Did the last Innistrad sets having cards like Meathook Massacre (Based on Texas Chainsaw), Fleshtaker (Slashers in general), Heirleem Mirror (Based on Candyman), etc. going well add to/inspire the Duskmourn to be more modern horror?

Sinstalker (Slayer Archetype)

(I've previously shown my love of the Obedience feats Paizo has published with a fair of archetypes with Divine Obedience, and my love definitely extends to the other outsiders who grant boons of their own. Notably, most of these feats don't have a martial prestige class to call their own! Tragic. So I'm here to make that happen, starting with Fiendish Obedience. These are gonna be relatively short and sweet, but I hope you like them and find a good use for them!)

A sinstalker is a killer who has pledged her life and blade to a fiendish power, be it a demon, daemon, devil, or other force that seeks pain and cruelty. Sinstalkers are sometimes used as in-house assassins by organized cults of these dark powers, but the majority of them are free agents, terrorizing their towns and cities in the name of their dark patron, relishing in their ability to kill.

Sinsworn

A sinstalker, at level 1, chooses a fiend to be her patron. She must be of the same alignment as her patron and continue worshiping and obey the tenets of her patron, or else lose access to her studied target ability and her fiendish boons. She also gains Fiendish Obedience as a bonus feat.

Fiendish Boons

As a sinstalker grows in power, she attains special powers specific to her fiendish patron. At level 10, she gains access to her patron’s first level boons. At level 13, she gains her patron’s second level boons. At level 16, she gains her patron’s third level boons. 

This replaces the Slayer Talents gained at levels 10 and 16.

Extinguisher

At level 9, a sinstalker gains a dark boon from her patron in reward for killing her enemies. When she reduces a Good creature below 0 hit points, she immediately gains 2 life per HD, and may remove one of the following conditions from herself; blinded, confused, deafened, exhausted, fatigued, nauseated, and sickened.

This replaces the Sneak Attack advance gained at level 9.

occupation : mid-level gang member / grave digger

appearance: pale, fair skinned, does not tan easily. tall and athletically built (6"6, 225lbs), somewhat underfed in appearance but otherwise muscular and defined. hair is dark blonde, worn messy and short most of the time. unkempt. eyes are a light green. scars are too numerous to count. (notably 3 bullet scars, 2 stabbing injuries, many idiotic boyish stunts resulting in a number of smaller, less serious scars on his body). piercings in left nostril, both ears, tongue. tattoos are also too numerous to count. from neck to feet, he is covered in a slew of tattoos, some good quality work, some questionably done, that showcase his moods and whims over the years. the most significant of these is his last name in large sized olde english lettering across his chest, a formal badge of being initiated into the family business/gang.

What's the logic for slasher movie serial killers, like Fleshtaker, to be assassin creature type? it feels a bit off to me. Was it just decided it was the least off of existing creature types, and not worth creating a type just for Fleshtaker?

Basically. Assassin was the closest without making a new creature type.
