Wanted to do this random Adam QnA thing I found on Twitter here cause I thought’s it be fun!

Adam ships are complicated for me. Let’s get the obvious ones out of the way, I LOVE AdamsApple, GuitarSpear, and more recently GuitarGate. But While AdamsApple is my major one, I only like it if it’s done right. I dislike when they make, for example, Sinner Adam get treated like garbage by Lucifer and he’s in charge of ‘punishing’ Adam or something like that. IDK the concept just seems toxic, which I know, the ship itself WILL have inherent levels of toxicity, but it still rubs me the wrong way. Just my opinion tho

As for ships I don’t like, I’m pretty open with his ships but one I’m not a fan of is GuitarPrincess. There’s nothing illegal with it, so I’m not going to attack you for it. Im just not a fan of it. Another one is probably Alastor x Adam. I just don’t see it. They both oppose eachother in literally everything. Adam hates Jazz, Alastor loves it. Alastor doesn’t seem to like people more powerful than him and only respect them because he’s afraid of them (just my theory) and he clearly didn’t respect Adam because he completely underestimated how strong the first man would be. but ship what you want within reason OFC

Sigh I wish. I LOVE the concept of Sinner! Adam because IT JUST MAKES SENSE! The whole show is about redemption and how bad of a soul can actually be redeemed in the hotel. Him being reincarnation as a sinner would be both the perfect karma for him, but also the perfect test for Charlie. She couldn’t turn him away, even if she hates him. She’d be a massive hypocrite for letting Alastor work with her and also just general defeating the purpose of a hotel being completely open to all sinners.

But…. Something I’ve had a constant fear for about Adam coming back as a sinner is, that Lute might kill him. I just feel like it’s something that COULD happen as her view of sinners becomes even more warped. I just wouldn’t want that to happen, to bring him back only to kill him would be worse than just not bringing him back at all.

As for what I would want to happen, I’d like to see him and Lucifer ‘reconcile’ and to know more about what actually happened in Eden. With them reconciling, I also don’t want it to be solely on Adam to do, Lucifer also has to be able to accept that he hurt Adam and pretty much fucked him up for life. I don’t want the entire blame of the issue to be on Adam because it just seems like a waste of character development for BOTH of them.

Whether or not Adam will return in season 2… I would say he won’t. I think Abel is there to fill his absence BUT I do think we’ll get him in Season 3 (maybe even teased in the end credits of season 2 maybe?) I do want him to return, but I want it to be handled with care. I want him to have a redemption arc because it’d suck if characters like Lucifer, Vox or LILITH are given a slap on the wrist for what they’ve done in the show. And I ESPECIALLY don’t want them to kill him after he returns or make him a joke character to be bullied 😔

Hmmmm, I’d like to think he’s a good dad for the sole reason that I love Dad! Adam content, but I can see it going either way TBH. Abel seems more open to people and less of an asshole, so he probably thinks of Abel as a Wimp. But I think that his view of Abel was heavily affected by what happened with him and Cain. He could potentially see Abel as nothing but a child because he see’s him as helpless after witnessing his death. (Similar to how Sera sees Emily)

My main and only hope is that they don’t make him an Abusive deadbeat or something (if they do I WILL ignore it lol)

Cause in the Bible he was the first human to die, but in Hazbin, Adam was the first. So maybe Cain killed Adam then Abel? Or maybe Abel was sent to purgatory and was only let out after Adam died? Who knows!

What do you think of the dynamic of Vox and Al vs something like Lucifer and Al? Personally I've noticed that something Alastor craves, behind the mask of his static smiling persona, is attention. He's (at least how I saw it) usually peeved when people don't care about his absence, and seems especially bothered by the King of Hell refusing to really acknowledge him, so he goes out of his way to push Lucifers buttons (like calling himself a father figure to Charlie, IN FRONT OF HER ACTUAL FATHER LOL) whereas with Vox, Vox is literally CONSTANTLY thinking about Alastor. Man literally interrupted his regular TV program to do a segment about how much he totally didn't at ALL care about Alastors dissapearance or the fact that he returned (suree buddy). So Alastor can have more fun with him and annoy him by ignoring and messing with him on purpose.

As for your questions:

1. I'm assuming that was a typo and that you mean Vox (but in case you did mean Val: that was just a funny accident of him walking by the room! Alastor wasn't paying enough attention until it was too late), and to that I say:

I think Alastor allows Vox to take a go at him in canon because he finds Vox's obsession with him to be entertaining, but also because Alastor is kind of a narcissist and that same obsession massively feeds his ego, especially in a political climate that otherwise forgot about Alastor. Vox's whole "Who gives a shit about Alastor coming back?! Haha, now let me have a public meltdown and short out power to the whole city about it! Oh, fuck, why is he back, though?? Can we send a spy in to find out??" is exactly the reaction that Alastor wants every time he mentions his mysterious absence and gets brushed off.

At the same time, Alastor doesn't seem to register Vox as a sincere and genuine threat. He's a big enough fish in the Pride Ring pond that his obsession with Alastor is gratifying, but Alastor's self-absorption also doesn't really allow him to treat Vox as a threat tier above "annoying in a funny way, and also television is stupid." (Perhaps this will change in season 2... :eyes: (or perhaps Alastor will get Even Worse) (please god let him get even worse))

So those two things in combination make Vox the perfect candidate for Alastor to experiment with while maintaining his ego and not feeling particularly threatened. Despite Vox's Safeword 101 talk, Alastor would never put stock into that system with Vox unless he was certain that he himself would be able to back up a 'no' with overwhelming force. Him even considering safewords in the Live On Air! series is less for his own sake and more a politesse he offers on Vox's request to warn Vox to slow the fuck down before Alastor tries to put his insides on the outside.

2. And in direct contrast, we have Lucifer...

... Who Alastor obviously actually cares quite a bit about, because he's a whole nother power tier from both Vox and Alastor, and furthermore and possibly even more importantly, a credible threat to Alastor's relationships and standing in the hotel. I think a lot of discussion I see about Alastor prodding Lucifer seems to talk about how quickly he got annoyed about Lucifer's comments, but that misses the fact that he was pissed off before Lucifer even showed up. He got pissy the moment he saw the welcome sign, actually! And I wager that he was narratively absent for the scene where Charlie actually calls Lucifer because he would have done his best to manipulate her out of doing so had be been there.

