The Dissapearence of Goro Akechi by Kupowonders - Probably my favourite fic ever, honestly- it's like. derailing the plot of persona 5 post-medjed thanks to the persona 4 accomplice ending years prior. (So, spoilers for p4 in that, too) it's. very good.

Marigolds by Colbub - Akechi gets ng+'ed to right when he started working for Shido, and has to take a good look at the future to come and be like "Aight how the fuck do I fix this". Fun times!

Daredevil, You've hit the wall by ez_cookie. Essentially, p5 Strikers but Sumire and Goro get to be in on the fun, too. And, there's a direct sequel currently being updated that's a similar premise for p5 Tactica. very very good stuff

A Tale of Two Tricksters by Zoe2k8 - Murder boyfriends! ...sort of? Angst! Angst and murder boyfriends! An oversimplification, obviously, but I'm not kidding when I say this fic is amazing and is also over a million words holy shit-

Throw away your mask by MollyPollyKinz - Another ng+ situation for Akechi, but this time the poor guy gets thrown all the way to 2009. You can imagine how well that goes (For the audience, less so for Akechi himself.)

The Crow Cries at Midnight by Dorked. hehe this one is very fun. Basically, a series of coincedencs causes Akechi to get thrown into the plot of persona 4. No time travel here! Just a grumpy 12/13 year-old Akechi trying to solve a murder mystery

The entire Tales of Chaos series by Eternalmomentss (The first one is called Like sand between your fingers) Very very good stuff! Something of a character study, I would say, of Ren and Goro. Plus, all the funky plot stuff that comes from trickster-typical bad luck and poor descision making. I really love this series hehe

Rose and Rot by SixteenJuniper - Read this!! I'm serious!! "A fun fantasy adventure" don't listen to Juniper. You'll be in tears by chapter two. (/pos, of course) (Seriously this fic is incredible)

Redressing the Balance by Convocated - ...almost a ng+? Ng+, in the sense that shuake are getting funky visions that are very quickly derailing the standard plot of p5r. This causes problems of the "Someone get the popcorn and maybe the tissues" variety

She's got a heartbeat full of lead (And she's aiming straight for the head) by Dots - This fic haunts me, often. In the best way possible, of course; but seriously, read it

Cracked into by SydneyHorses - Ren makes bad descisions and it becomes Akechi's problem. 2/2 timeloop, perhaps most notably featuring HaruGoro friendship! Love love love this fic

I feel like this kind of aspect of Dream's character is actually really underrated in fics? he is weird and reserved, but he's not stupid and he's not inexperienced. I think he just doesn't always know how to connect the knowledge he has via the collective unconscious to a real world application. that is, he knows everything but doesn't know how to talk to people about it.

I think where this could get really interesting is in a retired Dream scenario. how much knowledge does he retain during the transition to humanity? is he starting over from zero, or does he keep what he already knows (and simply can't add more to the sum total)?

it would be fascinating to see him stumble through typical human experiences like job applications and emails and doctor visits if he only has theoretical knowledge of them. like, I can watch a hundred videos on making omurice and describe in great detail all the steps to do it, but the first couple of times I try to actually make it I guarantee you I'm going to fuck it up. is it like that for Dream as well?

does he go to make a cup of tea for the first time (I contain the records of every cup of tea made in dreams, Hob, I think I can handle it.) and completely seize up? because the gulf between seeing it done in dreams and doing it with his own two human hands is so incomprehensibly vast?

you didn't even say it back. kys, i mean. i sent you such a thoughtful letter and all you do is malign me as a fanfic writer, who, even worse, can't even finish her wips. horrible. it wasn't a terrible guess given the demographics of your blog (or so i would conjecture based on halfhearted extrapolation based on crumbs of information absorbed counter to my will through social osmosis here) and the fandom inclinations of tumblrinas at large, though this is a cross i do not personally bear.

