I am very much about Rean x Laura since CS1 and 2, so she was my choice. I just felt that she and Rean had the best chemistry back when I was going through CS1 and 2 due to having major common ground in their interest in swordsmanship and their similar personalities and that stuck, especially their Bonding Events in CS4.

But she did have some strong competition from the options, that being:

Fie (I just really love all of her Bonding Events in all of the games with how she just opens up to Rean, which makes her developing feelings for Rean understandable and really sweet),

Sara (I wasn’t 100% onboard in CS1 and 2 but her and Rean’s interactions and Bonding Events in CS3 and 4 really convinced me of their chemistry as a potential couple and that Sara really developed feelings for Rean now that they’re equals and no longer teacher and student),

Towa (just all of their Bonding Events in all 4 games are really sweet together),

Emma (for their Events in 2, 3 and 4, because I was a bit biased towards Emma when I was going through 1 because I thought she knew the full picture of what the hell was going on in 1 but didn’t tell anyone which frustrated me but in 2 it was explained that she only knew about the Old Schoolhouse being a trial to become Valimar’s Awakener and it would not have mattered if she told us or not which got rid of my frustration)

And Juna (admittedly she was frustrating at times in 3 but I found it understandable considering what happened to Crossbell, the SSS and her backstory for being kicked out of the Crossbell police academy for speaking out against that Erebonian instructor smearing the SSS, but her Bonding Events in 4 where she was slowly coming to realise that she has in fact fallen in love with Rean was really cute to, student-teacher thing aside)

Plus, I know she isn’t a romance option, but I just really love Rean and Claire’s whole relationship throughout all 4 games, that scene of meeting in the bar in 1, 2 establishing that whole using Rean as replacement for her little brother in their Bonding Event, how their interactions became awkward at the end of 2 and throughout 3 transitioning Claire to no longer view Rean as a replacement for her younger brother and their very complicated relationship in 4 where they are enemies because Claire is sided with Osborne but they still very much care for each other.

Plus, I found Rean’s interactions with Rosine really cute too.

Y'all, all this time we've been talking about who is going to fie and now how that person is going to die. It got me thinking.... Daniel's worst nightmare right now is someone discovery his two body situation.

Daniel's worst nightmare has come true and in the worst way he expected.

We know how when Daniel is being intensely threatened, UIDaniel awakens to protect him or something like that. What if it's UIDaniel that kills that person that's suppose to die? I've noticed that as time went on, UIDaniel has slowly become more brutal.

Ex:

When he first fought zack and jerry, UIDaniel only stopped when he felt that Jerry was no longer a threat.

It's kind of hard to tell with his fight with Gun, I think the same thing goes for when UIDANIEL fought Jerry.

If it wasn't for Goo interfering, I don't know what UIDaniel would have done it Yohan, would he have stepped on his head hard enough to crush it?

Same thing goes for Goo, the only reason that he survived is because Daniel woke up.

Slowly, UIDaniel started to become more brutal to the point where if someone or something didn't intervene or happen, Yohan and Goo could have possibly died (I mean UIDaniel was literally about step on Yohans head like a grape)

Like with all the anxiety and looming threat standing right above him, there is a huge possibility of UIDaniel coming out but this time there is no one to stop him 👀

After Kyle ate his normal potion of Larrys Quappen, he flew to Hans-Jürgen. His flying-style was uncontrolled, swaying, titubating. It´s a deep dark night when Kyle finaly arrives at Hans-Jürgens nest.

Kyle (babbling): “HAAAAAAN! HAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNN! HAN-JÜGEN! Wage ub!”

H-J (half asleep): “It´s still dark, let me sleep.”

Kyle: “Wage ub, I meed to tell you soming.”

H-J (slowly awakening): “Kyle? What is it about?”

Kyle: “I need to well you soming.”

H-J: “And what?”

Kyle: “I´m sowy”

H-J: “About what?”

Kyle: “Ewerything”

H-J: “And what is everything?”

While Hans-Jürgen acts as if he is searching for Kyles suprise, Kyle gets sleepier and sleepier until he fall asleep, overwhelmed from the fading Quappen in his circulation. Hans-Jürgen who know exactly this would happen, because it happend a couple of times before, comes silently back to Kyle, checks if he really is asleep - he is - and puts a blanket over him so Kyle doesn´t freeze in the night.

With the Adrestian Empire now declaring war on the Church of Seiros, Byleth was given a choice in the tombs. To kill one of his students and side with the church, or stand against them and side with the Empire.

Instead, Byleth chose neither option, retreating into the depths below Garreg Mach with his students of House Isekai. 

It is there where they begin to formulate a plan on how to approach the coming battle...

Byleth stared at Jeralt’s personal diary, longer than he’d care to admit.

He knew what it said already after hours upon hours of rereading it, though this decision wasn’t made lightly.

The truth of what the church had done to Sitri, Jeralt, and himself was laid bare in those pages. It was why he couldn’t rightfully fight for the Church, knowing all Rhea wanted out of him was a vessel.

And it’s not as if Edelgard gave him a good choice either.

Siding with Edelgard meant dealing with the Church, Kingdom of Faerghus, and the Alliance in a 3 front war. Not to mention her dealings with TWSITD.

(Woman’s Voice) “Byleth?”

Byleth looked up from his journal and saw Megumi standing in front of him, with a concerned expression on her face.

(Megumi) “Are you okay?”

Byleth sighed in response and closed the journal. He nodded in response and walked alongside her through the hallways.

At least he managed to get his fellow staff members and their students out of that mess before it got too out of hand.

But as far as he knew, he was enemy to the Empire, and gone rogue from the church. What was the right option?

Once they went around the corner, they saw Yuri in front of the doorway.

(Yuri) “Hey there, teach.”

(Byleth) “Is everyone inside?”

(Yuri) “Yup, waiting on you.”

They both nodded and went inside the room, where the residents of Abyss and House Isekai stood around the table, and turned to Byleth upon his arrival.

Byleth slashed the sword out of the Flame Emperor’s hands and was about to strike another blow.

The Flame Emperor jumped out of the way of his sword, but was too slow to see the next attack coming.

Sara pulled the trigger of her pistol, and the attack made its mark, breaking the mask in two.

The Flame Emperor recoiled and slowly looked up, a small amount of blood dripping down from their head.

Akira was the first to notice whose face it was.

(Akira) “Edelgard!?”

She made sure not to make eye contact with Akira as everyone slowly surrounded her, yet in complete disbelief of who the Flame Emperor was.

