This week I got a tattoo to commemorate F&F. The idea and concept design was courtesy of @liodain. My super awesome local queer tattoo artist did an amazing job elevating and infusing their personal style into it.
I've been passionate about tarot since my teens, and the Three of Swords is one of my favourite cards. Upright, it symbolizes heartbreak and emotional pain, which Gab and Hugo's relationship (and my personal life) has been full of. But reversed, which is what I see when I look at it, it symbolizes optimism and forgiveness—a release of the emotional pain from the upright reading. This too follows Gab and Hugo's arc and the narrative of my own life.
The swords, of course, are Gab and Hugo's individual weapons, and the lightning that has been so integral to their relationship with Xeheia and each other serves as the third sword. The interior of ocean waves and moon alludes to the sea they both love. I particularly love the black at the very bottom to represent the Depths and the shades of purple as a nod to Vidakai.
I've been deep in my Fourpio (Scorpio + enneagram 4) feelings as of late about art, the pieces of ourselves we put into it, and the ways it can lead to connections we couldn't have imagined in our wildest dreams. It was definitely one of my more emotional tattoos and I'm thrilled to have it.

First Costumer
Fandom: Peaky Blinders
Pairing: Arthur Shelby x female reader
Summary: you just got hired to do the job you always wanted and your first costumer, is no other but a Peaky Blinder
Word count: 2.1K
This is based on the moodboard below, made by my friend. You can find the original post here
A/N: I wrote this for @flowers-in-your-hayr 650 followers celebration. congratulations, love!! you're amazing, thank you for understanding my brazilian jokes lol and I hope you like this
TAG LIST: @sophieshelby ; @charmingvalkyrie ; @inglourious-imagines ; @fairyofvoid ; @locke-writes ; @regalbanshee ; @captainshazamerica ; @lotsoffandomrecs ; @flowers-in-your-hayr ; @too-spoopy-to-be-frukd
You heard the doorbell ring and the sound filled the bookshop. Finally, a costumer. Your very first costumer. How exciting!
You got down of the ladder you had previously climbed to fix some of the higher shelves and passed your hands through your brown simple dress, making sure it was proper and in order. Mr. Cuthbert had taken a long time to finally accept you as an employee in his establishment and now, you had to make him proud.
You had always loved books. Since you were just a little girl, you mother had given you novels to read and you grew up living in many different ones from the reality you actually found yourself in. Books were your passion, your refugee, your ideal spot. To be able to work around them and make people happy by buying books, well, it sounded like perfection!
The costumer took his time to walk through the shop, eyeing the shelves like they were unusual strangers in the street and then, he got to you at the back of the bookshop. Your first costumer was a man.
He was tall. Not too tall, but just enoguh to make him able to look at some of the upward shelves without having to raise his head too much. His skin was white, giving a nice contrast with the black coat he wore. He had a moustache and you could only see a few strings of his brown hair, due to the cap he wore.
Then, you realized. After taking notice of the cap, the fine clothing made sense. No ordinary man in Birmingham had such fine clothes to wear, especially not in the middle of the week, during the lunch break time of the factories. Oh no, that man absolutely did not work in a factory. That man was a Peaky Blinder. His only bosses were the Shelbys and the Shelbys only.
"May I help you, sir?" you asked him with a polite smile, pushing to the back of your mind the realization you had just come to. It didn't matter who he was outside Mr. Cuthbert's bookshop. He was a costumer. Who clearly, for the way his eyes were going from one shelf to the other, intended to buy a book.
He focused his eyes on you and you saw that his stare wasn't harsh or the one of a demon, as many people said the Peaky Blinders were. His eyes were kind, even though there was an agitation in them that you couldn't quite comprehend. Maybe not even he could. "Yes" he said simply and as you kept staring at him, waiting for further information, the man looked even a bit disconcerted, like he wasn't used to having such attention upon him. "It is my sister's birthday this week and Ada, well, she really likes books, has a great shelf of them at her house. So I thought it would be a good idea to you know, give her a new book as a gift"
You couldn't help but smile. That man, whomever he was, seemed so genuine in everything. You could see the care in his expression when he spoke of his sister. It was a nice thing to see. The stories you had heard about the Peaky Blinders seemed to be all wrong. He was a normal person. Not some crazy, openly violent man.
"Do you have any specific book in mind?" you asked him, hands joined in front of your body and excitement filling your body because that was apparently going to be a successful sell. The man just squeezed his lips on a thin line, eyes going to the floor as if he was embarrassed. It got to you. "Don't worry, I am sure we can work something out. What kind of books does she like?"
He watched as you moved around the place graciously. Clearly you knew every corner of that place, every shelf, every single book and where it was. You looked at a particular spot, frowned then moved on like there wasn't anything interesting for whatever you wanted him to take to Ada. "Well, she's a communist, so she does like politics"
"Very well" you walked towards the politics shelf, searched the titles, but nothing particularly got your attention or seemed fitting. You turned back to the man. "Does she like classics that have to do with politics?"
"I think so, what do you have?" he asked, seeming kinda excited for what you would come up with. He accompanied you as you went to shelf on the other side of the corridor and pulled out a book. "Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo. It's centered around the French Revolution"
The man looked down at the floor again as a quite nervous laugh escaped his mouth. "I don't think that is a good idea. France does not give my family the best memories, you see"
"You fought the war?" you asked, smile fading a bit because of the seriousness in his tone. Maybe that's where his agitation was from. Maybe, he never did get back from France at all. He only nodded in agreement, still not looking at you. "Thank you, for your service"
He gave out a little smile, but you knew by the way the corner of his lips didn't rise too much that he was anxious to change the subject. Honestly, see the obvious hurt in him made you want to change it either. "Alright, no France. What about Bram Stoker's Dracula?"
"Dracula?" he frowned, eyes meeting yours in utter confusion at such a strange name.
The fact that he didn't knew about it made you smile as you began to describe que novel's story to him with a mysterious tone in your voice to cause suspense. "It's about an old man, Count Dracula, who lives in a castle and feeds on the blood of young women to survive. Sometimes he kills them so they can join him in the after life and also drink blood from innocent people"
The man laughed due to your clearly forced misteirous tone and the way you raised your eyebrows at him while speaking, seeming to forget the previous sadness that had overwhelmed him with the memories of the war. You were glad for it. "That sounds bloody awful, love"
You could not help but also laugh, trying to ignore the heat that took a hold of your face when he apparently without thinking, called you love. "It is, actually" then you shrugged, passing your hand through the said novel's cover at the shelf. "But is a fine horror book" you crossed your arms over your chest and squeezed your eyes in his direction. "Be honest with me now, will your sister like this one?"
He squeezed his lips again, this time his features assumed a expression that clearly said 'sorry'. "I don't think so. Ada is a feminist. I think she would not like a story where a monster man kills women and faces no consequences"
"That is a very good point" you said with a sight and then turned around, biting your lower lip as you thought and thought about more options. The challenge on your very first sell was being quite exciting and you could say, interesting. Much of it of course, was because of that man. Suddenly, an idea popped into your head and you turned back to the Peaky Blinder with a smile. "What about On the Origin of Species? It's a book about pure knowledge, scientific one, about evolution. No France, no monster that slaughters women"
The man gave it a minute of thought and then returned your smile. "Knowledge and evolution. It does sounds like Ada" you both felt silent for a moment and then, he cleaned his throat and nodded towards the book you had just gotten into your hands. "I'll take it"
"Very well" you motioned for him to follow you and then made your way towards the back of the shop again, placing it in the cashier. "You want it wrapped up as a gift?" he quickly agreed and you raised two options of gift wrap in the air. A green and a blue one. He chose the green one. "You can also add a small card if you want"
"That is nice, thank you" he said and again, as you looked at him, the kindness in his eyes seemed to shine out from everything else.
You grabbed a gift card from the inside of a box where they were kept and placed a black pen upon it. "You can write it or if you want, I can write it for you"
"You should write it, I bet your handwriting is better than mine" he said and you chuckled, nodding as you agreed to his request.
"What do you want it to say?" you waited as he clearly thought about the question, looking unsure. With one of his hands, he took off his cap and then passed the other one through his hair. When he claned his throat, you were ready to start writing.
"Dear Ada, happy birthday" he looked at you as if that was it but then, seeing the expression on your face that clearly indicated you wished him to talk more, he thought for a second and then continued. " Since you like books so much, I hope you will like this one, that a very nice girl helped me pick" as you wrote with a smile on your face, you did your best not to raise your eyes to meet his. "I know I am not always a very good brother, but I love you. Happy birthday, Arthur"
"That was beautiful" you told him, letting go of the pen and starting to wrap up the gift carefully, slowly, in no rush to let the Peaky Blinder go away. Arthur. His name was Arthur. It was a beautiful name. Suited him just fine.
"Alright, then" his eyes went to the floor again, seeming now embarrassed because of your words.
You finished to wrap the gift in silence, then when it was done, you sighted and looked at the man. "If you want us to deliver the gift at your sister's house, in case you're busy, we have a delivery boy for such"
"That sounds good, I appreciate that" he replied.
