Unexpected side effect of being Turkish:

Was daydreaming trying to visiualize a breakfast scene for a fic I will never write. A kid charachter was adding sugar to his tea thelephatically while his mom was adding cold water again telephatically and it was like oh to be raised by people whom understand our powers and nurture them. To see the effects of big things in small, natural ways.

Then I realized they are American, they wouldn't be drinking tea and the kid for sure wouldn't be drinking tea and I was left with the hole a well written meaningfull scene I cannot put in left behind.

The Little Things…CZ P-07 Upgrades

I’ve had my CZ P-07 single action double action pistol for a couple of months now. The pistol was probably one of the cheapest priced pistol I had purchased in quite a few years. I wanted the lowest priced pistol I could get from CZ that was still SA/DA and compact in size like the CZ shadow 2 Compact I picked up earlier this year from Brownells. Right out of the box with nothing done I enjoyed every second behind the trigger on the CZ P-07. It’s surprisingly that good right out of the box. The trigger is a tad on the heavier side especially when compared to the much more expensive Shadow 2 Compact, but not by a whole lot. The sights on the CZ P-07 are very, very basic, but useable 3 dot luminescent sight system. Still one of the biggest complaints I have was the lack of an optic cut slide. In today’s day of pistol optics being mounted almost all the time, there’s no reason to have a slide that’s not cut for optics. Maybe CZ will have this later on? Who knows, but what I really wanted to know was what could I do to possibly improve upon this budget Goliath of a pistol?

The first order of business had to be the sights. They were plenty useable in stock form, but as I’ve aged, my eyes have had a harder and harder time picking up the sights on pistols. My preferred sight setup has been night sights, both front and rear, but with a brighter front sight coupled with subdued or blacked out rear night sights. This truly helps me shoot better during the daylight hours, but still have that low light capability. Luckily for me Brownells offers a bunch of pistol sighting options including Night Fision which is what I ended up choosing for my CZ P-07. Installation was fairly easy. I do like how CZ front sights 4slide into a groove on the slide, then have a set screw. The rear sight is in a dovetail, but also with a set screw.

The next thing that I was looking to make better was the overall smoothness of both the double action and single action trigger. Hoping to lower the weight just enough and speed up the break in process, I looked  to a small company, MCARBO for a spring kit. Being new to CZ pistols, they had a number of instructional videos to help folks with the process. It took me roughly 2 hours to install new springs and polish up all of the small parts to a mirror shine so that there were no burrs. The trigger weight dropped in half for the single action pull, 5 lbs to around 2.5 lbs and the double action pull was now around 7 lbs.

So far I’m truly loving learning a new pistol platform with the CZ line of SA/DA pistols. The P-07 especially has been super impressive for the price and the little things I’ve done to improve upon it. Once I finish vetting this pistol with enough rounds, it’ll be in my EDC rotation for sure.

Everything was sudden to them when the bombs dropped, they were in underground tunnels of the park doing whatever cops do security, out of nowhere massive boom rumbled the entire tunnel, they hear people screaming and everything started to fall apart, as they try to leave the tunnel debris fell on top of Larry, Lawrie stopped to help his twin brother, the debris was heavy but he eventually moved it. Larry's leg was busted so that slowed them down, just when they were about to reach for the exit, it was blocked off by falling debris when the next bomb dropped. They tried going the other way but the whole tunnel was collapsing. They didn't know what to do, Larry held onto Lawries hand and they took cover in a hike that was created by the rumble, radiation started to kick in and that messed up their vision, then everything went black.

200+ years later, they were found by Fang when him and his group were scavenging the park looking for any nuclear fision, he comes across a tunnel (not even a tunnel anymore) and as he ventures more, radiation kicks in, he had to be careful. He finds both robots lying on the ground, from the looks of it Lawrie was protecting his brother from the rubble. Both twins were very rusted and looked as they could fall apart just with a single tap. Fang went over to check if they were alive at least, he checked both of their cores and surprisingly Larry's core was still active, but it was dying to he immediately called for help from Meg and Mandy on his pipboy(basically like a walkie talkie? Phone? Watch idk)

He checks Lawries to see if he was alive as well, unfortunately his core was dead, his whole body was completely destroyed and it looks like some raiders took some of their parts (especially lawries) there was no way of bringing him back.

