About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Nicole. I’m twenty-three years old and am a Pokémon Trainer from Unova! Right now I have ten Pokémon total. They are as follows:

- Apollo (Espeon, male): My partner and very first Pokémon. I found him wandering around lost when he was an Eevee. He was smaller than average, and I suspect he was abandoned by his family for being the runt. He’s a loyal companion and is rarely seen inside his Pokéball.

- Frostbite (Weavile, male): I caught him in the wild as a Sneasel. Looking back now, he was probably too much for an inexperienced Trainer’s second Pokémon. He was difficult to handle. He was a confident and proud Pokémon and therefore stubborn. He didn’t listen to commands and initially wanted nothing to do with me. However, he ended up being a great Pokémon. He can be aloof at times and also a little standoffish towards strangers, but he’s just as loyal as the other Pokémon on my team.

- Spark (Kantonian Raichu, male): I caught him in the wild as a Pikachu. Despite not being native to Unova, Pikachu have been showing up in recent years due to mass breeding and people releasing them or the Pokémon getting loose. They’re an invasive species here, and it’s encouraged that people catch them to help decrease their population in the wild. I was lucky enough to find one. Spark is friendly and playful, but he gets distracted easily.

- Jet (Floatzel, male): I found him injured along a riverbed when he was a Buizel. I never found out what happened to him or how he got there. He gets along with my team just fine, but overall he prefers to keep to himself and mostly stays away from people or Pokémon he doesn’t know. He also has a bit of a temper.

- Pyro (Charizard, male): I bought him from a reputable breeder here in Unova. Other than his “rebellious teenager” phase as a Charmeleon, Pyro has a mellow personality and an overall excellent temperament.

- Malachite (Shiny Serperior, male): I adopted him from a rescue. He was one of the many Pokémon seized from an illegal breeding mill as a Snivy. He was extremely malnourished at the time. The Pokémon rescued hadn’t been given nearly enough food, water, or sunlight for any species, let alone Grass-types. When the Pokémon were finally stable and healthy enough, they were made available for adoption.

- Napoleon (Samurott, male): I caught him as an Oshawott while I was on vacation in Undella Bay. He’s not as serious or standoffish as you’d expect a Samurott to be. Instead he’s pretty happy-go-lucky and even playful at times. He loves to battle and while he does take it seriously, he also lets himself have fun. For him it’s more of a casual sparring match rather than a serious competition. I got him shortly after adopting Malachite.

- Storm (Jolteon, male): I found him as a stray in Castelia City, already fully evolved. He’s a friendly and easy-going Pokémon. He especially gets along with younger Pokémon and is very gentle with them.

- Athena (Hydreigon, female): I adopted her at a rescue when she was still a Deino. She had been seized from an abusive Trainer who wanted nothing to do with her in the first place. The Trainer even went as far as to encourage her other Pokémon (all Fairy-types) to attack Athena. Despite her rough start and Hydreigon’s fierce reputation, Athena is a surprisingly mild-mannered Pokémon. She’s very docile for her species and can be a little shy around strangers. She constantly seeks out attention from me. I believe it is a form of reassurance for her.

- Carnage (Axew/Deino cross, male): I adopted him from @pokemonranch. He’s still young and it will be some time before he evolves. He’s feisty and territorial with other males, though he seems to get along with female Pokémon just fine. He has taken an interest in battling and I plan on using him on my battling team once we work through some of his behavioral issues.

This blog tries to look at the Pokémon world from a more realistic perspective. As far as logic goes and how the world works, I take inspiration from both the games and the show, while also mixing in a good amount of realism and my own headcanons. As far as what events are canon, I base it off of the games. It’s worth noting that Pokémon aren’t perfectly 1 to 1 with real life animals in my canon. The average Pokémon is more intelligent than their animal equivalent, but they still have instincts and often display animal-like behavior. They can’t speak like humans do or understand perfect English like they can in the show. In my canon the anime is just a cartoon in the Pokémon world.

I’m perfectly fine with discussing more serious topics on this blog. I try to take a more grounded approach. Dark or otherwise mature topics are completely fine with me.

Real world continents and countries and Pokémon regions exist in my canon. Regions make up the portion of the country they’re meant to represent. So for example, Japan is made up of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. The northeastern part of the US is made up of the Unova region. France is made up of the Kalos region, etc. It’s more common for people to refer to the specific regions when talking about different parts of the world.

Real life animals do not exist in my canon. They are completely replaced with Pokémon. I imagine that animals used to exist thousands of years ago, but were wiped out due to the existence of Pokémon.

