FASHION CREDITS: “JUST DANCE” MUSIC VIDEO

After breaking down the fashion of the “Poker Face”, “LoveGame”, “Paparazzi” and “Eh Eh” music video fashion, let’s take a look at Lady Gaga’s very first visual for her debut single “Just Dance”, directed by Melina Matsoukas. 

“I've watched it upwards of 500 times, and am impressed by my personal audacity to maneuver my way to video-edits with the director Melina, she is a genius. She's from New York, and working with her was one of the greatest creative experiences I've had yet. My vision for the video was "a house party in Brooklyn," but with all the sentiment glamour and filth of a downtown soiree or trashfest, with a touch of my Italian gaud and fascination with mobster movie motifs. Having Melina as a director, I felt as if she had been with me (perhaps in my purse) for the last 4 years following me during the NYC music grind. Her intuitions and attention to detail were scary, THANK YOU MELINA.” Gaga wrote.

The video begins with Lady Gaga arriving at the party in a vintage 1980 Mugler hot pink wool zip jacket with padded shoulders, fitted waist and red silk lining.

She also wore vintage Versace Z76 tortoiseshell shield sunglasses with golden metal accents.

One of Gaga’s rings is a vintage Chanel gold-plated brass ring with pearl & crystal-embellished double C logo (similar pictured).

Gaga takes off her jacket to reveal a black silk jumpsuit with disco ball mirror shard-embellished lightning bolt choker strap, matching corset and customized black patent criss-cross pumps with disco ball heels - all custom Haus of Gaga.

During filmings she wore Tom Ford’s oversized Ali black acetate round sunglasses with signature gold T letter detail on the temples.

The perforated black leather driving gloves are signed by Gaspar.

Next, the songstress wears a vintage black buttoned romper with distressed hem and open back shirt along with a disco ball-inspired bra that Gaga made herself.

The bag, our girl is rummaging through, is the Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2007 Downtown tote bag in glossy red patent leather featuring exterior zippers and buckles in gold.

For this scene the Italian-American chanteuse dons a vintage 1980s zebra print silk bat sleeve mini dress with leopard print cowl neck.

A pair of patent leather ankle boots from Burberry’s Fall/Winter 2007 collection finished the party look.

“Everything and everyone was handpicked for this video. The clothes, the spaghetti, the iceblocks, strategically sized disco balls, the kiddie-pool,the blow up whale, the partygoers--even my fishnet covered nails (so dope).my fishnetnails.“

Finally, Gaga wears a vintage plissé top and yellow shorts that she paired with, what I believe to be, a vintage Omega leather belt with gold hardware.

Gaga’s manicure was done by Naja Rickette using the Minx Golden Lightning with black fishnet pattern. On her blog, Gaga wrote: “Patent Nails!! Applied and removed with heat by a company called MINX. “
