To help keep my mind off of some of the depressing things in the world I decided to start watching/listening to Star Trek The Next Generation during my morning routine and commute

Although I wanted to try to start from the beginning and we know that the first season of TNG is... Rough

But hey I straight up haven't seen most of the episodes since I was in middle school so it might be worth it, I thought I might review how it's going

Encounter at Far point: Honestly, it's a solid pilot. Yeah it's pacing is very slow and there are some sequences that take way too long but it introduces us to the characters, the ship, and even some of the arcing thesis of the full show. It's solid scifi!

Naked Now: ... Rough... I mean... Ah this is definitely an episode that I havent seen since I was like 13 and back then a lot of stuff went over my head. There are lines that are straight up hilarious and lines that are incredibly cringy. Wesley is also such a little shit. I ended up having to let it play while I cleaned up after my cat in the next room

Code of Honor: This is the episode that is infamous for being racist. For those of you that don't know, there is a culture that developed a vaccine that the federation needs, they have strict customs and are very Honor bound, the leader kidnaps Tasha Yar and wants her for his second bride, this leads to a fight to the death, yada yada yada. The issue is that the culture is completely black people & costumes very much (racist-ly) inspired by traditional (west?) African clothes. There is a line in early on in the episode where Data implies to Picard that French/France is primitive which is honestly such a hilarious exchange; it makes me wonder if the episode could be fixed if we could just the entire culture just absurdly based on the French instead of West Africa (keep the honor code, kidnapping, and fight to the death, the French did plenty of that too)

The Last Outpost: This is the first time that we ever see a Ferengi and for this I think it's important to separate myself from how I know the Ferengi culture will eventually develop because it simply hasn't been developed yet. Another hilarious exchange starting with Data and ending on Worf saying "Who's Uncle Sam" which then becomes extra funny in thinking about Worf's back story added later on (of course my precious little Klingon autistic orphan raised by Russians have no clue who Uncle Sam is!) Scifi elements were interesting but nothing major to write home about

I think I'm more or less through the main "oof 1st season episodes" that I can think of but I may be forgetting some, there's gems here honestly.

I really love Misty's honesty here when being asked if she's a kind person, being quick to admit that she's not really that kind. Misty was so savage in the earlier seasons in the best way. The delivery of this line cracked me up so much too. RIP Rachael Lillis.

This has thrilled and slowed my heart in ways I didn't know could be done!A wonderful new way to understand a young, imbecilic Arthur. I mean, we all know what it's like, but maybe everyone has their own interpretation and this has been a very accurate one.Especially for portraying his growth in a stumbling way. Nothing in this life is just an upward or downward line. There are ups and downs and especially when we want to deconstruct ourselves there are many Gaps and setbacks.

Merlin is a charmer, he is also a very accurate form of the Merlin who came to Camelot Idealistic and moralistic as only a pure soul like him can be.But at the same time too young and immature to easily see the perspective of others.Fortunately he has the guidance of extraordinary people like Gwen and Morgana to clarify things for him. And he learns quickly and leaves his heart open because he is made of pure love.

Morgana and Gwen have been delightful in their intelligence and complicity They are the ones who will really bring Camelot to peace in this universe I'm sure lm The main advisors and legendary heroines

The plot itself takes advantage of several clichés in a rather fresh way, I appreciated it because I was in for more than one surprise, I expected something and received something even better.It's sweet, smooth and quite pleasant!

Watching all of the episodes in pokemon after a lot time (like a year) so I've forgotten most of the episodes. And I've completely forgotten how wild of a ride I have when watching The March of the Exeggutor Squad.

Like I always start it thinking Melvin is sweet, and I want to see the trio help him. He's pathetic but I want to see him succeed.

And then he accidently hypnotizes ash and ends up kidnapping him to force ash to battle for him.

I get such whiplash every time simply from Melvin going from "a little pathetic but he has the spirit" to "purposefully keeping ash hypnotized because he doesn't want to have to go battle exeggutor himself, of which he was only catching so he could hypnotize the world into watching his magic show"