(Rean) “I was hoping it wasn’t you and yet...”

(Kazuma) “Tch, a lot more things are making sense all of a sudden!”

(Edelgard) “...”

(Akira) “Edelgard, how could you?!”

(Edelgard) “...After all this time we’ve spent together Akira, did you really not see this coming? You have seen what the Church does to anyone who even lifts a finger against them! You claim to fight for justice, yet here you are doing the dirty work of these tyrants!”

(Akira) “I...”

No one could deny that the church had given them assignments that bordered on the line of assassinations for those who didn’t seem to be all too bad but...

Akira started to lower his pistol, making Akechi shove him to the side.

(Akechi) “Now is NOT the time to think about that!”

Everyone else readjusted themselves, keeping a fair distance away from Edelgard as they surrounded her.

(Ainz) “Surrender now, and you will not be harmed Edelgard.”

(Rhea) “You are NOT one to make that decision, monster.”

That line got everyone of House Isekai to glare daggers at Rhea, but the denizens of Nazarick had to actively restrain themselves from pointing their weapons at her instead.

(Rhea) “I am the one in charge, and I order you to kill these heretics!”

(Everyone) ?!

(Yuuri) “What?! B-But...she’s our friend!”

No one noticed that Edelgard had to avert her eyes from Yuuri’s direction.

(Yuki) “N-Nevermind that! Maybe we can just talk this out?-”

(Rhea) “If you are to side with Edelgard, child, then I will have you executed too!”

Kurumi, Yuuri, and Miki were now clenching their teeth.

That was when Megumi noticed the Pleiades members weapon hands twitched when Rhea said that to Yuki.

(Cocytus) “THREATEN OUR STUDENTS AGAIN, AND YOU WILL NOT LIKE WHAT HAPPENS.”

(Rhea) “And pray tell, insect, gave you permission TO SPEAK-”

The Pleiades maids were now all pointing their weapons at Rhea, including the School-Living club members.

Even Doomguy raised his shotgun at her in defense of Nazarick’s members.

(Rhea) “Byleth! Control their insolence and kill Edelgard, and I will overlook this matter.”

(Aqua) “Psh, hey, Ainz!”

(Ainz) “Hm?”

(Aqua) “Control your guys’ ‘insolence’, this old hag is clearly above all of us!”

All of Nazarick began to smile as Aqua, Megumin and Darkness turned their weapons on Rhea.

(Edelgard) “Professor. The Empire will keep your students safe. That much I promise-”

(Rhea) “SILENCE! KILL HER NOW!”

Sara threw her pistol towards Byleth, and he caught it, aiming it at Rhea, while keeping his sword trained on Edelgard.

(Byleth) “We may be with the church, but like HELL I AM LETTING YOU THREATEN MY FAMILY LIKE THAT.”

Kazuma slowly snuck over to Rean, and leaned into his ear.

(Kazuma) “Pst, hey! How’s your giant robot’s mana?”

(Rean) “Huh? Valimar’s doing fine, why?”

(Kazuma) “At this rate, we’re gonna be dealing with a pissed off pope and the wrath of an empire, we need an escape plan!”

(Rean) “...Valimar?”

(Valimar) Yes, awakener?

(Rean) “Prepare a spirit portal to Abyss.”

(Valimar) Acknowledged.

(Rhea) “Your family? You mean to say that you would forsake your destiny with us, and the goddess, for a bunch of brats and monsters?”

Now it was the Floor Guardians of Nazarick who pointed their weapons at them.

(Albedo) “YOU WILL GIVE LORD AINZ AND HIS CREATIONS THE RESPECT WE ARE DUE!”

(Shalltear) “CALL US MONSTERS, OR CALL THEM BRATS AGAIN, AND WE’LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS!”

Edelgard attempted to move backwards and had Towa’s gun on her head.

(Towa) “Don’t even think about it!”

(Rhea) “THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE, BYLETH! KILL EDELGARD RIGHT NOW, OR I WILL SENTENCE YOU ALL TO EXECUTION!”

(Edelgard) “You see what Rhea truly is now! You see why we have to team up and take her down!”

Byleth looked at both of them, not knowing what to do.

(Kazuma) “Ya know guys?”

Everyone in the room turned to Kazuma.

(Kazuma) “I think Option C fits us well. 

(Everyone) ?

(Kazuma)

“SAYONARA BITCHES!”

(Rean) “VALIMAR, NOW!”

(Valimar) OPENING PORTAL.

A massive portal ripped apart reality behind Rean and Kazuma, both motioning everyone to get in.

Fie threw out a smoke grenade while Doomguy activated a flame grenade, causing more smokescreen as they all ran to the portal.

While Rhea was coughing, trying to wave away the smoke, Hubert teleported in and grabbed Edelgard’s shoulders, then teleported out.

By the time the smoke settled, everyone in the room was gone.

(Rhea) “So...THIS IS THE CHOICE YOU HAVE MADE. EDELGARD, I WILL CRUSH YOU BENEATH MY HEELS...AND BYLETH...YOUR HOUSE WILL NOT ESCAPE MY WRATH EITHER...

It had been a week since that incident in the tombs.

Yuri was kind enough to give House Isekai a hiding spot in Abyss, as they were planning to move out when the battle approached.

But the Ashen Wolves couldn’t leave them to fight their battle alone.

Not after all their group did for them.

Earlier in the school year, Byleth, Sharon, Ainz and Narberal, Akechi, and Megumin wandered into Abyss and helped them stop Aelfric from succeeding with his plans.

And while they didn’t join House Isekai, they became allies instead.

Now was the time for their friendship to come into great use.

(Towa) “Now that everyone is here, let’s begin the Student Council meeting!”

Everyone nodded, and Ainz was the first to speak.

(Ainz) “Sebas, your scouting reports.”

(Sebas) “Yes, Lord Ainz. The Adrestian Empire is marching towards Garreg Mach as we speak with a massive army. When the battle starts, it will only be a matter of time until they overrun the entire monastery.”

(Yuri Alpha) “Lord Ainz, not even with our combined powers will we be able to fend the entire army off.”

(Ainz) “Hm...Then that is what we have.”

(Kazuma) “Right, my turn. I used my sneaking skill to creep around the Monastery and see what’s up. The Black Eagles went off to the Empire to fight for Edelgard, so we should expect to see them in the coming battle. Blue Lions and Golden Deer are with the Monastery and are going to stay during the fight...Though uh, Dimitri is...”

