What is one word you would use to describe your OC’s appearance? How does your OC react to and handle stress? What is your OC’s favorite food? Favorite place? Do they go there often? What do they wish they knew more about? Where did their name come from? Does it have meaning?

What is one word you would use to describe your OC’s appearance?

Luna: Sweet

Kat: Confident

How does your OC react to and handle stress?

Luna: Listens to music, throws herself into making teaching plans for her music class. She's a little bit of a workaholic lol. She's decent at handling it, being an adult, but sometimes it can get overwhelming.

Kat: Tbh depends on what part of her character arc lol. At the beginning, she is a chronic smoker and underage drinker. The only healthy thing she would do is read poetry or books. At the end of it, she listens to music, thinks things through--the only thing that sticks is reading poetry/books. She's not great at handling it at first and often gets anxiety, but gets better over time.

What is your OC’s favorite food?

Luna: She's more of a breakfast gal, loves crepes the most. Especially loaded crepes, but she also loves the classic cinnamon and sugar. She also enjoys seafood a lot!

Kat: Stew, mainly goulash. Also has a huge sweet tooth and dislikes bitter/dry stuff.

Favorite place? Do they go there often?

Luna: A cafe in the heart of Chicago. She goes there very often to make teaching plans and draw.

Kat: Memorial Park in Calumet City, and yes, she goes there often to (illegally) street perform and hang out with the mothers there. She also loves going to the library and bookstores, things she less often goes to for... reasons.

What do they wish they knew more about?

Luna: Her family is second generation immigrants from Switzerland and France, but because her grandparents were so Americanized it's hard to know a lot about the culture.

Kat: Beyond learning the guitar, she wants to know more about who her parents were and how they lived. She has some puzzle pieces, but not all of them...

Where did their name come from? Does it have meaning?

Luna: For Luna, in universe her name is due to her deceased father, who was a literature professor and studier of mythologies. He loved the olden works of Virgil, and found the name Luna in his work Georgics. He and Luna's mom loved this name a lot and gave it to her. There's also a secret reason, but that'll be revealed hehe. For irl, I thought it'd be neat for her to have a fantasical name like Elwood does. Her last name comes from the jazz singer, Ella Fitzgerald :)

Kat: In universe, I'm keeping it just a bit of a mystery as to how Kat's name was workshopped as it'll be revealed later. However, I can say her mother, Gretchen, really loved Anna Karenina. However, she didn't want her name to be a full on reference to the book. Katerina was born! This isn't a spoiler cause it's subtly revealed in the first chapter lol, but her middle name, Anita, is from Anita O'Day. Irl, tbh I really liked how Katerina sounded, plus I love characters that have long fancy names but prefer nicknames (thus, Kat). Plus, I wanted the name to have Kat in it somewhere so she could eventually get the nickname "Kitty" (no bearing on my own nickname, I'm not projecting THAT hard) as many blues and jazz singers get that nickname. Her and by extension Gretchen's last name is from the singer Betty Carter :)

OKAY so there’s a lot of characters in dc but the ones I draw/talk about the most are these group of friends!! They feature in Young Justice 1998, Teen Titans 2003, and Young Justice 2019, as well as having their own comics and other appearances :)

each comic run has different vibes but my personal favorite is yj1998 bc I like its wacky and zany vibes. It was not my first comic though, and it’s a little older so it might be hard to understand or read if it’s your first time reading comics like this, and again it is old soooo some stuff does Not age well such as certain jokes or depictions and it is of course not all perfect but overall I love it and think it has a lot of heart

I think i have a lot of fun with it bc it feels so…animated? And it has funny slapstick humor. Honestly I probably like it bc it makes me laugh the same way ninjago makes me laugh…a group of 4+ friends that have cute dynamics with each other and just Being Silly Together. I really don’t know how to explain it but between all three runs, I can see yj1998 in my head the most as a wacky animated show with exaggerated bouncy animation idk so that’s part of the fun for me. I think the moment I realized this was going to be a long term emotional investment was When I read the issue where they randomly end up on a planet and have to play baseball bc I am a SUCKERRR for baseball shenanigans

But yeah the group starts out with Bart, Tim, and Kon in JLA: A world without Grownups, and they just have a good trio dynamic 🙏 the banter between all three is so good 🤩and I liked seeing their friendship develop throughout yj1998 too! Especially for Tim, with his hesitancy at the beginning.They weren’t without conflict ofc but that adds to why I like them bc eventually they became besties for life. They are also quickly joined by others but the main one that stays w the group through all three runs is Cassie Sandsmark , aka Wonder Girl ii.

