Seven (+) Sentence Sunday
Tagged by @jeeyuns, @elvensorceress, @alyxmastershipper, @rogerzsteven, @hippolotamus, @loserdiaz, @exhuastedpigeon, @devirnis, @disasterbuckdiaz, @wikiangela and @giddyupbuck Thank you all so much! Very much looking forward to all your upcoming works!
Don't need to say too much for this snippet. Here is more NFL Buck.
“Okay now that is a beautiful man.” Chimney remarks, interrupting the same argument about the firefighter calendar that’s been going around the firehouse for days. Hen’s gaze follows Chimney’s, and wow. Yea, she may not be into dudes, but the man currently pulling on a standard LAFD shirt in the locker room is drop dead gorgeous. “Where’s the lie and I like girls.” Hen comments. Bobby laughs, “That’s Eddie Diaz. The transfer from Houston I was telling you about a couple weeks ago. Former army medic, has a silver star and a few good years under his belt working fire and rescue.  He likes to be called 8-pack.” Chimney chokes on a laugh beside Hen and she couldn’t stop her smirk, “I think your chances for the calendar just drastically dropped.” Bobby rolled his eyes, “Come on I’ll introduce you.” He clapped Chim on the shoulder then made his way over to the locker room. “Honestly if I lost to him, I would not be upset…And who says he’s even going to enter?” Chimney states, following their captain just a few steps behind. Right in step with him, Hen hums in mild agreement. Besides the charity aspect of the calendar, she really did not care.
A little twist in the introduction of Eddie to the team. Hope you all enjoyed! If you want to see more NFL Buck go here.

I do think 911 (especially abc) has a problem of sometimes doing too much for a storyline. idk I just think Maddie and Chimney both been through so much apart and together that they deserved a wedding day like Hen and Karen’s vow renewals. Loved Buck, Eddie and Chim making a play on The Hangover in the intro and I wish it would’ve stayed light hearted and fun drama not life and death drama that ruined the whole ceremony. idk decent episode (and Kenneth did a phenomenal job) but I was really hoping to see peak #FireFam moments.

It would also be nice if they introduced the character as just a character first and not a love interest to either guy? (I think that was maybe the initial intention with creating Lucy but having her kiss Buck that first episode destroyed that idea.) but hey, hire someone to be in the 911 call center, then after a few episodes intro her to the team. The other pairings work because either they’re all mains, or they’re a great actress like Tracie who can make any scene count.
Also, chemistry reads maybe. Just saying.
Maybe even a new casting director because wtf.
NGL while I absolutely understand what you're saying and I agree with the idea of the approach, it still doesn't work for me, specifically because this is already such a big ensemble cast and Kristen ALREADY cannot handle even making sure the main characters have stuff to do, much less their regular recurring characters. Did we not suffer enough in season 5 with them trying to flesh out tay kay more?!
"Oh they need to spend more time building up these women as their own characters outside of their romantic relationship with Buck or Eddie!" "Oh they need to be in the first responder world so they can flesh them out and make sure they're involved in the show if they want us to like them!" WHY?! Why go through all that and spend all that time when they ALREADY have two characters that are both in the first responder world and who are their own fully fleshed out characters already that the fans know and love, that could just...be TOGETHER? Instead of inventing TWO new regularly recurring characters that they need to develop AND show outside of just their connection to Buck or Eddie which KAREN doesn't even get?
Like, the approach makes sense but I would still not like them because a) Buck and Eddie already perfectly check every both the other has said or been shown to need in a partner, and b) because I love ALL of the firefam and would rather see them than two rando characters I don't know coming in and taking up their screentime 🤷🏻‍♀️
But also, for REAL about the chemistry reads because damn. Like, that was cringe to the point of being unwatchable for both Buck AND Eddie.