(Minako) “...What about Dimitri?”

(Kazuma) “I think something snapped in him when news of Edelgard got to him.”

(Minato) “What do you mean ‘snapped’?”

(Kazuma) “As in, he’s completely lost it. He’s laughing to himself, saying something about avenging Duscur.”

Minako looked worriedly at Minato, but he shook his head.

(Minato) “Thanks, Kazuma. Anyways, us Persona Users checked the area for possible escape routes, or where Imperial and Church troopers will be flooding in. We’ve marked it here, here, and here.”

(Yu) “Our chances of escape look good right now, but as the battle continues those chances will get smaller and smaller.”

(Akira) “Leave the escape to us. We’re masters of improvising escape routes.”

(Rean) “Wait, I was under the impression that the Phantom Thieves planned escape routes out like a full out heist?”

(Morgana) “Well in our line of work, we never end up using it all the way due to complications...”

(Kurumi) “That’s encouraging...”

(Angelica) “Our plan is to get any students out of the battle. It’s going to be inevitable that we have to knock a few skulls together. Who’s our enemies?”

(Byleth) “Everyone.”

The room turned to Byleth.

(Byleth) “We’re rogue from the church, and deemed a threat by the Empire. When get to that battle, everyone there will be against us.”

(Everyone) “...”

(Byleth) “So, we avoid fights when we can. We get any non-combatants out of te area, then we escape together. Understood?”

Everyone nodded in response but the situation was grim. People they called friends would end up fighting each other, and most likely even get killed.

While no one could say anything else, Doomguy poked Byleth with his elbow.

When Byleth faced him, Doomguy motioned his head towards the class.

Everyone’s heads were facing down. 

Byleth understood what Doomguy was trying to say.

(Byleth) “Don’t worry. We’re going to put an end to this senseless war ourselves.”

Everyone looked at him and their spirits were starting to lift.

(Byleth) “This isn’t our war, but its involving our friends. And as far as I’m concerned, no friend is left behind. No matter what happens, no matter how long it takes, we’ll end it together.”

They all nodded wit renewed vigor, and perfect timing.

Hapi and Constance opened the door.

(Hapi) “Look alive everyone, they’re here.”

(Constance) “Best not to keep our guests waiting! We will show them the power of Nuvelle and-”

(Yuri) “Shut it, Constance.”

He motioned to everyone in the room and ran out with the two.

(Byleth) “We know our group formations. Good luck, Sothis be with you all.”

Doomguy reloaded and pumped his shotgun.

(Rean) “Class VII, move out!”

Class VII activated their ARCUS units and ran out the room with Byleth and Doomguy.

(Akira) “Showtime, Phantom Thieves!”

Their clothes transformed from their school uniforms to their thief outfits.

(Yu) “Investigation Team, let’s get going!”

They all put their glasses on and moved out with the Phantom Thieves.

(Minato) “S.E.E.S, Begin the operation!”

S.E.E.S grabbed their evokers and went up the stairs.

(Ainz) “Sons and daughters of Nazarick, SHOW THESE FOOLS THE MIGHT OF AINZ OOAL GOWN!”

They all teleported out the room.

(Kazuma) “Ah hell, here we go again...”

(Yuuri) “Yuki, Kurumi, Miki, Megunee, we need to start helping the students!”

Kazuma and Yuuri’s groups began evacuating those in Abyss first.

Byleth’s group ran out the normal entrance of Abyss into Garreg Mach.

They saw knights rushing to the front gates, but failed to notice them.

Waiting for the moving soldiers to pass, they rushed towards the classrooms.

As they were running, Byleth realized he still had Sara’s pistol.

(Sara) “You don’t need to return it for now, if that’s what you’re about to ask!”

Sara smiled as they were about to open the first classroom.

(Sara) “Give it to me once this battle’s over. I’m sure you’ve been dying to use one of those anyway.”

Byleth smiled in response, then slammed the door open.

The students inside were at first scared by the sight of Doomguy, but Rean and Alisa came through the door.

(Rean) “We’re not here to hurt you!”

(Alisa) “If you guys aren’t fighters, then follow us! We’ll get you to safety while the Church is fighting the empire!”

(Student) “Wait, professor Byleth? Weren’t you considered a hereti-”

(Crow) “Tch, what’s the matter with you all, you wanna die that badly?!”

The students looked at each other in hesitation but then agreed to follow.

(Crow) “Rean bean, leave the students to me, Towa, and Angie! See you on the field!”

Rean nodded and everyone moved out.

As they were running to the entrance, they were spotted by several knights.

(Knight 1) “It’s Byleth, STOP HIM!”

(Machias) “Damn it, they’re onto us!”

(Fie) “We don’t have time for this!”

Emma and Elliot rushed to the front and started casting arts.

(Emma & Elliot) “ARCUS, activate!”

As the knights rushed to them, blue lights emitted from the duo’s staff. and they fell to the ground dropping their weapons.

(Emma) “We need to move, I don’t think that sleep art will last long!”

(Jusis) “Then we need to find a way out of here without drawing too much attention!”

(Millium) “We could bust a hole through the wall and go out from there!”

(Gaius) “No, too dangerous! That’d bring every Imperial and Knight down on our heads!”

(Laura) “Then what do you propose we-”

(Sharon) “The decision has been made for us!”

Several wyverns screeched in the distance as they came closer to the Monastery walls.

(Byleth) “We have to defend the interior or the students will get caught in the crossfire!”

[Roar of Dominion (Thunder) - Fire Emblem Three Houses OST]

A knight and an Imperial soldier clashed their swords at the gate to Garreg Mach, trying to overpower one another.

Several more Imperials and Knights rushed to the frontlines and mimicked the two soldiers.

Some of the Imperials gained a hole through their stomach while some knights had their chest slashed open. Right now it was a stalemate.

As a knight kicked down an Imperial and was about to strike, both of them heard something coming closer.

(Knight) “The hell is that noise?”

Before either of them could do anything, a massive bus came out the trees and almost hit them, making everyone stop what they were doing and jump out the way.

(Ann) “Queen, could you drive anymore recklessly?!”

(Makoto) “DO YOU WANT US TO STOP THE FIGHT FASTER, PANTHER?!”

(Yu) “This isn’t the time guys!”

(Akechi) “CUT THE BULLSHIT AND GO ALREADY!”

Everyone jumped out the bus and it transformed back into Morgana.

Makoto was the first to rush out and grabbed the heads of an Imperial and a knight and slammed them together.

