“Well, I think all the houses have merits, but I wouldn’t mind being a Ravenclaw,” Lily said, ignoring the glares being shot over her head.
“Me and James are going to be Gryffindors!” Pete said, desperately trying to dissipate this new weird atmosphere.
“How do you know?” Lily asked, curious.
“We don’t,” James said with a shrug. “But it will be Gryffindor.”
“How?” Severus asked, scepticism dripping from his voice and his eyes still glued on Sirius.
James shrugged. “Because I said so.”
That made the other kids giggle —even Severus— and James pout. Then, Sirius turned towards him and, with an intensity beyond desperation that led James’ curiosity to spike, asked the only question that mattered: “Why do you want to be a Gryffindor?”
James looked Sirius directly in those ice-blue fjordan eyes and answered without hesitation.
“It's the house of those who stand up for what is right. Sure, it isn’t the house of kindness or resourcefulness or intelligence, but I don’t mind not being the kindest, the most resourceful, or even the most intelligent. As long as I always have the courage to fight for what I believe in. I mean, what even is the point of all those other traits if you are too scared to use them for good? The way I see it, it takes a Gryffindor to pave the way. That’s why.”

“Not a day goes by without laughing thinking about Terje”
DAILY: Jarle Kvale is a front man in Vreid - and was best friends with Terjo Bakken.
OSLO/SOGNDAL: It's almost ridiculous how quickly time flies. Think 10 years.
But it doesn't feel like he's completely awake. We talk about Terje for the day.
JARLE KVALE IS one of the people who knew Terje Bakken best. They grew up in the same hamlet. Together with the brothers Vegard and Terje made up Jarle a tight trio. First in games and fun on the football pitch, where Terje was the goalkeeper.
- We had our own place, the Sauaperla stadium up there. There were many hard battles, Jarle remembers. But at the age of 12-13 there was less and less football, - more and more music on the two teams -
- THE TASTE OF MUSIC WAS Growing up probably mostly came via Terje's older brother and their friends. It started with Kiss and Metallica, but soon things got tougher. Terje started of all places in the accordion club.
He got an accordion at the age of 11 and quickly learned to play. He wasn't like that
long there, Jarle tells.
All the way back in 1994, Terje started Windir as a one-man band. He played all the instruments and made all the tek stars and all the music himself on the first two CDs.
The third musical friend in the neighborhood, Jorn Holen, played drums on everything Terje made, but he was a member of the other metal band on the farm - Ulcus Molle together with Jarle.
THE PERHAPS IMPORTANT
GUEST, outsider
the factor for the teenagers being able to create a proper musical platform was Jorn's father, Svein Holen. He let the young people spend time in the barn, first in a small cramped room, later in a much larger one, which they decorated and polished up seventeen.
- I am eternally grateful to Svein for this, Terje was too. We talked a lot about how lucky we were to be able to drive to ourselves, when we wanted without fixed incubation times and adults as determined.
Here the young people were slowly but surely to play different instruments.
And the two bonded slowly but surely together. But there was still a way to go for Terje, because he was ready for - HE WAS A searching person, always looking to try new things. You can tell he was a bit restless. loose soul, who liked to go his own way. He was a little worried about what others thought of him, says Jarle.
But even if they continued as two bands right up until 1999, they worked closely together and they almost always played together. Listen to and tease each other and talk a lot.
- We could sit all night discussing. Like that time we sat down in the morning and talked about the hospital policy in Sogn and Fjordane. I have no idea how I got there.
So, in 1999, Terje was ready to take a step further and the six-piece band Windir say the light of day then the collaboration developed between best friends
Jarle and Terje moved on.
They wrote most of the lyrics and songs, doing each for themselves at first, because they sat down and perhaps sewed Jatane together. Or tip each other.
VREID, WHICH IS the band in which Jarle and Jorn are still in, saw the light of day almost 10 years ago, and today has a large international career. The band is a draw at the biggest metal festivals, both nationally and internationally.
And has many big near misses behind him. Windirfans can be heard and seen everywhere.
- They come with t-shirts with the Windir brand, with tattoos of our emblem and of Terje. I have seen many large tattoos of him.
They have CDs, records, pictures, in short, everything possible.
Terje or Valfar has a very large position out there, 10 years after he left. He is an icon. Big role model for many bad musicians and fans. He never bir gloymd.
- Keifor this position, do you think?
- He did something no one had done for. He then mixed folk melodies and black metal.
Terje was totally preoccupied with local history and boiled it together with music for parish metal. It did not bother him. Today, parish metal is a well-known style in the global metal scene.
An approach and a style that many new bands use. All thanks to being a man. Silver and extremely talented. He is one of the greats, quite simply, says Jarle Kvale.
FOR THE GOOD, they, Vreid, Windir and Ulcus Molle PLAN a memorial tour, where big-brother Vegard will sing at Windirlätane.
- It will be special. It's actually funny how quickly time has passed. Think 10 years ago. The loss of Terje is still there, but it doesn't feel like he's fully awake. We talk about him until the day. He is present in our lives, says Jarle Kvale.
He thinks it will be a good thing to travel on tour and play the old songs.
- It will be good for our own, but it will be completely safe. It's also good for all the fans, who like Terje so much. We must remember and honor him properly. But first I have to go to the barn and climb the old laths again. It will be strange without Terje...
(Now I cry)

Teo’s interview with Bergens Tidende
translated for y'all below!!

