Fire Shup Up In My Bones

The The Metropolitan Opera will be presenting Terence Blanchard’s #FireShutUpInMyBones ~ a new opera, premiered this summer at Opera Theater St. Louis. This will be the first opera by a black composer ever presented at The Met. The production could come to New York as soon as the 2021-22 season, with support from the Ford Foundation. It would be conducted by The Met’s music director, Yannick Nezet-Seguin.

Synopsis by @operatheatrestl: One moment can change everything. When Charles discovers that his cousin has returned to his Louisiana hometown, he races home from college to confront his past. Memories and shadows surround Charles as he strives to move beyond a cycle of violence and forge a brave new path. Terence Blanchard, composer of OTSL’s sold-out hit Champion, teams up with screenwriter Kasi Lemmons (Eve's Bayou) for a haunting, powerful, and tender coming-of age story inspired by a memoir celebrated as "stunning" (Essence), "riveting" (Chicago Tribune), and "exquisite" (The New York Times).

Today my phone went dead and my bus pass is on it...

I went to register for my classes(one class was cancelled). I’m still a little mad about that. I chose another class that helps as well so cool beans and tomatoes. So as I do all of that I leave and catch the bus back downtown. My phone was on 10% the last time I checked (no I didn’t bring my charger). I cut it off before I got downtown and had it off until my bus to get home came… Thinking that cutting my phone off helps keep charge it will be fine right. WRONG!!!! I cut it back on to show my pass to the driver and as soon as I get it on the screen it pops up “1% Connect to Charger”… I’m like idk I’m going home. I turn it around to show to the driver and he says “ its not there” I say “what!?” Turned it around and it cut off I said fuck!!! He didn’t let me ride the bus. I was pissed. I had to hop on the train and was gonna walk the rest of the way. (Know that i have never took this route before because i prefer the bus let me off right across from where i live). Didn’t know which way was the right way to walk. After realizing that the bus that goes down the street from my place was coming from the opposite way. I turned around and waited for the bus and asked if i could get a ride down the way. Thank god she was blessed with the MELANIN. I sat my ass on that air conditioned bus and rode it all the way down. Said thank you sister and got off the bus. The struggle was real today.