Akechi, Yusuke, Morgana, and Akira aimed at the weapons of the Knights coming from behind and shot their swords out of their hands.

Ann, Haru, Kasumi and Ryuji knocked out anyone else who got to close using a combination of their weapons and Personas. 

Futaba remained in her UFO Persona directly above Rise, trying to analyze the battlefield.

The Investigation Team started to form up and cover the incoming knights while the Phantom Thieves dealt with the Imperials.

(Ainz) “SLOW!”

A red aura flew around the company of imperials moving in to the Monastery’s flank. Suddenly they all stopped running, confused of what was happening.

Aura and Mare deformed the earth around them to catapult them back, landing into another company of soldiers.

Albedo rushed ahead fully clad in her black armor, blocking every attack they threw with ease.

The Pleiades jumped into the fray with Albedo, disabling any soldier and killing them if they tried to continue attacking afterwards.

(Demiurge) “Lord Ainz, Tank Group A is doing well pushing them back. But Tank group B could use the help of more DPS.”

(Ainz) “Understood, you and Shalltear get there as quickly as you can!”

Shalltear and Demiurge bowed before running to the hole in the wall of the Monastery’s defenses.

(Ainz) “Just how many of them are there?! They better hurry with evacuating those students...!”

...

(Aigis) “That is the last group of hostiles!”

The last imperial fell to the ground unconscious as Akihiko clenched his fist.

(Akihiko) “Damn they’re not fooling around sending in those heavy armor guys!”

(Mitsuru) “It is safe to come out now!”

The group of students came out from the nearby room and nodded.

(Student) “T-Thank you!”

(Junpei) “Don’t thank us, get the hell outta here!”

Minako opened up a door and motioned to run through.

The students ran as Shinjiro turned to Fuuka.

(Shinjiro) “How many more on the way?”

(Fuuka) “I’m sensing a big group coming up from the room to our left!”

Yukari, Minato, Koromaru, and Ken took up positions near the door and readied their weapons until Koromaru started barking happily.

(Fuuka) “...Wait a second, that’s-”

The door opened and-

(Crow) “WOAH! Jeez, don’t scare us like that!”

Crow, Towa, and Angelica had another group of students behind them.

(Minako) “Sorry, how close are we to successfully evacuating everyone?”

(Towa) “Just about done! Abyss is completely empty and is being led by Yuri and his folk! Kazuma and Yuuri’s group went to get any townspeople out of the fight since they were done! What about you guys?”

(Yukari) “We’re starting to run low on energy with us having to summon our Personas so much! We should start getting our escape route rea-”

KABOOOOOOOOOOOM!

(Ken) “Crap, what was that?!”

(Angelica) “Wait, no one else can cause an explosion that big except...!-”

...

Megumin fell to the ground, completely exhausted.

Kazuma picked up Megumin and put her on his back and laughed.

(Kazuma) “Good job, now we got those assholes off of us!”

(Kurumi) “Yeah, but we just lit ourselves up like a Christmas tree, everyone will be coming over to investigate what that explosion was!”

(Aqua) “Then we take the back way! COME ON!”

Kazuma and Yuuri’s group led the townspeople to safety while Kurumi and Darkness stayed at the back, fending off any soldiers.

The way they took was near the canyon that seemingly dropped into the void, but overall it was empty of soldiers.

(Kazuma) “Now, haul your asses off into that hill and you’ll be safe with the others!”

(Megumi) “Please, hurry!”

(Miki) “GUYS, LOOK OVER THERE!”

An entire legion moved towards the Monastery, soldiers as far as the eye could see.

(Darkness) “Just how badly does the Empire want Garreg Mach?!”

In the distance, they saw a bright white flash, then emerged a giant dragon that flew overhead and set a massive portion of the legion ablaze.

(Kazuma) “Are you fucking kidding me, a dragon?!”

(Yuki) “W-What do we do?!”

(Megumi) “The same plan as before, we just have to meet up with the rest of the House and-”

ROOAAAAR!

Several demonic beasts came rushing past them and towards Rhea, the force so great it blew away several people tumbling near the cliff.

Yuki rushed over and grabbed someone before they fell, while some others were holding onto the edge.

(Aqua) “MEN OVERBOARD!”

(Yu) “Guys!”

The two groups looked over and saw the rest of House Isekai coming onto their location.

Rean exited Valimar as it prepared a spirt portal, drawing his tachi.

(Rean) “Those beasts are starting to ignore that dragon! We need to buy enough time to teleport out of here!”

(Ainz) “Understood! TANKS, TO THE FRONT, DPS GET BEHIND-”

Byleth and Doomguy rushed to the front of the group while the others went to help the civilians up.

Byleth shot the first Demonic beast approaching them, making it flinch before Doomguy got on top of it and stuck his wristblade through its head.

Using the whip-function of his sword, he severed the legs of another demonic beast, making it flail wildly as it landed on its side.

Albedo caught up with the two and began blocking several demonic beasts at once, hacking away at them with glee.

More demonic beasts started coming from all sides towards them, making everyone back up near the cliff.

After Byleth shot the gun several times into a demonic beast, it was then he noticed that Rhea was coming towards them.

(Byleth) “Guys?!”

Before Rhea could do anything, several demonic beasts jumped into the air and grabbed her.

(Byleth) “Everyone, look out!”

The demonic beasts tackled Rhea to the wall, shaking the ground beneath them violently.

Several rocks beneath that cliff began to fall.

(Kazuma) “Shit not good! This thing’s about to break any second!”

(Rean) “Valimar’s ready, if we’re leaving, it has to be now!”

(Yu) “There, we got the last civilians up! Everyone, let’s g-”

(Minato) “SHIT, INCOMING!”

Rhea picked up one of the demonic beasts by the neck and flung it towards them. The body slid across the ground and into the cliff, with a loud snapping noise coming out from beneath them. 

(Kazuma) “You got to be kidding me.”

(Rean) “Oh no.”

(Yu) “No no NO!”

(Akira) “Damn it!”

(Minato) “Son of a BITCH!”

(Minako) “Oh god!”

(Doomguy) “...Shit.”

(Yuuri) “B-BYLETH?!”

The ground beneath them finally broke, making all of House Isekai fall into the canyon.

Byleth was too far away to fall in with them, and that horror began to sink in as he rushed towards the cliff.

(Byleth) “NO!”

It was like everything was starting to slow down around him.

