They also talk on the Doctor Who Flashcast about this being an intentional riff on the familiar Doctor-light pattern where there is a Doctor-proxy who saves the day.

It's gonna be a looong time before we stop noticing more details here
Yeah, it felt really weird in the moment how Doctor-like Ricky wound up being, and while of course he already has that reputation as a celeb, at the same time we can see first-hand that Lindy is a lot more cooperative with Ruby anyway

My newest deck is pre-Mending. Nicol Bolas can choke on my Dominarian Slivers. My Arcbound Affinity is free of Phyrexian Oil. Tell Jace that I’ll be quaffing black mana on the Weatherlight with Urza and Karn and he’s not invited; and if he tries to crash I’ll flashcast a turn-zero Protean Hulk into a -24 life total so fast it’ll make his head spin. That skinny twink looks good in a hood but he’s got some stuff to learn still.
My powers are undiminished, kid.
I love MTG partially because it’s a setting that explicitly has "Gods" that are like ten headed hydras and 20 story titans and then also contains things above the gods and those things are like "emo nerd boy with a really good teleport" and "furry bear bait"

Can you recommend any DW podcasts that aren't overbearingly negative/obtuse about this era and the timeless child storyline? I don't mind criticism and discussion but so many podcasters seem so set on their preconceived notions of chibnalls writing that it seems like we're watching a completely different show and it honestly makes me feel like im going crazy sometimes lmao
Oof. I know how you feel. Here's a few podcast I found that's not overly negative on Chibnall and the Chibnall era.
- The Queer Archive Podcast, so far the only podcast I know that talks about Timeless Child in the positive and (rightly) links it to themes of colonialism, imperialism, and white supremacy.
- Verity Podcasts - Revolving Podcast panel, they're willing to see where this Timeless Child arc will go.
- Radio Free Skaro - Not negative on Chibnall, wary of the Timeless Child arc. Even more tired of fandom shenanigans. Has some industry news, rating talk. You will know when they start their ratings talk because they have a snazzy jiggle called: "STATS!" One of the hosts will try to run away because they hate ratings talk.
- Doctor Who Flash cast - Flashcast by Jason Snell. Depending on the guest, I don't usually agree with them but they're okay to listen to.

Welcome to Our New Blog
Greetings and Salutations, gentle readers! Please excuse our dust, assorted wires waiting to trip up the unwary, and the piles of precariously perched tomes lying about. We hope to have our first podcast recorded and available shortly, and greatly appreciate your patience. But for now, a short bit about our history and our mission.
If you’re anything like me, you have a lot of books in your to-be-read stack. And that sometimes it feels like no matter how fast you read, the stack just never seems to stop growing. Plus, there are so many other things clamoring for your time and attention--silly things like gainful employment, relationships, travel to exotic locales--and since you’re a known hoarder of books, your friends and family always have a recommendation to share. Naturally, some books keep getting shuffled further and further down the stack because you just have to read this one that just came out...
I too had this problem, until I developed my elaborate and entirely arbitrary system of presidence in the stack. As a result, I tend to be more than a little bit behind the times on what’s new and great in the literary world. So, while others are waiting with baited breath for Sarah J. Maas’ Kingdom of Ash  to finally arrive hot off the presses, I still have Empire of Storms  glaring at me from the YA pile. Rather than let this discourage me, I figured that there are probably others out there who share my dilemma of wanting to talk about something that the fandoms and forums moved on from several years ago.
But again... there’s that pesky issue of you not having a ton of free time on your hands to listen to me rave about my latest reads. So, I figured if podcasters and radio hosts can spend 1-3 hours and be heard, why not a 5-10 minute sprint? A Flash-cast! Each flashcast will be short and sweet, perfect for fitting into any podcast listening schedule no matter how hectic. Transcripts can be provided here if there are any requests for them, and as I go along, I’m sure that I will feel the urge to write reviews, post photos, and offer recommendations.
If you’re still with me, then thank you for reading! Happy hoarding!