You nodded in agreement and got a piece of paper, to then grab the pen again. "Can you tell me her adress, please?" he did so, and you wrote it down so the boy Mr. Cuthbert had hired a little while before you could do his part of the job later. "He is supposed to look for Ada...?" you left the question in the air, waiting for him to answer, eyes still on the paper.
"Ada Shelby"
Your eyes snapped up on the very same instant.
Shelby.
His sister was Ada Shelby.
He was Arthur Shelby.
"Something wrong, love?" he asked, and he didn't seem harsh like you expected him to, for the way you not in the slightly hid just how astonished you were to know his identity. His eyes were still kind, but a part of the previous sadness had come back.
"I'm sorry, that was rude of me" you wrote down Ada Shelby and then left the paper upon the gift, at the corner of the cashier.
"I'm used to that kind of reaction by now" he said with a nervous laugh, that carried absolutely no humor at all in it. Even if he was indeed used to the said kind of reaction, he clearly did not like it. You felt guilt consume you. "How much do I owe you?"
You told him the price, still lost in your thoughts and cursing yourself for being so stupid and rude. So rude. He gave you the money, you placed it in the due place. "Have a nice day" he told you and then turned around to leave, placing his cap back in his head and then his hands went to the pockets of his clothes.
You watched him leaving with a intense feeling of exasperation, tried to think fastly enough to say something and then before you could even really process what you were actually going to do, the words left your mouth. "Mr. Shelby?" he turned back around as he heard you calling, a bit of gentleness in his features. "If you ever need to buy another book, I am sure I can help you find something good"
His lips curled up in a smile, a pure one. A bit of the guilt you felt left your body like he had just taken it completely away, just by smiling again. "I'll remember that, love"
And then, Arthur Shelby left the bookshop.

1/14/21: therapies
Happy first birthday today, Hugo!!
One particular 2020 isolation compensation for us has been Cindy’s regular remote therapy sessions, usually three a week for the last six months or so. It’s a relief to turn her care, even partially, over to experts, though working remotely means I have to be more involved than I might wish. Yes, I’m paying them, but our greetings to start sessions are genuine and the delight in seeing each others’ faces and smiles on screens is real. They’re isolated too, and two of four live alone. Most weeks C has two exercise/PT sessions. They are different enough for some variety but similar in focus. One is with a movement/yoga teacher, the other with one of two physical therapists she’s worked with at Community Rehab clinic in Watertown. The 1st via facetime. The 2nd, zoom. She also has a Speech and Language/Cognitive therapy hour. Sometimes different remote platforms for that.
I’ve juggled schedules back and forth to try to find the best work times for C, physically and mentally. Or what usually is her best time; predicting what she’ll be like on any one specific day is impossible. Mid day is usually the sweet spot, not too early or too late. Too late and she has no energy. Too early and she may conk out way before her normal afternoon rest time afterwards. Here’s why that matters. Usually, I can manage her out-of-bed time to fit scheduled portions of the day, but just going with the flow or her whims (days when she wants to get up and out of bed early in the morning, say) hasn’t gone great for the rest of the day. If she’s up in her chair, she’s got about 4-5 hours of energy before getting pretty exhausted and needing a lie down rest. Sometimes she knows it, sometimes not. And I need a bit of late afternoon rest too, and I can’t do it if she isn’t resting first. Though she will tell me not to worry about her. She imagines she can manage more things than she can. So that, and whatever suddenly springs up, govern how the day is organized. We don’t need to be up and out for appointments often now, but needing to stay on a tight timetable can be easy or... not.
The sessions give shape to our weeks, gets us both some company, and relieve me of some pressure to get C exercise for body or mind. 1: they do it better. 2: I can’t turn my relationship with her that completely into a caretaker/patient one. I don’t want to and she resists attempts to regiment her too tightly. Not that she always makes responsible choices. Who does, you might think, but in her case the range of things she shouldn’t be trusted to handle on her own is larger than someone who hasn’t had a brain injury. Sudden impulses can surprise me. It’s tricky.
Remotely, I have to help more in sessions than I would with in person work, and that can cause friction. C is very jealous of her therapy time, and she tries to get me to butt out. But her sense of what she can do alone and what not is rather off pitch now. She wants always, for instance, to pull herself up at the walker on her own, and we’d be left for the whole session with her straining and not moving if we (PT and I) couldn’t cajole her into letting me help. Or she wants me to let go before she’s in a position to support herself for a few seconds. Of course, she also expects me to be behind her when she starts to fall back. As I said, tricky.
When I think back and compare what she can do now to last year, her accomplishments look more substantial than when I think of how it goes day to day or week to week. She’s had lots of great sessions, lousy sessions, and ones just good enough to get some work in. And it’s remarkable how many odd aches and pains and distractions arise at therapy time! I keep planning and hoping ahead, but it’s not easy to envision the kind of progress that will make a real difference in our lives. Still, maybe this work can be a base to jump ahead from when the world is semi normal and we get back to in person work. Well, it’s sometimes nice to think so. More specific detail on various therapy work in future posts.

Summary: Eggsy’s got a weakness - you. || Kingsman/Marvel au!crossover
Pairing: Eggsy Unwin x Reader, feat. Bucky Barnes
Warnings: Mentions of self-hatred, insecurity
Word Count: 2.7k [wow I am so sorry]
A/N: Inspired by Sebastian’s Hugo Boss campaign photos - Bucky Barnes and Eggsy Unwin together? Hell yeah. This is dedicated to my beloved soulmate Nicole. [@buckyywiththegoodhair] - happy birthday, again, my love. | masterlist
Insecurity is a sneaky bitch.
It builds up over time, carefully poisoning your most vulnerable areas. It takes root in your darkest places, encompassing everything you are as time moves forward. It hits hard at your lowest moments.
Insecurity is an autoimmune disease. It’s a part of you, and attacks you when you least expect it. When you least want it to.
Self-doubt is your worst nightmares brought to life, eating at you from the inside. A lonesome battle where only one will come out victorious. Most of the time, it isn’t you.
Eggsy was a bright, young man. One with the potential to exceed far beyond the expectations society and life had set for him. However, he never saw it.
His life had taught him that he was worth next to nothing; he would never amount to anything good because he just wasn’t...good. He was a lowlife; only made for crime and everything on the wrong side of the line.
Eggsy would have never imagined he’d end up where he found himself now. A Kingsman. A man. A friend. A lover. Happy.
He especially didn’t think he’d ever find someone like you. But he was damn glad he had.
After losing Harry, you became an essential part of Eggsy’s life, and he would be an idiot to ever let you go. You and Roxy were his best friends - the people who kept him grounded when his head went just a little higher than the clouds. But you - you were the one who reminded him of the good in the world; the good he was working to protect.
After the devastation of Kingsman, with the return of Harry and some help from the agents at Statesman, together you were all able to finally restart the program that had brought everything good into Eggsy’s life.
Opting to stay with the Statesman for a new kind of training, Roxy left a vacant spot in London. Agent Tequila decided he’d give the UK and Kingsman suits a try, as long as he could bring along a friend of his. Never one to say no, Eggsy agreed.
Merlin set up the room for the first meeting, while Harry prepared some martinis for the three of you.
“Excited to meet our new friends, Y/N?” Harry asked, his gaze concentrated on the drinks in front of him.
“I suppose. I hear Tequila’s friend is an undercover agent. Very mysterious, if you ask me.” You shrugged, resting your head on Eggsy’s shoulder as you yawned.
“Still sleepy, love?” Eggsy laughed as you nodded, your eyes fluttering shut as you leaned up against him.
“I blame you, Eggy.” You smiled at the image of him rolling his eyes as the nickname rolled off your tongue, and you felt the poke in your side that always accompanied said infamous eye roll.
“C’mon, drink up, you two. We have to be on time to greet our new agents.”
You all rose from your seats as Merlin opened the doors, ushering in Tequila and his friend. The men were suited up, looking like true Kingsman - minus the classy moves.
Harry was the first to greet them, getting wrapped up in a hug from Tequila as the mysterious man stood by the door, his hair falling across his face, as his gaze bored into the floor.
“What’s your name, mate?” Eggsy asked, raising an eyebrow as he passed by Tequila, you right on his tail.
The agent looked up, fidgeting with his tie for a moment as he cleared his throat.
“Agent Agave, at your service. Or James Barnes, if you want my real name.” He smiled, his eyes sparkling under the sunlight. Eggsy nodded, shaking his hand before moving to the side.
“Barnes, huh? The undercover agent, I presume?” You shake his hand, noting the roughness of his skin as his crystal blue eyes locked with your own. He smiled, nodding.
“Yeah. I’ve been working out of New York practically my whole life.”
“He’s a Brooklyn kid. Wouldn’t let us train him in Kentucky, so Whiskey took the training to him. Good man. He’ll fit right in here.” Tequila said, his hands tucked in his slacks’ pockets as he leaned against the wall.
“And what about you, Tequila? Will you fit right in?” Eggsy asked, slightly laughing as the Statesman blushed, jumbling up his answer.
“I’m - I’ll do my damn best to fit in, Galahad.”
“Wonderful. Galahad and Lamia will give you the personal tour. Merlin, weapons.” Everyone took up their respective posts; you and Eggsy lead the two men out into the corridor, while Merlin stayed behind with Harry.