Everyone’s terrified expression as they fell into the void, knowing there was nothing they could do.

The last thing they did was save people not even of their world.

(Byleth) No...!

As Rean was falling with Valimar, he noticed Byleth was about to be attacked by both Rhea and the Demonic beasts.

Knowing that Valimar didn’t have enough energy to get all of them out, Rean gave one last order.

(Rean) “GET BYLETH OUT OF THERE NOW!”

(Valimar) Acknowledged.

Threescore wasted, ten cast aside

Four-fold knowing, no end in sight

Byleth noticed he started to glow a bright white and the realization kicked in.

(Byleth) “No! NO, LET ME STAY, DAMN YOU!”

And with one final look at everyone falling, he was teleported forcefully away, slamming into the ground, miles away from the battlefield.

When Byleth opened his eyes, he quickly got up to try and find them, but he was too far away. 

The entire Monastery was in view now, seeing the destruction it withstood.

Byleth dropped his sword, falling to his knees, knowing nothing could be done.

He had failed his promise to get everyone out alive.

He had failed his students.

He failed.

Byleth’s thoughts was caught in a loop, grabbing his head and screaming, now noticing that tears streamed down his face for a second time.

After a short while, he noticed something at the corner of his eye, a man dressed in black with Edelgard.

Here proud angels bathe in

Their wages of blood

Realizing who it was beside her, he grabbed his pistol and fired it at him, but the shot was deflected by a magical barrier.

The two said nothing as they teleported away, making Byleth slam his fist to the ground, unable to avenge his students deaths in some way.

At this, the world's end, do we cast off tomorrow

When he looked up, he saw Rhea flying away as Garreg Mach burned in the warm sunlight.

He looked at his pistol and the Sword of the Creator and his teeth grinded against each other, his hands trembling.

One brings shadow, one brings light

(Byleth) “Rhea...Edelgard...!”

After a moment of silence and wiping away his blood and tears, he holstered his weapons and walked away from the Monastery.

So I did like it overall, but I have a lot more criticisms of it than I did of the previous games

So... the pacing in this was weird. Like I loved all the field study segments, they were SO fun, but there’s also the Trista segments between which very boring and felt like filler

I think it’s meant to make the ending feel more important, since you’re defending the school, but it kind of backfired because being forced to run around Thors (which is not a very interestingly designed location, by the way) over and over and over again actually made me kind of resent it. To a point where I low key wanted the ILF to destroy the school. Oops

Like I cared about Liberl and Crossbell because they were interesting, and big, so I never really got tired of them. I got tired of Trista very quickly

Also having everyone in school uniform made their designs less interesting :/

The other places were all super interesting, though! I think if I had to pick a favourite I’d say Bareahard, but they’re all contenders really 

Oh also the other issue with the structure was that everyone had to be mad at someone at all times, and it was almost comical how systematic it was - Rean and Alisa don’t get on, that’s resolved, now let’s focus on how Machias and Jusis don’t get on, that’s resolved, IMMEDIATELY we’ll replace that with Fie and Laura, then the moment that’s resolved it’s Jusis and Milliam...

Like, be a little less formulaic in your character conflict

Anyway, characters!

I do not like the thing where the character’s name appears in front of them before they say it. It was irritating

Elliot: The one I would have been in love with when I was eleven. Elliot is good and sweet and did nothing wrong ever. Holy Song is the most useful craft in the whole goddamn game. He also has easily the best S-Craft in a game where most of the S-Crafts are *decidedly* lackluster, aesthetically speaking. I like Elliot. His friendship with Gaius is also very nice

Jusis: The one I would have been in love with when I was fourteen. So, the moment I saw Jusis, my immediate first thought was ‘oh, this guy is one half of a gay ship’. I had no clue who the other guy was going to be, but I knew there was absolutely no way that Anime Draco Malfoy wasn’t getting shipped with a man. 

And then Machias opened his mouth, and... every franchise, no matter what, has its gay OTP (its homoTP, if you will) - that one, usually M/M, but sometimes F/F, ship that’s practically got a whole side-fandom just for itself. Up until now, I assumed Trails’ was going to be Olivier/Mueller - but while I haven’t checked, because I don’t want spoilers, I will be shocked if these guys aren’t actually it. They have every making - opposites attract, enemies to lovers, they sing together, other characters make jokes about it...

Like, this was deliberate, surely? Surely?

Anyway, I like Jusis. I think he’s a fun character, easily the most interesting of the boys, and I really enjoyed his development. He has a cute smile

I also thought he had the best voice acting in Class VII, so I looked it up and Ben Diskin! I love Ben Diskin! I couldn’t even tell, I had no idea his range was that great, wow!

I did think it was extremely weird that if you invite him to the Stella Garten, he says he wants to date a woman who is ‘like his mother’. Okay, Jusis.

Machias: The one I would have been in love with when I was seventeen. You ever meet someone who’s like... always right, really, but in such an obnoxious way that you wish they weren’t. Machias. He would have been way more interesting if he was just a really politically minded teen who needed to learn tact, rather than yet another member of the Trails Dead Family Member Club (the fact that it was revealed right after Elliot’s Dead Family Member Club story did not help). Still, he really did grow on me in the end. He’s a little dork

Gaius: The one I would be in love with now, if not for the fact that he’s only seventeen and thus a little baby in my eyes. I do love his design the most. Can he say even one line that’s not about the wind, though? I also like that he’s one of very few characters in this franchise to not have a tragic backstory, was very refreshing. 

I can only assume, therefore, that Nord will undergo ethnic cleansing in Cold Steel II

Crow: oh boy Crow hahahahahaha. I don’t know how I feel now. Uhhhh... what did ‘the things I do for love mean’? I am curious

Alisa: I don’t like tsunderes much, and I found her ‘being mad at Rean for something that was absolutely not his fault’ thing very, very stupid and it did not endear me to her at all (also, like, if you had to have that - a better way would have been for him to accidentally injure her, rather than... ugh, look, I am a woman with large breasts - accidents really do happen irl. There’s no point in getting that mad about it. There just isn’t. I have no patience for this kind of plot). It also bothered me how possessive of Rean she got, I swear I picked Towa over her half out of spite. I don’t hate her, though, to be clear - I loved her plot with her mother and that scene in Nord. And her relationship with Ferris! She’s great when she’s not talking about Rean, basically

I don’t buy her as Rean’s love interest, honestly. Rean consistently shows more attraction to Emma, and has more (mandatory/canon) moments with Towa. It only felt one-sided to me 

