Man, I’ve been reading through the Commission Handbook, and while overall I think it’s just kinda neat, the few notes we get from Founder Five kind of break my heart. Some quotes from the Founder’s notes for those interested:

(Referring to a commission agent who keeps trying and failing to save her son using the briefcase) “She reminds me of how badly I want this crazy experiment to work. I want to go back desperately.”

“… Reading your thoughts on the Commission and our cutbacks has made me feel empty inside.”

“… I’m forced to consider if all of this energy, pain, and suffering is worth it. I’d like to think so, but currently the prognosis doesn’t look great. But you have my promise. As long as I breathe, I will keep fighting.”

(Referring to Five’s profile) “The way you write about this boy… or man, I’m not quite sure. It reminds me of someone I’ve lost… I think about the first time Five traveled through time. There he was, just a child, blessed with a power that was spellbinding. But when he used it, he was lost. Stranded in an apocalypse nowhere near his family.”

“If I’m being honest, I don’t remember my own name, it’s been too long. Now I’m the Founder, and that’s enough. Everything else has fallen by the wayside.”

Like damn, now I understand old man Founder Five we see in S3 who’s given up 😭

The person who wrote this book would’ve done a much better job at writing S4, this characterization of Five is much more accurate to the one we know and love lmao

Love how we were all preparing ourselves for a potentially bobby focused, potentially eddie-less episode and yet we actually got the conversation between Buck and Eddie we have been begging for?!? They talked about the shooting?!?

At around 1:55 minutes, you can hear "Roxys" voicelines from her fight with the Mimic.

Ive got some thoughts on this.

1. We can hear the Mimic starting to mimic Roxy with "Give up. You cant win" (i think, it sounds glitchy and a bit unlike Roxy. Like its still learning her voice.)

2. We can hear the moment Roxy realises she cant win this one. ("Oh, my!") Then afterwards, her sobbing and something that sounds like either "I... Cassie" (I'm sorry, Cassie.") Or, "I... lost." Its hard to tell, though the subs in the video go with the "I... lost" interpretation.

I dont think theres any isolated audio for the mimic available yet on youtube. (Though i found a video that contains in- game capture of their dialogue when theyre pretending to be Gregory way before the boss fight.) So maybe im wrong. But i think both of their lines were included in the fight scene dialogue.

Anyway, im still conflicted over who comes to get Cassie after the elevator ending.

The Mimic? Mimicking Roxy? That would explain why "Cassie" at the end of the credits sounds somewhat off. But it doesnt make sense? Shed be gravely injured- it could just kill her without the theatrics. And we know its is aiming to kill her- in the death screens, it looks likes its ripping her arms off to the side, before going for her head. And thats very in character for the Mimic.

I havent read the books, but heard some summaries. Off topic- but i am so glad that the death screens are ao bloodless, even when they imply gorey things are happening. Part of the reason I dont read the books is the gore (yeah, skill issue on my part.)

Roxy? I really want it to be Roxy, somehow still in one piece. But I doubt she got out of the Mimic fight with her limbs. Or even her head. If you brighten the cutscene all the way, its holding her head like theyre gonna snap it off. And she loses. Without seemingly doing any damage to the Mimic. My poor girl...

Anyway, i really hope Roxy did get out of there okay. That she finds Cassie, they get back to the surface. Cassies dad helps fix up Roxy with some new eyes. And Roxy has a (much more successful) second bout with the Mimic. Happy ending, best ending.