“How are you liking the suits, gentlemen?” You chuckled quietly, noting the way Tequila fussed over his tie and the buttons of suit jacket, while Barnes seemed right at home.
“Fine, I guess. Not used to these damn things just yet,” Tequila muttered as he fixed his tie for the umpteenth time.
“Never thought I’d actually love wearing a suit as much as this one.” Barnes said, smiling as he adjusted his cufflinks. You laughed, turning to meet Eggsy’s gaze.
“Don’t worry - Galahad here was just like the lot of you. You’ll get used to it in no time.”
After a few short weeks of training, Tequila and Barnes were ready to take on their first mission as Kingsman. Following intel from Roxy and Whiskey back in the States, you, Eggsy, Tequila, and Barnes set out.
Merlin landed the jet in the outskirts of a small town in France, the forest providing perfect cover as you all moved into the area. You and Eggsy veered to the left, while Barnes and Tequila stayed on the right.
“Everyone doing alright?” Eggsy whispered into the comms.
“Just dandy. How are we doing this?” Tequila responded, a somewhat nervous edge to his tone.
“Don’t be scared, Tequila. It’s like any other mission you’ve been on - just Kingsman style, this time around. We’ll set off in our pairs; take out the guards at the front, and then split up to find the main office. Merlin will try to find it first, and then direct whoever’s closest to the source. Main priority is the intel; whoever gets it first will need cover. Understood?”
“Spoken like a true leader, Lamia.” Barnes voice sounded, and you smiled.
“Focus, men. We’re here.” Eggsy stated, his voice low as he moved behind you. You turned to look at him, extending a reassuring hand as he met your gaze.
“Ready, Eggy?”
“As long as I have you.”
The fighting was coming from every side, and you didn’t know how you always managed to get the worst hits. Eggsy was on your back, taking out shots from left and right, only to be sideswept by a guard behind him. You continued on forward, the umbrella providing perfect cover - unfortunately, only from the front. A guard trudged towards you from behind, his gun aimed right for your head. Barnes spotted him, knocking out the guard in front of him as he moved in on the threat.
He came up behind the guard, cocking his gun behind his head as he tripped him up with his foot. The guard turned to shoot him, but was knocked out before he got the chance. You heard a shot from behind, turning in time to catch a glimpse of Barnes reloading his weapon as a guard fell near you. You locked eyes with him, nodding as you mouthed a quick “thank you”, before moving on.
Eggsy watched the entire thing unfold before him, his eyes never leaving your moving figure. He watched as Barnes covered you, while he tried his best just to cover his own ass.
That should’ve been me. I should’ve had her back. Not him.
So much for being good at something.
As hard as he tried, he couldn’t shake these feelings of doubt consuming his every other thought. Eggsy had faith in you. He trusted you with his own life, for God’s sake. He had no reason to doubt you. However, he had every reason to doubt himself.
No matter what, you’ll never be good.
What happens when you fuck up, and she gets hurt? Or worse - what if she dies?
All your fault. Could never do anything right, could you?
Eggsy’s insecurity was trying to get the best of him, but he thought he could fight it, like the countless times before. Yet this time was different. This time, everything was tied to you.
You were everything Eggsy was not. You were better, in every sense of the word. How could he ever compare with the wonder that you were?
As the weeks went by, Eggsy tried brushing off every intrusive thought that came his way. Nevertheless, they persisted, over-clouding his mind. What Eggsy didn’t realize was that his actions were getting to you, too.
You were sitting in his office, talking with James over the newest training tactics Merlin was coming up with when Eggsy stopped by the door. He stayed aside, watching the pair of you.
“So, when did you join the agency, doll?” The pet name perked Eggsy’s attention, his gaze following yours as you smiled at him.
“I want to say it’s been a good three, four years. I would’ve left sometime in the past two years, if it weren’t for Eggsy. He’s the reason why I’m still hanging around the tailors.” You laughed, playing with your hair as James nodded.
“He’s a good guy, Galahad. Very lucky, too.” You both laughed, and Eggsy could tell you were flustered by Barnes’ words.
Everything good seems to leave you behind. Good riddance, if you ask me.
“Goddamn it, shut up” Eggsy muttered, clapping a hand over his mouth when he realized he had spoken aloud. Fortunately, neither you nor Barnes had heard him. Sadly, that meant you were too caught up in your conversation to notice him.
Eggsy knew he was better than this; he shouldn’t be letting these thoughts and futile emotions get to him. But he was subject to his insecurity, his mind running amuck with passing thoughts of hatred and doubt.
How could she ever love a useless idiot like you?
You’re nothing compared to him.
You’re nothing compared to her.
Y/N deserves better than you. Hell, Kingsman deserves better than you.
You’re nothing but a pathetic chav.
You found Eggsy in your shared bedroom, lying on the bed. His eyes were closed, his eyebrows creased as if he were thinking. You slipped off your shoes, trying your best to be quiet.
The mattress dipped under your weight as you made your way over to Eggsy. You rested a hand on his own, stirring him awake. His green eyes looked over at you, and you couldn’t help but think there was a dull shadow looming over them.
“You okay, Eggy?” Your voice was a soft whisper, your hand trailing up and down his arm as you sat up next to him. Eggsy feigns a weak smile, nodding as he looks up at the ceiling.
His heart was racing a mile a minute, and he was praying you wouldn’t hear it trying to beat its way out of his chest.
“Are you sure?” You know there’s something awry with him, but you also know it’s no good to push him to talk about something he’d rather forget. Eggsy could handle his feelings, but you always had to remind him you were there for him, through the good and the bad.
Eggsy nods again, his lips pursed as he silently curses himself for lying. He knows you want to help, and by God, does he want you to help, but he just can’t bring himself to say the words.
He’s ashamed. He doesn’t want you to think less of him because he’s fallen down a dark path. He knows you wouldn’t, but there’s still that agonizing voice in the back of his mind. The one reminding him that he is unworthy of you. Your love. Your everything.
“C’mere, bruv.” You lie down next to him, wrapping your arm around his chest, so he turns to face you. He seems reluctant at first, but slowly gives in as he moves in closer.
Once his face is buried in the crook of your neck, you stroke his back, planting small kisses on his hair and cheek. Eggsy moves to rest his head on your chest, your heartbeat luring him to sleep.
You refuse to let go for the rest of the night - you knew Eggsy needed this, even if he wouldn’t admit it.
He’s wide awake, his mind focused on your slow heartbeat and even breathing. He’s trying to ignore the insistent voices inside his head, but he can’t seem to push them away.
“I hope you know I’m here for you, Eggsy.” Your voice pulls him away from his thoughts, and he can’t help the fall of his heart at your words.
“Of course I know, love. Why do you say that?” He looks up at you, his hand’s grip tightening on your waist when you refuse to meet his gaze.
“There’s something wrong, and I don’t want to make you tell me, but I can’t handle just being here, helpless and hopeless.”
“I promise you, you have been nothing but helpful, darling. I’m so sorry I’ve made you feel like this; it’s all my fault, really.” Eggsy leans in, pressing his forehead against yours as he cups your cheek, stroking his thumb across your warm skin.
“Let me help, Eggy. I love you. Every single part of you. No matter what.” You kiss the tip of his nose, a sad smile pulling at your lips as you notice his own.
“I love you, baby. Nothing will ever change that.” Eggsy whispers back, his head dropping to your chest once more as he tries to collect his thoughts. You run your fingers through his hair, trying to soothe him as best you could.
After a few minutes of silence, he looks up at you, a different spark in his green eyes. You cup his cheek, patiently waiting for him to say what he wants.
“I’m scared, love.” His words make your heart drop, your mouth falling open as you look at him, speechless.
“I’m scared I’m not good enough for you, Y/N. I never really was ‘the good guy’, and I still feel like there’s a part of me that wants to give up. A part of me that’s looking for the easy way out, looking to fall back to my old life. And I don’t want that. That life was no good for me. I have you now, and you’re the best damn thing to ever happen to me. You reminded me what love is supposed to be like. And I can never thank you enough for that.” You smile at his words, fighting back the tears welling up in your eyes.
“I feel like you’re an angel on this Earth, and I’m just some wretch that’s ruining you. I know you don’t think that, but there’s a voice in my head that won’t shut up. I look at you and I cannot believe how lucky I am. You make me forget about the bad, because you’re the best of everything.” You nod your head, unable to find the right words to comfort Eggsy in the way you wanted to. You drag your thumb across his lips, and he kisses your skin, never once looking away from you. You sit like that for what seems to be an eternity.
“I don’t know what I did to deserve a man like you, Eggsy. I wish there was some way for me to shut that voice up, but I want you to remember that you don’t need to hide these feelings from me. I love you so much. I want to help you in any way I can; even if that means sitting here and holding you forever. I’ll do anything for you.” You know you’re crying when Eggsy presses light kisses to your cheeks, his thumbs wiping away the wet trails. His smile is genuine, even if it makes you feel a little sad.
You know this is a battle Eggsy must fight on his own, but there’s nothing that will stop you from staying by his side until the end.
Until he comes out triumphant.

