Gravity and levity, compression and tension When #walking - how much of our experience, which is mostly unconscious, is governed by the reflexes of the feet? And pronation and supination? How much of the experience is the appropriate movement and strength of the proverbial “core”?? Of course, my answer is both, but recently, I have been rechecking my beliefs, and realized I was overly foot focused. (Healthy foot and cranial fixations 😅) Reflexes of the feet are powerful and communicate a highway of information to the low back and then the brain. (shoes are sensory deprivation chambers) However, the feet are fascially connected to the cranium, and the entire body of course, and gait becomes a symphony of full body management of weight from one foot to the other. The ability to balance and gracefully transfer this weight is incredibly important. Otherwise, there’s a sense of falling from one foot to the other and that can create a sense of lack of safety and on down the rabbit hole we could go. #spiralengineoflocomotion #spiralengine #fiveprimarykineticchains #gaittraining #gaitanalysis #gait #walkingmeditation #walkingismytherapy #walkingisgood #fascia #fascialnet #fascialtraining #myofascial #deeplongitudinalsystem #adaptablepolarity #anatomyart #anatomyartwork #humananatomy #anatomyofgait #humananatomyart https://www.instagram.com/p/Co-Ojj-rCZL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“You can’t own movement until you own your breath.” @dna_assessment “First learn to breathe well. Then, remember to breathe often.” -my twist on Grey Cook’s first move well… I took my previous illustration here of the #deepfrontline of #fascia and slightly modified it for the first of the #fiveprimarykineticchains the breathing apparatus. (There’s no muscles below the pelvic bowl in comparison.) It is our first and last movement that goes in and out all day and everyday for what we define as our lives and quite possibly the most under utilized human body technology. #muscles #movement #breathing #breath #breathoflife #adaptablepolarity #inhale #exhale #breathingapparatus #fascia #fascial #fascialrelease #fascialtraining #fascialfitness #myofascialrelease #myofascia #myofascial #myofascialtherapy #kineticchain https://www.instagram.com/p/CkNwa5krzPU/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posterior (Spiral) Kinetic Chain Recently saw this portrayed as the posterior Functional Fascial Line from #anatomytrains, but now reviewing with the Kinetic Chain from @dna_assessment and the #fiveprimarykineticchains The dark muscles represent the subsystem and the lighter muscles are the prime movers. When I set out to illustrate these things, I do my best to let all previous knowledge rest aside, and see what unfolds. In school for architecture, we were taught to draw it to know it…as you can see, this lives on in me. There’s something special that comes from constructing these lines of connectivity. Yes, fascia is 3D and rather omnidirectional, but there are lines of weight and force distribution that we can highlight. Highlights here: -contralateral patterns of course, but how about that neck? -compare the arm and leg lines in this #movement …some interesting parallels, especially for me thinking of the deltoids as glutes. -the replication and reuse of calf muscles throughout many lines and spirals, but they’re not prime movers…but you watch heaps of people walk and their calves are the prime movers, ouch! -this is a superficial line, what happens when the core connectors get sleepy? I posted the deep longitudinal back line yesterday, think they might start to complain? #muscles #myofascialrelease #myofascialtherapy #myofascia #myofascialdecompression #fasciatraining #fasciarelease #fascialfitness #fascialstretchtherapy #fascialrelease #fascial #meridians #gait #gaitanalysis #anatomydrawing #anatomyart #Anatomy #humananatomydrawing #humananatomy #adaptablepolarity https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj-qYeqrkYl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Deep Longitudinal Kinetic Chain Marching right on through gait, once that leg swings through, it has to land. The deep longitudinal subsystem runs from the lateral foot and leg up the hamstrings, through sacrotuberous ligament to the contralateral erectors of the spine. These are depicted darker, and the prime movers are lighter in this image. It’s like looking at half of the #spiralline of #fascia, but we’re #movement focused. You know, you would think I would have thought of the polarity of gait before this moment, but each phase of gait pairs into positive/negative poles or yin and yang. Here we have the heel strike, yang, paired with shift, yin. They then transform respectively to suspension, yin, receiving weight and propulsion, yang, actively moving weight. To transition, yang, recovering from suspending weight and activating muscles to return to center, and finally paired with swing, yin, as it swings through space without any active participation with the ground. Just a thought 🤔 #muscles #subsystems #gait #gaitanalysis #humanarchitecture #tao #yinyang #yinandyang #adaptablepolarity #fiveprimarykineticchains #deeplongitudinalsystem #myofascial #myofascia #fascia #fascial #spirals #spiralengine https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj5148HJcEI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Understanding the lateral system “The default movement pattern vertebrates have employed is a side-to-side undulation. This inherited pattern of movement is still the core curriculum for human Locomotion.” -Dr Beach He goes on to call this a “Pisces inheritance,” and how the lateral eye and optic region are embedded in this lateral contractile field (aka side bending). Cranial muscles are most often appropriated into myofascial connectivity of the deep frontline or what we will see again in the Five Primary Kinetic Chains calls, the Intrinsic system. I like how #TCM lateral line goes onto the lateral cranium and lateral eye. What I do also really enjoy seeing here in this Spiral Engine of Locomotion is the included musculature that really highlights the zig zags of the Gallbladder meridian. In terms of movement, imagine a weakness or weak link in this chain as you balance on one foot. What may happen? #myofascia #kineticchain #movement #integrativemovement #movementislife❤️ #movementculture #movementismedicine #fascia #fiveprimarykineticchains #adaptablepolarity #fascia #lateralline #laterallines #sidebending #gait #gaitanalysis #anklesprain #anklesprainrehab #lateralsubsystem #spiralengine #spirals #locomotion https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj3MgpQJIC-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Spiraling on…posterior view of the spiral lines incorporating the arm lines. Extrapolated the arm lines for some isolation and consideration. Basically, Functional lines, connect to superficial arm lines, to the deep lines to end up at either the pinky finger or thumb. And then just overlayed with classic spiral lines… So once again, another path from contralateral pinky toe and big toe to contralateral pinky finger and thumb (previously explored how every digit connects) Interesting connections especially when we consider grip and all the importance of having grip strength. #muscles #movement #gripstrength #gripstrengthtraining #spirals #spiralline #spiralling #dna #doublehelix #fascia #myofascia #fascial #myofascial #myofascialtherapy #myofascialrelease #adaptablepolarity #anatomytrains #fiveprimarykineticchains #kineticchain #itsallconnected https://www.instagram.com/p/CjdG8rVrPKf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
