Ficfinder finds: firefight
Rottmnt Fanfic Summary: Donnie collided with Leo in a tangle of limbs. There was an instinctive cling in return from his twin, before the realization sunk in. "No." Leo breathed in his ear, immediately shattered. "No, no, no, no, no!” Every muscle in Donnie's body was shaking like an earthquake from the amount of effort he'd just expended. The explosion caught up to them, sending the twins spiralling away into space and debris. For one singular moment, Donnie allowed himself a burst of victory. His heart was still thudding a thousand miles an hour in his chest, having been absolutely terrified he wasn't going to make it in time. But he did. And he held onto Leo, his prize. Then they hit the ground, the sudden tumble bursting them apart. Donnie felt the world spin, rapid and disorientating, before he slammed into something rock and cracking under his impact. or: donnie doesn’t let leo go to hell alone

Disclaimer: This fanfic is unfinished, and as such, this post will be updated as fanfic updates. This fanfic is written by, @remedyturtles so go show them some love and support!! They write top notch fic's!
The fanfic ratings are not based on quality, favoritism, or how good I think it is, but rather, how intense a subject may be. Like a movie review, or the tags on Ao3, letting the readers know what to expect.
Plot: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
"Plot is five out of five!! Its simple, yet so complicated all in the same go. Never has a fic had me going "AAAA NO NO NO!!!" so many times in a row! The plot is simple enough to follow, and is quite literally explained in the beginning chapter summary, but the moment you get down into the thick of the details, it gets HEAVY!"
Suspense/Mystery: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
"Suspense/Mystery is five out of five!! Firefight has high and intense levels of suspense, so this fic is for all those readers out there who enjoy a good mental torture lol. There are a lot of plot twists, that once they happen, they seem obvious, but leading up to them? Nope, not obvious, very confusing, would read, go check it out!!!"
Angst/Hurt: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
"Angst/Hurt is five out of five!! Firefight is VERY angst heavy, and VERY hurt heavy. This fanfic will hurt like a knife to the heart. I'm not gonna lie, I genuinely cried at one or two points, it hurt that much. 100% would recommend."
Fluff/Comfort: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Fluff/Comfort is two out of five!! The comfort is there, don't worry, its just not comforting at all lol. Things are so bleak in firefight, that even the comfort is tinged with sadness, regret, and grief. This story is very heavy on the disaster twins angst and comfort, so if you like disaster twins, this is absolutely something you should read!"
Emotions Conveyed: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€
"Emotions Conveyed is four out of five!! Remember how I said I cried? The author of firefight does such a good job conveying emotions, that it genuinely messed with my head, and then I cried. Powerful, and when I say powerful, I mean POWERFUL writing! You're gonna feel things while reading this fanfic!"
Drama/Tension Level:πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
"Drama/Tension Level is five out of five!! There is never a moment of rest. Every chapter has something going on, and you will fear for these turtles lives, every second you're reading firefight! There's high tensions, and the drama of arguments and things best never said. Poor Donnie and Leo break each others hearts saying things they do and don't mean (t*cent dni pls)."
Triggers: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
"Triggers are five out of five!! Read the tags for firefight, its important. Plus, this fic is marked mature due to its very triggering nature, so stay safe everyone, read with caution, and mentally prepare yourself!"
Legibility (Reading): πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
"Legibility (Reading) is five out of five!! This fic is very enjoyable to read! The way its written is smooth, easy on the eyes, and well-written! This fic is one that can be enjoyed both by reading, or listening!"
Legibility (Audio): πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
"Legibility (Audio) is five out of five!! I have listened to every single chapter in audio book form, and they have never ever disappointed! Firefight is 100% just as good in audio book form as it is in reading form. Perfect to listen to while working or doing busy work, especially since its a high stress fanfic, and for me personally I like doing something with my hands while reading high stress fanfics."
Length: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Length is three out of five!! firefight has a chapter count of 43 chapters, and each chapter takes about 20-45 minutes to read, though they're occasionally longer. It really depends on how intense a chapter is, as the crazier, usually the longer."

Plot: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Plot is two out of five!! We're getting there on the plot-o-meter! See, this is one of those fanfics that has a minimal plot, that is fairly simple to explain, though once you dive into the actual story, its insanely detailed and deep!!"
Suspense/Mystery: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Suspense/Mystery is three out of five!! The suspense is ramping up!! Every little moment where the disaster twins believe they may be caught is a stressful moment!!"

