(What you tote?) More guns than roses, foes is shaking in their boots; Invisible bully like The Gooch. Disappear, vamoose, you’re wack to me - Take them rhymes back to the factory. I see the gimmicks, the wack lyrics; The shit is depressing, pathetic - please forget it. You’re mad ‘cause my style you’re admiring; Don’t be mad, UPS is hiring.

Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Ciara, Timbaland and more at Barclays Center

On Monday, August 12, 2024, Missy Elliott’s “Out of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience” arrived at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The sold out show was a part of Elliott’s first ever headlining tour. For her first tour as a headliner, Elliott recruited Ciara, Busta Rhymes, and producer Timbaland. Missy, Ciara, and Busta each brought out surprise guests at Barclays. Ciara was joined by Lola Brooke and Lady London for their song, “Da Girls (Girls Mix),” and later Cici brought out Ellie the Elephant, the incredible mascot for the NY Liberty, to dance with her on stage. Busta Rhymes was joined by his hypeman, Spliff Star, his family (after introducing his and Spliff’s children, he jokingly told them to get the fuck off the stage), dancehall artist Ding Dong, his Flipmode Squadmate Rah Digga, and LL Cool J. Busta shared that he and LL hadn’t performed “Flava in Ya Ear (Remix)” live before together, a song released thirty years ago. And Missy brought out surprise guest Lil’ Kim and her tourmates during her set.
Missy’s show was fantastic; the whole experience was wonderful from beginning to end but her production was one of the best I’ve seen of an arena show. It was a spectacle from when she first “landed” on stage until she left. People were cheering so much that she returned to briefly to wave goodbye again. Busta Rhymes noted that the show fell one day after the 51st birthday of hip-hop and it truly felt special being one of the many fans to see the visionary Missy Elliott finally headline her own concert, decades after she debuted and demanded our attention.
I brought along my point and shoot camera to Barclays earlier this month and some images from the show can be found in this gallery.

Craig Jamieson Mack (May 10, 1970 – March 12, 2018) was a rapper and record producer and was famous during his tenure under Bad Boy Records.
He was born in The Bronx and raised on Long Island. He began rapping as a teenager under the name MC EZ. His first single, “Get Retarded”, was released in 1988. The single was backed with and credited as MC EZ & Troup.
He became friends with hip-hop act EPMD and went on tour with the duo, doing jobs as a roadie. He took advantage of an opportunity that Alvin Toney made possible for him to rap for Sean Combs. He secured a record deal with Bad Boy Records.
He is best known for his 1994 hit single “Flava in Ya Ear”, which was released under his real name. He was technically the first rapper to release music on Bad Boy Records. He released a second album in 1997 without Bad Boy, but none of the singles charted. He would appear in the music video for Puffy’s single “I Need a Girl (Part One)”. The single “Mack Tonight” was released for the album in 2006. He was absent from the hip-hop industry until 2012 when a video was leaked on YouTube saying he had joined a Christian ministry. He resided in the Overcomer Ministry located in Walterboro, South Carolina. The Overcomer Ministry’s YouTube channel released a video, “Craig Mack Testimony”, on May 22, 2016, in which he appears in the middle of the church to rap about Christianity through a remix of “When God Comes”. The song expresses his personal beliefs.
On November 26, 2012, Beazylife Distribution released a new Craig Mack mixtape, Operation Why2K? – Hosted by B-Eazy, through DatPiff.com. In 2017, The Mack World Sessions was released, containing 18 previously unreleased tracks. Dutch record label MECSMI released the That’s My Wordmixtape. On November 25, 2018, ‘That’s My Word’ posthumously won Mixtape of the Year at Bout Dat Online’s Audio Dope Awards. This marked the first time he had won an award since “Flava In Ya Ear” won Single of the Year at the 1995 Source Awards.
He was married and had two children, a son and a daughter. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

Craig Mack was an American rapper from New York, best known for his hit single "Flava in Ya Ear," released in 1994. This track, produced by Easy Mo Bee, became a massive success, catapulting Mack's career.
He was one of the early artists signed to Bad Boy Records.
"Flava in Ya Ear" was a huge commercial success and was remixed with the participation of renowned artists such as The Notorious B.I.G.,
LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, and Rampage. However, despite the success
of this single, Craig Mack's subsequent musical career didn't reach the same level of success.
Apart from "Flava in Ya Ear", Craig Mack released other songs that achieved some degree of success. Tracks like "Get Down" and "Making Moves With Puff" gained attention. Craig Mack's distinctive vocal style and unique approach left an imprint on the hip-hop industry.
After departing from Bad Boy Records, he continued to work on music.
In his later years, Craig Mack distanced himself from the music industry and became associated with religious circles, dedicating himself to his faith. He passed away in 2018 at 46 y.o due to congestive heart failure.