But yeah I guess some things I like are the way they actually Hang out? like they will do camping trips or go to the mall and games together etc etc, but there will be parts that feel more serious while never losing that humorous tint to it. For some examples, I love how Tim tries to be a leader in the beginning, but then one arc shows just how much Cassie is more fitting for it, and how they bond over Leader things like how hard it is to tell Bart what to do and then will share a really nice hug 🥺, and I love Cassie and Cissie’s relationship a LOT because they sometimes misunderstand each other but clearly care for each other (they aren’t canon but in my heart they are.) I also like Tim and kon’s build towards understanding and friendship for a similar reason, and cissie and Anita also have a nice development with each other, but yeah all the dynamics are just fun to think about tbh 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am pointing at them eagerly and going “wow! Friendship!!”

And as for the guy I never shut up about…well that’s a whole thing I could ramble about but i became obsessed with him the moment he quoted Peter Pan while lamenting about how he was afraid his friends would leave him behind after several issues of him acting like Hot Shit and erm I’m predictable so it got to me 🙄 also he makes dumb jokes every second like he expects someone to laugh at them like he’s so dumb sometimes….anyways I do not want to ramble too much so I will get on with it

I was only familiar with his black tshirt look before, so when I first saw this goofy looking dumbass with a leather jacket and glasses and an earring I WAS LIKE “THATS SUPERBOY? THATS REAL?” and quickly became interested in the notion of a Superman associated hero wearing something like this bc I don’t think my brain ever considered the possibility before….also it is something I cannot explain some panels just activate my cuteness aggression 😔 I just think he’s really cute 🫶🫶🫶

Tbh, I don't have an exuse. I also have no idea what this story is. I'm so sorry. Also this is long overdue, I'm sorry.

Sometimes Anita felt like her memory was wrong. Like she lived in a world that ran parallel to the one everyone she knew lives in. They were small things that almost always got to her. Little details that didn't seem right. When those obnoxious reporters tried to interview her about Jackson's death, they tried to claim that it happened close to Christmas. But they were wrong, she could have sworn it happened just before Thanksgiving. Besides, Jackson wasn't dead. He was still alive, she just didn't know where he was. Could it have been a mistake? Was she not remembering correctly?

But then there were things that were crystal clear in her mind. There was no room to doubt if she was wrong. On these things she knew she was right.

One of those things happened to revolve around one of the other Apex Legends.

Anita remembered clearly the first time she met Bloodhound. It was on the battlefield, which was weird seeing as they all shared rooms on the dropship. It kinda begged the question of why she had never seen them before. But no, she knew it was on the battlefield. Because that was a place where it didn't matter who you are or what you were, there they were all fighters.

She watched through the scope of her G7, one of her favorite guns, as they worked. She didn't know them, they weren't on the same team even, but the way they moved had caught her eye. It was like that were a feral beast stalking their prey. It was so natural and appealing it was hard to not watch. This person had seen many battles, maybe more than she had.

They were dangerous.

"...Nita?" He called to her.

Bangalore looked over half expecting to see Jackson. Nobody really called her by that nickname anymore, now that he was off on his own. But no, it was just Octavio… Octane.

"Chica, let's go, let's go, let's go. I'm so bored." Even his drawl was fast paced.

Anita should have known she couldn't watch the beauty of a natural predator forever. Not with this little speed gremlin as one of her team. He was too antsy to stay in one place for too long. He wasn't much for snipping,  sitting and waiting, or enjoying the marvelous show that Bloodhound was displaying for her.

