Hearts Unmasked pt. ii - (Jack Dawson x f!OC)
Tumblr media
Fandom: Titanic
Warnings: None
Length: Short (603 words)
Pairing: Jack Dawson x f!OC
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eva made her way across the Titanic's deck, her skirt sweeping from side to side as she walked. Ever since the dance last night, she couldn't get the thought of Jack out of her head. Visions of him walking beside her appeared as if he was there. She brushed them off, thinking there was no way she had a crush on someone she just met.
She stopped in front of a door that read "Gallery". She didn't exactly know what kind of gallery to expect, but she entered anyways. Amongst the sea of people surrounding her, she thought she saw Jack. No, it couldn't be.
The pictures on the walls were of paintings from many famous artists. Eva looked up and saw a boat kind of like the Titanic. She smiled slightly and looked away from it, moving onto the next one. As she was approaching the third painting, she felt someone's hand on her shoulder. She slightly gasped and a pair of blue eyes met her.
"Jack?"
"Yes, I thought I saw you." he said. "I never caught your name last night..."
"Oh, I'm sorry, it's Eva." She replied, slightly blushing.
"Eva... what a beautiful name." Jack took her hand and led her to a corner of the room away from the people. He took out his sketchbook and flipped through the pages. Eva caught a glimpse of some of his drawings.
"You're a beautiful artist," she said, tapping on the paper.
Jack began to sketch and looked into her eyes. Then he looked back at the paper. "Thank you, I try my best to make a living off of my drawings."
Eva watched as the pencil lines on the paper became a face. Slowly, the face transformed to look very similar to hers.
"You drew me?" Eva asked him, lightly touching the paper.
"I always draw pretty faces," Jack smiled, looking at her. "How about we leave here?"
"Where did you have in mind?"
"I know a place."
Eva and Jack found themselves in Jack's room on the third class deck of the ship. She did not turn her nose up at the sight of his room, rather she found it very cozy. The ornate lamp and bedframe were beautifully crafted. Eva sat down at Jack's desk while he flopped onto his bed.
"So, how are you enjoying the voyage so far?" He asked her.
"It's been quite the experience." She said, laughing.
"I think so as well. Last night was very fun," he laughed with her.
Eva noticed him sit up on the bed as an invitation for her to join him.
"May I...?" she hesitantly asked him.
"Of course," he smiled, patting the bed beside him.
Eva stood up and gingerly walked to the other side of his bed. The third class beds were small in comparison to the second class ones. Eva picked up her skirt and sat down beside Jack. She never dreamed of being this close to him, let alone in this situation.
Jack placed an arm around her shoulders and stared at the wall across from the bed.
"I never thought this would happen, but yet this ship is called 'The Ship of Dreams'." Jack said.
Eva put her hand on his chest and let herself fall into his arm. She felt him put his other arm around her.
"I'm loving it though," she said softly.
Jack held her in a resting position as she breathed steadily. He made sure she was calm while rubbing light circles on her back.
"Good night Eva," he whispered.
"Good night Jack," she replied, drifting into a peaceful sleep.

Hearts Unmasked pt. i (Jack Dawson x f!OC)
Tumblr media
Name: Hearts Unmasked
Fandom: Titanic
Pairing: Jack Dawson x f!OC
Length: Short (405 words)
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
Set in 1912, day 1 of the Titanic's voyage.
Eva Hastings was a middle class woman with a soft heart and a niche for adventure. As soon as she caught wind of the Titanic setting sail on her maiden voyage, she instantly bought a ticket.
The day of the voyage arrived and Eva walked to the dock. Her eyes widened as she saw the metal hull towering over her. She took her bags and boarded the ship. The eloquently crafted handrails and architecture of the ship caught Eva's eye as she walked up the stairs to the top deck of the ship.
She carefully explored the Titanic's top deck, stopping frequently to jot ideas down in her notebook. She loved to write and the Titanic was perfect inspiration for it. As she passed the lifeboats, she began to count. While she was lost in thought about how many people the lifeboats could hold, she bumped into someone. He had light brown hair and sparkling eyes that caught her attention. They exchanged a brief "sorry" and Eva went on with her day. She secretly hoped she could meet him again.
After a long day of exploring, Eva decided to eat in the massive dining area. A violinist played an upbeat tune while a group of dancers swirled around her. She made her way to the opposite end of the room and sat down in a soft chair. She briefly closed her eyes and breathed in the smells and sounds of the dining room. When she opened her eyes, another pair of eyes met hers.
"What a beautiful night," he noted as he watched the dancers.
Eva said nothing, slightly blindsided by his sudden appearance. He smiled and offered her his hand. She took it with a grin and allowed him to lead her to the center of the dance floor. Eva's heart fluttered when he put an arm around her waist and danced with her. The lights of the room seemed to dim while they spun around. Eva looked into his eyes and slightly melted. She knew even if she never got his name, this moment would stay in her heart forever.
