Ooh! So does the parasite’s behavior vary depending on its host? Or did it fall in love with Wukong on its own? Also is each individual bullet from the gun its own parasite? Or is it the same one each time?

Sorry for so many parasite questions I’m just absolutely fascinated by this AU

1) Yes the parasite's behavior varies depending on its host, sometimes mimicking the host's personality or having its own behavior.

2) Well it's complicated-? It's more so the parasite fell in love because Macaque still loves Wukong, but the parasite has more of "I LOVE YOUUU!" rather than "...I love you..." Like Macaque's, ya know? Pretty hard to explain for this one-

3) Yes each bullet is its own parasite but moreso with the same objective in mind, that is to make the host fall in love with the first person it sees.

What do you think Jaren Ward's relationship with Dregen Yor was before he, well, became Dregen Yor? I've always had the head canon that a big part of why Jaren lost was because he was caught off guard when he realized Yor was actually Rezzyl Azir, that maybe they were friends, or at least knew each other.

While I can see the appeal of Drama™ potential in case they had some story together in the past, I don't think there was any. Obviously they knew each other, but all old noticeable Risen knew/heard of each other back then, and Rezyl was quite famous. So they probably crossed paths before, but weren't friends - I'm sure if they knew each other even relatively well, Shin would've mentioned it, it would've been quite important for their whole story. Personally, I think it's better this way - in terms of the story, it's all about Shin and Yor's confrontation, Jaren's role in it is to give Shin enough motivation to kill Yor in the end. Also, if they were friends, it paints Jaren in a bit weird light, which I can't say I like. How I see Jaren, if something like that happened to one of his friends, he would've definitely tried to find and stop him, doing whatever it takes in the process (which probably would've ended with his death sooner). I can't see him chilling in a nice village for years, while one of his old friends is running around mass murdering innocent people. It makes him look as either a coward or an ignorant asshole, and I can't see Jaren as any of these 😅

As to why Jaren couldn't kill him - I think it's because he quite literally couldn't. Even perfectly landed, mere bullets could not harm Yor, and there was no Golden Gun back then. Even if it was, I doubt a regular fireshot would've been enough. It was Shin's determination, rage and thirst for revenge that truly killed Yor, it worked that well because it was deeply personal. He was shooting with his heart, not his hand, so to speak; that's how I understood it.

But that's just my opinion, of course! There's plenty of room for interpretations, headcanons and possibilities for AU variations in that story, part of why I love it so much.

Or they were leading the forces in the opposite direction of their master, to assure he wouldn’t get caught in the crossfire a second time.

“My family has done business in Inazuma for years! But looks like things have changed.” He straightens up finally, adjusting his robes and finding a place to hide his vision among them. “Thanks again, I’m Kalim Al-Asim! I’m a merchant from Sumeru.” And the oasis maker, a very high position in the country - but he’ll leave that out.