"Alright. Let's get moving." She said, drawing her three companions attention. A young looking woman who only went by the name of Wraith.

With a simple nod, both of her teammates sped on ahead. It was weird being the slowest. But it gave her time to think about a beast that she would soon have to face. Hopefully nobody put them down before then.

As it turned out, Bloodhound was the kill leader. And by the time Anita faced them, she knew she would be meeting her end at those hands. Which she did, only trying to save the speed demon from dying. Her whole team met their end to the eyes of Bloodhound. They were so swift, precise, and gorgeous. Did a mere human ever move like that? Faster than the reckless Octane who used something, probably illegal, to make himself go faster. By the time she saw the red eyes focusing on her, she had prepared.

But that didn't mean she didn't put up one hell of a fight. She knew that by the time she went down and the world faded, she had probably shredded their armor down to nothing.

And she thought that would be the last time she saw him, at least until the next fight. Oh how wrong she was.

Anita woke up in the med bay. She knew her team had lost since she was the last to fall. She struggled to sit up. Her hurry eyes scanned the room for others but she must have been the last to wake up.

"Ah, ya awake now?" Ajay Che's voice rang clear. Oh yes, it was only natural she would be tending to the injured, she often did that when she wasn't a patient.

"You're team won." It wasn't stated as a question. Yeah, Lifeline and Bloodhound had been on a team together. Anita wasn't sure who their third was, but at this point it was over and didn't matter.

"Barely." Ajay laughed. "No thanks to you, takin out mosta Bloodhound's armor like that. They been lookin for ya ever since we won."

"Oh?" Anita questioned. They won the game, they couldn't be that upset she had fought to the end.

"Yeah. They said-"

The tap at the door interrupted Lifeline. Their masked head popped through the doorway.

"Speakin of." Ajay said. She gave Anita a soft look. "I need to be on my way. Think Octavio messed up a screw in his leg or something. Don't mind me."

Bloodhound didn't speak until Ajay Che passed them. But after she slipped passed, they moved into the room. Everything about how they stalked closer screamed danger.

"Today was a good fight." They said clearly, though their accent and the heavy mask made it hard to grasp at first.

"It was." She said stiffly not sure how to answer. She would have loved to watch more of their fighting. She would have to settle for watching it at the local bar later on.

"Perhaps next time we will be gifted with the benefit of being teamed together."

Was that a compliment? It sure felt like on. This person, who's body language screamed to keep away, wanted to be with her on a team. There was no better way to watch a beast at work than to join it.

It was then, barely sitting up in the med bay,  when she realized she would love nothing more. She wasn't sure if it was admiration for someone who was a talented fighter, or perhaps growing feelings from her time passionately watching them as they went all out, but she would love nothing more than to work with them.

She would love nothing more than to stand by Bloodhound's side as an equal. Than first memory of them, of wanting to be by their side, she would never forget. It would never be wrong.

-Plot with more members, definitely! I try to expand of course and rp threads with everyone but I think I could do better and could def do bigger plots with more people.

-Complete more tasks tbh. This one is gonna be hard for me to do but idk if I could do at least one task every other month that would be an improvement over last year haha.

-Continue to work on scenery and detail etc. My weaknesses. I hope that rping more detail-oriented characters, like Charlie or even Mowgli, or exploring the lake with Andrina or the forest with Prince/Merida will help with this. Though also just being more aware of it in the day to day

Ber: Explore Berlioz’s mental health more. Whether I do this through tasks/one-shots or something, Ber is kinda in this weird place where he’s blurring the line between reality/fantasy and I think that’s interesting. A lot of it has to do with things he isn’t dealing with (trauma from Taka and going down into hell). Also very specifically I want him to rp with Marie more bc Berrie is kinda underdeveloped both on my part as an rper and his part as like a mediocre brother lmao. I also like him as a supporting role in other people’s plots and I hope I can keep pushing him in those directions. And of course I’m very interested to see him and Simba repair and grow their relationship hopefully stronger than ever. <3 OH and g row a backbone tbh stand up for himself more do it ber

