she was approached by SS-Obersturmbannführer Otto Skorzeny, a founding member of the SS-Selbstopferkommando Leonidas (Leonidas Squadron). They adapted the V-1 flying bomb into the Fieseler Fi 103R Reichenberg including a two-seater and a single-seater with and without the mechanisms to land. The plan was never implemented operationally, "the decisive moment had been missed."
In her autobiography Fliegen, mein Leben Reitsch recalled that after two initial crashes with the Fi 103R she and Heinz Kensche took over tests of the prototype Fi 103R. She made several successful test flights before training the instructors. "Though an average pilot could fly the V1 without difficulty once it was in the air, to land it called for exceptional skill, in that it had a very high landing speed and, moreover, in training it was the glider model, without engine, that was usually employed." In October 1944, Reitsch claims she was shown a booklet by Peter Riedel which he'd obtained while in the German Embassy in Stockholm, concerning the gas chambers. She further claims that while believing it to be enemy propaganda, she agreed to inform Heinrich Himmler about it. Upon doing so, Himmler is said to have asked whether she believed it, and she replied, "No, of course not. But you must do something to counter it. You can't let them shoulder this onto Germany." "You are right," Himmler replied. During the last days of the war, Hitler dismissed Hermann Göring as head of the Luftwaffe and appointed Reitsch's lover, von Greim, to replace him. Von Greim and Reitsch flew from Gatow Airport into embattled Berlin to meet Hitler in the Führerbunker, arriving on April 26th, as the Red Army troops were already in the central area of Berlin. Reitsch and von Greim had flown from Rechlin–Lärz Airfield to Gatow Airfield in a Focke Wulf 190, escorted by twelve other Fw 190s from Jagdgeschwader 26 under the command of Hauptmann Hans Dortenmann. In Berlin, Reitsch landed a Fi 156 Storch on an improvised airstrip in the Tiergarten near the Brandenburg Gate. Hitler gave Reitsch two capsules of poison for herself and von Greim. She accepted the capsule.
During the evening of April 28th, Reitsch flew von Greim out of Berlin in an Arado Ar 96 from the same improvised airstrip. This was the last plane out of Berlin. Von Greim was ordered to get the Luftwaffe to attack the Soviet forces that had just reached Potsdamer Platz and to make sure Heinrich Himmler was punished for his treachery in making unauthorised contact with the Western Allies so as to surrender. Troops of the Soviet 3rd Shock Army, which was fighting its way through the Tiergarten from the north, tried to shoot the plane down fearing that Hitler was escaping in it, but it took off successfully. Reitsch was soon captured along with von Greim and the two were interviewed together by U.S. military intelligence officers. When asked about being ordered to leave the Führerbunker on April 28th, 1945, Reitsch and von Greim reportedly repeated the same answer: "It was the blackest day when we could not die at our Führer's side." Reitsch also said: "We should all kneel down in reverence and prayer before the altar of the Fatherland." When the interviewers asked what she meant by "Altar of the Fatherland" she answered, "Why, the Führer's bunker in Berlin ..." She was held for eighteen months. Von Greim killed himself on May 24th, 1945. Evacuated from Silesia ahead of the Soviet troops, Reitsch's family took refuge in Salzburg. During the night of May 3rd, 1945, after hearing a rumour that all refugees were to be taken back to their original homes in the Soviet occupation zone, Reitsch's father shot and killed her mother and sister and her sister's three children before killing himself.
