I think something interesting about how the story of FGO progresses is how we can better understand the Master of Chaldea through how the story is told.
FGO is a story with a lot of ideals and beliefs being thrown about, but one of the more subtle and I think profound is how perspective can change how we see the events of FGO.
And while there is a lot of focus put on the large thematic themes of dreams, memory, the meaning of a life cut short, in many ways the Master is critical for the story as the one who brings all these lofty ideals to the ground.
Because above all else, the Master of Chaldea sees people above ideals.
From their perspective, we begin to understand that it is people that drive the story. None of the villains are truly faceless and not one person is truly forgotten, even if the world no longer remembers them.
That everyone who fights is not faceless, and that is the center of the compassion that drives the Master of Chaldea to reach out to even those who in many cases would be considered truly irredeemable.

even though i dont want to hope, i cant help but look forward to the new chapter... tokyo. the location is tokyo, the very place where guda is from. and considering the title which includes "Id", that tokyo may very well be a model of guda's tokyo, perhaps a tokyo full of absolute nightmares considering what they've been through.
considering dantes' involvement. im really hoping to see oberon and abigail but that would really depend on the writer/s for this chapter. i do have a feeling guda might get to see chaldean again... either way, my heart is beating like crazy lol
look at how the world is watching your story, fujimaru ritsuka. look at how much they want to see the extent of the damage in your heart and soul. look at how they want to see your anguish reach another new low, while they cheer for your absolute victory you have no choice but to attain.
the world cant wait to see you break again and be remade further.

What's your opinion and reaction when Lasengle made a Highschool AU of FGO and made it have angst and backstory for the protagonist?
Because it was very AO3 of them to do so
it WAS very ao3
on the one hand it isnt necessarily bad to flesh out the protagonist, on the other...ehhhh the issue w doing it like 8 years into the game is that everyone who cared enough about the mc to try and give them characterization would have gone and come up with their own ideas about their backstory/background so now they have to content with canon information that likely contradicts what theyve only just now decided to put in the game. its not an inherent issue but it wouldbe been nice if they mentioned some of the stuff about, say, ritsuka's FAMILY sooner even if there wasnt a story chapter dedicated to it bc then at least people would have known earlier on lol
also predictably there seems to be lots and lots of angst about ritsuka and how broken they are which im still kind of ambivalent about bc i think like...crying after the specific event trigger causing it in the story chapter is normal behavior and not really a sign of careening off the edge but yknow. people love their protag to be special

i mean yeah lots of people hate female characters for being underwritten and boring while loving the male characters with the exact same trait, but you gotta understand people who like those mid female characters don't necessarily mean they're Feminist
sometimes it's just because these girls have boobs and flirts with the protagonist and the person self inserting to said protagonist is jacking their meat to her
and sometimes there are haters in the world (me) who despise their writing regardless of gender

And I'm not a "Young Girl"!
You even said Mash looks older!
Jokes aside it does tick me off a bit when the dialog is very blatant about being written for the male protagonist first. It's better than having no female protagonist but it does get annoying being the secondary option.

10 for jjk and fate, if you want to 🖤
of course I want to 💜
10. Worst part of fanon
jjk
the fact that gojo has been mischaracterized to such a degree that it is now a running joke between fans sucks so bad. it also stinks so bad how people just hc and assumed yuki was a piece of shit because of geto (which also ruins his character a lot) but tried to be a little cheeky about it so no one would get on them like the people who blatantly called her evil.
fate
GOD fate has too many but biggest one will always and forever be how people mischaracterize arjuna as some dangerous, obsessive, evil character from his interludes and would sometimes make him aggressive despite him just.... not being aggressive

Why do you think Chaldea refused to approve of Kirschtaria's plan in Olympus? It's stated in his profile in FGO Material VIII that his plan would have lead to a better future than PHH and at the time Kirschtaria presented it Chaldea didn't know that it was going to be sabotaged. It's implied Ritsuka disapproves of it because it would be "running away and abandoning the past and the present" but considering how cruel and unfair PHH is I don't see why running away from it would be a bad thing.
Guda would do the same thing in Kirschtaria's role, according to Nasu, the story would roughly remain the same if they switched places. So at the time, that decline could be due to the lack of information.
But thematically, Novum Chaldea is a bunch of status quo-spineless stickers so they'll bow their heads down to accept "welp, can't be helped if we made these mistakes, can't take them back. i guess we'll be wiped" (that's why there's that line in a cm, afaik). Until a deus ex machina rolls in to save them.

