This world has fed us many lies. One of them is defining people and putting them in a categories. Think about it? #spittingthatfire Why do we define people by their color or race? Why do we define people by their occupation? Why do we define people by their body sizes? Then we have the audacity to look down at people who are different than us! #insecurities Through the things we see on television, in movies, and the celebrities we put on a pedestals and even desire to be, we are continually fed lies that we are ugly, we are not enough and we are nothing like them. #insecurity Let me tell you something really fast, you are a the baddest thing to ever walk this earth! If you do not believe that you are amazing. If you don’t believe you were fearfully and wonderfully made. If you don’t love the skin you are in or the person you see in the mirror every day, you are truly losing the only battle that matters. #fightinginsecurities The King of the Universe, God Almighty, has literally chosen you to roam the earth. He has ordained you to breath and experience this life. Why are you looking down at who He created you to be? Do you think God has made a mistake? #fightinginsecurity If you don’t like your body size, the way you look, or anything about you, enhance the way you look! If you are not comfortable with who you are, spend so much time with God you literally love what He has done with you. #lovewhoyouare I have to be honest with you, I used to hate myself. I used to hate being an African American man in the United States of America, because people tend to look down at me, judge me, talk about me, and even hurl insults at me without me ever doing anything but coming into the room. #lovewhogodcreatedyoutobe If you don’t love who you are, how can anybody else really love you. If you don’t love yourself, how can you love others. The same measure you love yourself, is the same measure others can love you and you can love others. #loveyourskin It is time we own who God made us to be. I really really love how this went from a “funny relateable post” into words of wisdom. And it’s true! I remember when I gave part of my rough draft for a story to my little brother, and he sat down and pored over it. I would peek in at him occasionally, and watching him laugh with delight over the funny parts brought such warmth to my heart.

Another day another skate session, not so great today, ankles still sore from the other day and unfortunately being a temporary rink the ice wasn't great. Definitely need to do more off-ice work to strengthen my legs and increase my fitness. First time in a month, maybe more but even after all this time I can tell that the couple of weeks of intense practice I did before have paid off, I'm much more comfortable on the ice and my actual skating/balance has improved massively. Unfortunately, it's full of private lessons today so plenty of people spinning/jumping past me and making me really insecure. But I'm fighting that insecurity and trying to keep going!