Laura: I like Laura a lot. I don’t really have anything to say about her, just that she was consistently good, and I appreciated her maturity and self awareness, I love her and Rean being sword bros, she’s just great

Fie: I think Fie was designed to appeal to exactly me personally. Tiny snarky badass girl with a great design? That’s everything I love and aspire to be! Best girl in the game (didn’t date her though because she’s fifteen and I refuse to date anyone who is younger than the protagonist when I play games set in high schools. Feels weird enough dating teens the same age as my character. Also she had 0 romantic chemistry with Rean)

Millium: She’s fine, good voice acting, want to know more about Lammy, no strong feelings

Towa: I wasn’t going to date anyone, but changed my mind because I really liked Towa... and then I looked at her, and saw a tiny girl with long, light brown hair and soft voice, and realised I just want to date myself

I checked, and according to Playstation Trophies, at least, she’s the least picked girl? The only characters picked less than her are the non-Crow boys (Machias is the least popular, which... I feel a little mean for finding hilarious lol)

Emma: I like Emma herself just fine. Don’t get me wrong. But she’s infuriating as a mystery character, because she’s the worst kind of mystery - the kind that relies on the other characters to NEVER AT ANY POINT ASK THE QUESTIONS THAT A NORMAL HUMAN WOULD ASK

Estelle would have asked

Rean has multiple opportunities to ask her to explain herself, and he doesn’t! One time, she straight up ASKS HIM TO ASK, and he doesn’t! That’s not mysterious anymore! That’s just incredibly annoying!

And no one else asks either! Some of them, fine - I can understand say, Elliot or Gaius or Millium - but Jusis!? Jusis, who has been there for pretty much all of her mysterious vague magic, and has repeatedly shown himself to be willing to be kind of rude, and may not be that interested in other people but certainly isn’t stupid - while they’re in the Schoolhouse Depths, Jusis isn’t going to grab Emma by the shoulders and demand she explain what she knows? He’s just going to go with it as she refuses to elaborate on things?

Kevin would have - actually, no, Kevin would have already known because Kevin Knows All, but he would have told everyone else, so same outcome 

Rean: And that brings me to Rean. Rean... is a JRPG Protagonist. He is good, and noble, and he gives Inspiring Speeches, and he can date all the girls (which means we don’t really get any interesting opposite-gender friendships, because oh no, a threat to the harem!), and he is so, so boring. My god

Hey remember how I praised Sky for how great it was to have Estelle be an actual person with flaws and personality? No you don’t, no one’s reading all of these, but yeah - Estelle is just as colourful and full of life as the rest of Sky, while Rean is the least interesting character in Cold Steel no contest

Oh he has a super powered dark side, oh, well, that’s a game changer, never seen that before except in every 2000s shounen anime. Also we never actually learn the Super Rean rules, so that dramatic moment where he’s thinking about transforming to fight Scarlet isn’t actually that dramatic because I had never realised it could kill him until he said so in that moment

Oh except he’s also an awakener and can summon a Persona giant mecha suit! Because he’s the most special boy to be very special? I have never seen that in a JRPG before except in all of them

In Sky, Estelle wasn’t special. Except she was, but it wasn’t because she had super awesome secret awesome powers and all the boys liked her best. It was because she was flawed, but always trying, and because she was incredibly brave and optimistic no matter what, and because she was the kind of person who told a god summoning evil mastermind ‘lol no’ and then beat him with a stick, and because she really, believably loved her friends. She loved them. And they loved her. Not the player she was the avatar of. Estelle herself

Estelle Bright has ruined me for all other JRPG protagonists, is what I’m saying

Oh also Rean has that whole speech about how they can’t cancel the festival to protect people from an unknown threat, that’s not fair to meeeeee, and as someone who has lived through the year 2020 -  go to Gehenna, Rean 

Olivier is back!!! And yeah I’m going to keep calling him that, that’s who I know him as, and also Olivert is a silly name

Even more importantly, Mueller is back!!! And he and Olivier still have the best comedy dynamic in the series, joyous day! THAT is love and peace, baby!

I’m trying to imagine what it would be like to have played this game first, as I know a lot of people did. Specifically in regards to Olivier (or Olivert, I guess)

Like... imagine meeting this guy for the first time as a fairly serious leader of an important faction, participating in vital political machinations. Imagine meeting him here and not knowing about the Grand Chardonnay incident. Imagine not knowing about that time he stopped a riot by riding up in a boat and singing. Imagine not knowing he has a rivalry of aesthetics with a terrorist. Imagine not knowing what I was referring to when I said ‘that’s love and peace, baby’ just now

Side note, if you had told me, on one of those warm August days when I was first playing Sky FC, that the silly man in the white coat was actually one of the most important characters in the franchise, I would not have believed you for a second 

But on that subject, I was also trying to work out who a first time player would be siding with... like, I’ve played Sky and experienced Zero (currently working way through Azure as well), which means that my immediate reaction to all of Erebonia’s politics was ‘trust whatever Olivier and the bracers say, don’t trust anyone else’. But someone starting with Cold Steel has no reason to have loyalties to those factions, so I’m curious 

Side note, having played the previous games also massively impacted how I viewed the ILF - I’m very confident that I would have just taken them being evil for granted if I’d played this first, but considering they hate Osbourne... and Olivier does not like Osbourne... that kind of made me a lot more suspicious of who I was really meant to side with

I really liked most of the NPCs in this. I especially became weirdly fond of Beryl

However, I do now also have characters I actively dislike, a series first! Gwyn (creepy old man), Neithardt (sexist jerk, kick his arse Beatrix), and Dorothee (...could write a whole essay on the myriad reasons I do not like that particular archetype) get in the bin

Good god, every interaction between Rean, Emma and Dorothee made me want to smack the lot of them with my controller, Dorothee for being an absolute creep, and Rean and Emma for overcorrecting into low key homophobia (seriously Rean, you’re friends with a lesbian, the idea of the existence of gay men should not shock you this much)

Re: Elise... I heard the words ‘non-blood related younger sister’ and my eyes rolled so far back in my head I was afraid they wouldn’t come back down

Took me a while to figure out, but ideal team is Elliot, Jusis, Machias, with Laura and Fie as back-up

I would like to find whoever’s idea it was to make the S-Crafts unlock as the game progresses rather than just be there when you get the character, and shake them until they apologise. Have them evolve with the story, sure, but not having them at all wrecks the battle flow so much. Emma was unusable to me until chapter-goddamn-FIVE