the charge levied against me by one commenter, namely that "[you] live rent free in [my] head" is false. a sizable proportion of your followers/mutuals/orbiters presumably are constituted of writers who don't finish their works (many such cases) as well the readers who are subjected to those half finished fictions and therefore cannot concieve of someone who looked at a couple posts, wrinkled their nose in distaste, and cranked out a "drabble" or whatever, closed the tab, and went about their day is out of the realm of imagination of the archetypal tumblrite, weighed down by a dozen half actualised ideas, splotchy faced and writhing around and waving their teensy fat fingered hands, shrieking and grabbing out to be given care and attention and to be nurtured so that they may mature into a finished work.

you may ask me what i am doing here if when i showcase such scorn for the character of the average tumblr user and the answer simply is 1) i don't care i just sound like this as a fixed state of being & 2) im like jane goodall if she was kind of a dick to the chimpanzees sometimes and if she was kind of stupid and insane and wrote screeds to one piece fans online.

today, quinn had a game. the canucks had been having a good game from what you’d seen from your spot in with the wags at the arena. quinn had been playing fantastic. you couldn’t ask for anything better.

you had only left for a few minutes to go and get a drink, but by the time you had come back, the other players wives had concerned looks on their faces. you didn’t know what could’ve gone wrong.

you quickly walked to see what the commotion was, and when you saw quinn being taken down the tunnel, you also grew concerned. “what happened?” you had quickly asked. another wife replied “quinn, uh, he got hit in the face with puck” she said somewhat nervously. you realized with his lack of injuries, his luck would run out sooner or later. that luck ran out that day.

now, you were jogging down the halls desperately trying to reach the medical staff to see your hurt boyfriend. you flashed your pass at the security guard and continued on your way until you met up with the staff. “y/n, quinn is just in the room on the left. the bleeding isn’t bad, but it’ll definitely be bruised.” “okay, thank you so much”

walking into that room and seeing quinn holding onto his nose in pain made your heart ache. as soon as he saw you he tried to get to you. “hey, hey. it’s okay, i’ve got you now” you tried to comfort him. “it’s not that bad, i should be able to go back on. i’m just upset that it had to happen in such a good game” he abruptly spoke. “quinn, if you don’t feel the best, maybe you should stay off?” “no, it’s okay”

10 minutes later, quinn was right back on the ice. you tried to tell him that he didn’t need to go on, but he really did not want to stay off. he did have to wear the fishbowl though, which you made sure to get pictures of to send to jack and luke later.

the canucks ended up winning the game, with quinn scoring a goal and an assist. you couldn’t be prouder. meeting him back in the tunnel he had the happiest look on his face. “see, i told you i’d be okay!” he told you. “yes, and i’m so proud of you!”. you gave him the biggest hug, which he of course accepted and then he kissed your forehead. you two both headed home after a fabulous game.

games like these were what quinn enjoyed most. the challenges thrown at him only drove him farther. he was always so dedicated to everything in life. he really was the best for you.

@sabrina-author was asking about tumblr writing events, so I figured I’d put together a list of everything I’m currently aware of. please feel free to chime in with more, as I’m sure I’m missing things!

Ongoing Events:

World-Building Wednesday: send asks to fellow writeblrs with world-building questions

Blorbo Thursday: same, but with questions about OCs (blorbos)

Storyteller Saturday: same, but with any kind of writing question. can be about the writing process, their wips, etc.

Smut Sunday: post a spicy excerpt or prompt list

Fluff Sunday: (I think this is or was a thing?) post a fluffy excerpt or prompt list

Note: for ask-based events and games, you can always ask anonymously if the person has anon turned on for their inbox.

Ongoing Games:

Ask Games: you’ll see folks reblog ask games now and then, which are just lists of questions (like this one). you send an ask with one of the questions (usually sending the phrase or symbol that represents that question), and they answer it. 

Picrew Games: usually just links to a picrew with rules like “design your OC with this picrew” or “design a cupcake/fishbowl/object that represents your OCs.” (Like this one.) you can tag other writers to do the game as well, but that’s totally optional.

Find the Word/Word Search Game: for this game, you take a set of words (like...soft, run, fast, and hard), then search for them in your wip, then post the snippet that uses that word. You can either grab words from someone else who has done the game, or you can make up your own to get a game started. in the snippet post, you also tag a few other writers and give them words to search for. I usually do three or four words, to keep it manageable. Here’s an example from a diff writeblr.