I used to use this channel all the time to write about reece. The last time I posted was December 2018. It’s now January 2021.
The dates aren’t really important, but time has passed and a lots happened. I got over it. All of it. Every single bit. Reece is with someone else now and so am I. I’m happy. And I’m assuming he is too. That’s all over, it took me a while, long after I wrote that last post, to get over it. But I did. Hard. I never believed that I would but I did, but that’s not what brings me here today. All of that information would of been liberating in any other circumstance; finally beating the reason for content. Finally saying I don’t care about any of it anymore. Finally feeling free and at peace. It’s not that that isn’t true because it is, it’s just unfortunate that something came along and beat it.
This isn’t new. It hasn’t really just happened. But, it is worse now. I moved out a year ago. February 2020. I didn’t actively choose to move out, but I had no other choice if I wanted to be happy. I wouldn’t say I was attacked, but mark, the man who stole my belongings and has given nothing but abuse to me and my mother for nearly 9 years, put his hands on me. I don’t remember it much, adrenaline tends to wipe your memory, but I do remember my mother not trying to split us up, but pushing me off of him as if I was the assailant. As if, she was protecting him. My mum had been how she always was at around that time, mentally unstable. Like every year at christmas since 2011, she goes bipolar and hostile and abusive for around six months. I’d like to believe that’s why she did what she did; but I’m not all that sure anymore. Stephanie wasn’t there, but I phoned her crying and she panicked and called the police. They came, and my mum lied to them. I knew then things wouldn’t be the same, that it was different. I packed a lot of my belongings and left permenantly that night, Steph came and got me, we went to her sisters and that following Friday we arrived back there and packed up my room. My mum was hostile and abusive. Spent the entire time silently following us, not helping, not speaking directly to me and pretending I wasn’t there, and staring at us trying to intimidate us. It was so bad the taxi driver packed the boot quicker than usual because he sensed it. It was awful, I cried the entire way back. Stephanies mum took me in, gave me a set of keys and allowed me to live here.
I can’t remember what happened or how it did, but my mum and I gradually got back on track again, funnily enough round about spring time when she started getting better. I’d go up and visit her, but mark was still always there. I’d consciously decided that my mum would never be able to rid herself of him, she was too lonely and thought too poorly of herself. I knew that ultimatums weren’t going to work, the fact she’d still allowed him close to her and around her after what he did to me stung, and I spent a long time dealing with that turmoil. But I also learned that it wouldn’t ever be any different, and if I wanted to see my mum I’d have to just turn a blind eye to it. So I did. My mum was great, she wasn’t everything I wanted or needed her to be since I moved out; she never got me in anything I liked, food or juice or snacks, she couldn’t even cook me a dinner when I came up. I can count on one hand how many times she actually did. She could barely pry herself away from her soups when I was there, it hurt. But she’s my mum, right?
I started to let myself get sucked back in. I told myself if she did go unwell again at winter that it wouldn’t be half as bad because I didn’t live there. Time passed and it started to look as if she wasn’t even going to have an episode, then the day before my birthday she did. Things happened as you’d imagine; arguments, uncomfortableness and her erratic behaviour. What was new was the fact that I didn’t have anything to help me cope with it. Usually I’d just fall back on the fact I aggravated her. It wasn’t the best thing, but believing I was just rubbing her up the wrong way or annoying her too much made her abuse easier. Her shouting at me and treating me how she did was always horrific, but if I thought I was contributing I could at least use staying out of her way as something that could help me. I didn’t have any of that this time. I didn’t do anything. I witnessed her seek me out. She left me abusive voicemails and didn’t speak to me for five days because I didn’t have £10 to let her borrow for cigerettes. She borrowed £100 off of me and lost it the day she was paying me back, refused to give me the phone bill because she said she deposited it into my bank even though she doesn’t know my bank details, and has repeated it for the second month in a row. She also conjured up her own idea of depositing the money she owed me in my account and that I was to phone her that day and give her my bank details and talk her through it. The day came and instead she screamed at me and kept hanging up. I’ve blocked her number so voicemails will still come through, a few of her either manipulating me again because she needs something or telling me to stay away from her.
Getting a dog I’ve learned was the best and worst decision I made. The best because he lit up my entire life and the worst because my mum has managed to make him a liability due to ignoring the training, and allowed him to bark and disrupt the neighbours so much the landlord continuously badgers me about it. My mums been disruptive herself; causing noise and even taking a hammer to the floor to purposely wind them up. The landlord phoned me and said he was at wits end, and I begged and pleaded for him to give her another chance. I then diplomatically tried to talk my mum into being calmer, which she agreed to do. Turns out it didn’t work because today she phoned me and told me she has to leave, that she’s moving in with mark. She seemed to believe incorrectly that she had until March, but the landlord said she has until Friday. I had to go today with Steph and Hera and clear out my room. She’d let hugo pee all over my stuff, chew my shoes and DVD’s and a lot of things are missing. The disrespect is one thing, but her attitude is another. Even though our phone call was calm, normal and even pleasant, I even had a perfectly placid conversation when I first came into the house. But it changed. She stood staring at us, watched the dog hump Hera continuously and disrupt us, and when I asked her to help and reprimand him she started screaming at me. She then wouldn’t stop with the abuse, it got so bad Steph had to step in, and she still just tried to turn her against me. Calling me names and turning on the tears saying I beat her. I realise now why my aunt and uncle thought so little of me. But then again, she told me my uncle raped her so I’m sure it’s even on the scale of what she makes up about others.
My mum didn’t speak directly to me. She invited Hera in for water or tea or coffee, but not me. She stood in front of me and invited Steph out for a coffee soon, but said nothing to me. She spoke of me whilst I was there and hurled abuse at me, my own mother who’s suppose to be the one person on the earth to protect and look out for me, pretended not to even see me, didn’t care that my partner and friend were there to witness all the horrible things she said. Even though she knew today was going to be the last day she’d see me for a long time, and that she hadn’t seen me for five weeks, she didn’t even put her arms around me once. She barely even looked me in the eyes. She couldn’t even tell me she loved me, or ask anything about my life. I’ve been through a lot with my mum in the past 10 years, it’s been a rough road. But today, today I can honestly say felt the worst out of all of it. I still have feelings, things still sting, and despite how much I tell myself it won’t happen again, my heart still gets broken by her. It got broken when she packed her stuff in black bags and wouldn’t tell me if she was moving out, it got broken when she kept telling me she was moving to Ireland when I was only 17, it got broken all the times she said she was ashamed to call me her daughter, that I was just like my dad, that I was fat, when she called me spoiled and a bitch and whenever she sees fit to scream at me and ignore me for no reason. But today really did break my heart again, and I truly didn’t think it was possible. I phoned my mum not but 3 days ago, crying to her because I’d quit my job and I was scared. This was the first time I’d attempted to contact her since she screamed at me when I asked about her transferring the money into my bank and that had been 4 days before it. I told her why I phoned, and the reason I did is the reason why my hearts broken now, because I miss her and I need my mum. If I had a genie I’d wish for my regular mum so hard, just so I could hear her tell me everything was going to be okay. That I’m strong and clever, that I’ll make it, that she’s been there, and that I’m capable of doing good things. But today for no reason, instead, she told me never to contact her again. So I’ll never be able to ever feel okay phoning my mum again when I’ve had a hard day. I’ll never again get the luxury of phoning my mum when things are tough and hearing her tell me everything will be okay. It’ll never be the same again. She’s ruined it, and I don’t understand why.
My mum saw fit to go out of her way to not speak to me today, but felt it appropriate to leave me a voicemail asking me to get the landlord to contact her because she needs the number for a homeless shelter. Of course there’s a part of me that is worried she’ll need to be in one of those places, the thought alone breaks my heart, but not enough for me to offer this space. But I know she only left that voicemail to make me feel guilty and sorry for her. She didn’t need to say why she needed to speak to the landlord, but she did because she knew it would play on my heartstrings, she knew it could make me feel bad enough I’d give in and phone her back, but I won’t and I didn’t. I lived on egg shells before, but if I’ve learned anything in the past year it’s that there’s nothing I could ever do to avoid my mums wrath on me. I said nothing, did nothing and behaved like a reasonable adult and I am still her enemy now and the worst person to have ever lived. So why be scared to ignore her phone calls and voicemails? Because she’ll send more? She has already. Because she won’t talk to me? She already said she isn’t. Because she’ll disown me and try cut me out of her life? She is actively trying and telling me so. I did what I could to try and avoid the pain and it didn’t work. It’ll always be there. Not having enough money to lend her is grounds enough for abusive text messages and her screaming at me to “shove it up my arse.” So I might as well do what’s right for me now, I’ll get it horrific regardless.
The landlord then texted me, not but at half 6 in the morning, asking me what type of breed my dog is in case “anyone is looking for one” because my mums incapable of looking after him. I told him I’d take him ASAP, it’s just not possible right now. The panic that coursed through me, the stress that I feel, the pain in my stomach and all I want to do is phone my mum and tell her all my problems and have her cradle me. It’s my own fault. It is. I know my mum. I know her patterns, I can tell by one word that she’ll go unwell, I know her better than she does. So it is on me that I had a moment of weakness and put too much into it. It’s hard to believe that not yesterday but the day before my mum was on the phone telling me I was everything great in the world, that she’s so proud of me, that she couldn’t wait to see me and that we were gonna get high and have a laugh. And I cried and let myself feel the comfort from it, when I should have never of allowed it. My mums gone. She probably doesn’t even remember that conversation, and truth be told I don’t know if she’ll come back this time. I don’t know what will happen.