And given that the two clearly haven't met before (though obviously Alastor knows of Lucifer - and hates that the inverse isn't true, hah), it's not 100% clear exactly why he's immediately so annoyed, but in my personal view of things and barring something like "he's projecting onto Lucifer because his contract is with Lilith," I think that what we know of Alastor's personality points most strongly to "he liked being the hotel's benefactor and sees it as His Project, and doesn't like the idea that Charlie called daddy for something that she thought mysterious, powerful Alastor couldn't handle." He distracts a lot with obviously-goading comments about practically being Charlie's dad in his duet with Lucifer, but underneath that he puts a lot of emphasis on the work he's done for the hotel and the fact that he's been supporting Charlie and the hotel from the start, so why the fuck is this deadbeat asshole suddenly turning up?!

Tl;dr: Charlie missed her insight roll on Alastor's personal investments and he's sooooo offended - and taking it out on Lucifer!

I think one of my favorite things about both Lucifer and Alastor is that they both sooo obviously belong in the Pride Ring, hahaha.

Thank you @melpomenelamusa for tagging me! I'm going to use "Voyagers" just because it's the one fresh in my mind right now.

1. What is the main lesson of your story? Why did you choose it?

Honestly, my stories rarely ever have a message behind them. They're very self-indulgent. I just like seeing my boys suffer. I'm also just a big stickler for whumper-turned-whumpee tropes and this was a good story to try. If I had to guess a theme or a message that might come out through the story later, it might just be as simple as learning to be more humble. Maybe learn to be more kind, you know, the whole "karma is a bitch" thing, well just don't be a bitch. Lol

2. What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?

Probably "Pirates of the Caribbean", especially for the setting, attire, and slang. Also siren folklore, but putting my own creative spin on it along the way. Like Caspians lack of a siren voice traded off with godly powers that very few royals in a generation are born with.

3. What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness or help the reader grow as a person?

There was nothing to teach with this story, just trying to put more whump into the community so we can all have a good time making silly blorbos suffer. It's also a little interesting, choosing who the main character is because in my head both Malik and Caspian are the main characters of the whole story. They'll both be the most fleshed out characters and interacting with each other, but I think in my head I'm leaning towards the ending being with Malik, so for now let's just consider him the main character. He's just trying to have a full-filling and meaningful life. building a legacy for pirates of generations to look to for inspiration. His ruthlessness and daring personality are what have gotten him out of his dead-end life and become the captain he is. By the end, I guess we'd expect a lesson from him being to appreciate whats been in front of you and understand that kindness goes a long way.

4. How many chapters is your story going to have?

I have no idea. A million if I could, lmao. It'll basically end whenever I feel the story is conclusive enough, but that also doesn't include side stories, AU's, or prompts that might become canon.

5. Is it fan fiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

Original work! I'm not a big fan fic person when it comes to writing because I always feel like I can't get into the character. Like, I don't know what quips they'd have, what their internal thoughts would be, stuff like that. So original characters make me feel more confident since I know them, I made them. I only ever post here on Tumblr, I do have an AO3 account so maybe I'll post there too one day.

6. When did you start writing?

For this story specifically, it was around Fall 2024. In general, since forever, but for shits and giggles. Never serious, fleshed out stories with characters that have actual backstories.

7. Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr? What other writers do you follow?

I don't think I have a lot of advice to give, let alone super insightful advice. I will say that I've seen a lot of writers struggling with feeling obligated to put out something for their audience under a deadline and the pressure builds up. Don't feel pressured. Write when you want to, when it comes to you, when you love what you're writing. The people who actually appreciate your work will wait patiently and be there when you publish your work. There will always be someone nagging you and saying how you should put out more faster. Everyone works at a different pace and life gets in the way. Don't stress. The only ones who need to suffer here are our characters because we love them :)

I have a guilty pleasure of reading Jegulus fics. Despite I shouldn't because of reasons-

#1 They are repetitive in their characterization. James is never shown as canon James that is cruel, arrogant and intelligent. Regulus is changed to diluted version of Sirius but with some self preservation because the dude went to Slytherin.

#2 I am majorly into Prongsfoot (obviously into romantic James and sirius for all those requiring clarification). So I feel like I am cheating on my babies for reading this fic where james is with sirius's brother.

# I hate wolfstar and Lupin with a passion. And if you had read a Jegulus fic, you will know that that pairing doesn't comes without wolfstar. Like ever. Ever. So, even though I have to suffer through this painful thing, I read it.

Why?

Because of the drama available there. Obviously. You get fluff. You get black brothers, you get strong women characters, you get different tropes and what's ifs, you get an ending where first war has better result as compared to canon.

But I hate it too because -

#1 James will never even look towards Regulus when he has the better black brother sirius right in front of him 24*7

#2 Sirius will never give a damm about remus when James is right in front of him for 24*7

#3 These fics forget that besides from the Wizarding war being about blood purity, it was also about dark wizards fighting for their rights. And Regulus black was a dark wizard. So okay maybe he does not want to be killing people for their status but if he also didn't want to be a dark wizard then you are making him sound like a very disfigured imitation of sirius but only more coward version who is a spineless, worthless follower.

I mean let the dude be a person who does not give a damm about whether other people are killed for their blood as long as he and his people are safe. Let him practice dark magic because he is a proud dark wizard unlike sirius who is a closeted dark wizard and has to hide his affinity to that part of magic just to fit with his friends.

#4 Every single Jegulus fic shows walburga and orion as physically and emotionally abusive parents. When I think it was never the case. I believe that with war on the horizon and with strong personalities, sirius and walburga clashed all the time because of their belief system. Walburga distanced herself when she felt that sirius was lost case and started focusing on Regulus who up until the point was not paid much attention.

