Modern AU careers for the Gaang

Aang: elementary school teacher and stay-at-home dad when his kids are growing up. He makes for a splendid househusband for Katara when he doesn't have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Katara: lawyer who runs a legal clinic and an outspoken activist. She was studying for medicine, but she pulled an Elle Woods when Sokka told her she was too "girly" for Harvard Law. Zuko: kind of specific but he drops out of Wharton to become a firefighter, and I'm undecided on whether it's during his bachelor's or MBA. (He also totally did DECA as a high school student but never got past state level). Sokka: engineer who went to a huge college (MIT or Caltech) when nobody expected him to. He's either a civil engineer or an aeronautical engineer. Toph: blind martial artist is the most obvious one, but I raise you: concert pianist. The former is more in character but the latter just cracks me up because the best pianist I know is blind. Suki: Olympic-level athlete in a solo sport measured on performance. So she'd be into running, pole vault, javelin, something along those lines. I think running is the most likely. Sokka is her biggest fan. Bonus: Mai: goes to the same college as Zuko for cybersecurity/informatics, but drops out at the same time as him. She works a day job as a florist and does freelance work as a white collar hacker. Ty Lee: an actual circus performer in the Cirque du Soleil. All her sisters are either doctors, lawyers, or engineers. Azula: has a high position in whatever business Ozai is running and is poised to be his heir. Post-redemption starts one of the most bougie but affordable bakeries in the world.

Today my team and I took the plunge for Special Olympics Gaston County, and with help from the Gaston College Campus Police and Gaston County Sheriff Office, we raised over $1,000 for my local Special Olympics program.

I love the idea of Bruce Wayne keeping his children secret like on those fanfics where nobody knows Tony Stark has another child other than Morgan???

I have already talked about this, but is like the whole fostering and adopting his children was super top secret and all the cps that knew about them were like super well paid. So the only ones that are publicly know (since the assosiation with batman in their public personas could be lesser AND they either wanted to be public or didn't have another choice) are Tim and Damian.

(All the other children of Bruce are still his children, but Dick didn't want people to know about him due to MANY things, Jason was super scared, Cass hated the idea of everyone knowing her before she was ready. All of them were more complex but wth).

Tim's parents were very publicly dead. He was also bery publicly Bruce's intern/heir and somewhat board member?? Bruce adopted him that very moment, and everyone tought "well, that's fine, it was prob. a financial move" but still was like "better not???" So they had to say that he took care of Tim when his parents were out of the country (which kinda true but kinda not...) and even showed photos of 14yr old Tim in the manor (he is 16-17 in this moment)

AND THEN, came Damian. He was insisten in being shown, since he was the blood child and kinda weird and insecure so Bruce gave him the pleasure and ALL of Gotham was like omg your actions are catching up on you and Bruce, to prevend Damian from being bullied and called a bastard son (which is only important if you are rich and famous and as man eater and womanizer as brucie) had to say that, in fact, he was married when damian was concived.

(This was, ofc, a whole other drama. Bcuz he was never, ever publiclly married, yet there is paperwork and blurred photos, etc. And Bruce still keeps the rings (talia left hers too) so...)

Anyways, so then lets say a couple of years have passed. Both of Bruce's children are grown up and Tim is fully into the W.E. bussiness + whatever else he wants to do, same with damian. And then one day the three of them are talking in front of some w.e. emplyees or at a gala or sum and Bruce, acting like a father (which he only does when his children are right in frontal of him) is all like "can any of you call your brother X/sister and tell them..." and everyone is like 😧😧😧😧😧

And then people say he has like a little child now, that this, that, etc. And it's really like... olympic golden metal winner Dick grayson (or professor from blud d.g., or policeman from blud d.g., or firefighter d.g., or detective d.g.,) or super ballerina cassandra w. (which, ok, Wayne is not THAT common) or some random man from the low sides of gotham that is either a) a mob boss or 2) a teacher or some letters major

ok i’ve seen people say a million things regarding what percy jackson will do for his career. and the truth is, as of right now, we don’t know. but i have recently (as of yesterday) become pretty convinced of one thing: percy would hate being a marine biologist. it’s too much collecting samples, working in a lab, reporting findings, doing research - all of which percy would hate. he needs something with more action. our boy, with his hero complex and desire for purpose, needs to be helping people/animals on a daily. i’ve seen aquatic veterinarian, rescue diver, firefighter, all of which seem much more up his alley. maybe he’d do a mix of things. but i really don’t know

Maya sips her coffee sitting in the middle of the table with Carina at one end and her brother, Andrew at the other as they enjoy their breakfast. The conversation shifted to Andrew’s first day at work.