Fluff/Comfort: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€

Emotions Conveyed: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Emotions Conveyed gets a two out of five!! The stress and fear Donnie feels is quite tangible in this chapter. While it might not mess with your head to badly, its still a powerful chapter."
Drama/Tension Level: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Drama/Tension Level is three out of five!! The drama between the twins and their fighting , along with the tension of running for safety? Yeesh!! Intense in a good way!"

Legibility (Reading): πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

Legibility (Audio): πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
"Legibility (Audio) gets a five out of five!! Would highly recommend listening to, especially as the chapters progress, and the stress levels climb."

Firefight: Story Ratings and Chapter List
Personal thoughts on chapter below cut (Contains Spoilers)
To start off, I rather enjoy seeing how well the twins know each other in this story. They just know how to push each others buttons, along with comfort each other perfectly.
Donnie turned, slow, to look at his twin brother. Leo was glowing soft -- like the streetlights over a graveyard, like the candles on an altar -- as he shook out his fingers to grip his sword and chop another chunk of ice off the block. The flutter of blue mask tails, and the way his eyes flickered to Donnie and automatically offered a reassuring smile.
I rather enjoy seeing Donnie's glorified view of Leo right here. Leo is his safe person, his person who he relies upon when nothing is reliable. He doesn't see Leo like how Leo sees himself. The little analogy of 'the streetlights over a graveyard,' or 'the candles on an altar' is such a beautiful analogy. Because, while they are surrounded by death and fear, Leo is acting as Donnie's beacon. They are lost in a graveyard, filled with death and decay, yet Donnie still sees Leo like his lamppost in the graveyard.
"What are you thinking?" Leo approached at his left and Donnie jumped a mile, like he'd missed a step. "Nothing." Donnie replied automatically, practically suffocated by the twine around his windpipe.
Leo asks Donnie what he's thinking, and Donnie replies "nothing". Donnie asks Leo how he's feeling, and Leo replies "fine". I enjoy seeing the different ways they check on each other, with Leo asking what Donnie is thinking, especially since Donnie is far more of a thought process kind of guy. Meanwhile, Leo is more of a feelings and emotions person, despite how much he denies it.
When Donnie sat, Leo crouched in front of him and scanned up and down like he was trying to diagnose the issue. Donnie thought instead about how effortlessly they both used 'we' statements whenever they wanted the other to do something -- it reallyΒ shouldn'tΒ have been a surprise to Leo that Donnie had jumped in the portal after him, because they'd been speaking this language of 'if you, then me' for their whole lives. We. Our. Twins, a matching set, a pair, Do Not Separate.
'If you, than me.' The amount of times Donnie says this, thinks this, acts upon this... Wow, rereading this after reading later into firefight makes this hard. I enjoy seeing Donnie being the more reliant, dependent twin, as opposed to Leo always following Donnie, or absolutely needing Donnie.
I love how during the end of the chapter, Donnie begins to infodump to help Leo calm down. Info dumping, and data collection helps Donnie to calm down, meanwhile the sound of Donnie's voice helps to sooth Leo's mind. Personally, I understand why Leo fell asleep to Donnie talking. Its not necessarily that what Donnie was saying bored him to sleep, but rather the fact that Donnie's words help drown out the thoughts in Leo's mind, providing a soothing background noise. There is nothing quite as comforting as a loved sibling talking to you about the most random junk while you fall asleep. Its like listening to music to relax, except for its your siblings voice.