Kiara: Figure out her school life!! I still want to have her shadow someone sooo I think I could see her shadowing Minnie or even Jiminy since she’s sort of into health and social work. Also explore her envy of her friends with magic bc she had powers in Star wars and lowkey she still wants powers (opportunity for Feys Gold Antics here-- also feel liek there could be something interesting in Kiara v. Jake if Jake really does start getting more elitist)

Hades: BOARD STUFF. Im really excited to play Hades as a politician and like-- authority figure in town. Though he’s gotta save his own soul first lol. Also supporting Belle in hopefully going back to school. Alsoooo there are loose threads in hell that I have and would like 2 look into…

Milo: Talk with Jane about what comes next after pride u because his grant is almost up! Plot with BIANCA/BERNARD hopefully about the rescue aid society.

Nala: ONE NIGHT STAND SERIOUSLY. Let loose. Date someone bc if she fell in love work wouldnt be her focus and she’d grow a lot. Uh repair relationship with Simba?

Also hopefully grow his relationships with all hospital personnel and patients, and maybe get a  mentorship with Tibbs and/or Sweet. In fact it’d be really cooool if he could eventually help Sweet with his research like as an intern or assistant or something. And also i want to get him to an event but i need him to get a friend for that so!!! A texting buddy friend, that is a specific goal.

i love this question.

Belle: my fave is def the scene where she’s taking care of the Beast after the wolves attack them and he gets all grumpy and she Shuts That Shit Down. i take so much of my inspo for belle from that scene alone tbh--but i also do love the opening sequence and how could you not love I WANT ADVENTURE IN THE GREAT WIDE SOMEWHEREEEE

Simba: ugh, so many good moments, but the best scenes in the whole movie are def the stars scene with mufasa and when simba sees rafiki. i also LOVE LOVE nala and simba’s reunion. also, ofc, okay this part is def my fave: the running back to pride rock UGH THAT SCENE

Toulouse: FFT FFT FFT!! that was legit the only part of the movie i remembered from watching it as a little kid. also when he and ber are fighting on the piano, i love that scene, it’s so cute.

Bambi: the part where thumper and bambi are like hanging out and thumper is teaching bambi to say shit. and he’s like BIRD BIRD BIRD BIRD and he’s walking along following this lil butterfly, ugh so precious my darling.

Perdita: gosh there is not a lot of canon perdy tbh but i do love her and anita’s relationship. also when she’s kickin ass and taking names to save her babies. also how she really doesn’t want to get covered in coal and pongo says “c’mon perdy time to put on your make up!” 

Sweet: everything?? about him??? he’s so great?? all his lines?? but i love the part where he’s taking care of the old king the best bc before that moment he’s kind of been liek quippy and comic relief but u get to really see his compassion and strength and steadiness in that scene and i love it.

Maui: his backstory, definitely. that was what made me really interested in playing him bc he totally models slyth but is actually a big ole puff and just wants people to love him. also i like the scene where he leaves moana after she Fucks Up (tm) i know that’s probably a weird scene to love but idk i thought it was super interesting.

Hercules: alskdjfladjkflaskjdfljfl EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM?? herc is just my precious darling. but i love how awkward he is but then how FIERCE he gets when he’s protecting people. like you think what a soft marshmellow how is he a hero and then when faced with danger he RISES and it just always warms my heart. my fave is the hydra scene bc that’s the first time he’s like rly sUCCESSFUL as a hero and it’s such a good fight and he uses his strength to his ADVANTAGE ugh i lvoe hercules.

Attina: ahaha she also doesn’t have a lot of canon, but def my favorite is when they find out that ariel has been #gettindown at the club and attina is like NO ABSOLUTELY NOT and hten everyone makes puppy faces at her and she caves so easily. i based a lot of her character on that. like she seems like a hardass but she’s rly not she wants her sisters to be HAPPY

Akela: gosh, he really does not have a lot of canon to go off of at all, in either movie. i’m gonna say the Law of the Jungle. That’s really important to his development in my head. also the scene in the live-action with grey where he tells him that the runts get eaten sometimes bc it’s like the only time he’s not the Serious Alpha but to me it just showed this like softer side to him? that was playful--and i based a lot of his character on that.

