Do you have any recommendations for Ahsoka Tano time travel fics? I really enjoy all the ones you've written and I'd love to read more like them. The King, the Soldier, and the Spy is probably my favorite :)

Obviously this is non-exhaustive because fandom is BIG but here's five:

Living in Borrowed Time by smug_albatross (@scribbling-albatross) - My absolute favorite Ahsoka time-travel fic, no question, and one I've recced several times 😅. This fic did a lot to influence my readings of Rex and Ahsoka, both as people and in relation to each other, and I highly recommend it. This story really hits the spot for characterization that's within the realm of 'realism' (as much as such can apply to a Star Wars context) while still pushing in the direction of something interesting happening. It's also got a perspective I really appreciate when it comes to Anakin, because it's very clear that the POV characters don't trust him and for good reason, because some of those seeds are already there... but most aren't, and he's trying hard to be a good person and he's genuinely confused and hurt about these people, who are so important to him, not trusting him anymore.

Realign the Stars by CrystalRainsWriting, TerinAngel (@terinangel) - Abandoned, unfortunately, but very fun. Ahsoka is far from alone in her time-travel (Obi-Wan, Anakin, Rex, and Cody all go too), but her view on events and the way she interacts with the original timeline characters is great, and unique even among the variety of characters in the story.

Of Queens, Knights, and Pawns by chancecraz (@chancecraz) - This is primarily a Leia fic, but Ahsoka is considered a time-traveler by some metrics, due to Malachor. It's not quite the same thing, but the vibes are close enough that I feel comfortable recommending it.

Tano and Kenobi by FireflyFish - Depending on your opinions of a specific character, this is YMMV. Ahsoka and Obi-Wan are, as a general rule, a delight, and I enjoy their interactions immensely. However, if you like Qui-Gon and consider him a flawed but fundamentally good person (which, you follow me, so probably), this might not be the fic for you.

Although He Smiles by AutumnChild22 (HonestlyHelen) (@autumnchild22) - Unlike most of what I've recced here, Ahsoka is not time-traveling from the Rebels era, but rather from TCW to TPM. (It's also the one and only AU that I've encountered that convinces me there's potential in Ahsoka/Obi-Wan as a time-travel ship, even if the fic is very ambiguous on the nature of that relationship.)

I've fallen back into the Star Wars rabbit hole and, dear lord, finding prequel era fic that doesn't a) blame the Jedi for their own genocide, b) make Knight/Padawan Skywalker an unlikable asshole that nobody likes, c) treat the clone troopers as unimportant, or d) make Satine Kryze into a comically incompetent/evil bitch is near impossible.

Tano and Kenobi by FireflyFish on AO3 is obviously amazing but if I reread it again I'm in serious danger of memorizing it.

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

ooo probably my Star Wars fanfic idea. It's about Rey going back in time (a staple in SW fic lmao) to like just after Episode 1, when Anakin's still a kid. It'd just take so much like research and shit. Like I've got solid SW knowledge, but I'd want that fic to be as accurate as possible and tbh I don't want to put that work in 😅

oh so many! The entire Jedi!Shmi AU series by @mandaloriandy, Tano and Kenobi by @fireflyfish, and Love Thy Neighbor by puppybusby are some that I go back to repeatedly

3. Favorite line/scene you wrote this year

I couldn’t pick just one, so I chose two. XD First from Am Bushed, this was actually one of the clearest images I had in my head when I started writing it:

Barely a blink later he flopped unceremoniously across Obi-Wan’s lap.      

“Anakin!” he squawked, nearly fumbling the data pad in his hand, “What do you think you’re doing?”  When no response appeared forthcoming, he prodded insistently at the younger man’s shoulder.  “Anakin!”  

Most of the nearby brothers tried to be subtle in their stares; neither Ahsoka nor Rex bothered.

After another moment of—frustrating, to Obi-wan—silence, eyes still closed, Anakin raised a finger and pressed it to his lips.  “Shh, Master, I’m sleeping.”

Obi-wan looked very much like he wanted to put his hands on his hips, brow furrowed disapprovingly.  “And you felt the need to use me as a pillow…why?”

“Well, Master,” he spoke clearly, voice deceptively serene as he gave a little wiggle, turning his face toward the fire, “I hear this is the way padawans make sure their masters get the rest they need.”  He opened one eye only to wink it at Ahsoka, then closed it again.

Beside Rex, Ahsoka stiffened in embarrassment, hand paused with her spoon half way to her mouth.

Beneath Anakin, Obi-Wan sputtered.  “You are not a padawan anymore!”

“No,” Anakin chuckled, crossing his legs at the ankle as he laced his hands behind his head, “I’m much heavier.”  

 And then one from the modern beauty vlogger AU, Because You’re Worth It; Ben is bringing Anakin home to meet his three big dogs for the first time:

With a soft chuckle he stepped back, waving the other man in as he opened the door wide.  Anakin had barely crossed the threshold when Ben felt the hurried jostling against his legs, saw fluffy tails wagging furiously as his dogs swarmed forward to greet the new person.  Laughter filled the entryway as Anakin was prodded by cold, curious noses and tentative paws.  “Hello, boys…” he murmured, leaning down to bury his hands in soft fur.  

“The handsome fellow you have your hands on now,” Ben informed him, “is Wolffe.”  

Anakin looked down at the dog’s face and found himself grinning, pressed a kiss to the scar over his eye.  “Oh, of course,” he nodded seriously.

“To your left, is Sinker,” gesturing to the dog with gray throughout his face, Ben explained, “he digs.”  Anakin shifted his attention to the dog in question, ruffling his scruff.  “And to your right is Boost,” Ben continued, nodding toward the dog with brown markings above his eyes, “He—” Demonstrating before Ben could finish Boost hopped up, catching Anakin’s shoulder and dropping him to his knees.  “Jumps,” he finished weakly, “Boost!”

“It’s alright!” Anakin called, already hidden by the enthusiastic huskies now that he was on the ground.  He was laughing again and Ben could hear someone excitedly lapping at his face. “I’m good!”  

21. Most memorable comment/review

I’ve gotten a couple of long, in-depth reviews this year and one where a person mentioned re-reading the fic, and those all meant the world to me.

But I also really love the flaily ones. :D Recently, I got one that just said “...KIIIIIIISSS!” After a particularly UST-y chapter, and I was really thrilled to have caused that. XD

24. Favorite fic you read this year

Aah, this is so hard! Not counting re-reads from before this year, I’ve read so many that I love—but I’ve really been enjoying the stuff that little_tales has been writing, most especially Home. It’s a time travel fix-it and has a lot of notes from the ‘never found’ trope without quite being that. I’m loving seeing the differences in dynamics between the characters (some of which even make me like canon characters that I don’t normally enjoy), and I adore “accidental sugar daddy” Obi-wan. I’m really interested to see where it’s going! :D

Ahsoka is my favorite jedi. I also wanted to take another stab at color. I was gonna draw her with her Fulcrum outfit (which I really didn't want to do) but remembered in this fic she actually wears something closer to he standard jedi robes for the most part.

If nothing else, i think #5 is worth getting!  I’ve enjoyed the whole book (though, I also think it’d be fine to wait for the trade version) but I think this is the issue that’s worth it the most, where it really nailed what it wanted to say.  It’s a little dependent on what’s come before (his fight with the reclusive Jedi especially) but not so much that it wouldn’t still have impact. This issue, the Phasma novel, and the young Leia novel are all really worth getting, I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE THEM ALL.