Both Meg and Mandy arrive, he tells them the news about Lawrie and before they went back to the sanctuary, they gave him a proper burial and thanks him for all his hard work, Mandy notices Lawries police badge on the tunnel floor so she takes and keeps it with her until Larry was all fixed up.

Couple months of repairing, Larry was finally fixed and his core was back to normal, now powered with the nuclear fision they found.

It took a couple of weeks for Larry to wake up, the moment he woke up he shouted Lawries name while reaching for him, he's confused about his surroundings until he sees someone familiar (cough meg), she quickly turned around right when he shouted, "YOURE ALIVE!" she's shouts excitedly, right when she was about to call the others Larry's first words after so many years were "wheres lawrie?, where is my brother!?"

They told him the news and Mandy gave him his badge, this took a big toll on him, isolating himself in that repair/recovery room for days.

After he lost his brother, his behavior went from his usual "good cop" to "bad cop" (like his brother) he wasn't the same.

Bad cop Larry 😔...

Abby, I agree with you that Oppenheimer was really fucking good, but I also read Richard Brody's take in The New Yorker today, and it's kinda hard to argue against it? IDK. I'd love to hear your take on Brody's take.

eh i’m not generally a fan of brody but i also don’t think film criticism exists as a thesis to then be defended/argued against. his critique makes sense coming from a person who clearly wanted an entirely different film, the bulk of his argument such as it is, stems from how the movie thwarted his expectations and did not fulfill what he was hoping an oppenheimer biopic would fulfill. i think as always, chris nolan has some blind spots as a filmmaker, and certainly, oppenheimer exists in the film as an enigma, albeit one we view from his own point of view, which has its limitations. i’m sure i can speak more eloquently and fully aboit those things when it’s not midnight and my face doesn’t still feel numb.

but the way the movie spoke to me was as a towering conglomeration of Feeling…. the script, the score, the editing, the pacing, the cinematography for ME add up to a film that is more concerned with trapping you in a very specific State, where words, reasoning, moral arguments (especially after the fact) mean NOTHING in the bigger picture, where all the posturing in the world is meaningless when the consequences are something we are all familiar with… it’s not a biopic, it was never trying to be a biopic. it’s an overwhelming, inescapable, long three hours looking through the eyes of a man who, perhaps, does not deserve a more nuanced, illuminating portrait… it’s the dread that sits with you, the understanding that all of these moments of grandstanding, politicking, wavering, handwringing are nothing against the reality of fusion and fision. and like. that’s not going to work for everyone! it maybe isn’t even the responsible way to tell a story like this! but i think the film as it stands is a remarkable technical achievement that also succeeds in what it’s trying to do, and if you wanted it to be something different, or needed it to be something different, or think it shouldn’t have been made at all, none of that is going to work for you and that’s fine.

personally i love experiencing a visceral reaction like i’m having my face peeled off when faced with insane external stimuli combined with my own ethics and understanding of historical events

El accidente de Chernóbil se produjo cuando el director del equipo de operación de la Unidad 4 de esta central nuclear intentó demostrar que estos reactores no eran tan peligrosos como se decía en los libros de texto. Para ello decidió llevar a cabo un experimento extraordinariamente arriesgado y peligroso.

Consistió en lo siguiente: se bajó la potencia del reactor desconectando algunos de sus sistemas de seguridad y se cerró la entrada de vapor en la turbina para demostrar que la inercia de la turbina en vacío era suficiente para mover las bombas de refrigeración de emergencia. Con objeto de aumentar la potencia, se extrajeron 162 barras de control de las 170 que tenía, dejando sólo 8 dentro del reactor y violando de este modo las normas de seguridad que exigían que hubiese un mínimo de 30 barras de control dentro del reactor.