After the song ended, they returned back to Eva's seat.
"I never caught your name," Eva said.
"It's Jack," he responded with another wide smile.
"It was nice to meet you tonight," Eva said softly. "I hope we cross paths again soon."
"Me too..."

Slow Dance
Word Count: 1.2k
Warnings: None
Song: "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx
Extra Notes: None, but I wish this was reality
Tumblr media
It was the evening before prom and your heart was racing like crazy. You had never been so nervous but so excited before in your life. Everything you prepared - from your dress to your hairstyle - was for him.
After a huge fight broke out between your friend group, you realized that having a crush on a close friend was not the way to go. Your feelings faded for your close friend but flared up soon after for a guy in your favorite class. Every day, you dreamed of talking to him or hanging out with him. Everything from his hair to the way he held himself was perfect.
You knew he didn't like you back - I mean, it's common knowledge. Everyone at school knew who he liked and they were not afraid to tell you that. You brushed off those people and continued pining over him. Admittedly, you did start talking to him more in the past couple of weeks after getting his phone number. Now, the moment came - prom. You wanted to ask him but thoughts of him rejecting you filled your mind. You decided to ask him to slow dance if you saw him there.
The day of prom was going at a faster pace than you expected. You asked someone to do your hair in a pretty style, which to you looked very nice. Your dress was in perfect condition without any wrinkles. Your friend offered to take pictures of you in your dress and you agreed. While posing on a bench, you couldn't help but dream about him beside you putting an arm around you. You thought about him the rest of day leading up to that night and how you were going to ask him to slow dance. Would you pull him aside during the song? Would you ask him before you even walked in the building? Oh well, you'd find out when you got there.
When you arrived at the school, your eyes immediately sweeped the place for him. You spotted a bunch of other people through the flashing strobe lights and fog machines, but not him. You sighed and thought maybe he would arrive late. Your friends called you over to dance and you did. When the lights dimmed for the first slow song, you sat down at a table and softly sang along. You didn't have a date after all. You scanned the room again for your crush but came up short.
Halfway through prom, they announced the king and queen. The lights were all on at this time and everyone surrounded the catwalk. Your crush was nowhere to be seen. At this point, you assumed he didn't come to prom. Afterwards, you went home feeling dejected. The dark road was calming to you as opposed to the flashing lights at the school. You turned the radio off and drove in silence to your house. After that, you decided to text him. It wouldn't hurt to, would it?
"Hey, I didn't see you at prom tonight. Is everything okay?" you sent.
"Yeah, I decided not to go. I would just be third wheeling anyways." he sent back, not even a couple minutes later. He usually responds hours later.
Suddenly, a thought struck your mind. What if you were able to slow dance with him after all?
"I know it's late, but do you want to hang out? Prom was boring and I didn't have much fun..." you sent, waiting for a reply.
"You know what? Why not. Send me the location and I'll meet you there," he replied. Your heart skipped a beat and you smiled. You sent him your address and waited for him to arrive.
About twenty minutes later, he came dressed up in a suit. You didn't expect him to dress up but you could feel yourself slowly getting weak. He looked so handsome and you couldn't believe he was here, at your house.
"Let's go over here!" You smiled and led him to your backyard, where a small gazebo sat. It was made out of wood and had fairy lights wrapped along the pillars. There was a bench inside - the same one that you posed on earlier. Your crush smiled at the gazebo.
"I know you're probably tired right now, but I invited you here for a reason," you started.
"It's okay, just tell me," he stood beside you, looking at you and smiling.
"I wanted to slow dance with you," you sure were blunt about it.
"Oh! That was... unexpected," he said. Your heart dropped. You felt like it shattered on the floor when he said that.
"You don't have to. I just wanted to offer," you said, trying not to let the hurt in your voice show.
"No no, it's not like that. It's just... I've never been asked to dance before. That's all," he said, trying to comfort you. "I would love to."
Your heart slowly repaired itself after he spoke those last words. He did want to slow dance after all. You took your phone, searched for a song, and placed it on the railing of the gazebo. A few seconds later, "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx started playing.
You took your crush's hand in yours and led him up the stairs to the inside of the gazebo. You smiled softly as the song reached the first verse.
Oceans apart, day after day
And I slowly go insane
"Do you know how to slow dance?" you asked him. He nodded and put one arm on your hip and the other on your shoulder. You matched his movements and began to lightly sway. It was this moment you realized what it felt like to be loved. Even though he did not like you, the gesture was enough to feel something.
Wherever you go, whatever you do
I will be right here waiting for you
Whatever it takes or how my heart breaks
I will be right here waiting for you
The moon shined down on the gazebo as you slow danced. You smiled and he pulled you closer. You glanded up at his eyes and found yourself getting lost in the reflection of the fairy lights. He looked so handsome and his smile slowly melted you. The bridge of the song played and you softly sang along.