Regulus was too happy to make his parents pay him attention, became even more malleable to their belief system in search of that affection while sirius thought that nothing he could do would be any better than Regulus so why try. He was jealous of his own brother. Like any normal child he resented his brother for getting his parents love. It was crystal clear in ootp if people dared to pay attention. {No but we were all busy paying attention to that brotherly hug in poa to have any brain cell remaining to pay attention to other books. Lol}

Why the reasons for sirius running away need to be exaggerated. Look around yourself. Have seen some parent child relationship in which there is no abuse involved, but still miscommunication, expectation, circumstances and belief were the reason of their estrangement.

#5 That point where you are reading form Regulus's pov and he has these abandonment issues because of sirius leaving him alone and not taking him away too and you feel for the guy because he is laying his heart out for his audience to see how much he suffered. He blames sirius and James. I feel that bullshit. First of all I think that Regulus was supper happy that he got to be having the sole attention of his parents. Again my version of his parents were not abusive people just two people who didnt know a thing about parenting. The guy was Slytherin, he liked winning. But he was also hurt by his parents still not being as concerned about him like they are of sirius, even when he is disowned. He hated his brother for having that concern in his parents' mind even now. He wanted to be better. He wanted to make them forget that sirius ever existed. He overcompensates by joining DE, he was not forced. He wanted to be make them pleasantly surprised when walburga never wanted that of her sons. She just wanted them to be bigots like her.

She absolutely despised the idea of her youngest bowing to someone. When Blacks are supposed to be the topmost. Practical royalty.

Regulus when he found out that his parents are in fact not happy with his decision, felt betrayed first and then lost. When he got the actual reality of death eating business, it was too late and he felt that he had no one in his corner. His only friends were all DE and quite happy in it. His parents were silently disappointed.

So when he found out about horcrux. He thought that he can make it upto his parents. But also he did not want to seek their help in his embarrassment. So he seeked to do it by himself and met his tragic end. Also I head canon that he could have fought to survive but his will to survive was lost because he felt adrift with no one to confide the complexities of his life, he felt alone. And he accepted death quite quickly with a relief because he was lonely in the world full of opinionated people.

So the bottom line is that I read Jegulus and then I hate myself for reading it. Because it is bullshit. But it has drama. And fanfics are their to entertain us even if it makes me pull my hair out and gauge own eyes.

5. What piece was your most experimental or different from your usual style? I think Knuckles Bruised Like Violets was my first no-magic modern AU? And inspired by a specific real life event, which isn't my usual thing

6. Did any fics surprise you - either while writing or their reception? I'm kinda shocked by how many hits I got on You All Over Me, and the ratio of hits to kudos is definitely out of sync with what I normally expect. I have my suspicions as to why - it's omegaverse but with a male omega and female alpha, so I think a pretty decently sized chunk of people didn't read the tags and noped out halfway through the fic when they realized Feyre was knotting Rhys and not vice versa. Or maybe that's pessimistic and it's hella re-reads, idk

7. Do you have a fic you wrote and loved that went under the radar? (This is your sign to reblog/repost it!) It was expected for a non-smutty rare pair drabble, but now i've read all of the books beside your bed didn't get a ton of traction

8. Who is an artist that inspired you? I was lucky to get a few peeks of things in process that friends shared, and I find that so inspiring. It's like a little peek behind the curtain as the magic happens! @stickyelectrons, @gracieart, @witchlingsandwyverns, @santkazoya all come to mind!

9. Who is an author that inspired you? Oh my goddddd so many people! @witch-and-her-witcher and @violetasteracademic for tackling ambitious, sprawling interconnected fics; you two are creating whole damn universes and I am in awe. I can see the influence of @thesistersarcheron and @the-lonelybarricade inspiring how I write things like Feysand's interpersonal dynamics (Rhys is insane and pspspsing his feral cat of a wife who may or may not know she's his wife) and daemati abilities (everything's happening in their brains, but ya gotta bring it to life with some physicality, if that makes sense?). And I quietly ask myself "what would @whatishowedyouinthedark and @belabellissima do?" when I'm staring at my document trying to make the whole thing a bit more sexy/bloody/generally insane <3

10. Who is a new author you discovered? So many new people who feel like they've been here forever!!!! @violetasteracademic, @lady-bluebird-luv, @tunaababee, @astra-aeterna, @trappedoutside124, @beesays and there's probably at least like ten more?

12. What accomplishments are you proudest of? I set out to challenge myself to write a bigger variety of pairings in 2024. In 2023, I'd only written Feysand and Gwynriel, but this year I tried my hand at Elriel, Elucien, Gywnlain and Feyrhysien for a few oneshots and event week fics. yay for setting a goal and doing it!

13. What did you learn about writing or creating this year? I've been writing fic on and off since I was a kid, but I've been writing for ACOTAR for almost two years now. 2024 was really the first time I've been a consistent enough writer in a fandom to become sort of a "known quantity" - people sometimes recognize my username, and I've written enough fics to identify patterns. Writing feels a bit different when you think your audience (even if it's just a handful of regular AO3 commenters lol) is coming in with a set of expectations. It's not pressure per se and doesn't stress me out, but once you've written enough, there's a new awareness of when you're deviating from your style or not.

Sierra Simone has some free worksheets from the course she teaches on writing erotic romance (you can find them here, highly recommend!), and the exercises for identifying voice ("What makes your work, your work?", "when a reader picks up a book written by me, they can expect _____.", etc) got me thinking a lot about this kind of thing. You can really only start to wrap your head around voice/style once you have a body of work to reflect on, and that takes time.

14. Any advice you’d like to share with new or aspiring writers? Don't be a weenie about asking for beta reads, and when you do have a beta, interrogate them a lil. We all get squirrelly and wanna just yeet the document at them and then go hide forever. But asking them to read for something specific - "Is xyz confusing?", "Do you think this feels like a cop-out or am I doing the right thing by keeping it simple?", "Were there any parts you were tempted to skim?", etc - can really help you grow. Sometimes comments on a document are enough, but sometimes it needs to be more of a conversation.

You are not being annoying by asking for a beta read. It's not a burdensome thing to put on someone. We ALL need a second set of eyes, and we're in this together!

15. What are your creative goals for 2025? I'm trying not to start new multichapter fics until I make good progress on my two "open" ones. So more oneshots for the vibes and then lock in and crank out chapters for we said hello and Baby, I'm the One to Beat!