The thought of leaving my dog with them makes me sick. I don’t even know how I’ll get him back. I’ve not slept and it’s 8 am. My heads going 100 miles an hour and I can’t get it to slow down. So yeah, I’d take the pain I felt over reece over this any day.

No One Told You Life Was Gonna Be This Way
Kabby social media AU, 3200 words, T
did u know that 1. it is @kane-and-griffin‘s birthday 2. she accidentally went viral for ranting about Friends and 3. once I start thinking about how A Thing (random example: Marcus Kane writing viral Friends tweets) would go down I cannot stop until I just write the thing
anyway happy birthday claire!!
Marcus Kane is, unfortunately, very familiar with the Nice Guy phenomenon.
It's an occupational hazard of writing science fiction, especially in the internet age; all he has to do is look for his most obnoxious fans, and he finds an unfortunately loud contingent of entitled mostly white men who believe that the world owes them women and happiness without any effort on their parts. It's something he tries to combat as much as possible, wherever he can, and he knows it works in some cases. For every reader who's turned against him for being an SJW cuck (whatever that means), he has another who's expressed appreciation for his opening them up to perspectives they hadn't considered and broadened their empathy and understanding.
That's what sci-fi should do, as far as Marcus is concerned. The heart of science fiction is acceptance and unity.
Which is why he tells Bellamy, "I need you to do one of those Twitter threads for me."
"For what?" Bellamy asks, wary. As Marcus's assistant, he seems to think his most important duty is talking Marcus out of interacting with social media. And he may be right.
"Ross Gellar."
It takes him a second. "The guy from Friends?" he finally asks.
"Yes. I want to explain to my followers why he's bad romantic lead and role model."
To his shock, the response is instant. "Okay."
"No arguments? No lecture on how that isn't what Twitter is for?"
"No, fuck Ross," he says. "What do you want to say? I'll make it happen."
Marcus clucks his tongue. "I'll write up a statement."
* Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Last week, while ill, I watched Friends on Netflix for the first time. So, a thread on friendship, romance, Joey Tribiani, and Ross Gellar.
O @o-so-cool reblogged Sometimes my brother's boss is pretty okay.
raven @queenreyesthefirst reblogged brb adding @kanemarcus to non-sucky white dude sci-fi authors and shipping him with @scalzi
Finn Collins @finnishfirst reblogged this is kind of interesting but way too hard on ross. he does a lot of good things! see thread
Bellamy @bradburybell reblogged this is not nearly hard enough on ross
Clarke Griffin @clarkegriffin reblogged Relevant to your interests @ark-abby

"So here's what I think happened," says Bellamy. He's brought Marcus a coffee without being prompted, so whatever it is must be bad.
Marcus takes a sip of the drink. "When?"
"With your Twitter rant."
"Ah. I assume there are a lot of protests from the louder, stupider portion of my fanbase about how I've allowed the liberal fake media destroy my mind and masculinity?"
"Yeah, there are some of those. But, uh--it went way past your fanbase."
"Excuse me?"
"This is your most retweeted post ever. Not even close. It's viral. You've got people fighting you, people telling you it's a revelation, and about a thousand new followers already. In the last day."
He frowns. "Is Friends really still that popular?"
"Apparently." He shrugs. "Clarke says you made Buzzfeed and a couple of the other aggregator sites too. She and Raven have been texting me updates. They think it's hilarious."
"What does that mean?"
"Honestly? I don't fucking know. I told you when you hired me I'm not actually good at this stuff. I tried to warn you."
"You did." He takes another sip of coffee. "So, what do you think happened?"
"My sister retweeted it, and she spends about ninety percent of her time thinking about her social media brand, so she's got a ton of followers. Then Raven picked it up from her, her tech friends got a hold of it, and after that--" He shrugs. "You got out of your niche and into broader Twitter, and I'm not going to be able to find anything useful in your notifications for weeks. It's all Ross/Joey shipping discourse. Clarke's words, not mine," he adds.
"Should I be concerned?"
"I don't know. I guess we'll find out if it actually sells more books. And Clarke thinks we should try to leverage it into more publicity, she's got an idea for that."
Marcus hasn't actually met most of Bellamy's friends, but he references them enough that he knows who they are. Octavia, sister, Raven, ex-girlfriend, Clarke, current girlfriend. He also knows that all of them are more familiar with social media than Bellamy is, so he's not surprised that he consulted them.
Mostly, though, he still can't believe anyone really cares about this.
"An idea to leverage the Friends discourse?"
Bellamy shrugs. "Apparently this fit into an ongoing conversation she's been having with her mother. Abby Griffin? She writes for Ark AV. She did that think-piece about what mainstream science fiction gets wrong about female characters."
"Ah," says Marcus. He remembers the article, which had been harsh but ultimately fair, and an interesting take, once he'd gotten over the initial hurt of being used in a not entirely positive light. "I didn't know that was Clarke's mother."
"Yeah, I figured I'd tell you later. Once I didn't think you were going to call her up and argue with her about how much better you've gotten."
"And now you don't think I will?"
"Honestly, I don't care. I just want to see you guys fight about Friends," he says. "That sounds awesome."
"So, you have no ulterior motives here. Just looking out for my best interests."
"Obviously."
"If she's Clarke's mother, I assume she's local? Or will I be fighting her on a podcast?"
"We were thinking Starbucks on Saturday. Caffeine and lots of witnesses."
Marcus finally lets himself open up Twitter, now that he's had enough coffee. He almost always has some notifications when he looks; he's a public figure with a passionate fanbase, he's used to people trying to talk to him on Twitter. That's why he has a Twitter in the first place. But the number of notifications has never been so high, not in his memory. And, as Bellamy said, it really is a lot of passionate Friends discourse, both for and against his opinions. It's an overwhelming amount of love, hate, and passion. Like discovering an entirely new world.
He thought he understood fandom, but apparently he has a long way to go.
"Starbucks would be fine," he tells Bellamy, a little faintly. "I'd enjoy that."
*
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus A lot of new followers today. Here are a few notes for you:
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus I am a published science fiction author. Those of you telling me to just write a book instead of many tweets, I have written many books.
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus You can find the link to purchase them in my header.
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus I have never claimed to be an expert on Friends. This was my first time watching, and these are my impressions based on one viewing.
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus My opinion on the Friends canon does not invalidate yours. Yours is as valid as it ever was. But if you feel threatened, examine that.
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus My ideas may have merit you're reluctant to fully accept because of your own perceptions of how things should be in relationships.
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus If you followed me for more Friends content, please be aware this is an outlier. I usually talk about science fiction.
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus On that note, would anyone like to discuss the Hugo Awards?
Masper @gogglesdonothing Replying to @kanemarcus ross/rachel is forever tho
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus and @gogglesdonothing I'll take that as a no.
Jonty @themediumgreen Replying to @kanemarcus and @gogglesdonothing I'm so sorry Mr. Kane just ignore him I want to talk about the Hugos tell me all your favorite winners do you like Chuck Tingle
Jonty @themediumgreen Replying to @gogglesdonothing I CAN'T TAKE YOU ANYWHERE
*
Marcus will admit he does not feel broadly prepared to seriously enter the Friends discourse. He is, after all, a neophyte. If there are scholarly works on Friends, he has not read them. If there's any academic discussion of these issues, he is not familiar with it. His knowledge is vague and still forming, but for some people, this show was a huge part of their development. It matters to them on a deep, personal level.
For him, it was a decent use of his time while he was sick and confined to his couch. He had a fever for most of the first season. He's not sure he's prepared to fight anyone about it. Based on his mentions, he has many, many fewer horses in this race than other people. But maybe that's a good thing. Maybe his perspective as an outsider is valuable.
Or maybe he just wants the chance to sit down with Abby Griffin. Because instead of spending the past week either working on his next book or even familiarizing himself with Friends and the criticism surrounding it, he's mostly been researching Abby Griffin herself. He'd done it some after the first article Bellamy sent, curious to see her other work, but he'd been busy with a deadline and hadn't really had much time for that, had barely scratched the surface of this woman.
He doesn't have time for it now either, of course, but it's at least relevant to something in his life. And, as Bellamy and his friends have pointed out, this is at least good publicity. It's not a complete waste of time.
The Abby Griffin stalking might be a waste, but he can't help it. She's interesting. The pop-culture writing is, apparently, a side job, something she never intended to get seriously involved in. The website had been her husband's, and when he passed away, Abby and Clarke had taken over its upkeep, and Abby had started producing content when she had time. Given her full-time job is as the director of internal medicine at the hospital, he's frankly amazed she has as much time for content as she does.
And it's good content. She and Clarke have a weekly column where they discuss a movie they went to see together, and the female characters in science fiction piece was apparently part of a series. Her taste is good and her opinions are interesting, and by the time he's meeting her, he has one big question, and one only.