"Oh, can't you see it, baby?
You've got me goin' crazy"
Your crush laughed slightly and you could see his pupils dilate. You could tell he was having fun. The song ended and you broke apart.
You sat down on the bench and tapped the place beside it, inviting him to sit with you. He sat down beside you and put an arm around you. If you could physically melt, you would have been a puddle on the ground by now. You put your head on his shoulder and sighed softly while looking out into the darkness of the night. The stars scattered across the sky and a shooting star passed through the shining night.
"Make a wish..." you whispered.
"I wish... for this night to never end. I enjoyed this a lot," he responded. You could feel the vibration of his voice from your position.
"I second that," you said, closing your eyes. He lightly hummed and rubbed circles on your back.
At that point, you felt true peace.

A Glint of Happiness
Word Count: 835 words (Short)
Warnings: None
Song: "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" by Journey
Extra Notes: This was based off an event that happened in real life. I miss it and I'm writing this as a way to let go of my past. Also, in this case, boyfriend = situationship.
Tumblr media
Tasha walked into work with a heavy feeling hanging over her head as she made her way to the timeclock to punch in. She was leaving to go to Canada for a week, and that meant she would be away from home for a while. She was excited to go to Canada, but she was sad that she would not see her boyfriend, Alex, at work anymore. Their time was already limited, since she would be leaving as he would be coming in for work. They still managed to make time to talk in the five minutes they saw each other every day.
Tasha punched in and walked onto the dock, preparing herself for the massive number of boxes coming down the conveyor belt. As she began loading, thoughts of her boyfriend filled her head. She imagined them talking before she had to leave, and them going on small dates and hanging out. She shut her eyes for a second to process those daydreams before grabbing more boxes to sort. Those thoughts always calmed her down.
Towards the end of the shift, she was anxiously eyeing the door to see if he would walk in. 8:00... 8:15... 8:30... still nothing. She knew he worked that day, so he couldn't have been too far away. Her manager told her that she was free to go and she tried to hold back tears. She would be gone for a week and she wouldn't even be able to say one last goodbye. She took a deep breath and nodded, grabbing her water bottle and clocking out.
As she went through security and walked outside, she passed him walking in while he was talking to his boss. If only I was released two minutes earlier... she thought. She looked back for a second and saw him walk in. She slowly walked to her car and got inside. Her breathing was uneven and she wanted to cry on the spot. She looked up and saw Alex running towards her car, and her face lit up. He gave a big smile and opened her passenger side door and got in.
"I didn't know if it was your last week here. I didn't want you to leave because I wanted to give you what you wanted." he said, his eyes shining.
"Not yet, though I am going to Canada all of next week, so you won't see me at all," Tasha said sadly. As she said that, she was slightly fidgeting with her phone.
"Oh... right..." he said, looking down. He noticed her hands moving and moved his hand to interlace his fingers with hers.
Tasha, who had never held hands before, gave him a surprised look. She then smiled and said "This feels nice..." He didn't know it, but her heart was pounding and her brain felt like it was short circuiting.
"I noticed you were nervous and I found that holding hands can help transfer some of my energy to you," Alex said, smiling.
"It really did help... I just don't want to go home yet. I want to stay here with you." Tasha said, looking at him. His eyes sparkled again.
"I know... I'll miss this a lot when you leave for school," he said, pulling her in for a hug. He wrapped his arms around her and she did the same, her heart exploding with love. She reached up and started rubbing light circles on his back, feeling all of his muscles.
He rubbed her back as well, and she felt another wave of calm wash over her. She positioned her head in the crook of his neck and hummed lightly. He moved his head to the side and began kissing her neck. He started out slow, from the bottom to the top, right under her ear. He then went faster, giving her all the affection she had been missing for the past 2 years of her life.
Tasha smiled and closed her eyes, taking in all of the kisses. She began pulling away but he took her arms and pulled her in to the other side and kissed her neck again. He was really enjoying it and so was she. He finished and they both looked at each other, big smiles on their faces.
"One more time?" he asked.
"Yes, I still don't want to leave," Tasha said, her smile getting wider.
He pulled her in for another hug and they sat there for a minute, just taking in each other's company and scents. This was the happiest Tasha ever felt in her life. She felt loved, seen, and that life was actually going right for once. They pulled away and Alex gave her one last kiss on the cheek and told her to text him when she got home.
She watched as Alex walked back into the warehouse, not knowing that this would be one of the last good memories she had with him before the butterfly effect kicked in a month later.

Hello everyone! I'm back from a very long hiatus (I forgot this account existed) and life has finally caught up to me after experiencing more than enough canon events. I plan on writing more often now than before!
I am thinking of continuing Hearts Unmasked, though I have fallen out of that fandom after some time. If you have any requests, feel free to drop them in the dropbox! I am currently not hyperfixating on anything, so whatever I write may just be based off the canon events.
I hope everyone has/is having a great night/day!