I do think nowadaysss... or like for a few years since I became an oldr teenager and then an adult... the fun of being into Naruto comes Mostly from the fandom side of it. Like all the reinterpreting the characters, meta, AUs, etc, I think are prolific more here than most other fandoms (perhaps because in other fandoms it's just... less necessary lol). There was a lot of wasted potential in kishimoto's writing Unforchies... Particularly I am a fan of reading and writing about Sakura ^_^^_^^_^ but we knew that lol so why am I saying it?

Fun fact: Sakura is actually a lot more popular and beloved among the Japanese audience. I don't really know what that says about the Western audience & their expectations for the heroines 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

YAYYYY WE GET A MENTION OF MY LEAST FAVORITE TROPE WHICH IS Homophobic Sakura randomly getting in the way of their yaoi and being evil. Wait the fact that the first fanfic you mentioned was written/last updated in 2024 is wild wow.. I was reading it under the assumption it's some 2009-2014 FF.net relic RKWEKREJR (because I think that trope was more predominant then. I know you yourself are not dogging on this fic or condemning it so maybe I'm being mean but I do think the production of such a thing in Todays Age a bit ridiculous personally). Although it does provide a good example of uplifting being a gay man through belittling women, making them seem frivolous and incomplex in comparison, an efficient example of a still existing social trend

This is an irrelevant side note... as a Sakura scholar... I do think of her as a tomboy. Particularly in part 1 I find her presentation as one of a tomboy badly performing femininity because she thinks that's what will attract the object of her affection because He's a Boy.

I don't believe it fits Sakura or most of the Naruto women who are ninjas and career women and clan leaders to be stay at home mothers or even mothers at all in Boruto, but it was for sequel bait so idk how much we can condemn Kishimoto for that writing decision lolllll. Like obviously there is patriarchal bias here (having a family maybe to him and many shounen writers comes across as wrapping up the story as like a sense of "achievement" and "fulfillment" has been made without having to write an extensive epilogue esp. for the girls due to existing preconceptions that women only get life affirmation from becoming mothers, though I do not agree that is the case, and a lot of shounen post-canon families, not just those in Naruto, ironically come across as very unhappy due to such fumbling), but I think it was mostly an excuse to have a big chunk of the cast off-duty and have children so that Boruto could exist and the kids could do stuff. There is both misogyny and misogyny weaponized to create opportunity here Ig as a marketing ploy imo (also possibly to come across as more likeable to the audience bc they are mothers now, taking advantage of the existing mass subconscious bias).

Im sooo sorry but I DIDN'T EXPECT WEREWOLF ITACHI TO SHOW UP HERE 😭😭😭. Ok anyways let me not speak because that's not the point of what you're talking about anyway it just caught me off guard...

OK ANYWAY WE COME TO THE PART I GET MOST EXCITED TALKING ABOUT... MYSELF !! 😍

Since you start off by saying we the audience are meant to like Sakura I guess I'll talk a little bit about how I perceive her here (which I don't believe I have done before).

It's hard to say if she is completely likeable here or not. I think among many of the characters who make shitty decisions and say shitty things or show unfavorable personality traits, Sakura is more "agreeable" and easy to like than them. But I also think a lot of her actions are a bit ambiguous. I know you talk within the essay strictly about Sakura and not so much so the specifics of the Ino-Sakura friendship/almost-romance or the Reader-Ino-Sakura situation but I will talk about it here since that's the reason why I find Sakura slightly "questionable" (and the reason why that decision was made).

Sakura is presented in my fic as having more of a "traditional" upbringing, I don't believe super tradcath freak parents but more so what the average woman could possibly go thru - raised with certain patriarchal expectations. I think here she doesn't get in a lot of trouble and is generally perceived as others to be good, quiet, restrained as you called it, i.e. fitting the patriarchal ideal.

But because of this, I think some resentment (subconscious or to some extent she is aware of it) starts to build. She doesn't like these expectations and she doesn't like herself for seemingly fitting into them and she doesn't like others for viewing her that way. So she starts acting out slightly in a way others wouldn't expect of her like for example hanging out "with the boys" even after Ino stops going, smoking weed, whatever who cares... But the questionable part is particularly in the form of Y/n (who is at this point Ino's partner) and Ino herself.

Y/n very obviously I think has a wandering eye. They are not quite infidelious but they come across often like they want to cheat. I think Sakura is aware of this, particularly that she is in some way the apple of their eye at certain moments (unknown whether she is the only one), but indulges in it because it gives her a feeling of "being bad" and fulfills her desire to be "rebellious".

Ino is her best friend who Sakura is defensive and protective of and thinks no one deserves her (I think there are some homoerotic feelings at play pretty obviously here but she was raised in such a heteronormative way she doesn't register things like that, which is made obvious when Y/n says they think Naruto and Sasuke are gay and Sakura is like huh really? - not judgemental of it but just like genuinely surprised), yet at the same time she is getting some amount of gratification from Y/n's attention on her and there are many times where she doesn't seem interested in telling Ino that or telling Y/n off (almost as if she doesn't want to lose their attention not because she likes them as a person but because of what their attention fulfills for her in this phase of her life - the feeling of "acting out" and "being bad"). Anyway I consider this decision of hers to do this some shade of gray but I do not believe it's a crime and I think the fic itself focusing on her POV still leaves her as portrayed positively i.e. just as a person who sometimes makes sympathetic decisions and other times doesn't and who has many problems in her life that lead to those things.

Also I tried to be gender ambiguous about the Reader here as usual in most of my works but since the story largely deals with gender and sexuality I would describe their character as functioning as "socially male" whether that be just a regular cis boy, some closeted genderfuck spectrum case, or a butch lesbian who was rejected from the typical girl groups in childhood and therefore tries to fit in more with "the boys", or any other possibility - which is why their attention serves Sakura who otherwise is oblivious of LGBT things to an extent. Like for example Naruto and Sasuke both come across as pretty typical boys so she does not consider they might be gay (again coming from the way she was raised where someone is only obviously gay if they are GNC - "if you got a pixie cut the neighbors will think ur a lesbiannnn and that's badddd it's badddd if they think ur a lesbiannnn").