After her release Reitsch settled in Frankfurt am Main. After the war, German citizens were barred from flying powered aircraft, but within a few years gliding was allowed, which she took up again. In 1952, Reitsch won a bronze medal in the World Gliding Championships in Spain; she was the first woman to compete. In 1955 she became German champion. She continued to break records, including the women's altitude record (6,848 m (22,467 ft)) in 1957 and her first diamond of the Gold-C badge. During the mid-1950s, Reitsch was interviewed on film and talked about her wartime flight tests of the Fa 61, Me 262 and Me 163. In 1959, Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru invited Reitsch, who spoke fluent English, to start a gliding centre, and she flew with him over New Delhi. In 1961, United States President John F. Kennedy invited her to the White House. From 1962 to 1966, she lived in Ghana. The then Ghanaian President, Kwame Nkrumah invited Reitsch to Ghana after reading of her work in India. At Afienya she founded the first black African national gliding school, working closely with the government and the armed forces. The West German government supported her as technical adviser. Reitsch's attitudes to race underwent a change. "Earlier in my life, it would never have occurred to me to treat a black person as a friend or partner ..." She now experienced guilt at her earlier "presumptuousness and arrogance". She became close to Nkrumah. The details of their relationship are now unclear due to the destruction of documents, but some surviving letters are intimate in tone. In Ghana, some Africans were disturbed by the prominence of a person with Reitsch's past, but Shirley Graham Du Bois, a noted African-American writer who had emigrated to Ghana and was friendly towards Reitsch, agreed with Nkrumah that Reitsch was extremely naive politically. Throughout the 1970s, Reitsch broke gliding records in many categories, including the "Women's Out and Return World Record" twice, once in 1976 (715 km (444 mi)) and again, in 1979 (802 km (498 mi)), flying along the Appalachian Ridges in the United States. During this time, she also finished first in the women's section of the first world helicopter championships. Reitsch was interviewed and photographed several times in the 1970s, towards the end of her life, by Jewish-American photo-journalist Ron Laytner.
Reitsch died of a heart attack in Frankfurt at the age of 67, on August 24th, 1979. She had never married. She is buried in the Reitsch family grave in Salzburger Kommunalfriedhof. Former British test pilot and Royal Navy officer Eric Brown said he received a letter from Reitsch in early August 1979 in which she said, "It began in the bunker, there it shall end." Within weeks she was dead. Brown speculated that Reitsch had taken the cyanide capsule Hitler had given her in the bunker, and that she had taken it as part of a suicide pact with Greim. No autopsy was performed, or at least no such report is available.

Sushil Kumar – Charged in murder case, India’s Wrestling hero ‘falls’ bringing disrepute to his 'Chhatrasal breeding ground'
India's Wrestling hero, Sushil Kumar is being charged in murder case of junior champion Sagar Dhankhad within Chhatrasal Stadium. Though Kumar had denied involvement in the case, Delhi Police issued a non-bailable warrant against the wrestler.
The only Indian in ‘Independent India’ to win two of the coveted Olympic medals (Bronze-2008, Silver-2012) in individual events; the most decorated wrestler India has ever produced: India’s only world champion in wrestling (2010) – these are just a few of the numerous accolades that can be chalked up to the incredible Sushil Kumar. He has been a shining light for Sports in India, especially at the Olympic Games, where the country has tasted limited success. Therefore it came as a massive shock to the people of the entire country when this reserved and diminutive grappler, was named as the prime suspect in the murder of 23-year old, former junior national Wrestling champion Sagar Dhankhad, within the parking lot of the Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi.
The Incident
On May 4, 2021, a violent altercation between two Wrestling groups at the Chhatrasal Stadium, ended in a shootout. Several of the people involved, needing to be rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, Dhankad succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. According to police reports, a few of the other individuals who were involved in the shooting were - Ajay, Prince Dalal, Sonu, Sagar, and Amit.
As an aftermath of this shooting spree, Sushil Kumar had an FIR of Murder (Section 302), Abduction (Section 365), and Criminal Conspiracy (120-B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Model Town Police Station. A Delhi court issued non-bailable warrants for the arrests of Kumar and nine others. This came after the Delhi Police had already issued a “Look-Out-Circular”, or LOC, against him. On May 5, the day after the incident, Kumar made a statement that neither he nor any of his wrestlers were involved in any of the events that transpired, the previous day. He has been absconding ever since May 6.
The Delhi Police had to return empty-handed when they raided his house in an attempt to nab the world champion wrestler. On May 17, the Delhi Police announced that they will award INR 1,00,000 to anyone who can provide credible information, which leads to the arrest of Sushil Kumar. PTI reported that Kumar had already made an approach to the Delhi Rohini court, looking for protection from arrest. He had claimed that there was bias in the probe against him and that none of the injuries sustained by the victim could be attributed to him.
The Public Prosecutor, however, stated that the police had uncovered electronic evidence that incriminates Kumar and thus requested that his petition should be dismissed. The prosecutor, Atul Srivastava, went on further to claim that the champion wrestler is a ‘flight risk’. The defense attorney, on the other hand, argued that there was no necessity for custodial interrogation since as all the recoveries, that included vehicle(s), weapon(s), etc. had been made by the police. Kumar’s anticipatory bail plea was however completely rejected by the Rohini court, which had Additional sessions judge, Jagdish Kumar, presiding over it (May 18).
