1. How old is Rook? (Chose this question as I’ve never stated her age before)

She is 26 years old

5. What was life like for Rook before joining the Veilguard?

Her life before basically just consisted of going after Venatori in Minrathous. She’s originally from the free marches but since she joined the shadow dragons she spends most of her time in minrathous.

Before becoming a shadow dragon she lived with clan lavellan.

9. What is Rook like on the battlefield?

This is where Fia and her auntie are alike, she is like actually insane on the battlefield. For someone so little she is insanely strong lmao she’s a tank especially for a mage

15. What’s the first thing people notice when Rook enters a room?

Maybe her scar? I guess it depends on how she is wearing her hair, sometimes it’s more easy to see and other times it’s not, like when she has her hair down

22. Most embarrassing memory as a teenager?

Fia was a very awkward teen so there are many embarrassing memories, not gonna lie I’m having trouble narrowing it down to just one ahaha

Well. Nearly done with the game and I decided Reine should really be an Antivan Crow rather than a Shadow Dragon. It just-- fits better.

Anyhoo, replay will be for that. For now, I am FINISHING because I am NOT starting over again. Not when I'm probably about 3/4 done with the game.

They just fit the idea of a urchin on the streets of Minrathous, who managed to pickpocket a Crow visiting the city on a job. Their clever adaption of their magic into deft, cunning skills more common to a rogue or assassin making them possibly a good investment. And Reine? Happy to trade the cold and damp of the capital for the warm streets of Treviso. Even if the danger remains.

My Shadow Dragon playthrough is a "what if" they didn't leave and became a freedom fighter etc.

For context, Fia has a very eerie yet extremely expensive looking and beautiful necklace that her father bought for her at a street market. But let’s just say, it was originally there at the street market

“Not think. Know,” his eyes flickered to meet Fia’s with a lopsided grin that was filled with amusement, “I know it would also be in a nice comfy chest locked away in nice comfy vault of one of the most supposed nefarious and beautiful noble Houses of Ostwick.”

Fia’s eyes grew with interest and wonder, it was like she was being told a story, a really vague one at that. But how could she complain when this man was pleasing to the eyes. “And what House would that be?” She leaned in a bit wanting to know more.

Fia was created for the Solas romance line and I took a petty sort of pleasure in creating her as a feminine nonbinary individual, particularly when paired with Solas of the very specific tastes.

12. Does Rook have any family? Do they keep in touch?

Yes she does! Fia is actually my inquisitors niece! Fia’s mother is my inquisitors older sister.

She gets along with most of her family (not including her mother), especially her aunties, Maeve and Arianne. Her auntie Arianne never lived with the clan but Ari would come visit and write letters to the family. Fia never really knew her father as he passed when she was just a baby

During Veilguard:

She loves that she now gets to see Maeve (my inky) and discuss how things are going. Fia will also always ask how her cousins and Uncle Cullen are going.

This chat then turns into Maeve asking a million questions about how fia is handling all this and if she needs help with anything. Fia keeps having to ask her to stop worrying about her so much.

Maeve agrees of course but will secretly ask Harding to keep her updated on fia in their weekly letters lol

46. What does it take to earn Rook’s trust?

Showing care for her family and friends will help you earn her trust but id say fias always a little suspicious of people regardless of who they are lol like she doesn’t really trust anyone when she first meets them even if she’s told she can trust them, she has seen her fair share of betrayal so she’s just cautious

1.     An overheard conversation about your OC

Leliana: I think Lavellan is growing to like her new hair, She was so upset when we cut it, I thought she’d want to grow it back as soon as possible.

Cassandra: I don’t understand why she got so upset in the first place. It’s just hair.

Leliana: It’s not just hair, it’s part of who she was, the last remnant of her life before all of this. I cut off my hair before leaving Orleis for the first time, it was liberating. Like leaving a part of me behind, the part of me I didn’t want to keep. She cut hers because half of it was destroyed in battle. A battle with a demon that fell out of a hole in the sky that we falsely accused her of opening, and now expect her to close. I pity her, she has no choice in this matter, no agency. Not even in how she wears her hair.