I loved the Annabelle subplot, and the punchline that the person her family wanted to marry her off to was a Lakelord... I actually yelled

The concert was so hyped, and then there weren’t even any real songs (aside from the re-use of the end credit song from Sky, which made me very happy. And Olivier singing along made me laugh out loud)

AND WHAT AN ENDING

I mean. At first

They did such a good job building the tension, and then-

The Crow twist, my GOD, when I tell you I freaked the fuck out... I was totally convinced that it was Claire. Or possibly Campanella on stilts. I completely overlooked that there was another major character with a C name, and honestly I’m glad I did because I have not been this shocked by a reveal in a while

And then I stopped taking it seriously when I saw the robots with heelys 

It was all.. we had a very final boss-y final boss, right? Excellent final boss fight, very fun, very satisfying. And then the game just... kept going. I accidentally stayed up until 4 AM because I thought I was at the end and it just didn’t stop

And then it did. Very, very abruptly 

(no seriously I was making some snarky comment about how goofy the flying robot suits look and then the game just ENDED, what)

(also worst *actual* final boss I’ve ever seen. the fact that they managed to make a battle between two giant robots, one of which was controlled by a traitorous former friend, feel like an anticlimax... that was impressive, honestly)

So Cold Steel I is... easily my least favourite Trails game so far. Again, I did like it, but like I say... Rean isn’t Estelle Bright. And that’s pretty much my main problem, in the end

Edens Zero Week: Favorite Moment

Ladies and gentlemen... he did it.

He actually did it.

I expected Mashima to find a way out of the dark situation he wrote himself into with chapter 84. I could see Weisz going on without an arm for the rest of the series. I could see the team getting back Happy and Pino. I could imagine Shiki, Homura, and Rebecca finding a way to break free and help all their friends. But once Drakken Joe shot Shiki, I knew that something had to change.

But I could never imagine Cat Leaper’s awakening in chapter 84 being what it was. Of all the possibilites Mashima could have gone with to bring things back to normal, this wasn’t one I could have expected. And yet, the more I think about it, there wasn’t any decision he could have made that would have sense. In honor of Edens Zero Week, I’d like to talk about what makes the activation of Cat Leaper such an amazing moment, along with its future implications for the series.

Strap in, because this is gonna be a long one.

What happened when Cat Leaper awakened?

To start, let’s talk about the moment itself. To be clear, I am speaking of the proper awakening of Cat Leaper in chapter 84. Even as the ability is revealed in chapter 64, I’ll be refering to that moment as the unlocking of Leaper for the purposes of this post.

A big reason for this is that Drakken Joe makes a distinction between Rebecca’s ability to use Cat Leaper to move very fast and the actual power that he’s trying to steal. That power

If I have anything to criticise this moment for, it’s that it’s taking place in a shower. On the one hand, it’s the only place that Drakken Joe wouldn’t reasonably put cameras in, which is important to this moment happening at all. Still, I don’t like that this important moment is happening while Rebecca’s naked. It’s worse considering you have moments where we go from Rebecca think about Drakken Joe to her being in the shower, as opposed to a consistent view from that flashback perspective.

That being said, the awakening of Cat Leaper is dependent on not taking advice. Upon seeing Rebecca still brooding about what happened to her friends, he flat out says, “forget the past”. In his mind, there’s no point in dwelling on the past. After all, it’s not as if there’s anything she can do to change it. It’s irony like that which is why I love Mashima’s writing.

With the actual moment, it happens because she wishes that she could change the past. Specifically, she wishes that Shiki wasn’t dead. And that was the trigger for Cat Leaper’s awakening. She wanted to return herself to a place where Shiki could have been saved and was brought to one of the easiest places for that to happen: right before going to Belial Goer.

The crazy thing about this is that there was a subtle hint towards what’s about to happen within the chapter title. You’ll notice that the title of this chapter is “A World Without Shiki”. If you were to read this without knowing about this moment, it would mean that the world has to move on without Shiki. Knowing what happens, the title is describing what is at stake for the rest of the arc: a world without Shiki.

Speaking of which...

What did the awakening of Cat Leaper do for the Belial Goer arc?

In the most literal sense, all it did was reset the events of the arc by about 15 chapters, from the middle of chapter 69 to the last few pages of chapter 84. This resulted in much of the darker events of the arc to be negated near entirely.

Near, being the operative word. Yes, Weisz doesn’t lose his arm to Fie. Yes, Shiki doesn’t die. And yes, the crew is prevented from being held as prisoners by Drakken Joe. However, that doesn’t mean that events are the same as before.

Notice that the amount of time Rebecca has been out has changed. In chapter 69, Sister Irvy says that Rebecca was out for about a full hour. In chapter 85, she says it’s only been half an hour. With the thirty minutes saved, she’s able to prevent the EZ Crew from going to Belial Goer and setting off the events that set up the future Rebecca came from.

Not to mention, the EZ Crew doesn’t find Labilla in the same state she was. In fact, they didn’t find Labilla to begin with. In this universe, Amira infiltrated Belial Goer, pretended to be Labilla, and hid the real one in a dance hall. Rather than finding Labilla as the victim of Daichi’s sadistic tendencies, she was accidentally spotted by Homura.

In one sense, this power can be seen as Mashima finding yet another way to keep his characters from dying. As someone who has made that complaint multiple times about his writing, I understand where that comes from. This is something that has shown up in both of Mashima’s other major works.

However, we were well prepared for this aspect of Cat Leaper’s abilities by Rebecca’s fight with Nino in the previous arc. I questioned why this wasn’t a bigger aspect of Rebecca’s reaction to activating it originally. This doesn’t strike me as Mashima breaking the rules of reason to keep a character in the narrative. This feels like a deliberate choice on Mashima’s part.

When Rebecca unlocked Leaper in chapter 64, Xiaomei hints at her understanding of the Ether Gear being limited. She outright says, “This power may save the universe one day... Yes... it is the power of possibility.” That doesn’t sound like something you’d expect to be said about a simple speed boosting power. And we already knew that Leaper was more than just a speed boosting power.

Even before then, we were introduced to Xiaomei in chapter 5, who made an important declaration. “In this story, time doesn’t really mean much.” By the end of that arc, this could have been assumed to mean that, with the existence of chronophages, time can be more relative from planet to planet. When we learned that time could be reversed with Leaper, characters were less bound to time than they would have been otherwise.