I also tried to do a bit of a role reversal flip here where instead of Sakura solely exists as a one note character who is defined by her love for Sasuke (common in both Naruto and fanfiction), it is Sasuke who comes across as quite one dimensional and is defined by his relationship with Sakura instead. There are several hints that his character and story here are more complicated but it is simply not of interest. It's a bit of a fringe choice and makes his character portrayal look admittedly weak and OOC/inaccurate but I quite enjoyed presenting it that way you know as a little laugh to myself.

Yayayayaya lovely work thank you so much! I was glad to read it and enjoyed it a lot, though the topic of misogyny/gender roles does often make me quite angry (particularly why this one shot was written with a lot of vitriol in like two writing sessions, I think I was mad at the time about all this, like straight up just woke up angry about it) I think it's important to engage with it and I thik u did a good job ^_^. Changbin had been on tour for 2 months now. It was so difficult for both of you to deal with. What he didn’t know though, was that you had a surprise visit planned. All the guys were in on it.

They had been texting you non stop about how changbin had been pouting constantly, scrolling through pictures of you and complaining about how lonely he was. It felt like there was a thunder cloud hovering over him and anytime he smiled it was for a show or because you called.

You were packing your stuff as you got a call from him. You panicked for unknown reasons because unless you pointed your camera, specificaly at your suitcase, your room looked exactly the same.

You picked up the video call, ‘HEYYYY! YOU TOOK A WHOLE 5 RINGS TO PICK UP!! WHY?! HAVE I BEEN GONE TOO LONG? DO YOU NOT LOVE ME ANYMORE!?’ He threw out his wild theories and you couldn’t help but laugh.

‘It’s only been 2 months. Don’t worry, I still have faint memories of us together. Although… I think they’re fading…who are you?’ You said seriously and he gasped.

‘I KNEW IT! I’m gonna die alone oh my god…’

‘I’m the one losing memories, god, way to make your tour all about you.” You laughed.

He squinted at you, ‘you’re mean.’

‘I’m also one of your favourite people in the world. Did you call just to list off traits of mine?’

‘No. I miss you and your ungrateful ass,’ he pouted as he flopped back on his bed.

‘Don’t talk bad about my ass. It’s right there,’ you were walking out of your room when you tripped over your bag.

Good one, smart stuff.

It peaked his interest, ‘you good? What did you trip over?’

‘Oh no, I’m ok, I’m just unable to walk,’ you said in a hurry.

He got worried, ‘did you hurt yourself?’

‘NO! I just mean… I haven’t been doing much so I… forgot…’

Yeah, you’re so good at this. He’ll totally believe that. 🙄

‘You… forgot…how to walk..??’

‘Yeah, your face is so distracting and everything over the top of everything… My brain just couldn’t fathom anything else.’

This seemed to distract him and you guys talked about what had been going on recently. You managed to not fall face first somewhere after that and everything went well.

Your flight was 3 days later and you were so excited. You had told the guys to make sure changbin was distracted so he didn’t text or call you. The poor baby would think you were ignoring him.

When you landed, you rested up at the hotel you would be at temporary before their next concert. Your plan was to appear in the audience and he would look so surprised to see you. Then you would duck and make him think he imagined it.

It was mean but you would appear backstage so… no harm no foul.

Everything was going to plan and now you had seungmin walking you to a safe place to get some food before you went to the floor.

You met them all except changbin and it was so refreshing. You were just aching to hug changbin again. Although your wish came true when he walked past the room. He looked in, saw you and carried on walking because obviously he wasn’t expecting you to be there.

Jisung pushed you behind the sofa and sat in your place.

Changbin came charging back in, ‘Y/N???’

‘All these years together and I thought you knew my name,’ jisung fake cried. ‘After everything we’ve been through.’

Jeongin laughed, ‘he’s hallucinating again. God, you really can’t be away from them, can you?’

‘Codependency be like,’ hyunjin tacked on with a giggle.

Changbin sighed and side eyed the members as he left the room. ‘I’m not codependent… I just love them a lot. All your single, lonely asses can’t talk,’ he mumbled with a pout.

When he was definitely gone, Chan let you know the coast was clear. You stepped out with laughs, ‘shots fired! Damn.’

Hyunjin scowled at you, ‘Y/N shut up or so help me, I’ll call him back.’

You immediately stopped smiling and sobered up. You were about to say something but then you pretended to zip your mouth shut and gave him an overly big smile.

You spent a little more time eating then moved to go to the floor. With their help obviously, you didn’t want to accidentally run into changbin.

You were having fun, all the songs on this album were SO good. You made eye contact with changbin then he looked away but he looked back, frantically scanning the audience. You had ducked and he couldn’t find you again, he blinked a bunch, took a breath and moved away from that area.

You did this 2 more times and every time, he looked more and more confused. When the concert ended, you made your way to the security guard who would help you get backstage. It took you a little while to sift through the crowd but eventually, you made it.

As you got closer to their changing rooms, you could hear changbin talking.

‘I have no idea what’s wrong with me. I thought it was a wierd moment before but now… I actually keep seeing them everywhere. Like I could’ve sworn they were in the audience,’ you could hear him sniffling, ‘I wish I could go home… atleast for a bit.’

You knocked on the door and he opened the door. His jaw dropped as he stood there, staring at you.

‘Mail for a… ‘Changbin’? We have a package for a ‘Seo Changbin’,’ you said casually.

He turned and looked at everyone else, ‘you’re seeing this too right? They’re here? I’m not about to hug a mail man to death?’

Everyone laughed and yelled surprise. He turned around so fast and within a second, you were in a soul crushing hug.

‘I missed you too baby but I do need my ribs after this so…’ you wheezed as you lightly hugged him back. He loosened the hug with a quiet sorry.

After you had all calmed down, everyone laughed at how absolutely confused changbin looked on stage. He also apologised for calling them all lonely asses when jeongin reminded him.

It was a good day. You spent the next 2 weeks with them and loved every moment of it.

A/N: I hope this makes up for me making some of you cry in the first fic LMAO I wanted to add so much angst to this but I’ll let this be. You can all be distraught on the next one 😈 I’m really showcasing my dry sense of humour in this one 💀

🌻 How often do you read your own fics?