Sushil Kumar- Rise to Fame
Also called Sushil Pehelwan by those close to him, Kumar (son of a DTC bus conductor) hails from the village of Baprola, in Najafgarh. He took up the sport after being inspired by his cousin Sandeep, who also used to be a wrestler. Sandeep gave up on his dreams so that Sushil could pursue his, as their family could only garner enough funds to support one wrestler in the family.
A young Sushil Kumar came to the Chhatrasal Stadium at the tender age of 14 and it was here that he met famous former wrestler Satpal Singh and became his pupil. Sushil Kumar first came into prominence in 1998, after he won the World Cadet Games in Poland. It was his bronze medal win that turned the then ‘almost unknown’ grappler into a household name, overnight. The fame and popularity of the Chhatrasal Stadium kept on increasing largely, if not only, because of Kumar, and by 2012 the Stadium had become India’s premier wrestling centre.
Chhatrasal Stadium- Wrestlers' Breeding Ground
In the 2012 London Olympics, apart from Kumar who bagged a silver medal, his childhood friend and fellow Chhatrasal trainee Yogeshwar Dutt also brought home an Olympic bronze medal. Amit Dahiya, another trainee from Chhatrasal became the youngest Indian to compete at the Olympics at 18 years old. The Chhatrasal Stadium has been the breeding ground for several other talented wrestlers like - Bajrang Punia (a Tokyo medal favorite), Ravi Dahiya, and Deepak Punia, who will all compete in the Tokyo Olympics. Kumar’s life became even more intertwined with the stadium when he married Satpal Singh’s daughter, Savi Kumar in 2011. In the eyes of many, he did so purely out of respect for his teacher and the couple has two children.
The controversial Kumar
Presently, one of the administrators of the Chhatrapal Stadium, Sushil Kumar’s problems began back in the fag end of 2012, when he had a public fallout with Yogeshwar Dutt. Following the incident, Dutt left to form his own training centre and was later joined by a senior coach from Chhatrasal, who had alleged that Kumar had assaulted him. In fact, reports surfaced about several coaches having fallouts with the former World Champion.
The situation worsened when in 2016 he got involved in a dispute, regarding the representation of India at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, with the National Wrestling Federation. Maharashtra wrestler Narsingh Yadav had won a quota for India, by winning the bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships. Kumar, also training for Rio at the time, wanted a selection trial, owing to his impeccable record. The Wrestling Federation of India, however, refused to do so. He then moved his plea to the Delhi High Court, who also dismissed it. In an incredible turn of events, Narsingh Yadav later tested positive for anabolic steroids, before the Olympics. He alleged that during a national camp held in Sonpeta, his food had been tampered with, by a young wrestler from Chhatrasal. This turned into an extremely long-drawn fight, which even got the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) involved. Unfortunately for Yadav, in 2019, the CBI rejected his sabotage theory.
Kumar has also had an extremely ill-tempered bout in 2017 when a group of individuals assaulted his opponents, Parveen Rana, and Rana’s brother, after the national selection trials. Rana alleged that all of the assaulters were Kumar’s men. The two of them had to seek immediate medical attention at a hospital. An FIR was registered against Kumar and his men.
All of these incidents have definitely dealt a mighty blow to Kumar, but none so much as being the prime suspect in a murder case. The charges are so severe that there are already talks of him being stripped of the prestigious Khel Ratna, Arjuna, and Padma Shri Awards. Delhi Police are combing New Delhi and surrounding areas in search of the grappler who has managed to evade police detection until now. Importantly though, it must be remembered that Sushil Kumar’s involvement in the awful incident that took a young man’s life, is yet to be proven in a court of law. Hence, as of yet, he is still innocent until proven guilty. It can however be stated with certainty that the once highly revered, former World Champion wrestler’s reputation, has been tarnished forever.

I spend a lot of time on flight simulation. In May I asked my friends on social media to suggest destinations to fly to, and added a couple more airports with famously difficult approaches. With the number of suggestions and where they were located, I decided to plan a circumnavigation with a couple rules:
I can only fly routes used by real airlines
I need to fly the airplane type used on that route
I can only fly to each airport once
I just landed on the 31st of 49 flights. I have found so much fun planning this in the first place, and flying it the past couple days, that I wanted to share the journey here, via Google Earth screenshots. This journey was what gave me the idea for a tool I am now working on as my required senior project for my Computer Science major.
But firstly, if any of you have a suggestion for a place to fly, let me know! I enjoy planning how to add new destinations about as much as I do actually flying.