♥: One thing you love about your Muse.

Belle: laksdjflkajdf what don’t i love about belle? i mean as a character as a whole i love how inspiring she was to all young girls who loved to read and encouraging girls to be SMART and not be SHY about it. to EMBRACE their bRAINS which is such an important lesson for young girls. and i really love that about my belle too. that she is very demure about a lot of things but DO NOT QUESTION HER INTELLIGENCE. it is the one thing she will unflinchingly defend about herself and i don’t think we see that enough in female characters.

Simba: i love how much simba loves himself. i make fun of it quite a bit, bc he can be so over the top with it, but i really appreciate his level of self-care because that’s something i struggle with. like--not so much confidence, i have a decent amount of that but just, he really does take care of his overall physical health. he exercises, he showers, he eats properly (tho i mean he eats a lot too and lets himself indulge which is important). but he like idk keeps his beard trimmed and takes care of his skin and this sounds like a really weird thing to admire but since i struggle w depression, it’s nice to see ppl who function normally even tho he also struggles w depression. ALSO i love his flirting. haha. inspires me to be a better flirt.

Toulouse: kind of self care too, in a way? i love that lou is unapologetic about who he is, even when he doesn’t like himself. and he really does take care of himself before anyone else. like he does not let other’s opinions (except his siblings) influence his decisions and that’s something i struggle with. it actually makes lou one of my most genuine characters, because if he is sweet to you, if he helps you, if he protects you, he’s doing it because he wants to, not out of any obligation. as someone who struggles to say “no” to people, it’s admirable.

Bambi: ahaha honestly there isn’t much i admire about bambi. not because he’s a bad person but because he’s a teen who is still finding himself and struggling with a lot of self loathing and is in that place in his life where he is making mistakes. but, i do like that, writing him, im getting a--chance to look back and rexamine teenhood from a new perspective which is interesting and fun.

Perdita: i love how FIERCE she is. i always say perdita’s attitude is mine if i didn’t care about what people thought of me and that’s definitely true. i love that the first impression that paul got from her was she didn’t care what anyone thinks BUT i love that she really actually does too bc it just adds so much dynamic.

Sweet: gosh i love how level-headed he is. as someone who is temperamental i really appreciate characters like sweet and poca and haku who are very centered and strong and sturdy. i appreciate their calm presence in my head. i also LVOE how poetic writing him is. he’s one of my characters i feel like i can indulge lyrically in my words with the most.

Maui: i love how conflicted maui is. i love that he has this really stark duality to him and is much more than his cocky exterior and he genuinely really does care about people, not just about the attention, though that is a big draw. i also love what a BOY he is. it’s really fun to play him walking that line of fuckboi and genuine person.

Hercules: what a PRECIOUS MUFFIN HE IS. i just love the whole super strength but has no way to control it thing. it’s just a great duality to play with. like he is so gentle and so afraid of hurting people but has this awesome power. he’s just very precious to me just so sweet and good and pure. 

Attina: my self indulgent bae ahaha. i love that she’s a MERMAID i love that she’s so bubbly. i don’t have any BUBBLY characters. and she’s so happy and smiley. i mean, simba is kinda like that both of them just Radiate Joy. and i also love playing sisters. i love love the family dynamic and the fact that there is so many of them, because it just leads to such RICH character development. i love what a romantic she is. i love how soft and kind but how protective. how scared but how brave. ugh my beeb

Akela: he’s another really calm person. i love that akela doesn’t linger on his mistakes. he has regrets. he acknowledges when he’s done something wrong and then--wait for it--HE MOVES ON. he doesn’t dwell. he doesn’t beat himself up. he picks himself up and dust himself off and moves on. which is so refreshing bc most of my characters are wallowers ahhaa

Belle: GIRL I S2G GET SOME FUCKIN SELF CONFIDENCE it just really annoys me that she needs to be poked and prodded into feeling good about herself bc she’s so BRAVE AND STRONG AND KIND AND WONDERFUL she’s perfect and she SHOULD KNOW THAT SHE IS WORTH GOOD THINGS

im gonna answer this like “how does the muse come about” kinda deal bc this question is weird

Belle: well her voice comes so easily to me i love it except it’s SO thinky. she is always who i write the longest posts on bc she just examines everything but i love it bc i so do not think like that but it opens my mind to interesting thought processes i haven’t explored myself before. though i also edit her the most bc her dialogue is SO HARD. it’s getting better tho as she gets more confident but it only takes one set back to go back to stuttering and holding her tongue.