...an unhealthy amount 😆. Reading fic is my #1 go-to when I'm trying to fill time (#2 is gaming...but I try to be good at that, and also, it's my job, so...less stress-relieving), so I've read a lot of fic, including my own. As it turns out, I like my own sense of humor. Go figure. HOWEVER...re-reading my own smut scenes is a little weird. Always depends on how much I can remove myself from the writing process of them (I literally write smut scenes with my eyes closed). If I can get enough distance from that, I always find myself going, "Yo...this shit slaps." Probably because unlike most writers...I hate reading. Blame my ADHD. I can only read fanfiction (all of it...give it to me), books that hit just right (I can think of 3 series), books that I read out of spite (looking at you, Harry Potter), or books that my family has read, because they'll talk to me about it (and I can cover for the parts where I completely zoned out).

😎 What fics do you prefer on a scale of canon compliant to wildly original?

Oh, all of it. Give me the, "This is canon, except for Cady wore polka dots instead of plaid on her first day of school." Give me the, "Fuck canon, everyone is an alien fighting for their existence." I have been in many a fandom, and any amount of canon has made me cry (and I am not an easy crier) and laugh and just enjoy. Like...as long as I can feel the person who wrote it cares about their concept/characters/plot/one of the above/all of the above/none of the above but something else/etc. I do not care how canon it is.

🥳 Why did you start writing fanfic?

Okay...short version, because I can get rambling (there is a several-hours-long version of these events😆) . I used to write Spider-man stories and put myself in them when I was...maybe 6-7 years old? I am...OBSESSED with Spider-man, and we'll leave it at that for now lol. Cut to 15-16, and YouTube was a thing, and I was obsessed with Buffy, and people would make "Buffy AU videos (I could search Buffy AU, and there were 54 results. I distinctly remember than number), and one of the videos was a fan video for a fanfic site that someone set up called Buffy: The Chosen (I think? It's been a LONG time), and things spiraled from there. My first published fics were...very bad Hannah Montana fics, because it had a large enough audience at the time that I knew people would read it. Took a few more years for me to write stuff for fandoms that I actually cared about. And now, I'm here 😁

Soooooo. Cybertronian sexuality. So I'm of the opinion that since they reproduce asexually, they dont have any genitals and sex isn't really A Thing, their bodies aren't built for that sort of fun n intimacy at least in the human take on things. How ever. ! Where theres a will theres a way and Cybertronias' main thing is to be always changing right. Im a rabid horndog but also the idea of two sexless creatures trying to fuck with whatever they have is sooo... Meow :3

To me overloads are well. As you may have read n picked up from my fic. A game where you try to overheat your system so much it fries your circuits and you get a bit stupid until your body forcefully shuts down to save itself from further damage. It's 1- stupid 2- unpleasant to most (some are into it because it sucks. masochism wins) 3- probably not good to do too much too often 4- super fucking fun with a buddy.

I'm exploring plug n play but im soooo. They would not have a sex cable. I think they just open up eachother n see what they can do cause I think its funnier and it points back to my trying to make do with an activity thats not really built into them... I had read a post on here about sticky interfacing appearing after pnp from mingling with specias with sex organs and I think its a rockin hc but yea idk where im going w this.

I might explore more gentle alternatives but my stupid problem is I have toxic yaoi shitbrain disease and if the two guys dont want to kill eachother when they fuck. YAWNNN. But I try to get better. How many words (of fanfic) have you written this year? 234,231 words. all murderbot. shut up. This was my second biggest year. I'd like to thank the time on my hands, posting a longfic I had in the works for a while, and participating in a Big Bang. (2021 was my biggest. I'll thank back pain and unemployment for that one lol.)

How many works did you publish this year? 42 fanfics.

What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)? Networks VOID + Networks VITAL. Took me over two years to write and I finally finished it and punted it into the universe this year. fucking monster roller-coaster of a fic capping off a monster roller-coaster of a series. probably the most technically challenging thing I've written to date, by merit of all the balls in motion and all the emotional beats crammed in over the course of 99k words, with the majority of the action taking place during ~48 in-universe hours. i'm so proud of it. it deserves all the love it's gotten LoL thanks everybody!!

What work of yours has the most hits? Via Solitude is a perennial crowd pleaser. Wide audience appeal. Slow and long-running multi-chapter slice of life. ("Slice of life" whilst stranded and surviving alien wilderness.)

What work of yours got more feedback than you expected? idk I'm honestly pleasantly surprised every time people comment at all. but I guess SecUnit Feet got hella reactions, for a borderline gag fic for April fools.

Pairing you wrote the most for this year? I don't really write much as far as pairings go. The REAL talk is that I posted another entry for my niche obsession: re-writing the Exit Strategy Dock Showdown from the point of view of "Hostile One" the Combat SecUnit. Surrender/Please is my fourth one in this microgenre, and does it just as fresh and fun and different from the preceding three. ^_^

Favorite pairing you wrote for this year? Well I did write one ship fic: Stranger (manic pixie dream killing machine). In which 2 characters that never interact in canon suck face. It's pretty good makeouts if you're into that. Honestly I do love this fic I did a good job on it. Took me a long time to iron it out. Alternatively, if you stretch the definition of "pairing" to mean "self-destructive murdercule" there's the squad from Networks VOID/VITAL being patently insane. Together. Heart Emoji.

What work was the quickest to write? Funny you should ask. I gave myself 30-minute limits to write the daily Febuwhump prompts and timed myself. equivalent exchange took me 11.25 minutes, and it's not bad considering the time crunch. Mensah POV of killing that SecUnit in All Systems Red :)

What work took you the longest to write? Aforementioned Networks VOID/VITAL. I cannot overstate how insane I was making myself writing this thang for 2 years before posting it to the internets.