I decided to start and end in Harrisburg, PA in the United States, as it is the most recently airport I was at in real life, and it was one of the suggested destinations. The other suggested destinations were all over the sea from here, so I had to figure out how to best get to Europe with the airplanes I have available, so I took an American Airlines Airbus A320 to Charlotte and on to Boston.
At the time of starting the trip, I had only narrow-body airplanes in my sim-fleet, which meant that there were very few options for crossing the Atlantic Ocean. There are only a few airlines that operate narrow-body airplanes across the Atlantic, so I chose my favorite (that I have admittedly never flown on myself), Icelandair, so my journey taking their Boeing 757 from Boston to Stockholm Arlanda included a stopover in Keflavik, Iceland. From Stockholm I finally reached the first suggested destination, Malmö, Sweden in a Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A320. From there I had a quick hop down to Warsaw, Poland in a Wizz Air A320, before taking a Brussels Airlines Airbus A320 to my second suggested destination, Brussels, Belgium. After Brussels I took an Austrian Airlines Airbus A320 to the first difficult approach of the journey, in Samos, Greece with a stopover in Vienna. I absolutely love Austrian’s A320, although nothing special, the red looks very nice, and I had one of my favorite flights of my life on one. From Samos I took an Edelweiss Airbus A320 to the next difficult approach, in Madeira, Portugal. I then flew an EasyJet A320 back to the mainland, to land in Lisbon, Portugal. Before crossing south into Africa aboard a Royal Air Maroc Boeing 737-800, to Casablanca.
I always forget how big Africa is until I sim-fly over it. From Casablanca, I flew to the next suggested destination, N’Djamena, Chad. The suggestion only requested that I land in the country of Chad, so while researching airports in Chad, I came across “Dildo Airport”, in Dildo, Chad, which I found funny as an English speaker. From there on I continued east, flying an Ethiopian 737-800 to Addis Abbaba, ethiopia and on to Muscat, Oman. I then took the short hop to Karachi, Pakistan, the next suggested destination.
The next two destinations don’t have very many flight connections, so figuring out this part of the journey was tricky, as I didn’t want to fly too far off the path. To get to Baku, Azerbaijan, I flew a Gulf Air A320 with a stop in Bahrain International Airport. To get to the relatively nearby Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, I had to make a large detour and fly an Air Astana Boeing 757-200 to Almaty, Kazakhstan, before mostly backtracking in a Turkmenistan Airlines Boeing 737-800 to Ashgabat. From there I continued in the Turkmenistan 737 to New Delhi, India, from where I continued to Kathmandu, Nepal in an IndiGo A320. My next two flights are technically fictional, since I flew a Druk Air A320 to the next difficult approach in Paro, Bhutan, and form there to Bankgok, Thailand. This is fictional because Druk Air only operate the shortened version of the A320, the Airbus A319, and I didn’t want to spend the $69 to buy an A319. From Bangkok I flew an HK Express Airbus A320 to Hong Kong.
From Hong Kong I flew another Hong Kong-based airline to the next requested destination, Wuhan, China, with a Cathay Dragon A320. I then continued on to Beijin, China with a China Southern Boeing 737-800. After this I had to break my rules, as the only route I can simulate to the requested destination Pyongyang, North Korea, was Air China’s Boeing 737-700 route between between Beijing-Capital Airport and Pyongyang. My most recent flight was in a MIAT Mongolian Airlines Boeing 737-800 to Ulaanbaatar, Mongola. I plan to fly east to Tokyo tomorrow, I don’t have enough time today, as the flight from Ulaanbaatar to Tokyo is deceptively long.
I didn’t realize how long this post would be. I doubt anyone will read all of it, but if you do, hello, and thank you!

Breaking News: Indian Government Head To Ukraine Borders To Help Indians 2022
Ukraine Borders
Ukraine Russia War: India said it would do all possible to bring back Indians still stuck in Ukraine.
