I love your regional OCs! What are their relationships with Norway proper like?
Thanks!! 😍 I'm still not entirely sure about Norway's relation to them would be because it wouldn't make sense to make them all his "children" or something like that. So for now they are all just representatives for each region and Norway is the representation of the country in its entirety, not belonging or feeling more connected to a certain part.
Nord-Norge and Norway has a good relationship as individuals, as they bond over their love for nature, fishing and tough living conditions, but Nord-Norge is often unhappy with all the rules he needs to follow - though this evens out when he pays less tax, so all in all he's very chill about it ✨
Trøndelag is technically older than Norway, being formed as a region about 400 years before the country of Norway. Because of this Trøndelag is often stubborn in arguments and likes to oppose and complain about decisions Norway makes. Trøndelag probably has the strongest regional identity in the country. If Norway wants to drink and party he goes to Trøndelag.
Vestlandet and Norway are really good friends and they both like each other a lot! Norway often visits her at the farm and can spend a lot of time there helping her look after the goats and sheep. At night they tell each other stories and fairy-tales and talk about the past.
Østlandet sometimes think she is Norway and has a tendency to forget the other regions exist. She likes to boss Norway around and insists that he should let her get more responsibilities. They still like each other, but the relationship is complicated.
Sørlandet has a very chill relationship with Norway and Norway likes him. He is not very strong as a region and tends to be forgotten by the others, but Norway always thinks of him and makes sure to keep him company. Sørlandet is usually very positive and laid-back, just don't bring up religion.

Back with some more Norwegian Regions! ✨
Molde football club had a match against German Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League last week. Norwegian football teams ending up in group play in Europa League is pretty big and many national newspapers will say that we need to band together as a nation and support the teams that make it. However, everyone hates Molde - especially people from Trøndelag.
So, when I, my German friend who is a fan of Leverkusen, and another friend of us drove to Molde to watch the game, we all rooted for Leverkusen. My friend was a little unsure whether if they should wear their Leverkusen shirt or not - meanwhile I clearly wore the colours of Rosenborg (Trøndelag's football team) and our friend wore Bodø/Glimt (Northern-Norway's best football team) colours and merch.
Shout-out to my friend who said: "this is the beginning of a bad joke; a german, a trønder, and a northerner walk into a Molde game, and all of them support the germans".
#norwegian regions#hws norwegian regions#aph norwegian regions#hetalia ocs#aph trøndelag#aph vestlandet#aph nord-norge#hws trøndelag#hws vestlandet#hws nord-norge#hate hate hate Molde by!#this is the kind of shit I love with hetalia etc:#being able to illustrate funny interactions between nations and regions based on things that happen in my life#I feel like you must really be into football to really understand this tho 😅😅#our dialects revealed us too!! Clearly they heard we were not there to support them - which trønder goes to Molde to support them??#love how regional newspapers in Trøndelag were just shitting on Molde regardless 😂😂 it is ingrained in our culture#a previous Rosenborg player scored a goal against Molde in another Europa League game and he was interviewed after-#he said he did his duty as a trønder when they asked if it felt bad scoring against a Norwegian team 😂😂😂 love you Midtsjø#also Aker Stadion in Molde was so shit compared to Lerkendal omg 👀 I mean - the stadion in itself was fine but the atmosphere was shit#ik Rosenborg is shit rn but at least the games on Lerkendal has a nice vibe regardless