Sucedió lo que estaba previsto en los libros de texto de teoría de reactores. Subió la temperatura y teniendo en cuenta que ese tipo de reactores tienen el coeficiente de reactividad por temperatura y huecos positivo durante el arranque, se aumentó el número de fisiones y, consecuentemente, la energía producida, lo que dio origen a una nueva subida de temperatura. El equipo de operación intentó parar el reactor introduciendo las 162 barras de control de extraídas erróneamente pero, debido al aumento de temperatura, éstas se atascaron impidiendo la parada del reactor. La temperatura siguió subiendo hasta fundir todos los elementos combustibles, de tal modo que comenzaron a arder las 1.700 toneladas de grafito que tenía el reactor, formando un gigantesco horno que expulsó a la atmósfera isótopos radiactivos que contenía el combustible, principalmente Yodo 131 y, en menor cantidad, Cesio 137.

La ingestión adecuada de pastillas de yodo estable satura esta glándula, evitando que el yodo radioactivo se acumule en ella. En Chernóbil, las pastillas de yodo se repartieron sólo a los trabajadores de la central y a algunas personas dentro de una zona de radio de 30 kilómetros.

Separation

I split in two some people's characters: 1) YurixTheWanderer's character, Aleph. She divided into Beth and Tav (second and last letters in the Hebrew alphabet, since Alpeh is the first one). - Beth got all of Aleph's shyness. She barely can talk or simply be too close to anyone. It's a serious problem. She's not a warrior, and the only magic she retains are healing powers. But it's hard for her just took enough courage to heal someone. - Tav is curious, inquisitive and always wondering how the world works. But she completely lacks manners. Not very ladylike or elegant. In battle, she uses her offensive magic power without consideration, can be really scary at that point. 2) ZeroForever's Tammy, formerly Tim, from the Overlord Bob universe. The two halves in which she divided are: - Thomasina: Even more sweet, tender, bubbly and bimbo-esque than Barbie. She's happy and in love with her, and that's all, because she's... well, you know, simple-minded. - Tamylin: Basically, she has recovered Tim's original proud personality, but with no masculine traits. That should make her an enemy of Barbie again. However, she's still in love with Barbie, so she's gonna have a pretty high number in her "tsundere" stat. 3) cyero's character Oublitette, who already has a double personality! (Sorta...) Oubliette was separated in: - Miette: Even when Oubliette just *pretended* to be a silly teenager sometimes, this part of her mind has come to life in Miette's form, much more innocent than her fake counterpart. Being this her origin, she fells like a fraud, even if this time she's not posing! It's very confusing for her, but she's a real part of Oubliette's mind: she's the part that makes Oubliette to hold herself back! - Oblivion: With the good part of Oubliette's psique gone, Oblivion's got all the craziness and murderous thoughts. By spinning the fissure it avoids the problem of it needing to rest on a material ground point so that the thing it rests on will be heated up as well. And if it’s in a facility for safety reasons it can’t be on the ground so it needs to be in a structure so the bottom basically melts so how do you avoids the obvious problem that the container will be destroyed by heat?

Put it in water which redistributes the heat because the heat is being disappated to reach an equal distribution of heat so the cold is a force and pressure because it is ever surrounding us because heat molecules are moving so fast and its shaking through the in between space of the other molecules leave. Because if there is something that’s keeping everything together there needs to be an “end to our collection as an ever present shape that is the weight of our molecules swirling. The Big Bang. The initiation of movement. I think that because gravity pulls things together the collision on thing happening probably was happening and collisions cause heat so if the heat were contained it moves so much faster it needs to fight it’s way through the path of least resistance but if the paths are too overcrowded then the heat starts shoving other molecules aside which reaches a speed point of further away molecules gets smashed and more heat is made and it’s starts the shove until the group of molecules based on mass (imagine planets) then it’s the entire pull of all molecules because of the gravity between them is still pulling them so now we are stretching gravity and reforming the distance between each is now reforming how we as a mass are moving

So basically, because the fision materials are so hot and developing heat from the 1/2 life, anything they rest on will be destroyed because we don’t have material that is impossible to heat till breaking with weight. So by putting it in a container of water the heat gets redistributed faster and by making it spin then it isn’t resting on nothing so the majority of the heat is brought towards the water and isn’t collecting heat in one particular place the entire structure is more stable so you don’t need to worry about hyper heat build up in one spot so it’s an actual buildable structure that can self fulfill itself if you redirect some of that steam and heat to a wind tunnel then you just need to make sure that it has enough water then it won’t break