New Delhi:
Teams of Indian foreign ministry officials have been sent to Ukraine's land borders with Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania to provide assistance to any fleeing Indian nationals, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla told a press briefing. With the Ukranian airspace closed, India on Thursday said it was sending government teams for the land borders of Ukraine to help evacuate 16,000 Indians still stuck in the country that came under Russian attack on Thursday. "Over 20 officers are manning the control room 24x7. Russian-speaking officers have been sent to Ukraine. We do all possible to bring the students back," he added. Ukrainian forces were battling Russian invaders around nearly all of the country's perimeter on Thursday as missiles rained down on cities including the capital Kyiv, in the biggest attack on a European state since the second World War. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin later on Thursday and called for an immediate end to the violence and the resolution of disputes through dialogue. "The Prime Minister has conveyed ... that the topmost priority of the government is the safety and security of Indian nationals, including Indian students, and their evacuation from Ukraine," Mr Shringla said. Around 4,000 Indians have already been evacuated since the government set up repatriation efforts a month ago, he added. Indian government advisories call on Indians to find shelter or if possible to attempt to leave the country by land, he said, after Ukraine shut its airspace and evacuation flights were suspended. Russia opened military operations against Ukraine this morning after months of tension over Ukraine's proximity to NATO. Mr Putin earlier claimed that Ukraine is a puppet of the West and was never a proper state anyway. By evening, Russia claimed that its military has destroyed more than 70 military targets in Ukraine, including 11 airfields, 18 radar stations of the S-300 and Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems. At least 68 people -- soldiers and civilians -- were killed, according to an AFP tally from various Ukrainian official sources. Earlier today, Ukraine Envoy Igor Polikha sought India's intervention, saying, "India is a very influential global player… We are asking for a strong voice of India". ukraine, ukraine rassia war View Other Post Read the full article

Flight Booking Tips for Finding Cheapest Tickets
When asked about the most comfortable way of travelling, most of the travellers will say it is ‘airways’. Taking a flight is undoubtedly the best and fastest possible way of reaching a destination but not always pocket-friendly. We often spend more than half of our travel budget on booking flight tickets. But sadly, there is always a person who got the tickets at a lesser price, sitting right next to you in your flight.
Although we cannot guarantee a substantial amount of dip in the ticket booking fare, what we can do is provide you with clever flight booking tips that will help you in finding the cheapest possible airfare. Keep scrolling for outsmarting the airlines and booking low-cost flight tickets:
1. Book Early
Pre-booking is not a hack but a smart step for economical travelling. A recent survey has revealed that booking a flight ticket 47 days before the departure will help you in grabbing the cheapest airfare. Also, a recent research has suggested that the best time to book a flight ticket is on a Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
Makeflychep advice you to Avoid booking flight tickets on Weekends as it is the peak time and often ticket prices are hiked.
2. Choose Flying Days Smartly
As we all know, most of the frequent commuters fly on Fridays and Sundays. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays are the least opted days for flying as it often means sacrificing work or an extra vacation day. However, you can save money by flying on the above three days, as airline companies lower ticket prices for avoiding empty seats in their aircraft.
One must avoid flying during major holidays like Diwali, Holi, and Christmas as ticket prices are awfully high on these occasions.
3. Expand your Research
As a savvy traveller, you must expand your research before investing in fight tickets. Jumping on to the first option on the internet for booking airline tickets is not the correct approach. You must always make sure to check plenty of options and deals before booking. Some popular flight fare aggregators like Priceline & Skyscanner can also be referred for finding the best deal. Further, browsing the official website of the airline too can grab you the best deal.
If you are sure about your travel plans, go for non-refundable tickets!
4. Fly during Early Hours
Try and get on the earliest flight of the day as the tickets are relatively cheap for morning departures. Another benefit of flying during the early hours of the day is that if your flight is oversold then you may get a chance to negotiate with the airlines for providing you with an upgraded seat and added amenities without having to pay more.
Morning flight means there will be fewer cars on the road on your way to the airport.
5. Mask your IP Address
Airline companies follow a dynamic pricing technique which means that the price for the same seat in the same flight may differ for two different individuals. Likewise, flight prices differ from country to country. For instance, if you are booking a flight ticket from the US then you may have to pay a higher fare than the one booking it from India (owing to the fact that INR is cheaper than the USD). Hence, masking the IP address of your device for screwing its location may help you in booking the cheapest seat.
The above-mentioned trick is not illegal but is prohibited by some of the airline companies.
6. Dump your Browser’s Cache and Cookies
According to research, airline websites use browser cookies to help track your search as a part of their “dynamic pricing” scheme. Therefore, clearing your browser’s cache and cookies may help you in escaping that trap and booking a cheap flight ticket.
Pro Tip: You can opt for the incognito mode of your browser for similar outcomes.