7, 34, 55 and 67!!!
7. Favorite female character?
Athena. That woman is a force of nature and Angela Bassett brought her a-game stardom, which I think elevated everyone else’s performance as well. Her intro scene was so impactful because she brought the emotion from the jump and it was so raw, but also believable in her anger and in that way people are complex it was like: this is our show, our characters are layered, and imperfect, and you can relate to them, and root for them, and take comfort in them. She’s the protector not just of her family but the extended firefam, she kicks ass and takes no shit, i mean.. it wouldn’t be the same without her - and I was hesitant about her because I knew she was the cop-character, y’know? But I really do like how the show isn’t just firefighters; there’s medics, and dispatch, and cops, and family, it needs those variations of first responders and I can’t imagine anyone playing the cop aspect better than Angela. But now I’m rambling. 🫠🫶
34. Most badass moment?
I’m blanking. I feel like there’s pretty cool bamf moments every other episode, but none of them have stuck.. baby!Buck kicking that guy off the balcony in season 1, the swagger and nose-flick after comes to mind. 🤨😏
55. Favorite Buckley-Diaz family moment?
Again, I haven’t watched season 5 or 6 yet, so. There’s been a few nice moments but from what I’ve seen the best stuff is yet to come. The skateboard for Chris was heartwarming af, also the Christmas scenes. 🛹 🎁
67. Comfort episode?
I haven’t rewatched any episodes yet. I only started the series this year and I’m still making my way through for the first time. I’ve rewatched my bucktommy supercut multiple times though. 🎞️👀

For honesty hr if you’re still doing that: if you could give 911 a full intro sequence, what song would you use and how would it look visually
Ooh, interesting question (that I am not going to do justice; I am so sorry).
Honestly, because I am very boring, I would stick with the current 911 theme, and the dispatch soundwave image would be a prominent factor somehow. I feel like it should be throughout the whole intro at partial transparency with several scenes playing behind it, fading in and out and cycling through a variety of scenes—some personal and some on the job, but most representing the shows iconic moments. I'm kind of imagining little groupings of scenes sitting above and below the sound wave graphic devoted to the little family units (both together and individually, if that makes sense) and a space (maybe bottom center—you know, as the foundation) for the firefam as a whole. And then at the end, that thing they did at some point in recent promo (I think) with the logo over top of like seven split columns with our mains.
I don't know if that makes any sense at all—it is very difficult to describe what's in my head for this.
Definitely a fun question to think about, though. Thank you!

This!!!
Bonus, if he forgets as far back as the back injury and the addiction, wakes up asking for Marcy and the kids, his parents etc.
Mistakes Athena/May for a nurse and hands them a phone number to call them. Refuses to leave hospital without his parents. Cue intro to Bobbys blood relatives and fight between Minnesota Nash’s and firefam over him staying in LA with his family.
Ryan Murphy, you listening?!

I'm almost sure I'm not the first one to do this, but it's just that the Friends intro is so suitable for our firefam

Welcome to the fandom! Below is a list of some of the more popular Buddie fics in the fandom that I think most people would consider must reads and also some that I personally enjoy:
Those Two Firefighters by DarkFairytale: a fun fandom must-read about Buck and Eddie unknowingly becoming Instagram famous.
Leading with the Left by letmetellyouboutmyfeels: another fandom staple that explores how Buddie’s relationship would have been different if Buddie had met before they both joined the 118.
The Definition of Love and All Things Ineffable by ElvenSorceress: a beautiful fic about Buck and his relationships with Eddie and Christopher.
Leave the Light On (I’ll Be Coming Home) by HMSLusitania: a great what if fic following the will reveal
Pretty much everything written by hattalove
ripples all the way down by iriswests
from the ashes by casfallsinlove
when the hardest part is over by throughfire: because the line about guinea pigs has stuck with me even after all this time
Dispatch is a 911 podcast with interviews from some of the well-known fanfic authors in the fandom. Each episode is a different author discussing how/when they got into the fandom, the author’s writing process, and some of the author’s noteworthy fics. Each author also gives recommendations for fics/fanart. It’s a fun listen, but even if the podcast isn’t your thing, it’s a good intro to the fandom and some of the popular authors. The show notes for each episode also contain links to recommended fics/art.
911bts is a tumblr that provides news and updates about filming and behind the scenes photos and videos of the cast and crew if you like that stuff (warning for potential spoilers)
skyhighrollins911 makes excellent 911 art/edits, including posters for each episode
Hope that helps kick start your journey with the firefam! Enjoy!
I recently started watching 911 thanks to some very talented old friends putting out some very convincing material and I thought, sure, let's check out some fic... a few weeks later and here I am, obsessed with the firefam and chomping at the bit to pick up writing again. I am absolutely feral about this show in a way I haven't felt in a while but it is hard getting into a fandom that has been going on so long. So. Who should I know? What's the fic, the art, the gifs that should absolutely not be missed? Gimme all your recs and your faves and your guiltiest pleasures.

