Bojan: would absolutely do both. Knows he looks good and definitely puts on a show. Squeezes out a few tears just to really get whoever is watching going. Might ask to be filmed initially as a joke ("take a picture, it'll take longer"), but it very quickly stops being a joke.

Nace: maybe an audio, if you're lucky. Would rather film his partner than himself, and if he's going to appear in the video, it's never his face. Very secretly has a fantasy of posting such a video - good luck dragging that out of him, though.

Kris: films and immediately deletes the video. A little too anxious to really be comfortable sending it anywhere. Gets off on the thought of what seeing a video like that of him would do to a partner. Filming his partner wouldn't do anything for him but he'd do it with the compromise that it either gets deleted or stored somewhere it cannot be hacked - maybe he has porn on DVD, but can you blame a man for being safe?

Jure: would do it as an artistic act, both alone and with a partner. He studied film! Multiple angles, soft lighting, close ups and everything. Would probably qualify as an arthouse film. Wants to rewatch it with his partner and comments it and what he likes about it even as his partner is sneaking their hands under his pants.

Jan: does it for the sake of experimenting, but doesn't feel any certain way about it. Much more of a fan audio aspect than visuals, but would do it for the enjoyment of his partner for sure, and he's pretty uninhibited about showing his face or any identifying mark.

💖 a moment of realization or heightened emotion emphasized by one character saying another's name in italics

💖 an MC whose childhood was shaped by a close relationship with a relative — most often a grandparent — who was their earliest form of acceptance before they lost them too young

💖 an ungodly word count per chapter

1. too much describing. for some reason my brain thinks there have to be sooo many sentences following dialogue that the conversation loses it’s focus.

2. not enough world building :/ it’s why i’ve given up on so many au’s, because i can’t build my own universe properly. (getting better at this though 🤞)

3. metaphors that may seem cool to me but are probably confusing to the reader.

4. evident character flaws. i personally see this as a good thing, but i do notice that my characters have a fluency to them that could have readers see them as toxic people 😬

5. angst!! lots of angst and feelingsss!

It's probably a bit sad that I can't think of 5 off the top of my head. But the quiet moments when there are no worries or things to do hiding on the back burner. When it's raining so heavily outside it feels like the safest warmest place on earth is your bed, and so you lay there with only that thought and feeling for a little while and it's enough. Enough to make the hard things worth it.

The word 'nixtamalization.' I just added completely unnecessary extra information to a post because it makes me happy to make those sounds.

The crocuses in my yard. There are stunningly rich purple ones that volunteered in the middle of the back path, and I planted a different kind of purple crocus between the huge pavers in my not-a-driveway patio out front. The patio is a complete mess of dead leaves and junk, but there are happy little purple guys poking out.

We had a jam session on Monday with a guy we see only once or twice a year; it was really fun, went all over the genre map, and for the first time ever I managed to sing harmony to something without painstakingly working it out in advance and drilling it! It was only like eight words, and they weren't all consecutive, but that's still a big deal for me!

Hummingbirds on the flowering red currant outside my back door. The male Anna's are in their courting clothes, with their ruby throats at their shiniest. And they frequently go 'beep' as they tuck into a flower.

5+1

A 5+1 fic is a variation of the five things structure. In this, 5 scenes (representing moments in the lives of characters, specific interactions, settings, etc...) match a certain structure or theme (or otherwise have matching elements), with the additional one contradicting, subverting or otherwise not fitting in with the themes/overarching elements of the first five.

Examples of this may be "5 times character A reached out to character B and 1 they didn't," "5 times character C spoke to character D about professional matters and 1 they had a personal conversation;" or "5 times character E hid their emotions and 1 time they broke down;" and so on. As long as 5 scenes share significant elements to be grouped together and one doesn't, it works.

As such, this prompt invites authors to follow more a specific structure rather than a given method of death. Characters who answered the phone five times but didn't once, characters who forced themselves to ask for help five times but one they didn't, characters who survived reckless actions five times but not the sixth... Anything goes. This is a chapter structure, not a death method. Happy writing.