“Wait so you didn’t correct them when they thought you were an attending? I’m not judging I’m just…no I’m judging just a little bit.” Maya says honestly causing Caring to laugh, “Don’t be mad, I tell people what their doing wrong for a living.”

Andrew chuckles amused, “I don’t blame you. None of them actually called me an attending when I came from the scene. I told them it was my first day and they took it and ran with it. I was busy with the traumas, and it probably didn’t help that I stalled college for four years and looked older than the rest of my class.”

“It didn’t help no.” Maya eats a piece of the French toast that causes her to moan at the deliciousness, “Okay that is better than sex.”

Carina scoffs at that with a smile, “That sounds like a challenge.”

Andrew chuckles lightly at how predictable his sister, “And now I lost my appetite.”

Carina rolls her eyes and tells Maya, “Pay no attention to him, he’s skittles when it comes to sex because he isn’t having any.”

Maya chuckles and corrects her, “It’s skittish, skittles is candy.”

“And my sister’s insult turned around on her, this is a good morning so far.” He says with a grin sipping his coffee and continues to talk to Maya, “So a female fire captain that is very impressive I’m sure your coworkers love you over there.”

Maya groans, “Not at first but then they eventually saw my leadership skills after a few bumps and a bear in the road.”

“She told me about that too, she said it was at the pit where she first saw you. She was with a patient, and you were carrying a nose you ran with from the woods at the time. I gotta say it sounds really badass.” Andrew says impressed.

Maya smiles at that compliment, “Well thank you, it was pretty badass. I also helped contain a bomb inside a hospital and delivered a baby during a blizzard but I’m not bragging.”

Carina grins, “It sounds like you are, and I was the one who helped you deliver that baby, without me calling you you would have dropped that little girl on her head.” Andrew laughs at that with Maya smiling knowing it’s true.

“I don’t do well with babies, not all of us have to deliver them from vaginas. Firefighters are usually trained to put out fires and break down doors with axes but that part I leave to you guys.” Maya points out.

“I guess it’s not a requirement for the Olympics either?” Andrew asks jokingly.

“No.” Maya says, “And if it was, I would probably be dead last which would be a first in my life.”

“I would win the gold.” Carina boasts causing her brother and girlfriend to laugh.

Maya’s phone beeps causing her to groan, “I gotta go my shift starts, I’m so sorry.”

Andrew shakes his head, “Don’t worry go save lives.”

“You too, it was really nice to meet you.”

Andrew grins, “It was really nice meeting you too. I can see why you’re the longest relationship my sister has ever had but it wouldn’t take much time to exceed the standard she set before you.”

Carina grins amused, “Again please ignore him.” Carina stands up as Maya approaches her and they kiss, “Be safe Bella.”

“You too.” Maya steps back and looks at the siblings with a grin, “I’ll see you both later?”

Andrew nods with a smile, “Absolutely, I would love to hear more about this baby in a blizzard and bomb in a hospital story.”

Maya chuckles, “I have plenty more stories to tell and hopefully more time to share them.” Maya leaves with an I love you to Carina who says it as well. The door closes as Maya leaves and the DeLuca’s are left in the apartment where Carina looks at her brother with an anxious look while he finishes his breakfast calmly.

“Well…?” Carina asks, causing him to look up.

“Well, what?”

Carina gives a ‘really?’ look at her idiot brother, “Did you like her?”

“Oh…she was okay.” Andrew says dismissively causing Carina to smack him with the dish towel over him teasing her. He chuckles and speaks seriously, “I like her, I really do she has my approval not that you need it but still. She is perfection as you said.”

“I know.” Carina states with a smile and does a little happy dance, her brother chuckles, “I’m really glad you two met.”

Andrew smiles, “Me too. I’m really happy for you.”

“Thank you, that means a lot to me…and you’ll be happy too Andrea.” He looks up surprised she’s turning this on him, “Just give it time.”

He sighs but nods gratefully, “Thanks…Do you have anymore of that toast?”

Carina chuckles at her brother’s hungry attitude but heads to the kitchen to serve him another slice happy the two most important people of her life finally met and love each other almost as much as she loves them.

The anon post about Killer with his son got me thinking about the time when I reluctantly held my niece for the first time and how Kid might be with that situation. The dialogue is somewhat based off that experience.

Kil: "Do you want to hold him?"

Kid: "Uh, sure."

Kid's shown how to position his arms and support the baby's head before his "nephew" is handed over.

Kil: " Try to stay calm and relaxed. Babies can pick up on that."