Simba: gosh. i love his voice. it’s so COLORFUL. i can write simba all day because even in his darkest moments he is so BRIGHT and he feels everything so deeply. i love his background. i love writing about africa and islam and how he is bisexual and his race (but in the little things like how he has sensitive skin and likes movies like Hairspray lol). he’s really so different from me in so many ways, but he’s also an accumulation of like all the men in my life i’ve admired so he has a v special place in my heart.

Toulouse: gosh i love toulouse. idk his voice comes SO naturally to me. he is, without a doubt, the character i just instinctually know the best. i can’t even explain it but he just popped into my head completely formed. i knew everything about him almost immediately and even the things that came later just fell into place so easily. i just love him because he is so complicated and dynamic and feels so deeply while also having a really complicated relationship with those emotions. writing him is both frustrating bc he always makes the same mistakes, but very easy for me.

Bambi: ugh i love bam. he’s another one that i just loved from the start. i wanted him for so so long before i actually got him and he just mad sense to me. i love his shyness. i like writing his view of the world since he def has so much influence from books and movies and he thinks in like tropes a lot and i’ve never written like that before and it’s super fun.

Perdita: i love how concise she is. i love all the sharp language i get to use with her. how every sentence i feel like i hit the period mark really fiercely. every sentence is important and to the point. she doesn’t like meander and as someone with flowy writing it’s nice to be able to know that i can do shorter stuff.

Sweet: UGH i love the poetry to his voice. making him a poet was a great move on my part bc i just looooove it. i love his voice. how calm. how gentle. how wise. and beautiful tbh. also all his experience is really fun to write. he’s like a fully formed person.

 Maui: i think i mentioned this but what a BOY he is. i love it. i love being able to play with the line between saying shitty sexist things but not knowing they’re shitty and sexist and really being a (mostly) genuine person but not always kosher or PC or anything like that.

Hercules: im still getting used to his voice but i really like how much he curses lmao he is like FUCK FUCK FUCK in his head at all times and i love that bc he’s so soft and smol and it’s such a funny contrast. also i get to play with humor and irony a lot with him and that’s fun. hopefully i can do more allusions to mythology once i start working with his powers more and that’ll be fun

Attina: i love her OCD. i think it makes for really interesting writing because people with OCD repeat phrases and stuff a lot and always having to be hyperaware of her actions like--remembering she doesn’t like to touch people and remembering that she locks the door nine times and that she doesn’t eat food from public places. it just really plants me in her head every time i write her.

Akela: his connection to nature. tbh being able to play as a wolf im ngl. but also a LEADER that people RESPECT AND LISTen TO. also i love how his voice is sad but not depressingly so. so it makes it really interesting to write like balancing all that emotional with his cool, level-headness.

2. Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?

I have vague idea of what her parents were like and why they lost her/were separated, but for the most part I’m content not to follow those ideas at the moment and keep them a mystery. part of me feels like if Shepard doesn’t know them, maybe I don’t need to. if they come to me, they’ll come u know?