Last Line Game: you post the last line (or group of lines) you wrote, then tag a few other writers to do the same. Here’s an example.

If you’re not sure who’s comfortable being tagged in certain games, you can always create a post saying “interact with this post if you’re okay being tagged in games.” I have a list in my notes doc of who has said they’re okay with it and I refer to that list when I go to tag folks.

You and 🦩anon are both geniuses and I just need to add that the lyric "dead and cold, a story told/by those he trusted, those he loved, and those who then moved on" applied to recently fishbowled Dream? UNBELIEVABLY painful, no notes.

(But also then Hob can be like "moved on???? I waited for you for 133 years wtf????" And Dream can have the revelation that no, not everyone moved on 🥹)

AHHH agreed (here’s the first post about the count of monte cristo)!! I recommend everyone go listen to the song because the way the singer performs the “and those who then moved on” part is absolutely spine tingling.

I love the idea of Hob being like “but I didn’t?? I literally bought a pub and waited so that we’d have somewhere to meet on the off-chance that you’d come back??” And Dream (still sore from the fact that his subjects in the dreaming abandoned the realm) is forced to confront the fact that he is loved and cherished by someone. He has to come out of the emo slump for a minute and acknowledge that Hob didn’t abandon him and probably never will.

Of course he’s still entitled to feel terribly depressed but. Maybe Death was right. Hob was pleased to see him. Hob waited. Maybe the world isn’t such a terrible place after all?

I recently had thoughts about Hob's relationship with food and I just now saw that you have a farmer bingo prompt? Awesome?!

I just feel like a little part of Hob's brain would constantly be occupied with food related things, like "what am I eating today, do I still have flour/milk/eggs" and so on. He'd be a bit of a prepper. And farmer Hob would be a nice continuation for that. He can't starve if he is growing the food himself, right? Right?! So he starts small with some beans and turnips and then he might have a chance to acquire a run-down farm, and hey, he's due for a new life soon anyway, so it all goes downhill (uphill?) from there.

Just - Hob on a tractor blasting music on his headphones. Hob sitting outside in the evening with a beer watching his chickens. Hob buying some goats and getting into making cheese to sell in that small weird organic market in the next town. (Dream coming over and massaging his poor, sore muscles.) Hob getting offended that Dream won't try his cheese (You know I don't eat. I MADE THIS MYSELF!). Dream having very serious conversations with the chickens. Matthew being offended. Yeah.

I'm seeing myself out now.

This is such a cute idea! When I saw that square, I immediately thought of the game Stardew Valley, but didn't have the connecting piece for how to use that yet. Now I'm imagining Hob ready to try something totally different after several decades of city life. He decides to take over a rundown farm on the outskirts of a small town after his last "death".

Time for Hob to finally work through some of the lingering issues he has with food after living on the brink of starvation for 80 years.

Time for Dream to indulge his human kink while watching Hob do all the manual labor.

Time for Hob to make Dream omelets with the fresh eggs from his farm and feel like he's providing for someone again.

Time for Dream, who is still scarred and weary of humans post-fishbowl, to experience some small town hospitality. Everyone smiles at him, everyone says hello (remember that asshole in episode six who backs away when Dream tries to be friendly? The opposite of that). The little old lady up the road immediately takes to Dream and constantly gives him little gifts like a knitted scarf and batches of fresh cookies.

Just both of them getting to flourish in the midst of a quiet, simple life. Plus, Matthew getting jealous of the chickens? Hilarity.

Hey I want to hear your thoughts on why you consider that project sekai’s concept to be psychological horror because I’m glad not only one to think too much about Project Sekai’s concept and setting

Before anything I wanna preface that I specifically think the Sekais are what fit the game into that post because all those games have some premise where you enter a place that's built up from someone's mind or feelings. Rhythm game, cards, and character motivations aside the concept of a Sekai being a world made out of one or several people's feelings/mind is what I'm focusing on.