They get through introductions and are settled in at the table before he finally lets it out. "Honestly, I don't understand how you can like Ross."
She lets out a surprised laugh. "Excuse me?"
"Bellamy said he was looking forward to us fighting over Friends, but I have trouble believing you disagree with my opinion of Ross. I don't know what we'd be fighting about."
She smiles into her mug. He'd known she was beautiful from the picture he found on the hospital website, but it's different to see in person, and more awkward. Bellamy and Clarke are hanging out at their own table, pretending not to eavesdrop; it's not an ideal time to be caught staring. "I don't know what he told you, but I didn't disagree. It was an impressive rant. Well reasoned and accurate. I was more interested in discussing why you posted it and the reactions you got. I saw it wasn't popular among some of your readers."
"To say the least."
"One of the things I've been curious about since getting involved in online fandom is what counts as acceptable ways to interact, especially for those of us over thirty or so. I saw a lot of people asking why a heterosexual man in his late forties would care this much about Friends at all. As if that was the problem."
"Judging from the angry responses, plenty of heterosexual men are very invested in Friends. Although I'm not sure how old they are," he grants.
"Age is the biggest issue, in my experience. You'd been participating in an acceptable way, as a creator, but once you show yourself to be invested in Friends shipping--"
"I stepped into the wrong part of fandom."
"That's my thesis, yes."
He considers. "Am I on the record?"
"I'm not a reporter, Marcus," she says, sounding amused. "I'm not trying to trick you into saying something I can use against you. But if you'd like to officially be off the record, we can say that you are."
"My hope with that post was that it would make some of my readers rethink their attitudes towards women and romance. The number of responses I got to Valena's story in Bright Sky Morning that boiled down to her being wrong for not returning Pavel's feelings even though he'd been so devoted to her was--staggering. And depressing."
"Did your female readers appreciate it?"
"They did. Apparently Jin was a much more appealing partner."
Abby smiles. "I certainly thought so."
It's not his first time meeting a fan, of course, and she might not even be a fan, in the sense they're talking about. But she's read his work and has opinions on it, and that's always a little bit flattering. Especially when they align with his. "I'm glad. I was hoping he would be." He clears his throat. "So, you'd like to talk to me as a forty-eight-year-old man who publicly had opinions on shipping."
"And to get your thoughts on Monica and Chandler," she says, all innocence. "If you don't mind."
He can't help smiling himself. "Not at all. I'm all yours."

Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Expanded my horizons this weekend with the High School Musical trilogy. A curious cultural phenomenon.
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus I appreciated that Troy and Gabriela didn't go to the same college, but still stayed in the same general area.
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus I still don't think the couple has much of a future, but in an unrealistic movie, I appreciated that nod to practicality.
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus Very disappointed about the last-minute attempt to cement Ryan's heterosexuality. Let children have LGBT role models.
Murphy @firstnameredacted Replying to @kanemarcus If you're seriously going to be talking about Disney movies from now on I'm unfollowing you, I don't give a shit about this
Marcus Kane @kanemarcus Replying to @kanemarcus and @firstnameredacted Please do.
*
"Look," says Bellamy, two months after the first Friends rant, "I'm not going to pretend I'm good with crushes, but it would be a lot easier to just ask Abby if she wants to get dinner off the record instead of coming up with new weird shit to have opinions about on Twitter every week."
"I assume the timing of this isn't a coincidence," Marcus says. He was just getting his coat on to go meet her.
"You've already got a standing coffee date. Turn it into a real date. I'm begging you."
"You don't enjoy my opinions on the High School Musical series?"
"I actually do, I'm just getting tired of blocking people. Also, I don't know if you're aware, but dating is awesome. You should try it."
"I appreciate your concern. You don't think it would be weird for you if your boss was dating your girlfriend's mother?"
"No weirder than whatever's actually happening right now. And don't even try to tell me you're not asking her out because you're worried about how it would affect me."
It does sound absurd, when he puts it like that. "No. That wasn't a major factor."
Bellamy rolls his eyes. "Just ask if she wants to come check out the Descendants franchise with you next weekend. Definitely a solid pickup line. Chicks dig it."
"The what?"
"It's like the spiritual successor to High School Musical. I'll send you a link. You should know this stuff if you're really going in on this."
"I should give you a raise."
"That too. Say hi to Abby for me."
It's not entirely accurate to say that he thinks about what Bellamy said as he walks over to his weekly meeting with Abby. Every time he walks to her favorite coffee shop near the hospital, he's thinking these same kinds of thoughts, so it's not really Bellamy's fault. He enjoys Abby's company company and would be happy to see more of her. He already knew that. But it's been a long time since he navigated anything like this.
If only Friends had prepared him for this kind of romance.
"Marcus," says Abby, giving him a smile when he sits down across from her. As usual, she's surrounded by papers, and he sometimes doubts that she'd even have time for a relationship. She does keep herself busy. "I enjoyed your meditations on High School Musical."
"I'm glad to hear it. Bellamy says it gave me a net loss of followers, but not as much of one as he thinks I deserved."
"I'm not surprised." She considers him. "I didn't mean for our friendship to hurt your career."
"I don't think it is. Plenty of people just read my books and never even find out I'm on Twitter. It's not a large percentage of sales. You're blaming yourself for the High School Musical tweets?" he adds, curious. They are her fault, broadly speaking, but he wasn't sure she knew.
"If you don't keep coming up with hot takes, we don't have much to talk about."
He laughs. "I hope we'd come up with something."
"I hope so too."
The conversation lags, but it's not a bad lag. It feels like she's given him an opening, and it's his job to figure out how to take advantage of it.
The easiest way would be to simply propose a dinner date, as Bellamy suggested. But he's never been good at simple.
"You know, you never told me your favorite relationship on Friends."
"I didn't?"
"No, we usually talk about my opinions."
She levels her gaze at him, considering. "Do you know what I think when I watch Friends now?"
"No."
"They're all so young. And don't get me wrong, I met my husband when we were young, and the two of us were happy, but--sometimes it worries me how much emphasis we put on meeting people early in life. The younger you are, the more romantic it is. And that's one kind of romance, but it's not everything. It makes me want to shake all these kids and tell them that life doesn't end at thirty, or forty, or fifty. You'll keep on meeting new people, and you can still be happy."
He lets himself reach for her hand, and relief floods him when she lets him take it, even turns it over so she can squeeze his fingers. "So your favorite relationship on Friends is the one Rachel has when she's forty-five and Ross is dead?" he teases.
"I hope you're not comparing my husband to Ross."
He has to laugh. "No. I would never."
Abby's smile is warm, and it's suddenly so easy to not be nervous at all. "Good. Because the rest of that was right."
"Good," he agrees. "I was hoping you'd say that."

Warning: None
Once Min got finished changing she excitedly ran out of the bathroom seeing Sebastian lay on her hotel bed waiting for her.
“Ready?” He said sitting up smiling at her.
“Yes! I miss you the last month, it's not the same without you.” Min said slipping on her nike shoes.
“I miss you too Princess, come on New York awaits before you fly back to Korea in a week and start promoting again.”
“Oh jeez don’t remind me, I am officially on Vacation mode.” Min said as they leave her hotel room.
“Come here, it's going to be cold, it’s December after all.” Sebastian said fixing her scarf making her giggle.
“Did you forget I live in Korea for the past few years and it snows there.” She said hooking her arm with his as they walk down the night streets of New York seeing all the Christmas decorations.
“Yeah I kind of forgot that a little.” He said chuckling seeing the smoke coming out of his mouth.
“Is the Rockefeller Christmas tree close by? I really want to take some pictures there before I leave.” Min asked excitedly.
“Its within walking distance, we could go after dinner.”
“Okay, what did you have in mind?”
“Pizza?” Both said at the same time as they both starts to laugh.
“Pizza it is, New York is known for their pizza anyways.” Sebastian said as the walk to the Pizza place that was known for their food.
Once they both settled into the booth and started eating, Min moaned at how good the pizza is.
“Dam I am going to miss food like this when I go back to korea.” She said stuffing her face.
“Oh yeah you said you guys have different food standards over there.” Sebastian said eating his pizza.
“Yeah, even McDonald taste different. How do you think we get to stay skinny?” She said jokingly.
“You mean borderline anorexic.”
“True the korean girls are pretty skinny there, and the idol world is worst. We got to stay within a weight frame. I am happy my entertainment allows my group to be more on the fit aspect then skinny, thats Tiffany group image. Since my group is a mixed race group its alot easier.”
“Do you ever plan to move back to America?” Sebastian asked out of nowhere making Min stop midbite to think.
“To be honest. I really do not know. I am still in contract with my entertainment for the next 3 and a half years, but if the Marvel movies go well I might move back here. Why?” She said
“I am just curious, you seem to enjoy America a lot but your on the other side of the world. What made you go over there anyways? I don’t think I ever asked, all I remember is you telling me is you are from San Francisco.”
“Blame Tiffany, she influenced me since I was little to like everything Korean and her family accepted me as their own so it was natural that we both audition together. And somehow we both got accepted together. To be honest though I am happy we weren’t in the same group though. Her group is too strict for me. But hey if Tiffany didn’t influence me I would have never auditioned for Marvel and get casted as Linda which leads to meeting you.” She said proudly.