7. Opt for Connecting FlightsIt is well known that booking a direct flight saves plenty of time. But only a few people know about the fact that connecting flights are comparatively cheap. Therefore, opting for a connecting flight may help you in saving a fortune.
8. Utilize Loyalty Credits
Airline companies love to pamper their loyal customers. Hence, not all but most of the airlines award ‘Travel or Miles Credits’ to their frequent flyers that can be utilized for making future bookings. Also, most of the bank’s credit and debit cards come with exclusive travel points that can be utilized for reducing the cost of flight tickets.
See! Outsmarting the “dynamic pricing scheme” of airline giants isn’t as difficult as we thought it would be. So, the next time you are about to book a flight ticket for you or your friends keep the above-mentioned 8 tricks in mind for finding the best deal.

DAY 4820
Jalsa, Mumbai May 9/10, 2021 Sun/Mon 12:24 AM
When young suffer .. when the child suffers .. when the haunt of its bearing clouds the mind with nothing but that .. when time and again the repeat of its presence in some permanence in your life propels you to understand the environ is daunting and without consider .. then gripped in remorse and sadness you drop all else and sit with nothingness ..
One can move mountains in belief and the weight of endless adversity, but if the insides are drenched in the assess that the paths are damaged and worn .. played out in the drama of a fine performance that seeks attention when attention is not the real cause .. then you sit up .. take stock .. work out the for and the against and come to conclude that the eventual set , should be to remove the cancerous pain , bear it for a while but live in the relief that it shall not be there in permanence once removed ..
The ability to , despite unfavourable nature , shall ever be the halting block .. but the drama and the performance can ever be seen through, especially when you are surrounded by individuals similar in the despite ..
Your complacency could be renowned .. as may be your penchant for harmony .. but for whom .. your own demeanour shall never be the object .. the other works arduously to be in the attention ..
Point is .. they seek away from theirs .. we know the seek .. we see the transparent glass that you present each episode .. that glass gives it all away .. it is now no longer the gambit .. it is the humour of farce in the comedy of the bards errors ..
Best then to ‘away away bright lite ..’
Give me room and space to breathe in my birth environ .. that is reason for departure from the fire tests to the charm of warmth ..
I speak in parables .. may be .. but there is a reality to the mind if nothing else .. a reality that brings and weighs you down .. puts the mountain over the head and drowns you with its booming energy of volume suppressing the tone of the need to air it ..
Air it then .. and end it ..
WORK on the conditions about, relentlessly continues .. campaigns for relief and the give .. at forums that cover the seas beyond .. one such the VaX Concert with dignitaries of the celebrity brand and more resolve to join the fight .. and WIN ..
The one immediately below 👇🏿 , be one such ..
vimeo
BUT more at home , the presence of the progeny develops into endeavours that stun you with their thinking and thought .. and our little Navya Naveli .. not so little anymore, speaks about the venture she has begun on her own, with her own and determined to build the initiative she believes in .. here be the link .. for one so young and mature in thought and word was truly a moment of great pride as a Nana as grand parents .. 👇🏿
Link for Navya Spotify Link : https://open.spotify.com/episode/4DnVZj9kRFjrwm71r5ZVc9?si=0x5egAuDQWmXd1qYH2fkvA
... and there is more .. for some are disturbed in the Ef fraternity of the brevity in the Blog and wonder if the mind is disturbed , ill , concerned , indisposed ..
No it is not ..
The hesitancy comes from whether to SPEAK or not ..
But whether I show concern over it or not I find that surreptitiously some of them that are the privileged in the World of writing and inform, have through means sourced the matter that was kept under the hatter .. and now as with all matter within these modern times, nothing remains buried in silence .. it rises and volumes the announce elsewhere ..
SO .. my Nana, my grandfather , my Mother’s Father Sardar Khazan Singh Suri the affluent Bar at Law in pre partition Punjab, was married to Amar Kaur Sodhi, my Naani , my Mother’s mother .. and gave birth to my Mother Teji Kaur Suri ..
The Sodhi’s are considered the descendents of the Guru’s of the Sikh religion .. the location of the birth of the religion being AnandPur Sahib, the Gurudwara now in India Punjab and a most revered temple of the Sikhs ..
The readings of the autobiography of my Father, detailing the history of his In Laws educated me .. I never had courage or the need to ask this of my Father or my Mother .. but having known ,it came to me that there has been no remembrance of Nana and Naani through the years .. so a remembrance needed to be done ..
