Thought I might finally do this? There's other cartoons & shows I was gonna do this for too. Haven't really felt like posting on the internet these past few weeks after a friend of mine died, but i've been thinking about Stingo again... I've only mentioned Stingo on here a couple of times before (never posted stuff of my OC yet), I've been mostly talking about it on my little Fifi forum & Fifi discord...(Stingo's one of my cartoon crushes...) I think the only Fifi episode I can't find online is Poppy's ice cream show, and then there's only 3 episodes after that that I either watched before or skipped through and maybe others I skipped through? so I've seen almost all of them now so it's probably about time I did this.

i miss when i genuinely loved fifi and the flowertots. not back when i was like 5, i mean last year when i genuinely loved fifi and the flowertots. i even made this human fifi

i headcanoned her as aroace, bumble as an incel who won't accept fifi saying 'no', violet and primrose gave me the same vibes as pearl and marina from splatoon (ie a posh, somewhat self-centred lesbian and a shy lesbian) and stingo and slugsy definitely had the same villain-henchman relationship you see all the time. i mean, yeah, slugsy canonically has a crush on primrose, but screw the canon/slugsy can be polyamorous.

i didn't really have any headcanons for the other characters because they didn't show up enough lol.

Kisekae Insights #21: Fifi and Roary addendum

Hey everyone. In case you haven’t read already, I have a full-time job now, so I don’t know if I’ll be as prolific in making content than in the past. However, I am still determined to cover Gokaiger, Decade and Soulbound eventually, so I aim to make two instalments of Kisekae Insights per month. When we get to those instalments, they will most likely be split up into multiple parts, so I might be releasing more than two instalments in a month. I started this series as a result of the coronavirus lockdown – even with further lockdowns resulting in me having to work from home, I don’t know if I can be as prolific as I have been last year, given that I need to be in work mode for five days a week and that I still have my personal project to finish off. Nevertheless, I will continue to do my best and I hope you will continue to support me as always.

The main purpose of this instalment is to set the record straight on voice actors for Fifi and the Flowertots and Roary the Racing Car like I did with Angelina Ballerina a few instalments ago. Unlike Angelina Ballerina, however, this list was easy to determine because the cast is (largely) the same in both the UK and US versions. My original plan for this was to update the original instalment with this new information, but then I decided that it would be better to release it as a filler instalment.

Big Chris was absent in the Roary tribute episodes in Gokaiger and Decade and as such, Kerry Shale was credited as Tin Top’s voice. The reason is because Peter Kay had cancelled his tour and all his other work in November 2017 due to “unforeseen family circumstances”. I thought it was going to be permanent, but given how he seemingly started to come back to the limelight a few months after, I ended up giving him a cameo in the final episode of Gokaiger before giving him a full appearance in the Roary tribute episode in Soulbound Series 3 (October 2019).

Fifi and Roary are somewhat obscure series; the fact that they used to have websites was enough for them not to fall into even deeper obscurity. A decade ago, not very many episodes were uploaded onto YouTube, but now, the two shows have official channels and episodes keep being reuploaded daily with no indication of episode numbers. Trying to attain an accurate episode list has been a nightmare, though it can be said that at least 104 episodes were made for both series between 2005 and 2008 (assuming each series took about a year to produce).

In regards to Fifi, I find it interesting that it got a third series, but it was only 13 episodes long. Buttercup, Daisy and Flutterby were new characters in the series and I think they deserved more screentime, but hey, the fact that I’ve done this project means that I’ve fulfilled that wish already (hypothetically speaking).

So what happened to the production company, Chapman Entertainment? After creating Little Charley Bear and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion, Chapman was placed into administration in November 2012 and acquired by DreamWorks Animation in September 2013. Founder Keith Chapman, who created Bob the Builder in 1998, would go on to create PAW Patrol and Mighty Express. At this point, Fifi and Roary are obscure enough that I could say I own the rights to both series and nobody would care. In fact, I like to pretend that I do, like this project isn’t full of copyright infringements already.

At this point, both the official websites for Fifi and Roary have been discontinued and are now essentially impossible to access via archives due to the discontinuation of Adobe Flash. Low-quality wiki information seems to be all that remains now, but hilariously, the wiki for Fifi and the Flowertots seems to be no more.

I’m always appreciative of the few fans who like my posts or even reach out to me on things relating to obscure shows or content, whether it be Fifi and the Flowertots, Sea Princesses or anything else. As I have stated before, content for these shows is hard to come by and as such, people like me have had to step up and be the change we want to see in the world. For example, if I didn’t take the plunge last year during lockdown, I wouldn’t have been able to translate and review the Sea Princesses book series.

Anyway, that’s it for now. I’ll move onto something new in the next instalment.

I’m trying to remember what OC’s & self inserts I have now.

Camp Lazlo OC Emma (renamed from Claire): 2007-2008 though I’ve tried to draw her & write for her since then (maybe 2014-2016 & 2020-2021), a shy cat who is Edward’s girlfriend. Became a self insert although she wasn’t at first.  There was a Camp Lazlo OC called Emma before her (2006-2007) & she was more tomboyish but I didn’t really know what animal she was meant to be. Apparently I tried to make another one in 2007- a mouse called Sophie who likes Clam & talks like him.

South Park OC Emma: Self insert I drew/designed/roleplayed as in 2007-2008, I think I drew her again (different) in 2010 & roleplayed as her again, redesigned her in 2015 (inc as an adult) & 2020

Fifi and the Flowertots OC Rose: I think I thought about making her before (maybe a few years ago?) but I only just drew her (in 2022). Self insert who loves Stingo.

Sailor Moon OC: Self insert I tried to draw around 2008-ish- I’m thinking of redesigning her and calling her Sailor Earth with some Earth related attacks. 

Simpsonised myself in early 2008 & again in 2011. I think friends might’ve drawn it for me in 2009-2011 aswell

Also tried to insert myself in to Space Ghost (didn’t actually make an OC)- a friend drew it around 2011? And even tried to insert myself in to Dragonball (didn’t actually make an OC) around 2021 with a story I started.