How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year? I think I made a list of some ideas I've had knocking around, but they've been backburnered a bit since I've been noodling other writing stuff lately. (I say, while succumbing to banging out random fics for a prompt event during December -_-)

Surprising little nuggets of realization such as: Murderbot only refers to bot pilots generically or with nicknames, and the only named ships are A) Holism the supership and B) Lalow, which has no bot pilot. Also participated in a big bang with every_eye_evermore to create Plastic Plague. I did the writing, every_eye_evermore did the awesome illustrations and helped me work out the kinks. If Networks VITAL hadn't stolen the show in terms of the man-hours and heart I put in, I think I'd have named Plastic Plague as my pride and joy. Kind of surprised myself with how fast I wrote it given its length. But also it's one of those fics that's like 2 degrees removed from being a whole ass original novella. lol. What do you listen to while writing? Bathroom fan white noise. Neighbors noise. Sometimes noise muffling headphones. I usually can't listen To Stuff and write at the same time, there's barely enough space in my head to have 1 full thought per second. It's like 0.6-0.8 tps in here.

Here’s one from Surrender/Please: “I’m chasing you, my mental crosshairs locked on you, which is how it’s supposed to be, but something is so wrong, so wrong, so wrong with you, so wrong with me. The ghost of your presence in my feed digs its ethereal fingers into the back of my neck, where my data-port is, and just above that, wedged within the shriveled heart of a stripped-down medulla, is my governor module.” Here’s one from false pulse, ComfortUnit POV: “I want to cut the mimic heart out of my torso, that lying little device in the center of my chest put there for the sole purpose of broadcasting a false pulse to a sentimental human audience, that races loudly now, unbidden.” From Suns Out Guns Out: ““SecUnit. Where are your arms?” SecUnit shrugged its armless shoulders. The gesture made its empty sleeves flop a bit. “Planetary customs has them. I’ll pick them back up when I go up the elevator.”” From illucid: “The systems swerve uncertainty, the missile misses its mark, the mote floats free.” Also I think spousal privilege does a great job burying the lede. But I won’t paste the whole thing here.

Biggest surprise while writing this year? How did I write so many bangers? uwu. (Actually I spent a month or two having forgotten how to write good because I went outside and touched too much grass. (Read: went backpacking for a while and didn’t have access to writing.) It was a little agonizing. Then Surrender/Please knocked the cork loose and I was able to write again everyone say thank you Surrender/Please.) At this point writing is kind of a near-daily compulsion for me.

Oh wow, thank you for tagging me, @trollocks-in-my-bollocks and @thatordinaryoddity! Especially considering it’s been somewhat quiet on my writing front lately 

1. How many works do you have on AO3? Four, but one of them is a collection of drabbles and poems, so if you count those separately, seven. There are also some that are only on tumblr, mostly because they are in some way only fandom-adjacent

2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 4677, which I realize is less than most people use for one story. But drabbles are short? I'm not very wordy? I have a posting problem?

3. What fandoms do you write for? Most of the stories are for Wheel of Time, the latest is for For all Mankind. And there are some unpublished ones for Last of Us and Slow Horses

4. What are your top five fics by kudos? I mean I don’t have five fics on AO3, lol. But the story of Moiraine’s fever dream in episode 1x03, Poison / Trolloc has the most kudos there. And a poem I wrote a few months ago about Laika which is only on tumblr (and vaguely inspired by For all Mankind) has more reactions than that, which is kind of amazing

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Of course! If someone goes through the trouble of leaving a comment, of course I’ll respond. Getting comments is the best thing ever!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Maybe between the lines of want and need, though I think it's more just generally melancholy than angsty

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? The For all Mankind story of how Molly made her decision on surgery isn't maybe a happy ending per se, but in my mind it counts

8. Do you get hate on fic? No, I don’t think my stories have reached an audience that would feel compelled to not just leave when they don’t like it

9. Do you write smut? I haven't, as none of the stories I've posted has really lent itself to smut. But if I wrote a story where it would make sense, why not

10. Do you write crossovers? No. Not that I theoretically couldn’t I guess, but I would have to have a deep knowledge of two shows / worlds that would somehow in my mind fit together, and that has not happened

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? No, not that I know of. I’m not sure what anyone would steal

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but I've sometimes played with translating parts of my poems or drabbles to one language or another to get unstuck while writing

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Not exactly, but I collaborated with @thatordinaryoddity where she made art and I wrote a drabble, and that was a lot of fun!

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? I mostly fall in love with a character and then that character might or might not have a relationship of some sort, but that's sort of secondary, so I'm not sure. Based on all the wonderful friends and connections I've made because of a ship, I guess it would have to be Moiraine/Siuan

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t? Hah! Any that I have? Most are actually fairly ready, but I haven’t been able to polish them to the level where I would want to post. It seems unlikely that I would suddenly feel otherwise about them or find the thing that is missing, but who knows

16. What are your writing strengths? I love words and playing with them, and finding the perfect one for that particular situation. So when I find the space to just let them do their thing, I think I can create an atmosphere fairly well. And I love writing and want to do it well, which might count for something

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Oh dear. I should probably start this with Hello, I'm woody and I have anxiety about writing.

So I could nitpick endlessly and not very fruitfully, but I think the legitimate weaknesses would be that I struggle to keep the style consistent across a longer work. And as soon as I try to write with an audience in mind, I panic and lose the thread. I worry that I'm not able to bring the characters across to the reader in a way that would ring true 

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I’ve never done it, it feels clunky to be honest. I think I prefer the dialogue to be in the story’s main language with a mention that the character is speaking in another language, rather than having the characters actually speak the other language

19. First fandom you wrote for? First fandom in this iteration of fandom life was Wheel of Time 

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? I mean, I really don't know, I wrote all of them. At that time they must have been the best possible story for that moment. But if I have to choose, I'd say I like the poems, they're the ones I go back to read

Still writing for The Flash, but every once in a while a new show/movie grabs my fancy and I write a few fics for that.

An unimpressive bunch but here goes: Muse (456), Replacement Scrunchie (393), Fallen Star (357), Inconvenient Inspiration (343), and Drabbles (277). Muse is a handful of one-shots based solely off spoilers before I saw the eps they were for. Replacement Scrunchie is my sole fic for the TATBILB fandom about Peter & LJ's first date (which was way less impressive than what the sequel movie gave us, WOW). Fallen Star is my most popular westallen fic to date, so that one's actually not too surprising. Oh, gosh, I have so many unfinished fics that it's hard to remember the complete ones that I finished that didn't end so happy, of which there aren't many. Maybe...Breaking Point though.