Aside from Nightcord's Sekai literally being a reflection of how Mafuyu feels empty and essentially is an empty person and would be considered a liminal space if Hatsune Miku wasn't there. The characters and the virtual singers look on the bright side of this neat infinite space that they would be trapped in if they didn't have their phones anymore. The virtual singers are confined to their specific Sekai and peek out of phones like they're windows. They're aware of other Sekais and other versions of themselves in those Sekais. Like if this wasn't a gacha game featuring colopale's og characters and their growth as young adults trying to be musicians (for the most part) I can easily see a b side that looks past the anime antics of the virtual singers. Being self aware that you're a computer program/just one version of one greater part (Hatsune Miku) has great psychological horror routes to go after all.

Aside from this you see the nightcord virtual singers biding their time and wandering the infinite space of the empty Sekai because there's nothing there. I see it implied that the place loops like some backrooms nightmare scape too. The stage Sekai has a faceless crowd that without fail cheers its idols on with matching glowsticks. Have you ever thought about what the outside of the school in the school Sekai looks like? If they tried to leave it? Would there be anything there? Would it be like a fishbowl and trying to leave the confines of the school would have you hit a wall, or even just have you loop like the empty Sekai? Just the unknown of if a Sekai is infinitesimal or not can be easy psychological horror, one of the greatest fears is of the unknown, and funny enough Mafuyu's Sekai is the most KNOWN of the Sekais if you ask me.

This isn't to say the game of Sekai is itself a psychological horror because of these details, it's just that on a scale of using the concept of a liminal space that manifests out of some aspect of a person, Sekai uses it in not a horror game way where I'd say most other games would (Yume Nikki has straight up near empty plains that loop around as you walk through them like the Empty Sekai). Like, they use the Sekai concept to create worlds for their characters to interact with the virtual singers as creative guides and emotional aides, and that's fine I like that just fine. I just also enjoy works that delve deeper into what a physical space says about a person (persona 4 😔), and Sekai lightly touches on that specifically with Mafuyu and Tsukasa seeing as it's their Sekai and nobody elses. Mafuyu's is in your face but Tsukasa's is loaded with bright colors, stuffed animals as a nod to his playtimes with Saki, and in some aspects you could see it as an Inside Out sort of deal with his feelings presenting as so overstimulating so nobody ever goes unhappy. You can't not smile here. You're supposed to smile and be happy. Tsukasa's mission statement is to keep him and everybody else happy. So why not make his mental-scape an amusement park wonderland?

I have seen a couple fanworks that touch on a horrorish take on sekai's world mechanics, because yeah anon it is a concept that in a game with a different mission statement could definitely use it for horror. Yume Nikki and Limbus Company do just that (they are also both free). The existential horror of Hatsune Miku and the liminal space aura the Sekais have can easily get turned into a horror concept.

Hi hi it's given sanctuary anon again I've been busy with life and I come back to 3!! New chapters?? I feel so spoiled. I haven't entirely caught up yet but im just about tearing up over dreams talk with Lucienne. I have a soft spot for "Character realizes they've hurt those they care about, feels horrible about it, and tries to do better" and you write it so well! I read a lot of hob/dream fics so of course they are the focus, but theres so much to explore with Lucienne too! She probably bears the brunt of dreams moods and she still stands by him with nearly love and loyalty, (though it was so satisfying to see her actually be upset with him in the show) it's very mirrored to hobs situation i feel?

It's funny, I was talking with my amazing beta @thornfield13713 a little about Dream's growth arc in the story. "Giving Sanctuary" really is about giving Dream an alternate redemption/growth arc from the canon storyline of "getting captured and tortured and forced to face his own flaws against the backdrop of losing everything" which sort of hampers his realization and growth because he's so wrapped up in rebuilding his realm and getting his tools back that the fact he's decided to change and be better towards people like Lucienne and Hob is sort of one change of many that's happening.

Because yes, as you say, Lucienne absolutely is a saint for bearing the brunt of Dream's acerbickness over the years.