hey! love your work :)
a couple of prompts which might grab your interest:
- buck is off work for a little while from injury (minor or major, dealers' choice), and eddie just absolutely hating being there without him. he bitches about how nobody knows how to do ___ right, he misses talking to him, he has all these little habits that only with his partner by his side. basically just work husbands being work husbands.
- estab. r.ship: eddie is invited to some kind of reunion w his army buddies/one of them is getting married or something, and it's the first time they all find out he's dating a man. reactions? how does eddie feel? does he intro buck to the squad? do they love him (the answer is yes)
- an old college friend of buck's shows up all of a sudden. he's a nice guy but it soon becomes apparent that he's a bit of a deadbeat and a user. he hasn't found a place yet so he crashes on buck's couch. he borrows money bc he can't find a job. he wants to party at all hours and do "fun" things which aren't always the best choice when buck has work the next day. buck is happy to have his friend back and he's such a sweet guy that you know he's not gonna hesitate to lend money or whatnot, and eddie's watching from the sidelines like. with his eye twitching bc he can see exactly what's going on. it gets to the point that the guy is calling buck to bail him out when he gets arrested for some stupid shit...and then it's time for eddie (and the firefam+maddie, if you like!) to step up and say hey, wtf, this guy is bad news and you need to cut him loose. (and an opportunity for eddie to tell him how great he is and how he deserves more...?) (OR if estab.r.ship is more your vibe this would be really interesting to see from eddie as The Boyfriend and not just the friend)
- anything where buck is hurt on the job and the team have to do something painful as part of their treatment (idk, reset a bone) and it just kills them to hurt him like that !
- eddie explaining/defending his decision re: guardianship to his parents. bonus points if they're visiting and they actually witness buck parenting christopher.
...do anything you want w these, they're just ideas! i'm sure anything you write will be amazing!
hello anon!!!! thank you so much for all the incredible prompts, you had my brain working overtime!
i chose prompt 2 to begin with: eddie invited to the wedding of one of his old army buddies.
*
The invite comes in the mail. Buck’s the one who opens it. They’re eating breakfast, just the two of them, Christopher sleeping over at Hen and Karen’s for Denny’s birthday. Eddie made scrambled eggs because he’d woken up before Buck, for once, and it was one of the few things he knew how to avoid burning. And sure, maybe there’d been a little swearing involved, but it was worth it for the look on Buck’s face when he came into the kitchen, cheek creased red from his pillow.
The long, slow kiss at the stove had been nice, too, until the eggs started to burn.
Eddie salvaged them, and Buck went to check the post while he was plating up. Bills; junk. Eddie has a mouthful of egg when Buck rips open the last envelope and pulls out a piece of cream cardstock.
“You’re invited,” Buck read aloud, raising his eyebrows meaningfully. “Together with their families, Jason and Amelia invite you to join them in the celebration of their marriage.” He says the word like that: italicised. Teasing and persistent. Eddie swallows his eggs. “Who’re Jason and Amelia?”

remember how shannon and eddie were at the hospital after chimney got stabbed?
now, diaz-family at the hospital where will get so visible that A*a doesn't fit with them and the firefam.
Eddie maybe doesn't wake up soon or it will end with Eddiana talking shit out and breaking up; a lot more healthy than shannon/abby/ali because they both agree. They're wasting so many time and energy together (canon), seriously. This is exhausting.
With Maddie's depression I don't know how the Buckley's and Chim will manage the ep.
We still have to see more buck and taylor, if I'm not mistaken, will they work with Athena to find the sniper? Will Taylor finally do the part we were waiting for?
The very ending should be a Buddie intro.
The theory about Eddie having flashbacks/hallucinations to see the light = Buck, it's so good and already happened to Chim and almost confirmed by LS (tommy&charles💔).
My dream is for Eddie to wake up calling for Buck obv - maybe on the ambulance also why not.
Well, all the strings lead to one thing only.