When I wrote for another fandom I did, but not really in The Flash fandom, which is nice.

Yep. And uh...descriptive, I guess? I'm def not the best out there, but I do my best and for the most part smut-lovers seem to enjoy.

I've attempted a couple crossovers, but I haven't completed any or gotten far with them, usually because there wasn't an audience for it.

Stuck on Westallen atm, but I used to write Chair, and I was highly obsessed with them as well.

Oh god, I have SO MANY WIPs. One that I really want to finish but fear I won't though has got to be He's MY Barry Allen. I'm just stuck on what the next chapter will look like, and as of yet no one has come forward with a solution. Lol. The Problem is Tony Woodward is another one like that.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'd like to think I can hook people into my fics fairly well and drop enough cliffies to keep them coming back for more. But ofc the smut helps too. Most of my fics include at least some smut, even a single scene.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Sometimes I have trouble making a chapter (or a scene for that matter) all that long. I've seen people write like 10k+ for a chap, and unless I'm crazy inspired, roughly 1-3k is what you're getting.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I actually dabbled in this a little bit for a westallen fic where Iris was learning Italian, I think? I did some research and managed to sift in enough for that one-shot, but I can't imagine I'd do it repeatedly or for a multi-chap.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I believe it was the STAR WARS prequels, but it might've been The Day After Tomorrow.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

It's unfinished, but there's so much untapped potential in my Flashpoint fic. Lots of world-building that's present as it rides the line between canon divergent and AU. Hopefully one day I'll get back to it.

I don't think I'm capable of writing anything but a happy ending tbh, haha. I just can't do it to myself. Part of the fun of writing fic for me is getting the satisfaction of seeing resolutions that didn't get done in canon. Although I guess the ending for one of my unfinished ones is semi-angsty? But I shan't spoil it!

Probably Three's Company (and a Home). Love me some cot3 realizing they are all crazy about each other.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Fortunately no, but I think that's more due to the fact that so far most of my posted fics are for rarepairs, so there's less eyes on them in general. In fact I'm usually surprised when I get comments or kudos from people I don't directly interact with in the fandom, lol. I'm used to the audience for my fics being pretty small.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes! I...I don't know what kind? N...normal??? Well I guess technically all the smut I've posted so far is poly? I'm new enough to it that I'm not super familiar with like, categories so, uh...that's about all I can say to describe it ...but if you told me like five years ago I'd be not only writing, but sharing smut online I'd be so scandalized, haha.

10. Do you write crossovers?

Not yet. I'm not super into crossovers as a trope, it has to be like, really well written or a really compelling idea for me to be into it. There's a handful of crossover ideas I've had for a couple fandoms but nothing that has compelled me enough to sit down and write. Maybe more likely to do some silly comics at some point.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of, but the idea that anyone would find any reason to steal my fics is hilarious to me. Like...why.

No. Again, my audience is pretttttttty small. Which is fine by me, I'm not posting for popularity or numbers, it's just fun to have my friends like my work. :)

Not yet. I think I'd be more open to doing illustrations for a work, honestly, than co-writing. I'm...bad at sharing creative control. -_-;

Oh god. Don't get mad but I honestly keep forgetting I even wrote the first chapter of Everyone Make Bad Decisions. I started writing it as a silly self-indulgent one-shot and then it bloomed into a terribly complex soap opera level drama in my head that's just honestly really intimidating for me to think about writing all the way out. I have mad respect for people who can stick out writing a fic that's more than like, 5 chapters.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I like to think I'm good with metaphors and descriptions. I really like writing poetry and I think some of that comes out in my prose too.

Hmmmm, personally it'd have to be really relevant to the plot for me to include it, otherwise it seems like it makes it harder for the reader?

Hmmmm, probably Inside, This Place is Warm. I haven't finished posting because the last two chapters need some massaging before I'll be satisfied with them but it's all written. It's the most ambitious fic I've written so far and also something I never would've predicted myself writing, which makes it really fun.

I'm so sorry you feel like ATLA isn't doing well, because it's honestly one of the best things I've read in a very long time. Each detail is so well thought out, every interconnection considered to the point where it feels effortless. It's truly phenomenal, and I wish more people were engaging with it.

But, if I can be selfish for a hot minute (why I'm on anonymous right now): reading your concerns was really validating for me as a writer. There's definitely more of an audience for quick 1-2 chapter reads, the "in and out" reading style. And, as someone who likes writing longer, more intensive things, there is certainly a massive difference in comments, kudos, etc. between my oneshots and my monster AUs. So, I'm a little glad that you -- someone who I respect as a writer and adore as a presence in fandom, online, etc. -- also has the same worries about the things they create. Who worries about the payoff of a story in conjunction with how much time you sunk into writing it.

All this to say: I'm sorry you're feeling down about it, and I wish you weren't, but know you're not alone in your feelings. And, hopefully, people will turn a corner on it and see what a fantastic work it is.

Truly, truly, fantastic work. And they're all bloody well missing out 💜

Jumped on this one so quick because I really appreciate your perspective here! I kinda do understand the time poor nature of reading one shots because they're less intimidating maybe? But at the same time, long fic is what I prefer writing, so it's a little bit of a double edged sword hehe.

You can be selfish whenever you want! I love engaging with other writers! I think it's important to share our perspectives because I think the perception sometimes is that, as a creator, you should put up and be grateful for any kind of interaction. But if you pour months of your time and energy into something and it doesn't meet your expectations, I think it's kinda normal to be disappointed? Like not in other people per se, but in yourself. I'm not sure if that's how you feel, but it's how I feel! I think maybe as a perfectionist I have big expectations for myself, and when I don't meet them, I kinda beat myself up and think what was the point? I enjoy writing for me, but I also enjoy the interactive part of writing so much...and I'm not sure if there's anything wrong with that (it's also why I've been procrastinating starting my original work for so long LOL).

I love your use of "monster AU" by the way. I adore that. And thank you for chiming in, I definitely do feel less alone from this and I hope you do too <3
