this is an excerpt from my first full screenplay. i wrote it when i was fifteen years old. although it is often dismissed by my peers and met with ridicule when i have shared it with them, i hold it close to my heart. i often find myself looking back on it fondly. it means a lot to me. i understand that most teenagers take zero interest in drama films about a man questioning the church and his faith as death approaches him, i do not take offence to their reactions. i feel only self-pity and sorrow, which i suppose is petty. was i supposed to be mature?