Giving Sanctuary also bears at its heart the thesis that Dream's cruelty and callousness had strong roots in the loss of Orpheus. He could be spiteful and full of rage before that, as a capricious god, but the being who is exhausted of this world, contemplating ending his existence, and delights at the prospect of making Hob hate living as much as he does with the curse of immortality is a result of Orpheus's death. And thus, what breaks that shell and allows him to see what he has become is Hob reaching out a hand and commiserating with him over this shared pain.

And I admit, I agonize a bit over whether Dream is changing too quickly, but there is a Doylist element of "Maybe, but this is self-indulgent so he'll change as quickly as I damn well please, so long as I've earned it within the story" and a Watsonian "Well, the events of the show take place over a similarly short time so far, and Dream is super distracted from his own growth post-fishbowl with all the other stressful events. Maybe he would be apologizing, checking himself, trying to do better and be better with those who love him sooner if he had the space and will to do so."

Furthermore, GS takes place so far in very private, interior spaces, where Dream is, for the most part, only ever dealing with the few people who love him most and who most respect his privacy, and all of these interactions are happening in the kind of solitude Dream would want and need to begin to tentatively work towards making these overtures of improvement. Hob won't laugh at Dream for trying to be better with him, neither will Lucienne, and while Death might tease, she at least can pull rank if Dream gets bitchy about his pride with her.

But Dream of the Endless, Morpheus, the Lord of the Dreams and King of Nightmares is still there. We just don't see him as much in GS because we mostly see him through Hob's eyes and around those he's most motivated to make amends to, like Lucienne. But, in theory, if an enemy crossed his path, if a dream or nightmare challenged him, if a stranger mocked him for going soft, we would see just how much the Dream everyone knew is still very much there. He's only decided to be better with those closest to him. The tragedy of Dream's depression up to the point of GS is that it robbed him of even interacting with those who care for him in a positive manner, like Hob and Lucienne.

And at risk of spoilers, I will say that Dream (and Hob) still has a ways to go. We're going to see some emotional beats besides Dream and Hob being sweet and perfect to each other all the time, very soon. Doesn't mean they're not good for each other. Just means they're still human (sort of) and not all progress is made at once.

Lucienne is perfect, though. That's of course a given ;)

Hi! Love your fics. I had a question about your "they're husbands, your honor" series. It's been mentioned several times that Dream still got captured by Burgess and still spent about a century in the fishbowl. Are you planning to write a rescue fic or at least elaborate on what happened? Or is it basically same as canon and not worth writing about?

Hi anon! I try to make it a policy to only write what brings me joy, and while I do hope to sometime write the sequel to Wedded-Be, right now there's a massive block on it in my head. So I have no plans to post what I do have written so far because I can't guarantee it will get finished and i hate that feeling! I hope you're enjoying the other things im writing though!

What's going on the 18+ blog?

Anything I don't feel comfortable sharing with my followers who are minors, also I'm sure there are plenty of 18+ followers who don't actually want to discuss or view the characters in sexual situations. so I'm creating a space just for the spicier stuff.

there will be non-explicit smut drabbles and doodles. We're not doing anything hardcore in the fishbowl and the heavier stuff will still be censored. Also expect light hearted thirsty anons and more candid serious discussions about sex, intimacy and how sexuality applies to the characters.

random dumb idea: mudad au but since dio took jonathan's body jonathan is just a talking Futurama-esque jar head 😂 he's kind of passive aggressive about the whole thing

OMG anon that's not a dumb idea, that's an idea I already had years ago, and I've been thinking a lot about how to introduce it LMAO. I mean, I imagined the same thing, but in the opposite way: Jonathan kept his own body, and Dio remained just as a talking head.

This is a tweet I posted in July 2020:

Translation: "Jojo AU in which Jonathan survives because Dio couldn't steal his body, but Jonathan puts Dio's head in some sort of fishbowl, like the heads on Futurama."

There was even a point where I imagined that Dio's head was passed down to Jonathan's descendants, from generation to generation, and Jolyne in elementary school would take her little friends home to show them Dio's head and scare them. And when Dio sleeps, they cover him up as if he were a parrot, and you can hear his snores mixed with soft wryyys, lol.

So yes, I would love to draw something like that in the future, it's already noted on my list ✍(●ˇ∀ˇ●)