❤️ 💛 💟
❤️- A happy memory that makes them smileFrom the memory log of Onslaught, Combaticon leader and tactician; happy memory that makes them smile
Yellow optics hidden by a yellow visor peered over the bars to the crib. There was no sparkling lying in it, so why was it here? The small blue and green youngling looked over when he heard a bot approaching. “Sire!” He exclaimed when he saw who it was, running to the bigger mech that picked him up. Flashcast smiled at the youngling in his arms. “What’s with the crib?” Onslaught couldn’t help but ask, no hint of an expression on his faceplate. “What if I told you that you’re going to be a big brother?” Flashcast asked. Onslaught’s optics widened and his mouth opened slightly. “Carrier sparked?” He asked. A chuckle escaped Flashcast and he nodded. “Yeah.” When it came time to place the newspark in its frame, Onslaught was sitting criss-cross in front of the smaller frame, his servos in between his legs. He noted that the color of the frame is mostly black and brown with a little bit of purple. The youngling watched as the spark was placed in the frame and as the sparkling’s systems were booted up. It was noted that the color of the sparkling’s optics were purple. The sparkling looked around before his optics landed on Onslaught, who smiled brightly and tilted his helm slightly. Almost immediately, the sparkling reached out to the youngling and made the grabby hands. That made Onslaught’s expression brighten and his smile widen. Picking up the sparkling, he held the younger close.
💛- A memory that makes them feel angryFrom the memory log of Onslaught, Combaticon leader and tactician; memory that makes them angry
Onslaught had gotten out of school in a grumpy mood. Today hadn’t been good to start with and it only got worse as it progressed. Not even carrier’s treats could fix his mood. “Come on, big mech. Can I have a smile?” Sky High asked and attempted to pinch his cheekplating, only to have him swat her servo away. “Stop it, carrier. You’re not helping,” he told. Sky High’s expression saddened and she pulled her servo back. “Oh, sorry. Guess I’ll leave you to it then,” she said and left her oldest youngling to read what was on his data pad. However, it didn’t take long for the mechling to get distracted with something he heard just out the window and what he saw out the corner of his optic. It was his younger brother Blast-Off and it looked like he was in trouble. Turning off his data pad, Onslaught turned to look fully outside and see that Blast-Off was cornered by a couple mechlings in Onslaught’s class and he was a bit damaged. “You’re such a burnout,” one said and kicked the younger. Ok, that did it. Onslaught stormed out to where they were and shouted, “Hey! Leave him alone!” Purple optics look at him and a smile crossed Blast-Off’s faceplate. “Big brother!” Scrambling to his pedes, the smaller youngling went and hid behind Onslaught. The other two laughed and looked at the visored mechling. “And what are you going to do about it, groundpounder? Huh? You’re practically as useless as he is.” Almost immediately, Onslaught charged the two while giving a battle cry and rammed his helm into them, effectively knocking them to the ground and the intakes out of them.
💟- Wildcard!!!From the memory log of Onslaught, Combaticon leader and tactician; random memory
The Combaticons had taken control of Cybertron after their banishment from Earth. Onslaught had been messing with the space bridge tech while Brawl and Blast-Off were sitting just outside the window. He heard the door to the building swish open, but paid no mind to who entered. The mech who entered paused and looked when he noticed he wasn’t alone, spotting the tactician almost immediately. Kind of hard to miss with his size and all. His color scheme seemed all too familiar. That’s when it hit. “Onslaught?” The newbie asked. That made the Combaticon leader stop what he’s doing and look at the other. Hadn’t heard that voice since he joined the Decepticons. It was Flashcast. Seems he’s neutral for Onslaught couldn’t find an Autobot or Decepticon symbol on his frame. “Sire?” He asked. A nod from the other mech. “What happened to you and Blast-Off? Haven’t heard from either of you since the war started,” Flashcast said. “Can’t talk sire, kind of busy at the moment,” Onslaught told as he got back to work. It wasn’t long before they heard a certain shuttle say, “I’m sure Onslaught has a brilliant plan in mind. He always does.”

Riding on technology: Matatu convert passengers to internet users
Riding on technology: Matatu convert passengers to internet users
Travelling from Nairobi central business district (CBD) to the working-class suburb of Rongai normally takes 45 minutes to two hours, depending on traffic. Yet inside the “Ferguson” Matatu – named for its colourful images of the former Manchester United manager – half a dozen passengers seem oblivious to the length of their commute. Instead, they sit glued to their smartphones, checking the…