The inherent wish to post most of my other writing on Tumblr including a very niche story focused on the Ancient Era of Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom and the Hero's Aspect Link's journey with his Zelda from the eyes of an outsider but not really an outsider so I can scream into the void about that specific era of Hyrule we likely won't see anytime soon like a historian mourning the destruction of primary sources of information (read: damaged manuscripts and many other forms of documentation lost to time and as a history and culture student that hits too close to home) and trying to fill in the blanks as well as they can as well as other LU or Zelda related things vs My inherent anxiety over what's going on with Tumblr adding to my irl stress joining forces with my insomnia as I try to write that plus it interfering with the writing and editing of other projects due to sleep deprivation

does anyone else ever think about how chapters 14.5-15 of bungo stray dogs beast are essentially the parallel chapters to the main timeline’s chapter 39: portrait of a father. do you guys ever think about how portrait of a father is meant to represent the struggles that come with an abusive parent/parental figure and the pain of knowing that you love them and grieve them when they pass despite everything they’ve done to you. do you ever think about how in portrait of a father atsushi learned that it’s okay for these conflicting emotions to exist and she didn’t need to forgive or forget anything that was done to her by the orphanage director even though she loved him like a father and he ultimately loved her like his child too because his actions were still abhorrent and unforgivable and no amount of love can take away from the hurt that was done unto her. do you ever think about how in portrait of a father atsushi was allowed to gain closure with the newfound knowledge that her abuse wasn’t her fault and she was still allowed to grieve someone who hurt her without that demeaning the severity of it. do you ever think about how in beast chapters 14.5-15 atsushi wanted nothing more than to reclaim what was supposed to be a day for her — her birthday — and have that same closure by taking back everything that was stolen from her her entire life. do you ever think about how in beast chapters 14.5-15 instead of being able to find her closure and peace of mind atsushi ended up having to deal with the profound guilt of knowing that her abusive father died by her hands during the moment where he intended to actually express that he loved and cared for her, just as she had wanted him and anyone else to her entire life, because she was so horribly afraid of his presence alone it triggered her to react violently. do you ever think about how the aftermath of chapters 14.5-15 of beast was atsushi being left to blame herself for the death of this man as well as the tormenting knowledge that she both loved and hated him and there is no outlet or comfort that comes with that. there is nothing more complicated and painful than the person who is supposed to love and care for you being nothing but cruel to you and still finding yourself loving them nonetheless. there is nothing more tragic than knowing that that person loved you as you loved them and yet continued to harm you regardless. in the original timeline, atsushi was allowed to come to terms with the horrific reality of having an abusive parental figure and how their death can impact you. in the beast timeline, atsushi was allowed nothing but guilt and self blame for the longest time knowing that with his blood on her hands in the moment where he meant to make amends she would never get to have that closure, that peace she always intended to gain. one of them could heal, the other was left to rot. thats so fucked up

~ the great 01746 update saga ~

hello hello. due to a variety of reasons, (the passing of time, my skills improving, crippling perfectionist tendencies, etc.), i have decided to go through chapter by chapter and make some grammar/phrasing/flow edits to the story 01746. i like to think this work is my pride and joy, but recently i haven't been very proud or joyful about it, so this is my attempt at rectifying such an issue.

i will edit this post and reblog whenever i update a chapter, (or perhaps a few chapters, depending on how much time and energy i have. i want to avoid spamming reblogs!!), just so everything's transparent. i apologize for anyone currently reading or rereading the story. the plot and events are NOT CHANGING. literally all i'm doing is making it prettier, (or attempting to, at least).

one thing that has been bothering me abt the season finale is the lack of empathy . like not to be a cunt but carmy was legit going through it (and ofc the walk in fridge handle not getting fixed is his own fault, and ofc him thinking he saw his old boss and telling no one is his own fault too) but like??? bro got stuck in the walk-in during the biggest night of his life and claire broke up with him for being upset about it???? like yeah he shouldn't have said that shit about claire and richie but CMON LOL. it's just so frustrating to me that there was no empathy. maybe its just me but if i was in claire's shoes like obv i'd be upset abt someone saying shit abt me but i wouldnt break up with him for that? especially THE NIGHT OF ! it's always worth having a conversation and seeing where that shit comes from if u actually want the relationship to continue . carmy was being an asshole but like man i would at least be sympathetic that he got trapped during THE BIGGEST NIGHT OF HIS LIFE LOL ! maybe i just have a healthy perspective of relationships and personal issues tho .