Plot: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€
"Plot is four out of five!! Right off the bat, the plot for this chapter is entertaining, entrancing, and attention capturing! This chapter, is the catalyst for the whole story. Donnie following Leo through the portal, and into the prison dimension is what creates this whole story, like an alternate timeline."
Suspense/Mystery: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Suspense/Mystery is three out of five!! While there is little to no mystery, the entirety of this chapter is built on suspense! What's going to happen? Why did Donnie follow Leo? ARE THEY GOING TO SURVIVE?"
Angst/Hurt: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Angst/Hurt is two out of five! Reading it for the first time, there is less angst to be found, and more drama instead. However, once you get further into the fic, I would highly encourage that you come back and reread the first chapter again. Everything hits SO much harder after that."
Fluff/Comfort: πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Fluff/Comfort is zero out of five!! No comfort to be found in this chapter, along with zero fluff! Just pain and stress ^^"
Emotions Conveyed: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Emotions Conveyed gets a two out of five!! This chapter contains a wide variety of dramatic and stressful emotions, though I predict that the only thing you'll feel while reading this chapter, is a sense of confusion, stress, and the urge to read the next chapter lol."
Drama/Tension Level: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€
"Drama/Tension Level gets a four out of five!! The moment Leo and Donnie get a chance to speak, tension is high, drama is drama-ing, and things are bad!"
Triggers: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Triggers for this chapter are two out of five!! This chapter is not a very triggering chapter, so you folks are safe for now! Keep in mind though, that there are still triggers, and that it may be a good idea to read the tags before starting this fic."
Legibility (Reading): πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€
"Legibility (Reading) is four out of five!! This chapter is a rather enjoyable one to read. The writing style is easy on the eyes, and fun to read, especially as many of the words are emphasized through the use of italics."
Legibility (Audio): πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
"Legibility (Audio) gets a five out of five!! To be honest, I adored listening to this chapter in audio book form! The writing style sounds very nice when spoken aloud, making it a fun listen!!"
Length: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Length is three out of five!! Chapter 1 of firefight takes about 24-25 minutes to listen to!!"

Firefight: Story Ratings and Chapter List
Personal thoughts on chapter below cut (Contains Spoilers)
At the very start of the chapter, this is displayed.
It's firefight and I, I won't run There's spit and spite all through my blood For you and me, there's nowhere left to hide Except you and me, there's no one else alive - Firefight by Jimmy Eat World
At first I thought, this might be a poem, then after some research, I realized that this is a song called firefight, and the lyrics are;
This is where our diligence has lead The waves roll in to claim our patient steps Can we become more than just ourselves? And leave the sand, I wonder will I doubt
It's firefight, I won't run. They're spitting spite all through my blood For you and me, there's nowhere left to hide Except you and me, there's no one else alive
This is now the moment after next. All these still the eyes of the temptress Why open the door if you won't go? Don't ask twice if you don't wanna know.
It's firefight, I won't run. They're spitting spite all in my blood For you and me, there's nowhere left to hide Except you and me, there's no one else alive
Is there an answer? If it's an honest one, honestly worth this question There's no question The city has no witness I am who I wanna be, but you could be anything Just be anything here with me. Love is quartz and breaths the secondhand If you let go then that's where time will stand.
It's firefight, I won't run. They're spitting spite all through my blood
For you and me, there's nowhere left to hide Except you and me, there's no one else alive It's firefight, I won't run. They're spitting spite all through my blood For you and me, there's nowhere left to hide Except you and me, there's no one else alive.
youtube
To be honest, I feel as if this song speaks perfectly for firefight, and completely frames the story plot.
Each verse followed by the main chorus, represents an arc of the story. Now, I really want to delve deep into this, because I feel like I've found something really cool, however, I'll restrain myself and only focus on the beginning bits, as they apply to the first arc. Though, I will continue to reference the song 'firefight' as I go through the chapters.
In the very first verse it says;
"This is where our diligence has lead The waves roll in to claim our patient steps Can we become more than just ourselves? And leave the sand, I wonder will I doubt"
I feel like this is incredibly symbolic of the fight against the Krang, and the twin's struggle in the prison dimension. Their diligence lead them to the prison dimension, effectively erasing them from their brothers lives, like footprints in the sand. They left their lives behind, to be forever changed. Donnie, upon coming into the prison dimension, tells Leo he has no regret. No doubts.
In the second verse, it says
"It's firefight and I, I won't run There's spit and spite all through my blood"
To pair with that;
There was distant shouts from his brothers, but it didn’t matter because they were okay, they were fine and Leo was about toΒ notΒ be. The urgency pushed his ninpo, twisting back his bo and summoning veritable jet engines to propel him towards the portal. There wasn’t enoughΒ time. He just needed a little moreΒ time.
Donnie didn't run away from danger, but rather towards his twin. He made it to him, through pure spite, fighting to reach him. The writing for this is incredible!!
"AreΒ youΒ okay?" Donnie asked, because Leo still had that lost-panicked look, fingers fluttering uselessly at his side, mouth parted. "Am I okay?" Leo repeated, incredulous. "What the hell, Donnie?" "Ah." Donnie let his head thud back, swallowing his sore throat and finally catching up to what was going on. "So youΒ wereΒ trying to die, then."
I find these few paragraph right here to be very impactful, especially with how the story progresses. Donnie says this with such causality, like its a fact to be stated, and Leo is completely frantic. Donnie almost seems as if he knew something like this was going to happen all along.
"You're going to hurt yourself." Donnie said, tiredly. "What?" Leo snapped, swinging the sword back down to his side with an audible slice through the air. "You don't want me to try and get home after our family just lostΒ bothΒ of us? What theΒ fuck, Donnie?"
To further emphasize how completely panicked Leo is, he blames Donnie, gaslights him, and is downright harsh. He's scared, upset and confused, and was cheated out of his so-called heroic death, and as such he's directing his anger towards the first and closest person, who happens to be Donnie.
"I wasn't going to leave you to die alone." Donnie told him, completely unshaken in his decision, even in the face of Leo's true anger. Mostly because he was pretty annoyed too. "And since you'd decided, quite ridiculously I may add, that you were going to die. Then I was coming too."
I don't want to reference later chapters often, as I'd prefer to stick to the chapter I'm working on in the moment, but this paragraph right here just hits so hard after reading chapter 31 where Donnie and Leo have the following conversation.
Donnie was so done. β€œI know what you think. And I'm saying, if you, then me.” There wasn’t enough room in this space for how much volume the silence that followed inhabited. Full to bursting. Leo’s face drained of colour, a trembling mouth. He said, haunted, β€œβ€¦ What?” β€œIf you, then me.” Donnie repeated, stubborn and shaking just as hard.
All this time, the whole time, Donnie tells his twin, "If you, then me." Right in the beginning, all the way further on in. "If you, then me."
This whole chapter is so impactful, starting off with a bang, and ending with a heartbreak.