What are your top 10 9-1-1 episodes (in no particular order) and why? Feel free to tag other blogs in your answer and ask them the same question. I’d love to see everyone discussing this 😊
okay top ten eps in no particular here we go - jinx: the BEST episode of season 4 i take no arguments it has literally everything,,,pure firefam content! everyone being dorky about being ~jinxed! sAnTa mUeRtE? eddie having an actual storyline! one of my top comfort episodes fallout: this is such a good episode that deals with with actual consequences. i love how we get to see how all the trauma maddies been through really affects her in the long term, and when she realises however much she wants she can't help someone before they're ready. hen, healing from her own trauma and realising she can and always does get back up. eddie, finally dealing with everything that led to the street fighting. (honourary mention for the Kitchen Scene.) all around stellar episode. blindsided: the madney montage in the beginning almost makes all the pain that happens later worth it but i really did love how they contrasted maddies labour and alberts accident. and the fact that we got to see bobby and how incidents like this affect him was a good moment of introspection the taking of dispatch 9-1-1: this ep gave maddie a chance to really shine, and the whole setup and plot was brilliant. also gave josh a really good arc that continues onto powerless (special mention for buck and chim being chaotic) this life we choose: this is probably my favourite finale it ties together the whole season so well - everything with the bomber, bobby and athena, maddie and chim, eddie and his family. the culmination of so many arcs and it's done really well. and it sets up bucks recovery arc so well which gives us so much good character development eddie begins: the best begins with episode by far. the way it contrasts eddies backstory with one single emergency that spans the entire episode, so we actually get to see how what happened to him affects him and his decisions in real time. also - everything about eddie! we see how he panicked and made Mistakes, and how he and shannon pushed and pushed each other until they broke. how eddie still feels guilty about shannon and takes full responsibility for her leaving (both times) and how everything he's been through has only strengthened his resolve to be the best father he can be, how his son gives him the strength of will to crawl out of his own grave and live. (this one got a little long,,,,,can you tell how much i love eddie) suspicion: this was a GREAT setup episode with the shooting (i could go on about the cinematography and direction of the shooting but. i won't) as well as the bathena angst (both of which could have been resolved better if they took more time with it imo) and! hen's med school storyline was so good and so important fight or flight: premium maddie content. just. pure maddie gold. i love her and her storyline so so much. shes just brilliant and smart and kind and brave and strong and this episode showcased all of that really well. (special mention for buck being the best brother and the firefam at the hospital <3) chimney begins: another great begins episode! i really love chimneys journey, both with his parents & mr and mrs lee and with his profession and how he finally found his calling in firefighting after years of directionlessness. also, after the firefam as a whole, the han/lee family is the best purest family in the show under pressure: i mean. this gets a spot just for eddie and maddie's intros. iconic showstopping brilliant. will anybody be able to surpass how they waltzed into the show and immediately declared that they were the best characters. nope. their arrival rly took the show from okay-good to GREAT. 911 without eddie and maddie is like aloo parathas without butter, and it shows.

What are your top 10 9-1-1 episodes (in no particular order) and why? Feel free to tag other blogs in your answer and ask them the same question. I’d love to see everyone discussing this 😊
Dearest anon, I'm so sorry it took me so long to answer this ask. It was a combination of taking my time to really think about my favs, putting this in the drafts to work on it and then forgetting there's an extra step to post once something is in the drafts.
Anyway, I love the more comedic episodes because this cast has such good chemistry, it makes those moments really fun because you can tell they're having fun too BUT I'm also a sucker for angst (specially shippy angst) so here's my top ten (in no particular order):
1 Under Pressure: we meet the loml Eddie Diaz here and we get the best character intro too. I love how much we got to see of Eddie's personality in his first episode and the quick evolution of his friendship with Buck.
2 Hen Begins: I love this one so much. Hen's struggle to find and build a career she loves is something I relate to deeply and we got to see how Chimney and Hen's friendship began which gave me a new appreciation for that relationship.
3 Fight or Flight: this was the first episode I watched, it's still one of my favorites. I love the Buckley siblings relationship and Maddie's story of survival.
4 Ocean's 9-1-1: one of their best tbh.
5 Christmas spirit: firefam Christmas 😭🥰
6 Eddie Begins: this episode is soooo good. It gave us backstory, character development and introspection aaand Buddie moments all in one. Perfect 10/10
7 Fools: the skateboard scene 💕 (also the Diaz boys)
8 Future tense: game nights at the Buckley-Diaz home
9 Buck Begins: I don't even have words for this one. I loved getting to see Maddie and Buck grow up and it gave so much more depth to their relationship (also that tiny buddie moment 👀)
10 I know this is cheating but it's technically a three parter so Kids Today/Sink Or Swim/The Searchers: They fed us so well! Eddie trying to help Buck cope! Buck and Chris bonding! Multiple Buddie moments!!
Also ooh I'm tagging @blu-eyed-demon @itisa-profoundbond-sarandom and @justsmilestuffhappens I'm curious to know what their favorite episodes are 🤔