The Battle of Hjørungavåg - for the Mythtalia March by @hwsevents
-
"Never have Danes held such a battle with Norwegians, not before nor since" - Fagrskinna.
-
The battle of Hjørungavåg took place outside the Norwegian coast in the year 986, and was a sea battle between an invading Danish army and a defending Norwegian one. It was a battle of great national significance as the ruling Earl Håkon defended the country against the Danish King Svein Tjugeskjegg aided by the Joms Vikings, who wanted to take control over Norway and christen it.
The battle begun after some farmers tricked the Danes into believeing Earl Håkon only had 2-3 ships with him. They charged forth and got surprised by 50 ships lying in wait for them.
It was a fierce battle, and despite the element of surprise, the Norwegians suffered heavy losses early on. Most of the losses were with Earl Håkon, who fought against Svein Tjugeskjegg, a fight so intense that he had to shed his chainmail as it had become torn apart by all the weapons hitting him. Håkon's sons Eirik and Svein Håkonson fought against the Joms Vikings, Eirik saving his brother. This is when the battle turns.
Suddenly, a terrifying storm hits, with fierce waves of hail. The storm seemed almost magic and supernatural, and on the side of the Norwegians. Had the pagans used dark magic? It is said that Earl Håkon had sacrificed his 7 year old son Erling in a ritual for victory (probably false). The Earls of Lade had a connection to the female godess and spirit Torgerd Hølgebrud, who was called on whenever the family was in need. She came along with her sister and other valkyries on horses with bows and arrows, sending hail towards their enemies.
Torgerd is interpreted as an ancient fertility spirit, and these spirits are also connected with a warrior aspect. They protected certain families and are some of the oldest creatures in the pre-Christian Norse religion.
The supernatural warrior spirits was a convenient excuse for why Svein Tjugeskjegg fled the battle; it was impossible to fight against gods and trolls. It also supported the savage ways of the pagan religion.
As Svein flees, he leaves the Joms Vikings behind to be captured by the Earls. They were about to be executed by beheading, but one of them managed to get a hold of the sword and chop the head off the man about to kill him. Eirik Håkonson is impressed by this and grants them their freedom.
#mythtalia march#hetalia#historical hetalia#aph norway#aph denmark#hws norway#hws denmark#again; any excuse to talk about Eirik Jarl - my fave historical person 🥰🥰🥰#more historical notes: the son Erling was probably older and fought along his family in the battle - not sacrificed for victory#and as most sources are mostly christian propaganda it is clear that the respect they had for the Earls of Lade is genuine#there are so many stories surrounding the Earls of Lade that show the quality of them - even though they were pagan#The Earls of Lade were based in Trondheim and mainly ruled over Trøndelag - but at this point they also had control over Norway as a whole#but it should be noted that “Norway” at this point /probably/ didn't include some parts around Oslo - we are not entirely certain here#not very pleased with how the drawings turned out - but I guess the story here is the most important part 😔😔

Watched the annual Sports Gala earlier tonight and got inspired by all the sparkly outfits ✨
#hetalia#aph norway#hws norway#idrettsgallan 2023#soooo happy to see more events like this being moved outside of Oslo 😩😩#Trondheim deserves more attention here - incredible to see so many famous athletes gathered under one roof#and other celebrities - Åge and Roar Strand handed out a price together!! 😭😭#and all the hype like “if it's one thing Trøndelag knows - it's to throw a party” etc. with the stereotypes#and the interviewer awkwardly singing “rai rai” - plsssss can we see somthing else - this is getting old#but overall an amazing event - Ramm did great as expected and the features were not too bad#really highlighted the “idrettsglede”/“joy of sport” and how important it is for the nation#the outfit I put Norway in is greatly inspired by Sissel Kyrkjebø's outfit during her performance of “Se Ilden Lyse” ✨

Some more of my Norwegian Regions based on a conversation I had with two of my friends.
(Trøndelag/Central Norway, Nord-Norge/Northern Norway, Østlandet/Eastern Norway)
#again idk what to tag this with because it's not het//alia but more similar to sta//tetalia??#tbh I have been working on these regional stereotypes for 10 years now#but they always change a little every time I draw them because I rarely do#also feel like Western and Eastern Norway should both be split in two with a southern and northern part#large differences there 🤔🤔#though I fear these regional stereotypes really won't make any sense to people who aren't norwegian 😅#trøndelag#nord-norge#østlandet#norwegian regions#hws norwegian regions#aph norwegian regions

Skotthyll - one of the "national sports" of my region in Norway. Thought to have been invented by Scottish engineers working on the rail road in the area in the 1800s.
It's one long "runway" where you stand in one end and try to hit three different sized wooden blocks with a discus object to get points.
