If you had a fursona what animal/colour would they be?

oh baby, I DID actually try my hand at fursona making once. Idk how much I like it in terms of it being MY fursona but I had a glorious time showing it to friends who love fursonas. For malicious reasons. I’ll get into it later. So I decided spontaneously, late at night, that I wanted to try my hand at a fursona. I always loved what one could do with anthro characters, but I’ve never been great at character design. I just haven’t been creative enough for anything exceptional. But a long time ago, loosely inspired by steampunk music, I had this idea for some type of slimy, smarmy, comedically evil businesswoman. A comedically evil businesswoman who was ACTUALLY slimy: a Hagfish lady <3 Not me exactly but something I’m fine being represented by comedically! I am also unsure if a fish qualifies as a “furry” exactly, but it doesn’t have scales, and my friend who know about furries didn’t object.

I couldn’t decide if I wanted her to have a tail or legs, or breasts or no breasts (bc she’s not a mammal). I’m a big fan of hagfish, they’re so fun and fit the personality of the character I think. But I picked it for metaphorical reasons too. Brace yourself for me being over dramatic and waxing poetic a bit.

I factually know I’m a good person, but I often am riddled with guilt and think myself a worse person than I probably am. Morally I’m probably okay, and I get told I’m morally okay often, but I see myself as like…licentious, lazy, harmful to those around me, greasy, perverse, manipulative, slimy. For no reason or event in particular. I’ve just been thinking of myself like that since I was super young. I think people call it Imposter’s Syndrome but I hesitate to call it that, I’d think that same way if no one thought I was good. A hagfish is a perfectly fine fish, it’s not harmful and it’s just living its life, but uh

Nasty.

They’re okay! They’re scavengers who eat like, carcasses. The only time they do harm really is in self defense, the rubbery slime from their bodies suffocating predators. But they’re so gross, they’re regarded as revolting to anyone who sees them, I don’t know anyone else who likes they. No one can get past the never-ending, all encompassing slime.

it’s sort of a….“I think myself gross on the inside, harmless on the outside. I make a character who’s gross and trying to appear harmless and nice” deal, combined with the fact that all evidence seems to say I’m alright, and there’s nothing truly reprehensible about hagfish either.

I hope this makes sense, it’s getting real late where I am. When I make characters, I like to give them traits I have that I don’t like about myself or things that represent traits I don’t like about myself. It makes me feel better somehow. It feels like putting forth something about myself that I can’t seem to get anyone else to see? I love my OCs, so I’ll start to appreciate/ease up on similar traits myself more? I wish I’d see other people like me with my hyper specific issues/negative traits in media, so I make em? Who knows why, but I think it may be a common thing.