This 17-year-old goes from dream role to dream role: He was thrown into it
By: Frank Johnsen and Maria Aarekol (photography)
Published: 27. February 2024
It is not easy being a school student when you also have to handle major roles on TV and in theater.
Tumblr media
17-year-old Teo Tomczuk has experienced this in the last few years.
Teo Tomczuk will soon premiere on Den Nationale Scene (DNS, or The National Stage, the largest national theater in Bergen, Norway.)
When Bergens Tidende met him at Den Nationale Scene (DNS) in the morning, he had already been to school, Bergen Private Gymnas (a videregående skole, upper secondary school, in Bergen). He is in his second year there.
Right now, theater rehearsals await him. Teo has been given one of the main roles in Frode Grytten's “Menn Som Ingen Treng" (Men that no one needs), which premieres on the big stage on 6. April 2024.
Won a prize
The recording of seasons three and four of [the NRK series "Rykter"](https://www.bt.no/kultur/i/Qy17gA/her-denger-de-loes-paa-hverandre-i-nrk-satsingen-fra-bergen) has just finished. It took up a lot of the fall and winter.
“Fortunately, my school is supportive of my work in acting and music. My days will be packed, so I have to work in a structured way, be at home a lot of the time, and use Sundays for school work”, says Teo.
Tumblr media
Teo Tomczuk has busy days.
His parents are Polish. He grew up in the island municipality of Solund in Ytre Sogn and moved to Espeland three years ago.
The 17-year-old also has a growing music career underway, with concerts and releases planned.
One of his songs has been A1-listed on NRK P1. Last year he also received the “Luttprisen” prize for best newcomer. This is an award that celebrates the music scene in Sogn og Fjordane.

This year he will return, as a presenter, together with Kjartan Lauritzen (a Norwegian Rap artist), among others. The party will be in Balestrand.
“I love playing music. The goal is to release an album this year. Then a new song will be coming out soon, which is a bit more rock. And in Norsk. I'm really looking forward to putting it out. I'm playing with a band now, so there will be more pressure”, says Teo.
Barely knew what alcohol was
He was only 15 when he got the role of Mathias in the Bergen-produced series "Rykter", which follows a fictional 10. klasse (final year students of lower secondary school) on an island outside Bergen. It is about everything from drugs and alcohol to developing romances and sexual identity.
“There are adult themes, but it was just a matter of getting into the character and listening to the director. I come from a small island and barely knew what alcohol was. So a lot of it was new to me”, says Teo and smiles.
Tumblr media
Teo Tomczuk, Sisilja Garen, Martin Storebø Koh, and Alisah Süssmann also have main roles in the next season of “Rykter”. This photo is from the recording of “Rykter” in Telavåg this autumn. PHOTO: ALICE BRATSHAUG (ARKIV)
In the next seasons, the group of friends have started videregående skole (upper secondary school).
“The recording was maybe even more fun now, I felt safer as an actor. At the beginning everything was new, like we were thrown into something. But I actually learned very quickly. It's a fantastic group, everyone supports each other”, says Teo.
The last episode in season two ended with him and his friend in the series, Erik (played by Benjamin Ebbesen), suddenly kissing each other.
“People are very curious about what will happen next. This was the first time I had kissed a boy, and then I also had to do it on camera and with someone I know very well. But it felt natural for the role”, says Teo and he smiles.
A hit in Italy
The first seasons were seen by 200,000 people in Norway and were also a big hit in Italy.
“Italian fans are eager to send emails”, says Teo and he laughs.
Tumblr media
Teo Tomczuk plays Mathias in “Rykter”.
Germany is another important market for "Rykter". German funds were also needed to pay for the new seasons, a total of 30 episodes, which are scheduled to be released on the national tv channel in the fall.
Frode Grytten's play ["Men that nobody needs"](https://www.bt.no/kultur/i/XbkPnn/frode-grytten-sitt-nye-stykke-faar-urpremiere-paa-dns-i-bergen) is another step forward.
In the play, the audience meets seven very different men who tell their stories, almost monologues that run parallel with each other. Cover songs are also played throughout which intertwine with the stories.
Teo has done some musicals in the past. Among other characters, he has played Jean Valjean in "Les Misérables" in Nordfjordeid when he was 13.
A mystery
Acting at Den Nationale Scene (DNS) is still not something he would have even dared to dream about.
“I never thought I would get this far”, says Teo.
Tumblr media

But it just so happens that the lighting master at "Rykter", Poul Iversen, is married to theater director Solrun Toft Iversen. A recommendation was made, and Teo received a phone call.
Suddenly, the role was his, without an audition.
“It was very good.”
“What role are you playing?”
“I am a man, 19. The role will have a bit of mystery. It starts with me having a conversation with the headmaster at the school about a short story I wrote. It can also be perceived as a message of concern. Then things happen that I cannot reveal.”
“Do you get nervous thinking that 450 people in the audience will watch you on stage every night?”
“No. When I first read the script, I thought it would be difficult. But the script flows naturally, it's really just a matter of reading it over and over again. And to try to understand everything that has happened. Now I feel free, honestly, and can't wait to get started”, says Teo.
Tall for his age
He is the youngest of the actors in both "Men som ingen treng" and "Rykter", and has always been mature for his age. Not so surprising, perhaps, because Teo was already 1.75 tall (5’8” ish) in 4th grade.
Tumblr media
Here is Teo in the 7th grade with his classmate Borgar Espeland. PHOTO: PRIVATE
“I have pictures of me and my best friends when I was little, and I'm like two heads taller than the whole gang. And was sure that I was going to be 2.20 (7” ?? 😳🤯). But I stopped growing, so now the others are catching up with me”, he says, laughing.
He has 50,000 followers on Tiktok and 22,000 on Instagram, and he reports a lot of positive feedback.
“I grew up with almost no neighbors, so it's a bit of a strange time that I will be well known again.”
