This one blew my mind and broke my heart simultaneously even though I know nothing about baseball.

Jack can’t perfectly shift into anyone anyway; he has to concentrate and base his shifts on what he’s seen, what he knows of someone else’s face and body. So he’s never a perfect copy, often missing freckles or getting the hair or eye shades slightly off. He can’t shift his own dick into someone else’s if he’s never seen it, which is what most guys want to know. He thinks he’s got Nico’s face down pretty well. He’s spent enough time looking at it by now. or, the USNTDP is a program designed to help mutant hockey players control their powers, and Jack’s a shapeshifter who is starting to suspect Nico can read his mind.

Very interesting concept.

what's up my pals my reading this month was uhhhhhhh unhinged? clearly i'm doing, based on the number of found family fics i have read and the fact that i reread both cut to the feeling and once more with feeling this month, rip 2 me everyone

but anyway, must reads for this month:

-i know i was yours long before you were mine by sensationalshehulk is such a fun little nate bastian/mikey mcleod fic. absolutely love the premise (marriage clause!!!!!) and the vibes and the way the team all tries to help keep these two together even when scattered across the globe, very sweet

-it's hard to be a saint in the city by theaa was a super compelling jack hughes/nolan patrick fic. i loved this characterization of jack so much, and i really think the fic made this ship work, made it compelling and engaging and it's fun read

-tragic ends by trueneutral is an absolutely lovely quinton byfield/alex turcotte ghost/haunted house fic. it takes a certain something for me to enjoy a fic around a ghost, and this has it. really cool world building, the dynamic between quinton and alex is perfect, and i got SO emotional reading it

Yes. I think Jamie/Trevor is one of my fave pairings I like to read in a college AU set up, don’t know why it suite them well. Loved Trevor being all sad because Jamie couldn’t hang with him and being worried about his work/life/health balance and stuff. And perfect ending, obviously. - @macknnons

Ao3 year in review

Word count: 43,782

i’ve already said this five million times but i’m going to say it again lol i really have no idea how i wrote that many words, let alone found the courage to post them on the internet but here we are and it’s a real nice place to be

Most kudos: a little heads up, and it might be my favorite thing that i wrote this year, so feel its deserved haha and thanks to theaa’s wonderful prompting or i probably would never have attempted to write the three of them together 

Longest: keep the lanterns lit, i’m so proud that i even finished this, it was a struggle to keep the momentum through some life stuff that came up, but i’m happy i finished and posted it and that my last tk/patty fic is a lil soft thing bc i’m not sure i’ll be writing anything more for them for a bit

Shortest: innocence and fucking gucci, lmao fever dream mitch/harry styles my beloved, thanks to v for the inspirational tags, it was so much fun to write a self-indulgent lil one shot

Personal favorite: okay i already said it was a little heads up, but i’m going to choose another one because it feels nice to talk positively about my writing and i also really love somewhere west of wherever because it’s the rarest of pairs and it was so satisfying to make dylan and patty come together in a plausible way and also i got to write one of my favorite tropes of sleeping with one person to process a relationship with someone else

2022 goals/expectations: i don’t have any particular goals for the year, the reason i was so prolific (for me) the last year and a half was because i was un/under employed and i’m still trying to find the balance with writing for fun after writing for work all day. so i’m not putting any pressure on myself, but i would like to do at least one exchange fest, and finish at least one of my languishing wips and if i post at least two things this year i’m going to call it a success!

Geesh, this is kinda uncomfortable hahah. But I am proud of myself when I can write some angst that makes everyone all wild in the comments. It feels nice to be able to tell a story that gets a reaction from people. 

6) What do you admire about other writers?

Their talent for being able to sometimes make their stories even better than canon. 

7) Do you listen to music whilst you write?

ALWAYS. I have specific playlists I make for it. (I’d be willing to share if any of you care lol)