Firefight: Story Ratings and Chapter List
Personal thoughts on chapter below cut (Contains Spoilers)
"I really think we have enough problems without you creating new ones. I actually don't think I've ever felt this frustrated with you and I survived your entire Nyan Cat phase." Donnie's brain immediately began to play the Nyan Cat song, which he had listened on loop for weeks. It was a particularly stark contrast of that moment to this one, that made him feel off-balance and unwell. Sugar sweet music as he watched the wretched expression on Leo's face twist and try to find somewhere to settle. What game his twin was going to try and play next to win.
I know this chapter is supposed to be on the more serious side, but this was just really funny to me!! I remember being younger, and thinking Nyan Cat was great lol.
Donnie really let himself sink into the freezing atmosphere, weaponizing all his innocent little brother energy, "But Leo, I'mΒ cold." "Evil." Leo pointed directly at him. "Evil. Put that face away. What are you,Β Mikey?"
I can just imagine this scene so vividly, but its a lot funnier in my mind lol. Donnie, with huge sparkly eyes, pouting ever so slightly. I know I said this chapter is on the more intense side, which it is, but my brain is also just broken lol.
"So your hypothesis is that because Dad was capable of using your sword, it is a Hamato shared power instead of just Dad being incredibly versatile?" Donnie asked, managing to get his voice in something resembling his preferred monotone instead of this tortured arguing that was all Leo's fault for starting. "My hippopotamus is that it'd be stupid if we didn't at least try and see how many assets were have at our disposal." Leo replied, rolling his eyes up towards the shallow ceiling, flopping the hand away from his face. "I am not proposing any semi-aquatic mammals, thank you." Donnie said, stiffly. He spun the sword agilely, having practiced with enough weapons over the years that a sword wasn't too hard to play with. There wasn't any noticeable spark of ninpo, however. "I doubt this will work, unless you feel as if you'd be able to build constructs like I do. Hell, can you imagine doing Mikey's chain thing?"
:) Hippopotamus
His markings lit the corpse in faint violet. Not human, not Kraang, something slumped over with jaw detached and hanging. Painted on the inside was some kind of writing -- whatever it was, the same alien word over and over -- and the alien's appendage was torn open and caked in the same dark substance covering the wall. Something about the stillness of the corpse, the vacant stare of what could've been a face -- it immediately turned Donnie's stomach, let alone the desperation needed to decorate the walls of your tomb in your own blood. He wanted to know what the word was. He hoped he never had to know.
I wonder what everyone imagined the alien to look like. The description is a little vague, leaving so much of it up to the imagination. I wonder, was the alien in peoples minds, ugly, pretty, cool, or something else? Perhaps they based it off of another design they've seen before, their brain latching onto the first idea it could generate. When we hear the word alien, does it influence what we see or imagine? Would something else have been imagined if the word 'creature' or 'being' was used?
Through the steam on the other side, maybe Leo had thought he wouldn't see, or maybe he had no idea he was subconsciously doing it -- but he signed his real answer, a fist in a circle against his chest.Β I'm sorry.
I enjoy how actual sign language signs are used in this fic. Many fics I've read don't elaborate on what signs are being used. Its a small detain, but a special one.