“Weren’t your family sad when you left?” Sebastian asked making Min choke on her food causing him to jump up to help her before handing her water.
“Are you okay?” Sebastian asked trying hard not to laugh.
“Yeah, let's go see the Tree, I am excited.” She said changing the subject standing up but Sebastian stops her.
“Min whats wrong?”
“Nothing come on let's go.” She said with a sad look on her face trying to stand up again
The moment they walked to the Rockefeller Tree Min was staring at it in awe but Sebastian can’t seem to shake the sad feeling he was getting from her before he heard sniffing, turning to see Min trying to discreetly wipe her tears.
“Princess what’s wrong?” Sebastian asked stopping in front of her placing both hands on her shoulders seeing her shake her head refusing to look up. “Princess?”
“Sebastian please let it go.” Min said finally looking up at him with such a painful look on her face making his heart clench before pulling her into a hug.
“I am sorry, I shouldn’t have said anything.”
“No it’s not you, you didn’t know.” She said.
“Do you want to tell me?”
“Lets just say, I don’t have a family.” She said quietly crying into his chest.
“That’s not true. You know why?” Sebastian said pushing her arm length to look at her face still holding her making her look up at him shaking her head.
“You have us now, me, Chris, Tiffany, and your kpop crew. We are your family okay? Don’t forget that.” Sebastian said wiping away her tears placing a kiss on her forehead.
“Come on, I know a place with really good hot chocolate then I can teach you how to Ice Skate.” Sebastian said grabbing her hand and walking away to the hot chocolate stand making Min giggle sadly.
“How are you so sure I don’t know how to Ice Skate?” Min joked following him to the hot chocolate stand.
“I don’t, just hoping so I can be a badass on the rink.”
“Pft, you wish. Just to let you know I am actually a pro at Ice Skating, I use to do compe….” Min started but stopped not wanting to go deep into the subject.
“A pro huh? Then you gotta show me then.” Sebastian said after catching her stopping herself from finishing the sentence and decided not to talk about it.
The pair had lots of fun the next few days going Ice Skating (which she schooled him), clubbing and ate lots of food while having movie marathons. But the week passed by way to quickly for their likings the next thing they know it he was dropping her off at the airport.
“Well I am going to miss having you with me.” Sebastian said hugging her.
“I know I am going to miss you like crazy too, but hey you could always watch my performance on Youtube. The next few months will fly by really quickly, the next thing we know it will be the movie’s press tour and premiere watch.”
“True and you will be filming again after that.” Sebastian said looking at her.
“Mmhmm, I honestly can’t wait to meet RDJ and Scarlett. God dam my woman crush on her is strong.” Min said day dreaming of Scarlett making Sebastian laugh as he nudges her head playfully.
“You are something else I swear. It's almost time for your flight princess.” Sebastian said looking at his watch that Min had gifted him for his birthday.
“Oh before I forget I got something for you for Christmas.” Sebastian said pulling out a box from his pocket.
“Hey unfair, you said no presents…” Min said pouting.
“Yeah you can’t give me a present because your crazy ass spent over 4 grand on this watch for me.” He said waving the watch in her face making her giggle.
“Hey you deserve it.” She said sticking her tongue out.
“Uh huh, don’t open it until you get situated on the plane okay?” Sebastian said
“Fine fine. I’ll see you in a few months, Sebastian, I am going to miss our piggyback rides.” Min said pulling him into a hug.
“Uh huh, I am going to miss you too.” He said placing a kiss on her forehead making her giggle before she let him go walking over to security check. Sebastian stood there watching her until she passes through Security and she turns back and waves at him.
“BTW I lied, I hid your Christmas present in your kitchen. Have fun looking for it, message me when you find it.” Min said loudly giving him 2 thumbs up making the other passenger laugh at her as Sebastian stood there in shock before laughing.
“You are something else Princess.” He replied shaking his head at her.
“Ehh, bye Sebby.” She said shrugging her shoulders cutely before blowing him an air kiss.
Once Min got settled into her first class flight seat she pulled out Sebastian gift to her for Christmas, when she opened it she gasped seeing a beautiful Sapphire Key Necklace.
Meanwhile Sebastian had got home and started to look around his kitchen only to find his gift hidden behind her Captain Crunch cereal she’s been eating at his apartment making him chuckle. Once he opened it he finds a Hugo Boss Trifold Wallet.
Ding.
Sebby (>^-^)>
Found it. You are a dork princess. Thank you.
MinniePrincess ^.^
I am glad you found it, took you long enough.
And thank you for this beauty
Min texted as she sends a picture of herself wearing the necklace to him.
True to word the pair had kept up communications at least once a week. The moment Min landed back in korea her schedule has been through the roof preparing for the end of the year MAMA performance plus multiple comeback performances. Min been religiously wearing the necklace that Sebastian had given her unless she was on stage and it clashed with her outfit which rarely happens.
During February on Min birthday pictures floated around the internet of her holding hands and being very cozy with her SHinee's Jonghyun and their entertainment released an official statement confirming the relationship before Min posted an official picture of the pair on her instagram of Jonghyun giving Min a kiss on the cheek. When Min told Sebastian that they were together, he was through the roof screaming 'I knew it, I knew it was going to happen and tell Tiffany she owes me $20' making Min laugh as her friends were making bets on when they would get together.
Min relationship with Jonghyun never got in the way of her close friendship with Sebastian which she was happy for. A couple more months flew by and the next thing you know it Min was once again packing her bags to start filming of the new 'The Avengers.'

Sensor Sweep: Hammett, Hernstrom, Heinlein, Haggard
Comic Books (Paint Monk): Copyright. Public Domain. Cease & Desist. Not the words one would normally think to associate with a battle featuring Conan of Cimmeria and yet here we are. Now that the smoke has cleared, Ablaze is finally able to deliver translated versions of French Glénat’s Conan comics. Let me see if I can sum it up succinctly. In Europe, most of Robert E. Howard’s works are in the public domain. In the United States?
Publishing (Kairos): There’s a shortage of paper, because it comes from China. The two largest printers of magazines and books in the U.S., Quad/Graphics and LSC Communications were going to merge last summer, but something got in the way. Now, LSC Communications has filed for bankruptcy. The second largest printer, Quad, has shut its book printing facilities entirely. In some regions, major distributors have shut down or disappeared, while although others, like Ingram, are still operating, although with reduced staff.
New Releases (DMR Books): The next DMR Books release is The Eye of Sounnu, the long-awaited collection of Schuyler Hernstrom’s stories from Cirsova magazine. Today we reveal the incredible cover by Brian LeBlanc (who also did the cover for Renegade Swords.) The title of the collection is taken from the cover story, “Gift of the Ob-Men,” which previously appeared in the first issue of Cirsova, as well as the free anthology The Infernal Bargain and Other Stories.
Hard-boiled Fiction (Elgin Bleeker): The Hammett novel, which I posted about (here), is a complicated yarn of murder and political corruption. Nick Beaumont is an advisor and right-hand man to Paul Madvig, a political power broker. In the book, Hammett showed the strong ties between the men who were long-time friends. A lot of that was lost in the 1942 movie starring Alan Ladd as Nick and Brian Donlevy as Paul because the story needed to be trimmed down to fit a movie’s normal running time. (There is also a 1935 version starring George Raft and Edward Arnold, but I have not seen it.)
Pulp Science-Fiction (Adventures Fantastic): OK, I’m gonna do it. With the exception of some of the novels, I’ll be looking at the nominees for the 1945 Retro Hugos, which are awarded for stories published in 1944. I’m going to start with the novelettes. I read “The Children’s Hour” earlier this week as a possibility Henry Kuttner birthday post before the Retro Hugo shortlist was announced. Might as well tackle it while it’s fresh on my mind.
Pulp Fiction (Dark Worlds Quarterly): Edmond Hamilton was a Science Fiction writer who is loved for his Captain Future novels, his Star Kings and any number of other Pulp stories. He was an important innovator of the 1920s and early 30s, as well as one of the best writers of Superman comics in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. But there was this time when Ed wrote Mystery stories for money…Hamilton was one of the first SF writers who tried to make a living writing only Science Fiction and Fantasy. He succeeded for the most part but there were lean years in the Great Depression when he turned to Mystery fiction.
Fiction (Jon Mollison): Is now really the best time to write a post-apocalyptic novel? It is if you know what you are doing. And as a writer, let me assure you – I know what I’m doing. The sad fact is that we already live in a post-apocalyptic world. Sooner than expected, we’ll be tasked with finding a path out of the relative doom that follows the American Empire. And fiction can help us do that. If it is the right kind of fiction.
Fiction (Track of Words): Black Library’s Siege of Terra series reaches its halfway point with Saturnine by Dan Abnett, a 500+ page beast of a book in which secrets are revealed, big names start to fall, and the stakes – somehow – get even higher. Having taken Lion’s Gate spaceport, the traitor host marches on the fortifications of the Lion’s Gate itself while simultaneously driving at the Eternity Gate spaceport, stretching the loyalist defenders to breaking point. With battles raging on multiple fronts and resources dwindling, Dorn faces impossible questions of compromise and sacrifice, as he searches for a strategy that might tip the balance in his battle of wills and wits with Perturabo.