idk if you've talked about this before but the complete shift in how they wrote buddie in s3 compared to s2 still gets me it just is so Obvious
Hello friend 🥰
Puh, I don’t remember either tbh?
(Sometimes when I look for sth specific I go through my blog and have these, „huh, wait, I wrote this?“ - moments, so maybe we just forgot)
(I know I messaged with some people about it and I know @chimbuckleys answered an ask about it not too long ago, though I can‘t find it right now)
(Also I will talk about it a little in „The big buddie guide“ though by the time that is finished we will all be old and grey and unable to read any longer, sigh)
But as you said: it‘s very noticable!!! They feel a lot lighter and more fun in Season 2 and a lot more emotionally involved and soft and romantic in Season 3, right?
Part of it is that the topics and the things happening between Buddie and to Buck and Eddie are far heavier so the writing of their relationship is reflecting that
Part of it is that they know each other better by now so they don’t have to ... fumble around the heavy shit I guess? They know each other now and their relationship has been tested and it survived so they are far more secure to do and say shit
Part of it is that early Buddie? Mostly shot from Buck‘s point of view, I mean if Eddie and Buck are in the scene, than the focus always went: Buck > Buck seeing Eddie (our whole intro to Eddie was through Buck, in the first four episodes we got exactly 2 scenes and 1 montage of Eddie that didn’t involve Buck somehow and two were about Eddie and Chris)
If I had to assign themes for Buddie I‘d say:
2a: flirty coworkers
2b: friends who‘d fuck each other if the chance arose
3a: #mutual pining,
3b: familyTM
I have to say, for me the big shift happened with Eddie?
Even though we had scenes like the hospital scene in 2.13, their relationship was still fairly light and mostly just a normal very close friendship
Like, if 2a was Buddie narrated by Buck then 3a is Buddie narrated by Eddie because here HE is the driving force behind their relationship, he is the one setting the pace, even in 3.06 when he is avoiding Buck, he is the one who decides: jup, okay, I‘m ready to listen now, I do wanna talk now
While in 2a it was Buck setting the tone, it was Buck who initially didn’t like Eddie but followed him into the truck anyways, it was Buck who asked about who Eddie tried to reach, Buck who followed Eddie into the skyscraper and drove him around and introduced him to Carla and so on
I also think that sometime during 3a, beginning with 3.03 in particular and ending somewhere between 3.09 / 3.10 where Buddie went from coworkers and best friends and part of the firefam to a family of their own and an „us“ separate from the rest of the 118?
In „the big Buddie Guide“ I like to call it „the ambiguous us” and basically what I mean is that a few times throughout the season 3 Buddie refers to “us” and to “family” and while it is always with other people around the subtext can very easily be read as “you and me” and not “you, me and everyone else”
There is also a great focus of the relationship between Buck and Christopher in Season 3 which we didn’t have in Season 2 either, like, we had Buck reference Chris a few times and interact with him but always with Eddie around
Season 3 on the other hand side gave us a relationship between Chris and Buck that was separate of that of Buck and Eddie, which also informed the way Buddie was written, right? Because it gave us all this coparenting and Buck being fatherly toward Chris
I mean, puh, friend, it’s so crazy obvious?
I know that Timbo isn’t sure yet and all but he has definitely been writing Buddie in a way that keeps that door wide open and he has definitely been testing the waters with how far he can go in Season 3
In my opinion if they keep the progression of Buddie going this way - which they have to unless they do sth to break them up in Season 4 or they say “fuck character development” or the SOMEHOW and against everyone’s expectations manage to introduce love interests for the two of them that would realistically work - romantic Buddie is the only way it can end
Which tbh is why I am so for them getting involved with someone else? Because the way they have been written and the way these two characters work they would be each other’s endgame - but it also has to be a slow progression (for me at least) to stay in tone with their relationship and their development, so dating someone else for a bit and then figuring out: oh, it was you all along! is the only way I can see these two develop right now?
So yeah, these are my thoughts on the Buddie shift between Season 2 and 3!
Hope it all makes sense and please ignore all grammatical errors I made here and in the past few days in general, it seems the more I write in english, the worse it seems to get but also I am typing on my phone and I can barely text in german, sooooo

NFL Fic!! (and just as I'm watching the New England vs Phipladelphia game!) I know of someone that would buy about a hundred of those calendars if Eddie gets picked 😂😂😂