Firefight: Story Ratings and Chapter List
Personal thoughts on chapter below cut (Contains Spoilers)
"Scoff." Donnie said, loud and scathing and echoing in the small dark space. "Shut the fuck up Nardo, you are literally a chess grandmaster, you don't get to pretend you're not smart." A vivid memory, so close he could reach out and touch it -- sitting crossed legged on a pillow, biting his thumbnail, glaring at the smug face of his twin as he danced his knight around the chessboard and announced on each turn, "Check. Check. Check." "Leo, stop toying with him." Raph had said, from the other side of the room, gruffly amused. "Oh, but it's so much fun." Leo had said, chewing on a grin. "Checkmate."
Ah I simply adore this headcanon!! Chess is indeed a very complicated game that goes beyond just the rules on the board. The entrance you use, the tricks you apply, how well you know your opponent. Chess truly is a game of pure strategy. It makes a lot of sense for Leo to have this ability.
Leo often claims that Donnie is the smart twin, however, he's just smart in a different way. Donnie is intellectually smart, relying on facts, and knowledge while Leo is emotionally smart, understanding how emotions effect people, and how to manipulate people.
"You left me hereΒ alone." Donnie couldn't breathe, like there was a metal band around his chest, getting close enough to push Leo again, rebounding him against the wall. Leo steadied himself, not fighting back, and set his jaw grimly when he said, "It was for your own good."
Leo is Donnie's safe person. The person he relies on to help when everything else feels like its all going down hill. This is about more than just Leo leaving Donnie behind. This is everything safe and good, and comforting that Donnie knows, leaving him behind in an unfamiliar place.
It was stupid to put the whole block in at once, so Donnie extended his hand towards Leo, not looking over when he said, "Give me your sword." Hesitation. Leo didn't move. Donnie cut his gaze over, still furious, and commanded, "Give it to me." Leo grabbed his sword and flipped it in his palm to hold by the blade and offer Donnie the hilt. He was pale with a wobbling smile that couldn't quite stay on his lips, a slipping facade.
I just love the amount of raw emotion displayed in this paragraph here. The anger Donnie displays, the fear Leo is hiding, the hesitancy he shows, all of it.
Donnie didn't have time to feel the way his heart wrung like a wet towel at the sight. He snatched up the sword and hacked the block down into a smaller chunk to start, placing it in the bottom of the pot. He let his ninpo crackle at his fingertips in purple sparks, summoning a small construct modelled after a camping stove, if a camping stove was powered with induction heating instead of propane. The pot settled on the conjured element and Donnie pumped the system with alternating current via ninpo. It took a bit of focus to get the output right, watching the way the ice began to slide around the bottom of the pot and form a shallow pool of water. Blessed water. He was so thirsty.
I just gotta point out how clever this solution is. I certainly wouldn't have thought of it!!
But you know what they say about horseshoes and hand grenades.
Y'know I actually didn't know what the saying about horseshoes and hand grenades meant. So, I looked it up!! The original saying goes as such; "Close don't count in baseball. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades". In baseball, close doesn't count. Only an outright score does. However, in horseshoes, the closer you get to the target, the higher your score. Pretty much the same with hand grenades, except for the concept is a little more gruesome. So when people say this little saying, they mean your efforts don't count unless they actually achieve something.
"Pops." Raph said, rough, immediately pushing him away before he could even think about it. "No, don't. I lost them. I lost all of them." "My lovely red." Splinter forced him to meet his eye, and he looked fuckingΒ wrecked. "Can you please let me enjoy for a moment the child that IΒ canΒ hold?" "Oh." Raph's mouth wobbled, and he hugged his dad.
I don't have anything insightful to say about this except, T-T

