Please admire all 4700000 yards of hand sewn trim and six dozen hand done buttonholes thank you✨ I had a lovely first time at NYCC, and shout-out to that one guy who recognized me as Sharpe and the other guy who recognized Napoleonic rifleman! And thanks to Thor and @queensabriel for these photos 💖
(I'm wearing it again to the Texas Renaissance Festival on Black Friday, look for me there 😌)

I am thinking of using these sun and moon Granny squares but use this fingering weight yarn I already have instead of buying worsted weight yarn to make a celestial themed Granny square Cardigan.
Tumblr media
I dyed the blue yarn myself using Jacquard acid dyes colorway sapphire blue and I have approximately 1,470 yards of it but I don't think that's enough for a crochet Cardigan that's big enough to fit me. Crochet takes more yarn than knitting and I'm not even sure I could knit a Cardigan big enough for me out of it either. Unfooooortunately, this was one of my first dye experiments and I'm not 100% sure I took notes. I will have to check.
The yellow all I have is this half a skein of what I think is Madelinetosh Merino light in colorway Candlewick. Idk i've had it for literally a decade. But I think it'll be enough because I don't plan on having moons or suns on every square. I'm planning on alternating between four small squares sewn together where two are plain blue and two are patterned, and one big Granny square. I would draw what I mean but I am too tired to do that right now.
It took all of my self control to not buy the pattern today. It's only $5.25 CAD which is like $3.97USD/€3.65. But my gf got fired so I'm trying to keep frivolous spending to a minimum. I considered asking if a fiber arts mutual would buy it for me but honestly what they all SHOULD be doing is spraying me like a naughty cat whenever I talk about starting a new project before winter holiday gifts are done.

I finished all Frankies, and now kinda freak out that I won't be able to finish the project before The Black Parade anniversary.

So I put these pictures up on my main blog and it - to my surprise - got a massive amount of attention.
Well, massive in my opinion.
So I decided to start putting stuff on a different blog, and the first step is put the images on this one.
So here are the nearly-complete wings, before I was able to sew it all together.
Tumblr media
It is about 6 1/2 feet - and because I'm American, I need to add a silly way to measure that. So it is about the same wingspan of your average bald eagle.
For my metric friends, that's almost 2 meters or 198 cm.
I worked on it for three months. That might sound pretty fast, but I've been out of work since last May (a year tomorrow) after developing a (hopefully) temporary digestive disorder that eventually required a feeding tube to avoid the whole 'starving to death' thing.
So I've had nothing but time.
Here are some pictures of the final result.
Tumblr media
I think I'm going to add some shoulder straps to keep it up a little easier and to better distribute the weight. It's about 3lbs (about 1 kilo and some change). That doesn't sound heavy, but carrying it around all day on top of being medically fragile got really hard, so I think that will help.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's a close-up of the gloves I added. I also used a plastic clothes hanger to add a handle so that I can actually have the wings completely spread (I'm tiny, so my arms have no chance otherwise)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I might outline the interior of the shawl but I haven't decided yet.
I'm really glad you guys liked it.
I didn't make the pattern, but if you would like to purchase it from the one who did, here's the link!

So @thekenobee found this fantastic BTS photo, and I was terribly jealous of Jason Salkey's Chosen Men windbreaker. However, I lived through the 90s and I'm over it, so I went with a little different vibe. Is this also merch for @chiropteracupola 's ultimate Frisbee au? Who can say. Bonus Goblin footage:

I encourage anyone to grab a shirt from your local thrift store and do this! I used white acrylic paint that I already had in the house and sketched out the design in chalk first, and then heat-set the paint into the fabric by ironing over it WITH ANOTHER PIECE OF FABRIC OVER IT please don't melt paint onto your iron. (You can also use a plain piece of printer paper for this. Just make sure you don't have the steam function on, and apply heat for at least ten to fifteen seconds.)

Nothing more embarrassing as a knitter than taking off your socks to try on one you're making and having to do that awkward shuffling of the double pointed needles over your heel. Literally why