Not to mention, Rebecca doesn’t make it through the jump unscathed. While she didn’t experience and physical torture, she had to live through the events of the future. She has the mental scars of the event and has been shown to be apprehensive about doing things that could cause harm to Shiki or Weisz.

In erasing the previous events of the arc, there was another important thing that happened. The nature of the arc changed. That’s not me being hyperbolic.

Up to chapter 82, the main goal for the arc was to fight Drakken Joe. The expectation of the arc would be to fight the various members of the EZ Crew to fight Drakken Joe’s goons, including the Element 4. Ultimately, this would culminate in a final battle between Shiki and Drakken Joe. That’s not a bad set up for an arc.

But, after the awakening of Cat Leaper, the arc still has the EZ Crew fight with Drakken Joe’s people, and Shiki still fights the Element 4. However, the change in events results in a shift of the arc’s focus. The motivation for these actions became trying to reach out to people who may become friends by the end of the arc in Kris and Labilla. Not to mention, there are reconciliations with Sibir and Amira, opposing forces from previous arcs, that were made possible by the change in events.

What does Cat Leaper’s awakening mean for the rest of the series?

I can’t say that Xiaomei’s assertion that time doesn’t reallly mean much should be taken as literal as it may seem. After all, the reason that the revised plan works at all is becasue she woke up at a different time than before. The extra thirty minutes was the difference between life and death.

However, knowing how Cat Leaper works really does change how we see the rest of the series. Our understanding of the series has shifted from a normal set of events happening on a linear timeline to a set of various timelines beginning and ending at various points where Rebecca come to and from.

Knowing that Rebecca has been using Cat Leaper to avoid other events has put a lot of moments into perspective. Of course, it explains the flash forward at the end of chapter 4 and the nightmare that Rebecca had in chapter 69.

However, it does leave fans with an interesting question: is it possible that Cat Leaper is responsible for the change in other events throughout the series? Does Rebecca die because of the kidnapping to Guilst by Illega in another timeline? Does her initial meeting with Shiki have a different result in a different timeline and is that meeting the result of Cat Leaper in the first place? Is the fact that Rebecca and Labilla aren’t friends anymore the result of Cat Leaper? These are questioned opened up to fans with the awakening of Cat Leaper.

As for how the awakening of Cat Leaper specifically affects Rebecca’s character from this moment on, that will stand to be determined. Her ability to become an Ether Master was mentioned in that previous timeline. However, I’m more interested in the after effects of the mental trauma she’s experienced through the jump in timelines. How that plays out will be interesting to see take place.

For example, if (not necessarily when) Mashima decides to push Shiki and Rebecca’s relationship towards a romance, we’re going to look back at what happened in this arc. This may be the start of Rebecca realizing that she wants Shiki to be more than just her friend. Presumably, Shiki would have something awaken similar feelings in him.

I’m not currently hyped over any EZ ship, but I love what we’ve been getting regarding Shiki and Rebecca’s relationship. The first chapters gave us a great look into their complimentary views on robots as people and friends. And as the chapters have continued, it’s been interesting to see their relationship change and grow. Recent chapters have even been showing links to their Ether Gear abilities. This moment serves as a great reminder of that.

Of course, this also could cut in a darker way. If Shiki ends up in a situation where his life is on the line, how will Rebecca respond? Even facing Drakken Joe before he fought Shiki was enough to trigger traumatic memories for her. Of course, Cat Leaper may come in to prevent his death from sticking. But at what point does Rebecca break from the stress of seeing her friends die again and again?

It’s worth noting that Mashima has been known to use both to his advantage in writing characters and character relationships. While an overall lighthearted series, Edens Zero has had its fair share of dark moments, starting from the very first chapter. It will be interesting to see what direction Mashima takes this in.

Where should Mashima go from here?

One thing I worry that current and future fans, along with Mashima’s detractors, may complain about is that a power such as Cat Leaper may result in the series tension becoming nonexistent. Of course, that’s contingent on Rebecca being able to control that part of Cat Leaper and that’s not entirely a given, considering we already know it causes a number of problems. But if that happens, that would theoretically mean that Mashima could kill characters and bring them back as he pleases. There’s no way Mashima could prevent this.

Right?

Let’s ignore the obvious issues with this accusation that we’ve already touched on somewhat. I doubt that people who’d make these accusations actually care if events differ from time lines, Rebecca carries mental scars from the events through the timelines, or that this was set up long before we got to chapter 84. They’d likely only care that a character who was dead is brought back.

Before chapter 99, I would have said that there was one important thing that Mashima can do in the future to prevent this accusation. If and when Rebecca activates Cat Leaper to undo previous events again, this ought to come the cost of something else. Yes, the group is able to prevent a character from dying in a new timeline, but it comes at the cost of something or someone else precious to the group. In some cases, a tragic incident can happen across both times despite trying to change events. 

Of course, this isn’t without precedent. In chapter 2, we learned that Happy died after a car accident and Professor Weisz is responsible for his current cyborg form. It was revealed that the first time Cat Leaper was ever used, it was used passively to correct her dying in that same accident. In other words, while Cat Leaper prevented her from dying, it wasn’t used to correct the incident altogether. In my eyes, that was proof enough that Cat Leaper isn’t a magic “get out of death free” card.

However, I still would have said Mashima would do well to not make that the only instance where escaping death comes at the price of something else. While I’ve thought losing Weisz’s arm might be the next step, as long as something important is lost that isn’t undone, the effect is the same.

What a difference a couple of weeks makes...

With the most recent chapters, it seems as though the current timeline has come at the cost of Captain Connor as part of the EZ Crew. While his impact on the series was relatively minor up to this point, it’s hard to say that his current position won’t have an effect on the series. When he first showed up, the existence of other Edens ships was debated. Chances are that the EZ Crew will have to meet with the Edens One sometime soon. It stands to be seen if that will be a happy meeting or not.

Now, if Mashima really wants to really mess with us, we’ll see Rebecca use Cat Leaper a few more times throughout the series. We’ll see some of the similar effects here and there. However, at the end of the series, we’ll see a lot of the major antagonists serve as the final bosses for the EZ Crew. As crazy as that might seem at this point in the series, if certain spoilers are anything to go by, I wouldn’t be shocked to see something like that happen.

In Conclusion:

Cat Leaper is an amazing moment in its own right. But, while its main focus was overwriting events of the series, it also managed to change the nature of both the arc and our understanding of the series. It will be fun to see what this means for the rest of the series and how Mashima plays with it.