Ficfinder finds: firefight
Chapter 2
Chapter 2 Summary: No summary
firefight Chapter 2: Appraisal and Ratings
(Don't know what fanfic "Appraisal and Ratings" means? Check out my explanation on my Main Masterpost! Looking for a different fanfic to read? Head on over to my Fanfic List Masterpost!)
Disclaimer: This fanfic is written by, @remedyturtles so go show them some love and support!! They write top notch fic's!
The fanfic ratings are not based on quality, favoritism, or how good I think it is, but rather, how intense a subject may be. Like a movie review, or the tags on Ao3, letting the readers know what to expect.
Plot: πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Plot is one out of five!! This chapter isn't very plot heavy, which makes sense as its only the beginning of the story. However, regardless of having minimal plot, its still a highly enjoyable read!"
Suspense/Mystery: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Suspense/Mystery is two out of five!! This chapter contains minimal amounts of mystery, and is more on the suspense side. While nothing suspenseful in the moment is happening, the whole story itself in this moment is made of suspense, because like, how are the twins gonna get outta this mess?"
Angst/Hurt: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Angst/Hurt is two out of five! Both the twins are just in so much shock, that all that can be conveyed, is confusion and guilt. My favorite little angsty bit in this chapter, is how every time Donnie attempt to talk about how he's there with his twin, all Leo can say is "Not now." This just feels like such a powerful statement to me."
Fluff/Comfort: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Fluff/Comfort is two out of five!! We actually get some comfort in this chapter, so soak it all up!! An equal amount of comfort to the amount of angst in this chapter."
Emotions Conveyed: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Emotions Conveyed gets a two out of five!! While this chapter won't mess with your head to bad, you may find yourself smiling from how precious Donnie is with Leo. In most fanfics, Leo is often turning to Donnie as his safe person, or as the person he feels will understand/ I absolutely adore how the roles are reversed in firefight! Leo is Donnie's safe person, and while Leo feels immensely stressed knowing that his twin is in the prison dimension with him, Donnie can only feel a sense of relief knowing that he's with his comfort person. That Leo is within sight."
Drama/Tension Level: πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Drama/Tension Level gets a one out of five!! Tension is a little high between the twins, though that's to be expected due to being trapped in an eternal hell."
Triggers: πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Triggers for this chapter are one out of five!! Minimal triggers for this chapter!!"
Legibility (Reading): πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€
"Legibility (Reading) is four out of five!! I particularly enjoy the little banter scenes, and when thoughts and/or unspoken words are written in italics."
Legibility (Audio): πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
"Legibility (Audio) gets a five out of five!! Beautiful and fun to listen to!! Would recommend!!"
Length: πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€
"Length is three out of five!! Chapter 2 of firefight takes about 27-28 minutes to listen to!!"

Firefight: Story Ratings and Chapter List
Personal thoughts on chapter below cut (Contains Spoilers)
This chapter just has such a powerful feeling of being lost, and helpless. In the beginning, I really enjoyed seeing the shift Leo displayed, where he's being angry, argumentative, and just hardly holding back tears, switching once Donnie has a question for him, and he's able to revert to a task, his tone becomes very bland, focusing on the information.
Never mind. He was safe as houses. The tension leaked from his shoulders and Donnie turned to hug his pillow. A shocked pause, then a damp laugh. Leo said, "Sleepytello coming in for the cuddles, hey?" "Everythin' okay?" Donnie muttered, disorientated. "Oh yeah." Leo scoffed, voice not quite put together, not quite perfect. "We're doing fantastic, D. You keep sleeping."
This bit right here is so precious to me. Donnie is so innocent in this moment, holding onto his dearest twin, completely unaware how broken Leo is in this moment. Leo is clearly crying, but he keeps it well hidden, hiding away his tears so that his twin would sleep.
"Taps means water." Leo said, full confidence, keeping his grip on Donnie's hand and skating the other on the wall as they moved to the door. His sword was strapped to his back and his soft glowing stripes reminded Donnie of a jellyfish or a cloud of fireflies.
This little comparison is wonderful! Like a jellyfish, Leo goes with the flow, survives on his own, is bright and colorful, and falls prey to turtles, aka his brothers; the only ones he'd do anything for. Like fireflies, Leo is bright, flashy, and lights the way, yet scatters when confronted by others, distracting and dissuading.
"What?" Leo turned and gave his twin one of his shy smiles. It lifted Donnie's heart to see it here. He drew Leo's own sword off his back and bonked him gently in the head with the hilt.
I just wanted to highlight these paragraphs, because Leo's little smile is so precious, and I love it.

Now that I'm all caught up adding my personal thoughts, I'll continue the appraising. Thank you all for your support!!