Cassandra: I cut my hair because it kept getting caught in my armour. Damned annoying.

I fear for our clan’s first. Fia is a talented mage, that must be said, however she shows no interest in learning the other duties required by a future keeper. Even at 14 years of age her elven language skills are nothing short of abysmal, and she keeps confusing the stories of Falon’Din and Dirthamen. She would rather spend time with the halla or pestering the hunters, asking  them to buy her trinkets on the occasion they bring game to shemlen settlements to trade for supplies.

Her latest obsession is human knights. I believe this stems from an encounter with a group of them we met while travelling a few weeks ago.  There was no altercation, however Fia’s curiosity was piqued and she begged the hunters to bring her back a sword, a helmet, anything. One of them returned with an old blade. It is dull, old, clearly rubbish, yet she carries it everywhere, swinging it at shrubs. She would make a fine arcane warrior, but I fear she will never be capable to take on the role of a Keeper.

Truly, I love my daughter. But her head remains permanently in the clouds. I pray that she returns to reality, lest she day-dream her life away.

Commander Cullen,

The inquisitor has taken to Knight-Enchanter training remarkably well. I knew from reports sent to me that she was a formidable mage, however this training is daunting, and many of the most talented mages across the known world have been unable to master this specialization. Lavellan quickly adapted to the arcane requirements of her training, however the physical art of swordplay still challenges her.

But what Lavellan lacks in discipline and finesse, she makes up for in bravery and grit. Yesterday, I had Ser Barris assist her by practicing sparring in the courtyard. Lavallan has no formal training in melee combat, and of course, Barris blocked all of her swings. In a fit of frustration, the inquisitor threw down her dummy sword, and tackled Barris to the ground.

Grand Enchanter Vivienne and I watched this unfold from the balcony. She believes training the Inquisitor in this school is hopeless, that she lacks the aforementioned discipline and control. But I am inclined to disagree. There are many ways to be a warrior; Chevaliers are not the same as Templars, and Templars are not the same as Reavers. I firmly believe Lavellan will excel as a Knight-Enchanter once she has training in a style that plays to her strengths. I will speak to some of her Inner Circle, they know her favoured combat style better then I, and may be willing to help.

Dear Cullen Commander Cullen,

The soldiers arrived today, they will be a great help holding Griffin Wing Keep. With reinforcements now holding the fort, myself and the original expedition are returning to Skyhold. Thank the Maker Gods for that, it has been a long month, and I’m looking forward to having a good hot bath and a meal that isn’t salted meat and hardtack.

Dorian told me about the betting pool, by the way; ‘the pot goes to the Inquisition member who loses in the most creative manner to the Inquisitor’. I’m not THAT bad at chess, and I don’t need my friends allies throwing games to make me feel better about it! (The pot should go to Bull, by the way, he ate his own queen while I wasn’t looking.)

Solas taught me some new strategies that I’m eager to try. I’m looking forward to a rematch when I return, if you’re willing.

So, after reading some of my previous chapters and trying to write the newest one, I got stuck on the flow because of how I written it before was so janky for me that I couldn’t figure out how to move some scenes forward. So I’m redoing my entire fic, In Glory We Rise, but just the chapters and how the story moves forward. I’m still unsure if I will actually redo the entire thing but it may happen. It just felt very off to me and I didn’t like it too much. Mistake learned I suppose lol. Well, sorry for the long announcement, here is the “six” sentences of the redone version of chapter 1. For context, it’s a POV if a Ferelden noble woman on vacation with her father in Ostwick. I wonder who she’ll meet there 👀

“Good, atleast now I know my lectures did not fall on deaf ears.” Her father lightly chuckled as did Fia. “And last time I checked we are no longer in Highever.” He smiled as gestured around them. The statues that seemed to lift buildings, even live on the walls for all to see or even in the middle of the cobblestone roads, were so lifelike that Fia could swear they could move at any moment's notice. The only thing that convinced her they were just statues, were the various birds that were perched upon them.

“That we are.” Fia giggled as she skipped on one foot to another before briefly turning back to face her father. “Then let us enjoy our vacation while we still have it.”