Kid: "Okay..." *tries to relax his shoulders a little, looks down at the baby's sleeping face.*

It's so tiny, he realizes. He tries to be as soft and genuine as possible with his voice despite how ridiculous he feels

Kid: "Hi there, it's nice finally meet you."

The baby starts to fuss

Kid: "Okay, uh, what do I do?"

Kil: "Try rocking him a little, it might help."

Kid stands and gently rocks the baby, softly cooing before deciding that shutting up and rocking in silence is better. It works for awhile, he smiles to himself over his small accomplishment not realizing that his picture is being taken.

Kil: *with Kids phone in hand* "See, you've got this."

The baby starts to fuss even more then starts to cry.

Kid: *slowly starts to panic* "Okay, uh, can can I give him back? Please."

The baby is returned to his father and Kid looks through his camera roll while the baby is tended to

Kid: "Dude, how many photos did you take of me?"

Kil: "Enough for you to show off and brag about to your buddies at work."

Kid: *selects all except for one while grumbling under his breath* "Yeah, no. I have an image to uphold and storage space to keep on hand I'm not doing that."

He sends all the selected photos to the Cloud to be stored, in case the one on his phone gets lost. He'll show that one if people ask, but he doesn't want to be seen as a person who takes a bunch of photos because they're obsessed with their family or something.

Bonus Scene:

A week later, Kid casually watches a YouTube video about how to properly install a car seat from a retired firefighter and then another video about infant CPR out of curiosity. Now his YouTube recommendations are mostly full of videos about child safety.

"What the fuck! It was just two videos! This algorithm sucks." 🤦

Kid kind of incidentally learning about cpr for the little ones, reminds me of how I fell into the pool when I was like 3 or something super young.

My mom froze up in a panic and my uncle dove into the pool like some kind of olympic swimmer. I didn't end up needing cpr, but the idea that Kid springs into action before the kid even goes fully under water and has them back onto dry land just stuck in my mind ^_^

Untitled WIP for Virgil's birthday

"You're sure you've got everything?" Gordon asked as he passed Virgil his suitcase. "Got your toothbrush?"

"Yes, Gordon." Virgil replied, sliding the green suitcase into Tracy One's baggage compartment. Virgil was now ready to leave Tracy Island to attend the biggest Firefighter and First Responders gathering of the year.

"Deodorant?" Gordon continued.

"Yes."

"Extra underwear?"

"I have a sufficient amount to last the week, Gordon," Virgil replied while restraining himself from rolling his eyes. Logistics were one of his specialties for goodness' sake. You would think he knew how to pack a suitcase for a week-long trip.

A smirk appeared on Gordon's face. He leaned in closer and whispered in Virgil's ear. "Condoms?"

"GORDON!" While there were very few taboo discussion subjects between the brothers, the blond was very close to crossing a line here.

"What?" Gordon held up his hands trying to look innocent. "I've been to the Olympics, remember? I know what kind of funny business happens backstage at these events. The Olympic Village was not a kid-friendly place, let me tell you…"

Virgil sighed, trying not to think of Gordon's involvement in those backstage activities. He slammed the baggage hold door shut and he and Gordon walked toward the hangar entrance, where a few family members were waiting to see him off.

"All I'm saying is that you need to be prepared. You might meet someone and…"

"I'm not going there for a hookup, Gordon." Virgil defended.

"I know, I know. You're going to learn new firefighting techniques, to network with other first responders to allow better collaboration in the field and to improve IR public image." Gordon recited what he had heard Virgil say at least a hundred times in the past month.

"Exactly." Virgil smiled, happy that he hasn't been talking to thin air when explaining the purpose of this trip.

"And also…to fanboy all over Kip Harris for a week."

'Guilty as charged.' Virgil internally admitted. But how could you blame him? His childhood idol had asked him to be a Guest of Honor at one of the world's biggest firefighter conference. Anyone would be excited to spend a week socializing with the best in their field of work.

Seeking WLW plots on Discord!

I only write wlw plots and am seeking writing partners 21+ (preference for 25+) to play out some of the following ideas:

Athlete faces! I've been on a big woso and olympics kick and would love to use athlete FCs or just play out athletic-themed plots. I'd especially love an enemies/competitors to lovers plot

Supernatural plots, mainly vampires, werewolves, succubi, and demons!

Single moms falling in love, or a single mom and their kid's teacher

Wild age gaps, the more toxic the better!

First responders, give me your firefighters, EMTS, doctors, etc. No cops tho

Musicians, give me bands and backup dancers, messy behind-the-scenes drama

Childhood best friends reconnecting and falling in love, anything unrequited

I'm not limited to these and am really just seeking semi-consistent writing partners for all things sapphic!