Warhammer (Warhammer Community): This is Warhammer’s biggest plastic monster yet… it towers over a regular gargant and easily stares Archaon and his three-headed mount in their many faces. It’s festooned with details that mark it as a creature of the Mortal Realms, including trinkets from across the various factions and bits of monster – presumably to snack on after battle.
D&D (Boggswood): Both before D&D was written, and long afterward, Dave Arneson stocked his dungeons randomly and he devised different methods and applied different ways to do this. Monsters, for example, he stocked through a random “Protection Point: system. Gold he rolled dice for and items he created random tables for. The best early example is his The Loch Gloomen stocking list from 1972, reprinted in his First Fantasy Campaign booklet.
History and Writers (Frontier Partisans): H. Rider Haggard, an Englishman who had worked for several years in Natal in southern Africa, created one of the the quintessential Frontier Partisan heroes of fiction — white hunter and adventurer Allan Quatermain, hero of King Solomon’s Mines and a whole series of what Deuce Richardson calls “exotic adventure fiction.” A hunter of wild game and hidden treasures; a “Man Who Knows Indians” (or, rather, African tribesmen); an English gentleman by heritage and termperament, yet one who sought out the wild places of the earth to wander.
Fiction (NC Register): The unmistakable features of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle looked down upon me from an impressive Victorian town house. Below a larger than life portrait there was a sign; it announced: “The Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre.” I made a mental note, intending to visit what I assumed was a place dedicated to the memory and literary legacy of the creator of one of literature’s most famous figures: Sherlock Holmes. It was then that I noticed another sign. It offered “services” and other activities: the building was a center for spiritualism — necromancy by another name.
D&D (Jeffro’s Space Gaming Blog): I just had no interest in running a game featuring kobolds and goblins like happens so often when you run Keep on the Borderlands by the book. But you know, with three healing spells at first level for each cleric, high powered rangers and paladins holding things down, and with enough money in the game that the fighting-men can afford plate armor now… hoo boy, they can hold their own up against some pretty tough opposition. Tougher opposition means bigger payoffs– a tradeoff that seems quite satisfactory, at least when the players are winning.
New Release (Amazon): A resurrected sorcerer grants the wishes of the desperate men who have returned him to life—but in ways none of them anticipates. A prince makes a bargain with a barbarian criminal to travel into a lost world of violence and sorcery to save the life of a woman who may already be dead. Marauders who attack a city devoted to a great goddess suffer her strange curse when she answers the pleas of her dying priestess. The last survivors of an ancient continent confront evil at every step as they march beneath skies of endless darkness to reach the haven they hope will lead them to safety.
Art (DMR Books): “Legacy Circle members of the Robert E. Howard Foundation have something to look forward to: The Challenge from Beyond Drafts. In 1935, fan publisher and future DC Comics editor Julius Schwartz wanted to celebrate the third anniversary of his Fantasy Magazine. He asked five prominent science fiction authors and five prominent fantasy authors to collaborate on two stories, both to be titled ‘The Challenge from Beyond.’
Louis L’Amour (Paperback Warrior): Deemed “America’s Favorite Frontier Writer”, Louis L’Amour’s chronicle of the fictional Sackett family was a bestselling series. Beginning in 1960, the 17-book series is still held in high regard with fans of the western genre. While Barnabas’ son Jubal is mentioned in these books, it is explained to readers that he was a loner and distanced himself from his family. Jubal was obsessed with exploring the far west and walking “where no white-man had ever wandered”.
Fiction (Fantasy Literature): Of the nine books that I have read over the last year or so from Armchair Fiction’s current Lost World/Lost Race series, which runs to 24 volumes, no fewer than three of them have involved the discoveries of hitherto unknown civilizations far beneath the Earth’s surface. In Rex Stout’s truly thrilling Under the Andes (1914), three unfortunate Americans go through a hellacious experience at the hands of a lost race of Incas beneath the mountains of Peru. In S. P. Meek’s The Drums of Tapajos (1930), a quartet of American adventurers discovers the descendants of both the 10 Lost Tribes and Atlantis, uneasily coexisting both inside and beneath a mountain in the Brazilian wilderness.
Heinlein (Pulp Net): As a young science-fiction fan, I read several authors, and would often gravitate to a particular author at a time, reading almost everything they did, before I moved on. Often I wouldn’t follow on their later works. One of these authors was Robert A. Heinlein (1907-88), one of the “grandmasters” of science fiction, and sometimes referred to as the “dean of science fiction.” Like many SF authors of the time, he got his start in the pulps, and was successful in leaving the “pulp ghetto” for better-paying markets, such as The Saturday Evening Post, and original books.

‘So proud of you!’ Stunning blonde WAG celebrates boyfriend’s £17million football deal
Wales winger Daniel James is set to make an exciting addition to Manchester United after signing £ 17M transfer from Swansea, and his proud girlfriend has taken to Instagram to share in the joy of her partner.
Ria Hughes, who works as a sports instructor, has been with the footballer for two years and the couple owns a house together just outside Cardiff. Wag, the glamorous blonde will certainly fit well with people like Maja Nilsson and Sam Cooke when she welcomes her partner in Old Trafford.

Monthly Book Review - March
Ah, March! I had a lot of book-ish things going on in March that prevented me from reading as much as I would have liked to. I know we can all relate to that. I was happy to attend the Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association Conference and the University of Wisconsin Writers’ Institute as well as visit St. Mary's School in Portage, but that means my review list is much smaller for March.
The stand out read for the month was a middle grade novel I had downloaded quite some time ago. Upside Down in the Middle of Nowhere by Julie T. Lamana follows Armani Curtis who is turning ten the weekend Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans. All that Armani cares about is the party she’s been looking forward to for weeks, but things turn sinister when Hurricane Katrina changes course and heads straight for New Orleans. Armani and her family stay put in their Ninth Ward home, hoping things won’t get as bad as predicted. Of course, we know the area becomes flooded when a levee collapses. The rest of the book is a terrifying set of tragedies that kept me turning pages well after midnight. These events set us in a time and place with such a poignant story that I highly recommend this book for any age.
BACK COVER BLURB: Armani Curtis can think about only one thing: her tenth birthday. All her friends are coming to her party, her mama is making a big cake, and she has a good feeling about a certain wrapped box. Turning ten is a big deal to Armani. It means she's older, wiser, more responsible. But when Hurricane Katrina hits the Lower Nines of New Orleans, Armani realizes that being ten means being brave, watching loved ones die, and mustering all her strength to help her family weather the storm. A powerful story of courage and survival, Upside Down in the Middle of Nowhere celebrates the miraculous power of hope and love in the face of the unthinkable.
My second recommended read is Syncopation: A Memoir of Adele Hugo by Wisconsin author Elizabeth Caulfield Felt. This was our Columbus Books & Beer book club pick, and it was a delight to talk with Felt about this novel. Adele Hugo was the daughter of French novelist Victor Hugo who wrote Les Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The novel is written in memoir form from the perspective of Adele but in third person, which gives it a unique format that enhances the intriguing content. Felt stays true to the major historical facts about Adele Hugo’s life—portraying her inability to fit within the expectations of women in 19th Century France. This is a fast-paced, surprising, and sometimes shocking look at a historical figure we don’t know much about. Highly recommended.
BACK COVER BLURB: Writer. Composer. Seductress. Liar. In nineteenth-century France, a woman's role was explicitly defined: she was a daughter, then a wife, then a mother. This view was held by novelist and poet Victor Hugo, but not by his daughter, pianist and poet Adèle Hugo. Under such constraints, what's a woman of passion to do? Syncopation breathes life into the unconventional thoughts of this controversial female figure. An elderly Adèle recounts her desperate attempts to gain personal freedom. Her memoir blurs the fine line between truth and madness, in a narrative that is off-kilter, skewed, ...syncopated.
What have you been reading lately. I love getting recommendations!
"Never Did THIS Before" Challenge Update
The other thing that kept me away from reading in March was the Museum as Muse class I took at the Chazen Museum of Art on the UW-Madison campus through the Continuing Studies program. If you remember back to my “Never Did THIS Before” challenge, you might recall that the first of my challenges was taking this class to stretch my creativity. I had a blast using art as inspiration for the writing exercises we were assigned. My favorite one was not so much writing about the art I was viewing, but instead had me describing the experience of viewing a work of art as I took in the people and sounds around me. Great observational writing. I realize that I don't stop and really "see" things as much as I should. I hope this class is offered again. It truly had me thinking in a different creative way and sparked some new story ideas. So . . . "check" . . . March challenge complete!
For my April “Never Did THIS Before” challenge, I am taking a trip to a part of Spain that I’ve never been to before – Andalusia. I can’t wait to see some of the Holy Week processions as my husband and I tour Seville, Granada, and Cordoba. I promise to share what I am seeing and learning here on the blog next month. If you want to follow me throughout the week, I’ll be posting regularly on Instagram. Click here to go to my Instagram page.
Are you up for this challenge? Let me know what new things you’ve been doing.