I should write Gilderoy/Promme, Gilderoy/Scarecrow, and Gilderoy/Millard nsfw
“Why Gilderoy” He’s my favorite of the COTC original 8 and also my starter. Whoever got to be my Ringbearer chosen would be getting dicked down right there.
And Scarecrow is the obligatory sad widower with a dead wife and child. (See Osvald, an actual sad widower, and Temenos, who has a dead wife, Crick, in spirit)

MAJOR LOSTBELT 5.1 SPOILERS
...
When the Master of Chaldea sees the face of the Man from Chaldea, it is the face of an utter stranger. They are sure they've never seen the Man in their life.
And yet, something cracks within them when the Man speaks, and his voice is utterly devoid of something.
They don't know the Man's face, yet it somehow is familiar. And yet...
Yet...
...what is this feeling of utter revulsion? This flare of violent, irrational rage?
You don't belong in that body, they want to say. That body is not yours.
But the words get trapped in their throat, and he leaves.
And though they somehow hate him in the brief moments of his presence...
...there is a remembered pain like no other in watching him leave.

one of the many things about Silent Protagonists (thinking specifically of: Guda FGO, WoL FFXIV, the Persona protags) is that while they may seem empty or blank, taking on whatever qualities the NPC they're currently interacting with needs, that doesn't mean they have no personality. (Buddhist moment incoming) emptiness is substance. The ability to act like a mirror, to smile and nod your way through any conversation, to wear any mask you can, is in and of itself a personality trait.

giving m and f hakuno different lines + profiles + roles in the event story and as a result slightly different personalities was definitely the right move bc it allowed them to feature "hakuno kishinami" in fgo without unintentionally marking one of them as the "canon" one but its kinda funny how this just makes hakunon even more the best character ever. she's so much the best character ever not even the guy who until very recently was literally the same character with the exact same lines can compete

i wonder why people will take two genderswapped silent protagonist (FGO, 3H, etc) and impose different personalities on the male and female versions, even when there's no difference to their dialogue or interactions

i. this is so good, i cannot fathom this, it makes brain go brrrrrr
ii. some unhinged stream of consciousness thoughts:
Guda is a single person. An absolutely normal, average person that has some special skills here and there, and that falls below average in other regards. They are all in all a zero - a fool - bumbling through the world trying to find their place in it.
Guda is zero and infinity all at once.
Guda is a single person, but also the potentiality of Every Single Person.
Guda isn't humanity.
Guda is humanity's hope.
Humanity's will to live, to fight on in the face of impossible odds. Facing pains and horrors and joys and grace.
Being unable to do much and change anything by themselves, but through even just the choice to stand up and fight inspiring -inviting- others to join them.
Even if the universe is go dark and loose it's brightest stars to doubt and despair, there remains a single, tiny speck of light. A little star that has not given up, still reaching out. And as long as it remains, people will reach out in turn to that person that still belives in humanity - with all that is good and all that is bad and all that is inbetween.
That person that still belives in heroes,no matter the path in life and death that those heroes have chosen.
A person that is a single person but also every person.
Unknown to death. Not known by life.
A hope at a future as humanity is. Change occuring naturally within humanity, not have change forced upon humanity from powers beyond. A hope to find a path all of their own by their own volition, even if that path will eventually lead to the inevitable end.
Not everlasting. Not eradicated. Not regressed. Not purely a dream of an ideal world.
Simply, moving forward. Simply, living.
And it is a blessing.
And it is a curse.
For living means conflict. For living means strive. For living means dying. For living means grieving.
But it also means compromise. And living means comradery. And living means healing. And living means the pursuit of happiness.
And Guda is all of that and more. Compassion and cruelty. A dream and a nightmare. A reality impacting dreams, and a dream impacting reality.
Guda is seeking heaven while decending into hell. Still hoping. Still holding on. For if even a single person reaches out, someone will take that hand. You just have to keep on living. You just have to keep going. You just have to keep hoping.
Guda is humanity's "what if?"
Guda is that which remains at the bottom of Pandora's box, even as its evils are unleashed upon humanity.
Guda is everybody and nobody.
Guda is every player of FGO and their own person.
Guda is hope.
Guda is Humanity's Last Master.
[-> from someone that started fgo recently, got through part 1 and is halfway through epic of remnant, while knowing quite a lot of spoilers (bc the way i consume media is very chaotic)]
Guda is like. Reverse unlimited blade works. Unknown to death nor known to life. But by god. These hands held many things. These hands held so many things.