I do have a lot of ideas about what her life pre-enlistment was like, but the one person of note/other OC is the girl I’ve headcanoned as a sort of younger sister/ward. the reason I gave her a younger sibling at all is because to me, Shepard, throughout the trilogy when talking to victims or just around the crew, speaks and acts like a person who knows what it’s like to lose someone dear to them. in colonist backstory, this makes sense; you could headcanon in spacer backstory, maybe they lose their father or other parent; in earthborn, it could be their parents, but I always kind of rolled with the idea that Shepard lost them so early on that they had no memory of them, and had nothing to tie her to Earth once she enlisted. so the “who could an earthborn Shepard have lost?” question came to me, and I fell into this idea of her having looked out for someone younger, someone she saw herself as a protector of, and then losing that person due to her gang lifestyle (which she joined out of necessity to keep them both fed) is what drove her into the military out of grief.

tbh the more I think about this backstory for my Shep, the more nervous I get, because I don’t want it to seem I’m fridging the poor girl; her role in Lyd’s early years is one of the few reasons why she’s able to keep a sense of morality and purpose living on the streets. I tentatively named this kid Rou for no particular reason and pegged her about 12-13 when Lyd was 17, so Lyd saw herself as both older sister and mom to this kid for a certain period of time; it’s why she kind of fluctuates between a role of both caretaker and ‘older sibling’ on the Normandy, but shies away from any responsibility that hints at parental: she doesn’t want to fail someone that badly again, or like the way her parents failed her.

4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?

from the codex: “While every human enjoys longer and better life than ever, the gap between rich and poor widens daily. Advanced nations have eliminated most genetic disease and pollution. Less fortunate regions have not progressed beyond 20th century technology, and are often smog-choked, overpopulated slums.” so that really framed the mindset I was in while I was trying to determine what kind of person she, or anyone, would have to be to survive the streets of a future Earth like that.

12. What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?

finding a freaking facecast! do you know how many ~30yo chinese actresses with short hair there are that have worn military-esque uniforms or scifi space suits for the purposes of graphics? NOT MANY

writing her in prose, I guess. I can find her in meta, I can imagine her aesthetic in pinterest, I can find her in music, but I’m still having trouble writing her. probably because I’ve spent more time writing her from Garrus’s perspective more than hers?

14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?

she’s survived her entire life making something out of nothing. both in terms of scavenging, surviving, frugalness, etc, but also in her work in the military, eg scrounging victories and successes out of few resources and small crews. it’s kind of the only way she knows how to live; if she’s not struggling with something in some way, she starts getting on edge, like life is going too easy in the moment and a trap is about to spring.

she had to learn a lot of things on her own growing up, so the alliance was the first time she was viewed as a peer among people her age, and she had a lot of growing up to do around age 18-22. ict training was like the first place she was taught to be a moral person, not just someone efficient at what she does. so she stumbles a lot with being a good person and can make well-intentioned but still poor decisions in pursuit of that goal.

19. What is your favorite fact about your OC?

that she never gives up; that she’s able to effectively separate any personal feelings she might have (depression, discouragement, loss) in pursuit of finishing her goal; and things like asking for help, or needing extra time, or saying ‘no’ to someone who needs help, never really cross her mind. this is what I think makes her a good marine, and kept her alive long enough to become the person she is, but I also recognize it’s not always healthy because after living like that for so long, she forgets she’s also allowed to be a person with goals outside of her job. (I can write a little bit from personal experience here: when things get rough and stressful for me, the idea of ‘failing’ becomes a non-issue like it does for Shepard. like, the thought of not finishing my work/mission never crossing my mind and I will get it done, and I never ask for help or extensions. sometimes this is something I’m proud of, but other times it comes at the cost of my emotional health when it means all-nighters or weeks of stressful overworking.)

What's one thing you dislike about your Muse?

Mel: i honestly dont dislike anything about her. at all. i live for her mistakes, her meanness, her disregard for other people. like idk when i write mel i agree with her 100% i love her she's my destiny

Paul: Dialogue. Paul’s got something to say always-- it alwyas comes first and i  write to the dialogue or write around ti. 

Andrina: also dialogue but also the flexibility of her voice too. I like breaking rules with her and being playful with my punctuation so going into her brain is just a party for me as a microwriter 

Merida: her BRAVEry ahahhaha. but no really she’s one determined fucker. and its weird bc she’s righteous like nala but it doesnt annoy me as much no idea why maybe ti will come with time 

Mowgli: his VOICE also this is generally what draws me to characters if u havent noticed. and his story in general is just rich and full of interesting layers and HE is full of interesting layers which im excited to get to know better.