CovID occurred and in the months and time that has passed from the ‘20 to the ‘21 and one witnessed the hardships of those that suffered ..
Yes I do charity , but have ever believed it to be done, than spoken of .. it is embarrassing , in too great a self consciousness .. of one that has ever felt shy of public presence despite the profession - one that has to find its usp in public domains is relevant today for me ..
The pressure though .. the every day abuse and the filth of distasteful comment has never been of attention to me or to the family .. we have seen it from time immemorial .. happens .. some are ridden with the wisdom that it shall happen .. so all the efforts continued in the quiet .. no divulge to the information agencies .. no talk of it either .. only the receiver knew and that was the end ..
Over 1500 farmers’ bank loans paid off by my personal fund and prevented them from suicide , as the suicides grew .. from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, UP et al .. calling them over after identifying with respective banks and getting them all to Janak and in the presence of the bank representatives, paying them in person and getting them to strike off the loan , giving each farmer the document that they did not owe any more , that their loan was over and completed and paid back to the bank .. some 300 odd from UP could not all be present .. a bogie in the train booked for a limited number of 30 to 50 of them , from their respective cities in UP, received them in Mumbai , put them in buses , given a drive of the city of Mumbai, brought over to Janak, fed and given the loan cancellation certificate and put back on the train to their homes .. all at my expense ..
The brave soldiers at the border of the Country who had been martyred , their lists sought and their families , young wives and their children, some wives pregnant and expectant , given succour ..
The martyr’s at Pulwama after the terrible terrorist attack , their families spread all over the land contacted and brought to Janak and given succour .. at the hands of Abhishek and Shweta ..
Those that suffered during the CoViD last year .. providing food for over 400,000 - 4 lakh - daily wage earners in the country for a month .. feeding almost 5000 in the city each day lunch and dinner ..
Provided masks , PPE units to front line warriors, Police Hospitals in the thousands .. through personal funds .. donating to the Sikh Committee that was helping the migrants to travel back home in the Inter State busses , where the drivers were mostly Sikhs ..
When the migrants were walking back home, some without the benefit or affordability of shoes .. provided hundreds of chappals and shoes to them .. due to lack of travel facility, booked 30 buses to locations in UP and Bihar and supplied them food and water for the overnight travel ..
Booked an entire train from Mumbai to UP to carry 2800 migrant passengers free of cost at my expense .. and when the destination State blocked the train from coming into their State and cancelled the train .. immediately chartered 3 Indigo Airline planes and flew almost 180 migrants in each flight to UP and Bihar and some to Rajasthan and J&K .. free of cost ..
And as the virus spread, donated an entire Diagnostic Centre .. opened at Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in Delhi through the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, set up in the premises of the Gurudwara for medical help for the poor and needy .. an MRI machine and other Sonographic and Scan equipments of expenses beyond my means, but set up inspite .. in the memory of my Nana , Naani and my Mother ..
A 250 to 450 bed care centre set up with further donation at the Rakabganj Sahib Gurudwara today in Delhi and soon to procure for them O2 ( Oxygen ) concentrators, not in stock or easily available , from overseas limited stock to be donated to Delhi where the need is immense and some to Mumbai .. coming in within the week .. 50 of them coming in from Poland by 15th and the rest around 150 from perhaps the US .. orders placed , some have arrived and given to the Hospital in need ..
Ventilators of immediate need to the BMC and to the Municipal Hospitals ordered .. around 20 of them , of course within my limited means , to be in, in a few days .. some 10 have arrived today and on custom release shall be delivered ..
A 25-50 bed Hospital care centre setting up at Juhu Army location at a School Hall , the Ritambhara School, with all facilities and should be up by the 12th of May .. donated funds to set up ..
3 very important detection machines donated to Nanavati Hospital , last week to help in the detection of CoviD ..
Feeding about a 1000 in the slums and poor sections of the city ..
Young children .. orphaned by the sudden death of the parents, left in oblivion .. have adopted 2 and shall be put in an orphanage in Hyderabad .. their study board and lodging free till they finish School .. from the 1st to the 10th .. and if they turn out bright to provide them with free upper education ..
.. and more , as and when the means are affordable ..
AGRANDISEMENT .. !! NO .. let it be emulated .. if each were to put in not the above but even a small drop of assistance, the severity of the situation would begin to ease ..
It is painful to see the misery around and the inability to be able to do something for them ..
BUT we shall fight and more than that .. shall .. WIN !
So help me God .. !!
